The last CD I got was: Gnarls Barkley-St.Eslewhere: This album is pretty good. Most of the songs on it are pretty funky and catchy with really nice beats, and it has an overall 'feel good' atmosphere to it. You should pick it up if you're in to bands like Gorillaz and Beck. Before that I got Dangerdoom: The Mouse and the Mask which was also a really good album. I like the way MF Doom raps, it's unlike anything I've every heard from any other rapper. He often uses words that you wouldn't expect to hear in a rap album, and and he really articulates and pronounces his words.

What do you do when the power goes out?
Revolut1on replied to CyberPandaLove's topic in General Discussion
Whenever the electricity goes out here I like to play my PSP. If it happens to be undercharged, or dies while I'm playing it, I listen to CDs. If my batteries run out, or it's too dark to see what I'm doing, I usually just go to sleep. I love sleeping without power, it sort of makes me feel rugged and manly, like a pilgrim lol. The electricity rarely goes off for very long here though, which is strange because we have a fair share of tornadoes come through. The longest I can recall it being out is like an hour and a half. -
My favorite song would have to be "Strength of the World" by Avenged Sevenfold, though "I Won't See you Tonight Pt.1" is a close second. I love how this song starts out sounding like a song that belongs in an old western movie. Then Gates comes in with this awesome guitar riff and the song really picks up. The lyrics always make me feel like I can do anything. It's also really catchy; try listening to this song without chanting STRENGTH OF THE WORLD along with the band, it's nearly impossible. I guess I'll follow the trend here and post the lyrics. "Strength Of The World" My story starts the day they said "she can't be found" the news so dark, heart stopped, I stood silent without a sound It's over, she's finished, mother lies with your father and sister too Cold-blooded, they suffered, shot down by the outlaws after you Sorrow swallows my screams Strength of the world - is on my shoulders Strength of the world - is on my side Strength of the world - the one true beholder Ice in my veins - for those who've died I've seen my family fade away, you've taken my whole life There's nothing left to say Avenge the dead killed all who crossed me in my path Suicidal, I never planned on coming back I want it, I need it, revenge is dripping from my teeth Need nothin', to feel power, and bring the killers to their knees Nothin' ta lose vengeance ta gain (you know I'll never be the same) So taste my breath I'm close behind you (so desperate on your final day) Sorrow swallows my screams Strength of the world - is on my shoulders Strength of the world - is on my side Strength of the world - the one true beholder Ice in my veins - for those who've died I've seen my family fade away, you've taken my whole life There's nothing left to say Sitting in silence with heaven above me I prayed every night by their graves While I search for closure I feel it no longer I can't turn my cheek away I stand before you; I'll sin when I have to But now I leave your side, to avenge my family's pride I've seen my family fade away, you've taken my whole life There's nothing left to say Strength of the world - is on my shoulders Strength of the world - is on my side Strength of the world - the one true beholder Ice in my veins - for those who've died So far forever now alone, a greater punishment on me has been imposed A killer falling from the light, I'll miss my family, I'll never be alright That's all she wrote...

Here are two of my favoite bands: Linkin Park- I don't care about what anyone has to say about these guys, their lyrics are just amazing; extremely poetic and well crafted, and Chester puts amazing passion into singing each song, his voice is just awesome. Though I must admit, they certainly aren't the most musically talented band out there, I still enjoy all of their songs. It's like whenever I listen to their music I'm all of a sudden in a different world. Avenged Sevenfold- Only one word comes to mind when I think about these guys, wow. These guys are extremely talented both musically and lyrically. Their guitar solos are some of the best that I've heard from any band that's around right now. M.Shadows has an extremely versitile voice. Not only he can do songs like Darkness Surrounding where it's mostly screaming, but he can also sing extremely melodic rock ballads like Seize the Day. If you combine their amazing guitar solos and their awesome vocals with awe-inspiring drum work and driving baselines, you have the makings of a truly epic band.

I think it all depends on whom the person is. I'm presonally not affected by the music I listen to at all, but I know that some people are. For example (and I hate to use this, but it the only thing I can think of right now) wiggers, white kids who listen to rap music and try to live out the fantasy. On the other hand, I'm willing to bet money that there are successful businessmen out there who listen to the same music, yet they don't behave any differently.
I love the game though I've only played it for a little. My friend got me addicted at a class party and I'm planning on buying a copy once I've put enough of my income to the side. Anyone got a recommened starting title?
For beginners I'd personally recommend DDR Extreme 2, it has the most songs, and it has a beginner mode. If you've already moved past beginner mode, you might want to get DDR Max. It's my personal favorite, and has some pretty challenging songs on it.
So I went on a little downloading spree, looking up all the bands listed here and there. Porno Graffiti: "Hitori no Yoru"- I really like the beat of this song, it's a funky kinda rock. Really bouncy and that's what I like about this song. "Agehacho"- The beat sounds somewhat latino, and also very upbeat. I love the flute! "Melissa"- At first I didn't really like this, because the beginning wasn't really tweaking my ears, but as I listened to the rest of the song I started to enjoy it, although I like the other two songs much better. Verdict: Definately a band worth checking out, it's upbeat pop/rock songs are great to listen to on my MP3 player. Utada Hikaru "Tokyo Nights"- Very pop song, but I love how unique it sounds, at least unlike North American pop songs. "Devil Inside"- The beginning of this song I was just kind of waiting to hear the rest of it to decide what I thought of it. But again, very different from most pop songs, and I like the guitar in it too. As well as the Japanese instrument (I forget what it's called). Great song. Verdict: Very unique pop music, I would definately prefer this over the stuff that is popular here. L'Arc~En~Ciel "Forever (Eien)"- This song reminded me of The Strokes. I love it. "Lies and Truth"- This song is okay, the opening was a little blah, but then it kind of picked up a little bit. I liked the use of violins. Good stuff. Verdict: I allready liked these guys, so expanding my song list by them is just lovely. Glay "Scream"- This is such a funky song. Has a bit of a industrial/techno feel to it. I just wanna boogy when I listen to it. "So Far Yet So Close"- Quite different from Scream, but also a very unique and beautiful song. "Way of Difference"- Another slower song, very mellow, I would listen to this while I'm studying or lounging. I like how it picks up a little bit too, kind of lifts you up from the mellowness. Verdict: If there are more songs as awesome as Scream, I definately want to hear more.
Awesome, I'm glad I could help a fellow anime fan find some really good music :animesmil

