My favorite anime is Fruits Basket, I'm actually watching it right now. With it's outstanding story, brilliant morals, a bit of a romantic twist that appears here and there, and the story of friendship and acceptance, it makes me feel better when I'm sad or in a bad mood. It's a very funny anime, too. I mean, there are so many comical moments in this anime that it is hard to hate this series! Another I like is DNAngel, not as good as the manga, but it's still pretty good. Although, in the anime, there are many side-stories that just aren't needed in the anime, and it could've well just been a thirteen episode series instead of twenty-something from what is out. The ending was well portrayed and it made me cry. I am just a sap for DNAngel. Heh. :animeswea I think that's all I have to say. :D

For some reason, I can never stop listening to Tarzan, the soundtrack. I used to LOVE singing it while I was listening to it, and it'd make me go to sleep so much faster. I think I just really like Phil Collins' voice and everything. Another soundtrack I constantly listen to is the recent 2004 two disc special of Phantom of the Opera, one of my most favorite books and musicals. Amazing. The songs come straight off of the movie, and I've watched the movie countless times, so it gets me so excited whenever I listen to it. :animesmil

I don't know. I am such a fan towards the classic disney movies, such as Bambi, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, Little Mermaid... A lot of the movies that were originally based off of previously written movies. I grew up reading these stories, and watching these movies alike. Disney just seems to be losing it's touch because the society these days are just demanding so much more. Younger children these days are either into stupid, silly, violent humor or something that isn't even meant for their age group! I thought Brother Bear was an okay movie, not the best, but the plot idea was nice. I just wish that there could be a bit more in life these days than what is out there right now. And with competition of rebuilding and remaking books/stories into movies, and Disney isn't really doing that anymore, I think there wasn't really any other choice but to make up and move forward into the new age.

MindGrinder: You should've put that in spoiler tags. People, like me, didn't know that yet. I don't believe it is that hard to put things in spoiler tags, just do [*spoiler*]insert whatever here[*/spoiler*] without the * in it, and it'll come out as:
insert whatever here
. Anyways. I really do like Fruits Basket. Although, I must say I am much more attached to the anime than the manga. The manga's art doesn't seem to attract me so. Plus, I got hooked on that series through the anime first, because the anime was released with FUNimations before Tokyopop released it dubbed. :animeswea The story line is so good, and the use of the zodiac story is cute, too. I am also hoping for a season two to appear, if not, then that'd be rather sad. I've read up to volume 12 of Fruits Basket or so. Heh.

I remember when I read the book about two years ago, I fell in love with the story and immediatly wanted to watch this movie when I found out it was coming to my theaters! I watched it and I loved the movie all the same. I agree with Dagger when she talks about all of the... spoilers she mentioned. Like always, the music by Joe Hisaishi is absolutly beautiful. I wish I could get the soundtrack, but my parents refuse to get imported material. Oh well. :animeswea I enjoy this movie. Although, my second favorite movie for Miyazaki would be Whisper of the Heart. It was recently on Turner Classic Movies Channel on the third Thursday of the month of January? I recorded it and watched it. The DVD will be released the same day as Howl's Moving Castle! (March 7th) Spirited Away would have to be my third favorite. :D I think that's all I have to say.

Anime Name an anime that you can watch over and over
hey_love replied to meka2003's topic in Otaku Central
I watch Fruits Basket over and over and each time I finish the series I get kinda of mad because I hate where it ends.... but I still keep watching it.
I was also going to say I could watch Fruits Basket over and over. Every time I watch it, it gives me the jitters. More so when I watch the last three episodes. Of course, this is only season one. Season two has yet to be brought over, according to FUNimation. The say that they're trying to bring the second season over the the US. I hope so! This series has such great morals, and such wondeful standards. It throws in such mixes of different aspects and emotions. This story is about acceptence, and it shows how hard it to be accepted, and how easy it could be at the same time. I just love this series so much. -
I enjoyed the manga much more than the anime. I really like how the whole love will set you free message is being told in this series. It's cute. Although, in the anime, it's just so editted. More than half of the original plotline is cut out, and then there are just all these added on episodes. But, in the
episodes dealing with the "Second hand of time" and such, it seemed to be such a big deal in this series, while in the manga, even though it takes up about 3 volumes to tell the story, the anime makes this the only real big thing throughout the whole story plotline~!
I did not really like that. I am a much bigger fan when it comes to the manga, though. I love how Sugisaki draws each character. I definatly wish I could draw like that.

Well, it depends, what type of anime are you into? If you're into action, comedy, romance and drama, then you should watch Fushigi Yugi or InuYasha. (If you watch them both, I bet you'll be able to catch some similarities.) Another good one is DNAngel, a fantasy with a romantic twist in the modern era. DNAngel is one of my favorites. If you're into the psychotic thing, Paranoia Agent is a really good one, and one of the episodes, Happy Family Planning, or something like that is actually rather hysterical...! Some other good animes are: Neon Genesis Evangelion, it had a seriously disturbing effect on me, Samurai Champloo, if you like the swordship type of thing, Prince of Tennis, very funny and if you like tennis then it'd make more sense most likely, too! A lot of anime is played on the channel Cartoon Network. Around 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM, they have some anime, but it is the editted versions usually. Then on adult swim, they have a variety of anime, too. If you want to see the adult swim lineup, go here. I hope that helps.

