There are so many pretty songs I like, but most people don't know very many of the different band's songs. I would have to say certain songs by Modest Mouse are definitely worthy of the title pretty [e.g. The World At Large, Float On, Ocean Breathes Salty, Interlude (Milo), One Chance, and The Good Times Are Killing Me]. Anything by Badly Drawn Boy is just so pretty, it's so hard to turn it off. And finally, the band I think deserves the most praise right now with their new album, is Okkervil River. If you don't know this band, or own the album Black Sheep Boy, get it now! The music is hauntingly pretty, the lyrics are amazingly sad and filled with emotion, it's almost hard not to cry. Almost makes you wonder if the songs are based off of life experiences. And don't be surprised if you can, at the very least, partially feel like some of the songs are about your life. Right now, my favorite, if I had to choose just one, would be In A Radio Song. Here are the lyrics. In A Radio Song: Black sheep boy, blue-eyed charmer, head hanging with horns from your father--oh, in a cold little mirror you were grown, by a black little wind you were blown, alone, alone, alone. Sad smile on your lips, you shake and shiver. Some animal sips where the river flows from a black little crack in a stone. To a crackle in a radio song, sing along, sing along, sing along. Warm light when your eyes fill with laughter. Some animal lies in the pasture, holes in its throat where the blood was drawn, in its mouth where the tongue was torn by your claws. I rose from a dream; we were running from every being that was hunting, but we let them get ahead of us. We let them lie in wait for us. We're f***ed, We're f***ed, We're ********ed. I rose from a dream; I had just destroyed everything with one crushing blow, and I woke up and watched it go, and I woke up and wagged my tongue. So long, so long, so long.

I have found a better song that relates to me than what I previously posted. And that song is Sermon by Drowning Pool. Where was God when I needed a friend Where was God when I came to an end Where was God when I lost my mind Where was God when I couldn't find Don't want to be up or down Where was love when I felt like hate Where was hate when I felt like love Where were you when you said you'd be there Where was the fear when I said I was scared Tell me what you believe I'll tell you what you should see 'Cause I don't know who to trust My heart is filled with disgust I can't take this Ladies and Gentlemen May I have your attention Are you ready for the joke Are you ready for the great deception Sadly enough, that song is basically the truth to my life. I don't really have very many close friends, so yea. Basically what I'm trying to say is my life sucks right now because I'm pretty lonely.

I'm pretty sure they haven't been mentioned, and I'm not sure if they would be considered modern rock, but another group I like is Beck. Everyone should give their new CD a try. Beck is awesome for me, because I like when people try different kinds of music for each song they put on their CD. And Beck is the only one I know that really does that.

Here is an interesting viewer review: After the mediocrity that was Cabin Fever, I had little expectation for Eli Roth's new horror flick, Hostel. However, after watching the North American preview at the Toronto Film Festival, I was pleasantly surprised. I went to the midnight showing and when the movie was finished I've got to say, I was a little anxious going home. The movie dispenses with much of the clever, self-congratulatory repartee made so popular in horror films since Scream and its imitators. It opts instead for the old fashioned horror staples of nudity, terror, blood and tension. It was original, well filmed and well acted by a stable of Eastern European unknowns. Since we didn't see the final cut, I am anxious about how it will show in theaters. I hope that Hostel keeps its edge. If so, it will emerge as a modern-day horror classic. And interesting trivia facts:

The trailers bill the movie as "inspired by true events." Aintitcoolnews.com webmaster Harry Knowles showed director Eli Roth a website he found that advertised itself as a "murder vacation", offering users the chance to torture and kill someone for the price of $10,000. Roth used the site as inspiration for his script, and told the idea to Quentin Tarantino, who said it was one of the "sickest ideas he'd ever heard". Roth said later on an Icelandic talk show that he had no idea if the website was real or not, but the fact that someone had conceived of such a place and bothered to create a site for it disturbed him so much he had to make the film.
"The American Businessman" (Rick Hoffman) almost gave himself a concussion and bruised his head with the butt of his gun while filming the scene where he decides how to murder his victim.
Eli Roth hired real street kids to play the Bubble Gum Gang.

