That's an interesting thought, Gavin. I don't have any thoughts about it though. Although, now that you mention it, I wonder how do arrancars gain a zanpakuto. I know that it's been stated that they try to take their masks off to become shinigami's, but that's it. In any case, thought's on newest chapter. -Things are finally heating up. -Tessai has horns :) -Kensei's hollow is a beast. (Ichigo's ugly) -Still curious about bankais lol.

For the last two posters, Ziggy and katal1st. Simply listing games does not go well for conversation. For future threads, please put more thought into your posts. Final Fantasy VII was the last game to hit the 100 hour mark for me, and majority of those hours came from leaving it on the menu screen for so long. I probably could've beaten it a lot sooner if I didn't take breaks to get on the computer.

Bleach - It's not particularly bad (It had a lot of potential), but it's really disappointing. It's not as overhyped as Naruto or Inuyasha, but all the same, it's been overhyped enough. I think majority of my disappointment comes from reading the manga first. Btw, I only watch it on Adult Swim. (Last 2 episodes were pretty decent) True, the english version can sound a bit on the crappy side, but the voice work don't bother me that much. (I would've preferred the Ocean group taking over, but "shrugs" ) The artwork/animation is really inconsistent. I try to put my love for good artwork to show some leniency, but there've been episodes where everything can just get real ugly. It's like these long running series has a tendency to just fall flat and just can't have consistent artwork. (Truly bothersome.) And then there's my main disappointment. The action itself. Reading the manga first, I think I set myself up, because I was expecting some fast-paced, intense fighting. The manga had me thinking that these overpowered characters would be really fast (Rurouni Kenshin type stuff), but to see these characters just run (slow), not to mention some of these fights were shown in slow motion (not slow-motion, but it was shown in a slow pace.. Yoruichi v Soi Fon), that really disappointed me. Whatever intensity level there was, just seemed dull. Lately, I've been getting "but the fights later on down the line would suit me more" comments. That maybe true and whatnot, but whose to say that I'm willing enough to wait that long for those later fights? I can be really picky when it comes to anime in general, but for action anime, I [strike]"demand"[/strike] expect greatness. :p If I'm not pleased by the time the arc is at the midpoint, I'm done with it altogether. (Normally, I'm done after 4-5 episodes lol.. So I think that's an improvement XD) Bleach was an exception, because I was waiting for the Ichigo v Byakuya fight. (which was also disappointing) Pacing is horrible too. Bleach has the same issues that Naruto has with it's pacing.. Not to mention it took entirely too long for something to jump off. And I'll stop picking on Bleach for the time being before rattling anymore cages. XD

Hm. I don't have much of an opinion at the moment. I'm a bit skeptical because it sort of puts me in the mind of Eureka 7, and I'm a little bias against that. Reading that it's similar to Death Note sounds intriguing. So does that mean that the boy, Lelouch, (Renton) is supposed to be like Light? In what ways? It's certainly a colorful series, so far. I'm not certain if I really care much for the tall lanky look though. I'll probably continue with the series for a little bit.
Kenpachi has to face off against Kensei at some point for the title of most badass Gotei 13 captain
Agreed, but then one of them would have to fight Byakuya for that title as well. Or they should just have a 3 way fight. Heh, I'm stil anxious to see a fight between Byakuya and Kenpachi so "shrugs".
I'm still rather undecided as to who the two characters at the start were, Aizen mentioned himself that there were "others" with him, and I don't think he meant Gin or Tousen, so it's possible it was one or more of that group. It's equally possible of course that it was Kisuke and Mayuri, the freaky scientists of the 12th Division do seem to have very little regard for innocent lives.
The reason I say I think it's Aizen and Gin is because it's been a whole 9 years. While it's true that Aizen said there were others, Aizen declared that Gin was his vice captain, and I'm just assuming at this point that Gin is his only subordinate for right now. (Unless Tousen is already there.) But I agree, it is definately possible for it to be Kisuke and Mayuri to be behind the disappearances and whatnot.