Anime What new anime/manga are you looking forward to?
hey_love replied to darkartic's topic in Otaku Central
Hmmm... Well, I'm constantly looking forward to the next issue of Shounen Jump, and anime wise, when Fullmetal Alchemist will be back on Adult Swim on Saturdays. I also look forward to the next volumes of XXX Holic and Chrono Crusade (for some reason, they come out really slow.) And I also hope for the day that Shaman King might get handed over to FUNimation and be liberated from the suckiness that 4kids has stuck upon it... :animeangr
Fullmetal Alchemist has been on Saturday night lineups for that past couple of weeks. Right now, the episode that was on Saturday (technically sunday at 12:30 AM) is called His Name is Unknown. I'm looking forward to when the 2nd season of Fruits Basket is dubbed and in the United States! I am also looking forward to the final books of DNAngel. I think the manga willl be coming to an end soon in the next couple of volumes, sadly enough. I also just got into the manga series Full Moon: wo Sagashite because my cousin got the current four volumes out so far for me. It is very much cute and such a sad story. The fifth volume should be coming out around April or so. :D -

That's all I can remember right now, there are more that I've seen, but didn't really like and just stopped watching, or some that I've watched a few episodes here and there, and others I watched ages ago and just can't think of them. -
Yeah, but because this time in life is getting rather perverted as well, with sexual statements found funny and in almost every joke, it's only natural that anime, no, not just anime, but shows and movies would keep up with the times as well. That was directed towards the comment of anime is getting perverted lately. :) Otherwise, the whole "sexism" thing, I think it's a common interest within all the animes. Since each has it's own story, there's always the bishonen that was either once a nerd/geek/loser turned into absolute hottie with a body and personality to boot, or the cocky, way-too-good-for-anyone excluding that main character that's a girl. And in almost every anime, there's at least one perverted character, or one character that adds in the comical relief, that may have some sexual inuendos in them All in all, anime is more or less portraying it's own view of our world in certain perspectives. And maybe the first few animes that was ever released, the creators thought of men and women like that. Fin.

Wait, so the 4th Inuyasha movie, it has been released in the United States already? Or are you talking about it already being released in Japan? :animesigh

I'm very much attached to the series DNAngel. The manga more than the anime, though. It's just so entriguing to see what will happen next in each volume. Most of the volumes have ended in quite a dramatic cliffhanger. I'm talking about the manga. And plus, I love the way Sugisaki draws each character. When it comes to the anime, I am a bit disappointed. There are too many side-stories, but the last few discs go down to the basic plotline and gives a dramatic twists. I laugh and cry at the same time.
The end is rather bitter-sweet.
Another series I like is Princess Tutu. I have yet to finish the first season, but I like how it is its own fairy tale. And the music is beautiful. If someone loves the Nutcracker, they'll love the music for this because the music is it's own nutcracker twist. The first anime I've watched to get me back into it is Fruits Basket. I laughed, I cried, and I definatly learned a lot of morals from it. There are so many quotes to quote out of the series and it's short, so far. Only four DVDs. Every single one seems to make me cry. I mostly like the 2nd DVD, when Ha'ri shares his story about what happened with him and Kana. This series gives me hope when I need it sometimes, as pathetic as it sounds.

Why: I'm just taking a shot at it. =) I don't know ALL animes, but I know quite a few. :D You're fave animes: I'd have to say the series I like... Well, the one I really am in love with is DNAngel. I do love Fruits Basket and the adult swim nightly shows (InuYasha, Full Metal Alchemist, Samurai Champloo, Wolf's Rain, etc.). And I recently finished Hana Yori Dango (Boys Over Flowers) and Fushigi Yugi, too! I

Anime what is the first anime you watch? how does it impact on you?
hey_love replied to domyoji's topic in Otaku Central
Oh, I just finished Hana Yori Dango, aka Boys over Flowers. I fell in love with the stories. True, some scenes were a bit over dramatic, but it's just ever so kind. The first series I ever watched in my whole life was Sailor Moon, because it was on television. But after 6 years of not really watching anime, the series that got me into it was Fruits Basket, the anime. I watched the whole series about three years ago, and it made me cry so many time. Such as the time when
Ha'ri lost his sight in his left eye because of Akito being angry of him falling in love
or such as the time when
Kyou's true form was recognized and it was the last three episodes of season one. When Tohru didn't know what to do anymore and you found out more about Kazuma's past and the grandfather of his being the last person who was possessed by the spirit of the jealous cat.
I cried, I laughed. I think Fruits Basket is such a good series. Right now, I'm reading the manga Full Moon: O Sagashite. So good. So sad. I cried while reading it! I'm such a sap. :animesigh -
Anime If you could be in any anime or manga what would it be?
hey_love replied to HeartStopper's topic in Otaku Central
Most definatly DNAngel for one thing. I mean, I'd much rather take that obnoxious Risa's spot and be much less obnoxious and win Phantom Dark's heart all at once! :D Or maybe Prince of Tennis. I -
I'm not a big fan of Weird Al. It's just... He mocks a lot of things and songs and people, and I really find "Silly stupid music", as some people call it around my school, quite dumb and pointless. It just seems like his music has no meaning, no... this sounds stupid... soul of his put into it. I'm just not into it. That's my opinion though. :D

Hm, I listen to quite a big group of music. Right now, the band I'm most interested in is Panic! At the Disco. I really like their music. Other than that, I listen to Motion City Soundtrack, too. Lots of old music. And I like Frank Sinatra, too. Oh the classics. :D

Anime The perfect date with an anime character
hey_love replied to cruxisseraphim's topic in Otaku Central
I'd definatly say my dream date would be with Phantom Thief Dark Mousy from the series DNAngel. It'd be him taking me somewhere in his arms while he flies away with his black wings. :D LOVE! -
Anime What anime do you wish you never saw in the first place?
hey_love replied to serenayasha's topic in Otaku Central
I agree, the whole Dragonball series... I just don't like it. Sorry. Although, I watched the first dvd of Chance Pop Star Singers. It was the silliest thing I've ever watched. Bobobo bo bo bo bo is rather silly, too. I mean, the title alone! And sorry, I don't like Zatch Bell.