Anime Do you have a crush on an anime character?
Revolut1on replied to frankieanime's topic in Otaku Central
I currently have a huge crush on Beldandy from Ah! My Goddess. She's just so cute and innocent. If I had a girlfriend I'd want her to be just like Beldandy. -
Anime Which series grabbed you from the start?
Revolut1on replied to Nekova's topic in Otaku Central
Well it's pretty rare for me to get into an anime right from the start, but a few series that come to mind are Samurai Champloo: The action combined with the hip-hop elements drew me in immediately. Vandread: The artwork for the mechs and other characters is beautiful. All the women also make it visually pleasing ~_^. Genshiken: Storyline, Storyline, Storyline. Genshiken is one of the coolest anime series ever, I like how the overall mood of it feels laid back. -
If you're looking for a good strong J-pop female vocalist, you can't go wrong with Crystal Kay. Every song I've heard from her has been awesome. Her vocal skills are rivaled by very few women in the J-pop industry. If you want to hear a song from her that shows off her amazing voice you should check out 'Tears.' Not only does she have an awesome voice for someone so young, but she's also really beautiful. If you're looking for a really good J-pop band I highly recommend L'Arc~en~Ciel. Their lead singer, Hyde, has one of the most amazing voices I've ever heard. And Ken's gutiar work is nothing short of brilliant. I recommend their song Forever ~Eien, it's so beautiful. Other cool J-pop artists/groups: Utada Hikaru Porno Graffiti Asian Kung-Fu Generation Chemistry Ayumi Hamasaki Glay Gack't I hope I was helpful.
I've been playing a short time, and I think I am getting pretty good already, I can do almost all songs on Heavy, including Max 300, and can get pretty far on Paranoia survivor Max, although I still struggle with crossovers (only two of 'em -- and ) and am also progressing onto In The Groove 2. My friend just bought a Cobalt Flux pad, and it is... PERFECT it makes the pads at the local arcades just plain SUCK. =D I don't exactly have bragging rights since instead of starting on beginner I started on light because I was told the proper ways to play, and then I was forced into playing Heavy/Standard until I was good enough to do it. I will always like hearing people stories about how they are getting better at DDR. Well I better go, class in 5 minutes Cya
Wow, that's really good. You advanced pretty quickly. I've been playing for almost two years now and I just got around to getting an A on Max 300 heavy (it was the only song on heavy that I hadn't at least A'd on DDRMAX :animeswea) As far as Paranoia survivor Max, I can barely get past the first two slowdowns. Right now I have a Red Octane Ignition 2 which I've owned for about a year now. I really want a Cobalt Flux, but sadly I'm poor. Does anyone here freestyle? I do sometimes when I'm at home, but nothing really serious. I think it's awesome coming up with the stupidest "dancing" moves for the game lol.

I enjoy listening to music that tells a story. I guess that's one of the only reasons I like rap music so much. It's kind of like an escape from reality. You have this guy talking about killing people, selling drugs, etc. but in reality the rapper probably doesn't participate in any of it, yet millions of people believe it. It's like rappers do nothing more than tell folktales with a beat behind them. Don't get me wrong, I like rap music, I just don't take any of it seriously. I guess you can say I listen to music to hear someone try to make the impossible seem possible.

I have to say the most annoying enemies in any game were all those orgmen (sp?) from Gungrave. It's like everytime you kill one of them like a hundred more come from nowhere. Another (sort of) enemy that got on my nerves were those white mushrooms from Kingdom Hearts. I could never figure out exactly what they wanted, so I could never get any mysterious goo.

I've always liked fighting games, I guess that's because I started out on them. I also enjoy a good shooting game every now and then. I like arcade shooters such as Time Crisis and Vurtua Cop better than most first person shooters. Nothing can beat holding a guncon in your hand, it really puts you in the game.

I've been a L'Arc~en~Ciel fan for almost a year now. They're so awesome, they surpassed Porno Graffiti on my list of favorite Japanese artisits. I really like their songs Lover Boy and Eien. Eien is so beautiful sounding; I get all misty everytime I listen to it. I just wish I could find the translated lyrics for it.