Random thoughts about ch 104. -The two folks I would assume talking at the beginning of the chapter, I think it's Aizen and Gin. Unless this is where Urahara is caught doing his dirty work. -Kensei is a funny guy. -Hisagi... Guess it's safe to say he became a shinigami because of Kensei. No shocking moments in this chapter either, but plenty of funny moments.

Random thoughts about ch 398. -Sasuke should stay woke for a change so there could've been a quicker explanation about Itachi. -Is this one of one of those attempts where the villain(s) convince some character that the heroes are the villains? -Now we get some back story about the fight between Madara and the 1st Hokage. I'm actually looking forward to that. -I don't get what Madara was trying to get Sasuke to understand about Itachi. "Think about your kind-hearted brother".... "o.kay"? O_o?

Random times. There have been times when I've gone to bed as early as 7:00pm (would've been 6, but I refuse to go to bed without eating), and as late as 10:00am. (Don't ask) Most of the times when I go to bed between now (1:30am) and 3:00am it's normally due to not being able to go to sleep.

When I first became mod, I used to go to Arcade first. Then a little bit later on down the line it became Staff forums first, that is if there's anything new there... Now it's been more like -Anime -Manga -Arcade -Sometimes the Amphit..(dangit, that movie, music area) section and the Lounge -Done Very rarely will I go to other section of the forums now. (Just me becoming a little tired of forums in general) And then there have been cases where I would just lurk around while searching for something to do. I just started with the subscribe feature, although, I don't know why when I know I'm not going to use it.

Anime The Battle Between Manga and Anime (Anime Side)
Magus replied to Nomurah!'s topic in Otaku Central
Though there are some anime that are better than the manga like BLEACH. I mean you can't beat the awesome sound affects, quirks and funny moments that would be just confusing in the manga. So basically my vote goes to manga since clear plots and awesome stories rock!!!
You think so? I'm indifferent about the anime being funnier than the manga. But then again, I suppose it comes from reading the manga first. No doubt, there are some funny moments in the anime, but once after reading the manga, the anime version's comedic moments are watered down IMO. For instance, Urahara training Ichigo. I couldn't hold in my laughter during that (those) whole chapter(s), but seeing it in anime form, I didn't laugh at it much. I could go on and on about Bleach (manga or anime), but I don't want to turn this into a 3rd Bleach thread. ^^ -
What's Shoujo? I've seen the term somewhere else, but never knew what it was.
I hope you don't mean that in a good way. That looks nothing like how Magneto should look. He's supposed to be an old man - that Magneto looks like a teen! And he is far too pretty. I can only pray they update him for the final copy.
Actually, I did mean that in a good way. While he is suppose to be old, (and me growing up on the old cartoon... which he looked really young to be old lol. Him and Prof. X) we have no idea of what type of direction they're going with the story. (I did not read any of what was talked about... So if it's already talked about, please clarify so I'll go read it.)
-
Hm. I don't really know what to say. Magneto's look, if that's what he's going to look like, blew me away. Looks like Dante. (Devil May Cry) Now my real concern is the look of Wolverine. They have so many looks for him, and all of them are iffy. One of the pictures they have with a bulky lookin guy has more of a Sabretooth look. Personally, I'd prefer that one over the rest, and even then, I don't really care for that look either. Beast, although, he's not a favorite of mine is just something I'd hate to see. So far, it's definately an interesting take on the characters, but I'm really iffy on a couple of them.
I wouldn't say that I'm part of the OB family... Much rather that I'm part of the community, simply because I haven't really befriended many people on this site.
Same here. Although, I've already hit my 2 year mark (hit the 1 year mark for modship.), approaching the 3 year mark (still have some time before that though.) And I don't think I've befriended many people here either. I've talked to Revelation on AIM a few times. And I've talked to Gavin, TwistedChick, Raiyuu in the Naruto / Bleach manga threads. Other than that I don't really talk to many people.