Eli Roth asked the President of Iceland for an official pardon for making Icelanders look like drunken sex maniacs with the character of Oli. The president laughed and gave Roth the pardon, saying it represented a side of Icelanders not shown in movies. Roth also issued a formal apology to the Icelandic Minister of Culture, for all the damage "Hostel" may cause to Iceland's reputation.
Over 150 gallons of blood were used in the making of the movie, nearly three times the amount used on Eli Roth's first film Cabin Fever (2002).
Eli Roth wrote the role of Oli for Eythor Gudjonsson after he met him doing press for Cabin Fever (2002) in Iceland. Roth was so taken with Eythor's charisma and charm, he promised he'd make put him in a movie one day. Eythor was surprised when he saw that Roth had followed through with his promise, and happily accepted the role.
Eli Roth wanted to have the world premiere of the finished film at the 2005 Iceland Film Festival. During the festival, Roth and Quentin Tarantino were made honorary Vikings at Viking Village, in a ceremony arranged by Eythor Gudjonsson. Roth's Icelandic name is Eli Sheldonsson, and Tarantino's Icelandic name is Quentin Conniesson.
The movie was written, produced, directed and released theatrically all in a twelve month period, which is three times faster than the average Hollywood film.
The interior of the slaughterhouse was filmed at a functioning mental hospital in Prague built in 1910, in a wing that had been closed for over 50 years. Building 10, where many of the scenes were filmed, was where the craziest patients were taken. The basement was so creepy that Eli Roth had a string quartet playing Vivaldi to make it feel cozier while shooting.
The Czech and Slovak pop songs in the movie were huge hits in Czechoslovakia between the years 1982 and 1989.
The movie has nine different languages and no subtitles. It holds the record for the most different languages in an American film without subtitles.
Eli Roth put nearly every single crew member in the film, including production accountant Mark Bakunas, who appears on a poster in the background of three different scenes for his fictional rock band, 'Bakunas and the Essential Elements.' The other members of the band on the poster are producers Mike Fleiss and Chris Briggs, Co-Producer Dan Frisch, Production and Costume Designer Franco Carbone, and Roth.
Warning: Spoiler alert below SPOILER:
The original ending in the script ended with the murder of one of the character's 5-year-old daughter. It was changed for the film because many of the film's producers told Eli Roth that it was too violent. SPOILER: The scene which used the cutting of one character's Achilles' heel used the same prop that was used for an alternate version of the Achilles' heel cutting scene in the hospital in Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (2003).
I amended your post with actual spoiler tags. I left in your spoiler warnings, though. --Manic W.

Wow. I just watched the craziest but still really cool (in my opinion) zombie movie ever! Everyone who is reading this, you need to run to some place that rents or sells movies and look for one called Undead. There is a picture of someone with a gas mask on the front. Shouldn't be hard to miss. This movie has a good amount of humor, blood, gore, and zombie killing action. There is a certain part where it starts to suck for a while, but stick with it. The ending is worth it!:animesmil

Haunting Experiences (and advice)
Crimson River replied to 2010DigitalBoy's topic in General Discussion
Yea it is! I really get into all the ghost and killer kind of stuff too. I have some books on it. Also one of the reasons I'm so hooked on scary movies and stuff. Did you check out the link? Now that is also scary as ****. It would definitely be interesting to have sex with a ghost. Would that even be possible? I suppose two ghosts could do it. -
Haunting Experiences (and advice)

Stuff like that used to happen to me all the time when I was younger. Not so much anymore. I used to see all kinds of weird things. Like the ceilings would drip blood only I could see, or random hands would just pop up from the sides of my bed. I would close my eyes for about 5 seconds and they would be gone. I heard all different kinds of voices which would just call me by my first name. Now, I very rarely hear an out of place noise, and that's about it. One of my friends tried the whole bloody mary 5 times chant. He got to about 3 when his TV came on from it's own accord and was nothing but static. He never finished the chant or tried it again. One of my other friends heard a story from one of her friends. Her friend was having a sleepover. When they had to go to bed, they went to turn off the glitter lamp in her room. But it wouldn't turn off. Her friends' mom even verified that it was in the off position, but still on. Later they heard footsteps walking around in the hall. They called out to see if it was the mom, but got no reply. The footsteps stopped outside their door...which is the exact time the glitter lamp finally turned off. And this is a link you may all find very interesting about ghost legends...if your computer has sound and can play videos. I would wield two sun moon blades. Kudos to you if you even know what these are. Or if you're just a Mortal Kombat fan. I would name them Fool's End and Dark Atrocity.

It looks like you could probably relate to some Gorillaz songs too. I personally have been amazed at the new Okkervil River CD. Some of the songs on there remind me at least a little bit of my life. One is called So Come Back, I Am Waiting. A black sheep boy revolves over canyons and waterfalls. A black sheep boy dissolves in syringe or shower stall. He says "there's plenty of time to make you mine tonight, there's plenty of time to make you mine." He says "there's plenty of ways to know you're not dying, all right. Hell, there's plenty of light still left in your eyes." A black sheep boy grows horns, breathing smoke through his microphone. The airwaves stretch and they groan, bleeding, birthing his black diapason. He says "there's plenty of things to wear when you come to me, every color of sleeve to be rolled. There are millions of rolling eyes that still cling to me. Every language of king is concerned. So why did you bawl from the spell of some old holy song that some liar laughed as he composed--some liar I loved to control?" A black sheep boy dissolves in hot cream, in sweet moans, in each dead bed and empty home, in each seething bacterium. Killing softly and serial, he lifts his head, handsome, horned, magisterial. He's the smell of the moonlight wisteria. He's the thrill of the abecedarian. (See the muddy hoofprints where he carried you?) And there's plenty of ways to claim his crimes tonight, and there's plenty of things to do on his dime. And there's plenty of ways to wear his hide tonight. You've got yours and I've got mine. So why did you flee? Don't you know you can't leave his control, only call all his wild works your own? So he come back to your old black sheep man. He says "I am waiting on hoof and on hand. I am waiting, all hated and damned. I am waiting--I snort and I stamp. I am waiting, you know that I am, calmly waiting to make you my lamb." Yea, it's really difficult to explain. The song and lyrics just seem to speak to me. Am I odd? Or just different?