Anime The Battle Between Manga and Anime (Anime Side)
Magus replied to Nomurah!'s topic in Otaku Central
Hm, while I like both, it's a bit hard to choose which one I like more. Each one has an up on the other. For instance, the artwork. You don't have to worry about inconsistent artwork in a manga, whereas, in an anime you have to deal with it almost every other episode. (depending on the company) Now, I've only read like 4-5 mangas, (online, of course) so, "shrugs" I do, however, prefer to see majority of my fights (gunfights in particular) in motion and in color, but the black and white don't really affect me in manga's. In some instances, black and white panels tends to look better than the colored pictures themselves. "CoughsBleachCoughs". And then there are some instances where the manga is just better than the anime. (Bleach... so many disappointments lol... As well as Naruto.) Another thing you wouldn't have to worry about in manga's are annoying voices.. So, like almost every other debatable topic (dubs vs subs), it's a preference call. -
Michael Clayton - It's certainly an interesting movie, but it's also one that you have to stick with from beginning to end because you may end up missing some important detail. I really can't be bothered with rewatching it again, but I missed what was trying to be leaked out and whatnot. Alvin and the Chipmunks - Heh. It's decent. If you're a fan of the chipmunks, you may want to check it out. I've never been a fan of the guy that was Dave, so perhaps this is just out of bias-ness, but I think they could've got a better Dave. Everything from that guy just sounds a little bland. Ocean's Eleven - I like this movie a lot. When I first seen this movie, I caught it somewhere in the middle. I didn't understand what was going on, and I thought it was fairly boring. And at the time I wasn't into Brad Pitt or George Clooney. But now that I've had the chance to see it from beginning to end, I think it was really good, and clever how everything was executed. In some ways, the thought process and whatnot reminds me of Death Note. Now I'm just trying to get my hands on Ocean's 12 and 13. And I'm not sure of the name of it (it's no movie), but my sister has Jeff Dunham's dvd with them puppets/dummies, and I've enjoyed that quite a bit. I think out of all of them, my favorite is Achmen (sp?) and Peanut. While Jeff's not the funniest in the world, he does have his moments with these puppets.

No doubt that there's going to be a lot of comparison's to Marvel vs Capcom. That's a given. But in the end that's all people really do these days is compare new games to old. They say they want something new, yet they go back, and say something along the lines of "____ does it better" (Not that I find anything wrong with that, but hey.. lol.) This is the 2nd game that's getting a mix bag of opinions because of collaboration. (Soul Calibur 4 being the 1st.)
Hmm, does anyone else think that Captain Kuchiki's Lieutenant in the last chapter looked a lot older than Byakuya ?
Cuz he is lol. Some people are under the impression that that lieutenant is Byakuya's father.

Heh, I'll admit that after Mortal Kombat Trilogy, I wasn't impressed with anything afterwards, and just gave up on it. The last Mortal Kombat game that I've actually played was MK4. The character models in DA and Armageddon certainly looked nice and all, but everything else just looked real stiff, (In comparison to the other 3D fighters) and made me not want to play it. In any case
http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/action/mortalkombat/news.html?page=1&sid=6189513&tag=top_stories;title;0 You'd think that after 16 years and a bevy of installments, the Mortal Kombat series would have lost its ability to be shocking. The passage of time has seen the game evolve from now humble-looking digitized origins to the sleek, robust 3D models in 2007's Mortal Kombat: Armageddon. The fatalities, which were once a lightning rod of controversy, have grown along with the series and become a key part of the franchise's appeal. The series has become an institution that's managed to change with the times and keep its fans--and this is no mean feat. The downside to that kind of longetivity is that 16 years in the public eye makes it pretty hard to deliver a surprise. Of course, after spending some time with MK series creator Ed Boon, we've seen it's not impossible. The veteran developer dropped more than a few jaws with his announcement of the eighth entry in the series, Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe. Yep. That's right Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and the MK posse versus Superman, Batman, and familiar faces from the DC universe. And yeah, it's not going to be M-rated. How's that for some curveballs? Before anyone starts citing this as a sign of the apocalypse, we'll suggest, as fans of the series ourselves, that everyone take a breath and keep an open mind. We were a little leery too but, after spending some time talking to Boon and getting a peek at a few things, we can say that there's a lot going on in MK vs. DCU. Once you get past the shock of the cape and tight set guest-starring in the fighter, you'll find that the game is the most ambitious reboot of the series since Deadly Alliance. The game's story is still being kept under wraps but, generally speaking, a cataclysmic event causes the DCU and MK universe to start merging. This provides the perfect setup for the game's story mode, which will offer two perspectives on the situation. You'll be able to play through two separate storylines, one from each side, which lay out what the heck is going on. The cataclysm in the story is driven by magic, which is a handy device that is tapped for the gameplay. The mystic elements that run through the story help keep the fighting balanced as it helps make a conflict between Superman, whose only vulnerability is magic, and characters like Sub-Zero and Scorpion, actually make some sense. Boon stressed that balance is going to be a key element for the team to focus on, this time on several other levels. Besides gameplay balance, which we'll touch on in a second, the team is having to be conscious of balancing two sets of fan expectations. MK fans, a passionate and exacting bunch, definitely have some specific expectations on who should be in the roster. At the same time DC fans, an equally passionate bunch who've never really had the benefit of having their beloved characters appear in a very good game, will also have some expectations on who should be in the roster as well. We'll come clean and admit to seeing a lot more of the game's roster than has been announced and can say that there's a good mix of white and dark hats on both sides, as well as some surprises. The other key element to the game is balancing the game mechanics to ensure the whole experience plays well. As if sweating the roster and story weren't enough, Boon and his ambitious team have opted to revamp the whole fighting system for MK's next gen debut. This has led to a "clean slate" approach that has the team re-examining every aspect of the combat system. While you'll see some hints as to what's going on with the fighting system in the teaser trailer, Boon himself offered us a clearer picture of what's going on. The multiple fighting styles and weapon systems from previous games are out, and a more-visceral, brutal approach to fighting is in. MK vs. DCU will introduce several new elements that the team is hoping will make battles more dynamic. The three major ones that are ready to be discussed are Klose Kombat, Freefall Kombat, and stage interaction. Klose Kombat is a mode you'll initiate which pulls in the camera in close and has its own separate mechanics. Basically, when you initiate the mode you'll be the aggressor and your opponent will be on defense. In this closer view you'll be able to attack your foe's upper body with different types of blows for a set period of time, the exact duration of which is still being ironed out. To keep things fair, your opponent will be able to perform a number of different defensive moves to dodge your attacks, provided they're fast. Freefall Kombat is another change of pace, tied in part to stage interaction. The mode is another player initiated sequence which is kicked off by you flinging your foe off a stage. Unlike previous games you won't just follow them down or watch yourself drop. Instead the camera willl come in and you'll be able to fight on the way down. You'll have a slightly tweaked set of possible attacks in this mode, much like Klose Kombat. From what we've seen, it appears your big motivation in these sequences is to gain the advantage on the way down and land on your opponent, for an added damage bonus. Part of this mode is tied to the stages, which appear to feature a different basic design than the previous games. The fighting areas will be a bit wider, to support throwing your opponent through walls and, in some cases, much taller, to allow enough time for fighting during freefall. Since these new elements should definitely change the flow of battle, the team is spending a lot of time figuring out the right amount of time for them to last. In addition, the fighting moves of the MK cast are getting an upgrade to let them go toe-to-toe with established and powerful characters like Superman. A more potentially controversial change to the system is the game's fatalities. According to Boon, there will definitely be fatality-like finishing moves, but they may not be called fatalities. After all, it's doubtful that Superman or Batman would be ripping out anyone's spines or hearts. That said, the team is hellbent on pushing the limits to what they can do with the DC characters, so you can expect to see blood and some level of damage accumulate during a fight. The visuals in the game benefit from a tweaked out Unreal III engine, which has allowed the art team to go to town. Scorpion and Sub-Zero have never looked better thanks to a high level of detail that shows off little touches like the stitching on their costumes. At the same time, the DC characters are looking super sharp. The game's art direction mixes the traditionally dark MK elements with the DC heroes pretty well so far. As we noted, the MK crew is looking the best they ever have. As far as the heroes go, Midway and DC are collaborating on tweaked designs and color palettes for the characters to ensure they fit into the overall look of the game. Comic fans should be pleased to hear that the team is looking at some of the iconic design work from Alex Ross, and other acclaimed artists who've put a distinctive stamp on the DC heroes, as inspiration. From what we've seen, it's paying off, as some of the unrevealed characters look fantastic. As far as the stages go, you can expect to see a mix of Mortal Kombat's traditional "Outworld" environments and iconic DC locales mixed together to serve the game's story. Based on this first look, Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe is going to mix things up in the MK franchise. The DC partnership aside, the changes to the combat system appear to be pretty sweeping and should present a new challenge for veteran players to master. The whole game is an ambitious undertaking and is definitely taking some risks with the series, but that may be exactly what's needed to keep it evolving. We'll be keeping a close eye on Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe in the months leading up to its release on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 later this year. http://image.com.com/gamespot/images/2008/108/reviews/943566_20080418_embed001.jpg
Combining MK and DC characters is certainly a collaboration I didn't think would come around. If anything, I was expecting a DC vs Marvel game first. And then what really caught my attention is how the fighting is going to be like. Freefall fighting is something I've been waiting to see put into a game for a long time.

I finished reading Death Note a couple of days ago. Seeing
L's and Rem's death last Saturday
made me sort of impatient. I just had to know how
they were going to catch Light
. Granted I knew ahead of time, I just had to read up to that point. ^^ Also, I came across a new character that I like.
Mello
, who reminds me of Envy for some reason.
Near
is pretty good, too. I wonder how will they fit the manga in with the remaining 12 episodes. I'm not watching anything new. I did miss the last two episodes of Black Lagoon though...

Heh. Been a while since I've actually posted a request. Background: Have fun, but a small note. Don't use anything too dark.
Alas, I am deffinite that everyone would just love to stop Sasuke from f***ing the world up and wasting our valuable manga reading time!
I've actually enjoyed majority of these chapters that're dealing with Sasuke. Of course he's no Itachi, but he's fairly close to it. And I just find him to be more interesting than Naruto. (don't mind that. It's bias talk lol) Meh, they need to change the title to something else. I never did understand why people would name these series after the character when there are tons of other characters that gets just as much story time as the main character. I forgot there was no Naruto this week. Edit: One thing I just noticed about both Bleach and Naruto is that when one series slows down, the other speeds up. We've hit a slow down with Naruto, yet a buttload of questions are being answered in Bleach.
Also, is it just me, or was Yoruichi flirting with mini-Byakuya?
I'm not certain if I'd say she was flirting. I just see her picking on him. But if you you're going by what other people say about "Girls picky/hitting guys means they like them", then I guess you can say she was flirting. I find it a little funny that Byakuya used to be what Ichigo is now. "DEMON CAT" Seeing Byakuya say that sort of cracks me up. No more shocking moments....
I dunno about Zaraki Kenpachi being a captain before Aizen....from the way that they were talking, they made seem as if there were more than one Kenpachi who always competed for the spot as Captain of the 11th division. Seems like another mystery to me...
Re-reading chapter 108 (M7's translation. They always have something different.), I have to agree with you now. M7 has this Kenpachi labelled as being lazy and a pig. That don't sound anything like the Kenpachi we know. I don't know how I didn't catch it the last time I read that chapter, but it also gave a clearer explanation on what captain Kenpachi killed to become a captain... (Assuming that the Kenpachi we know is the 12th Kenpachi Zaraki.) Think about that way, Tousen's explanation to Kenpachi and Aizen's explanation to Toshiro would make more sense in trying to piece everything together.
