Tsubasa. All that dimension traveling would be amazing, not to mention my traveling buddies. ^_~ -
Anime If you could be any anime character, who would you be?
bellpickle replied to Shadow Blade's topic in Otaku Central
God from Serial Experiments Lain. In all seriousness, Mad Hatter from Angel Sanctuary. I adore jester-like characters, and it would be interesting to become a jester as dark as the Hatter, if just for a short while. -
I was wondering if I could get a brief summary of what this is about?
Viz says it best: "Light Yagami is an ace student with great prospects - and he's bored out of his mind. But all that changes when he finds the Death Note, a notebook dropped by a rogue Shinigami death god. Any human whose name is written in the notebook dies, and now Light has vowed to use the power of the Death Note to rid the world of evil. But when criminals begin dropping dead, the authorities send the legendary detective L to track down the killer. With L hot on his heels, will Light lose sight of his noble goal... or his life." Basically, it's about killing criminals, and using intellect to get away with killing criminals.

Have you seen the gameplay videos over at Gamespot? They're filled with all sorts of hot Vergil action. *is also a shameless fangirl* Vergil's Dark Slayer style looks like loads of fun. It's like a combination of Trickster and a more elegant version of Swordmaster. I really, really cannot wait for this game!
So do you have to watch it in japanese to be a real fan?
The anime fandom isn't a private club. There are no regulations to joining, except to enjoy what you're watching.
And I congratulate anyone who manages to follow Viz's release and not get spoiled.
Thankfully, most Death Note fans on Livejournal know when to mark for spoilers. Though, I do know of THE spoiler from chapter 58. That one seems kind of unavoidable. :/ I also know of
Mello and Near, and that, at first at least, Near comes off as a fun-sized version of L.
Though, I've managed to avoid spoilers pertaining to anything else that might've happened. I plan on reading only the Viz releases, though who knows how long that will last. I mean, two months is a long time to wait. *fidgets*
Hmmm, I would have to say all the heartless in KH, the are everywhere.[/color']
Word. Note to Square: Button-mashing is not fun. At all. The red Enigmas from DMC3 annoy the heck out of me as well, because they usually appear in pairs or swarms, and are quite a bit more difficult to knock back than the normal Enigmas.

This is easily one of the best fanfics I've read, period. The amount of thought put into Itachi's character development is obvious. There are encounters that I've never even considered prior to reading this fanfic that now seem almost vital to Itachi's growth as a person. That is the mark of great writing, I think, when the work captures the very being of a character and runs with it. This is truly excellent work.

"And when Auron and Sora performed an interpretive dance during the cutscenes, Square realized they had extended Auron's cameo appearance for a little too long." -
I was once L'Arc~en~Ciel fanatic. For a year or so, I was so obsessed that I watched L'Arc~en~Ciel concert videos more than I watched anime or movies. I also attended the L'Arc~en~Ciel concert at Otakon 2004. (6th row, baby!) It's died quite a bit since then, but for the past couple years, my favorite L'Arc songs have been fate, Ibara no Namida, and glass dama. Honestly, I'm not a big fan of their newer releases.

I consider myself a fan of Nirvana, though I try to avoid all the hype surrounding them. They were a great band, but they certainly weren't epic nor were they the BEST BAND EVAR OMG!!1!111 And I don't think Nirvana was ever intended to be.

Sorry for grave-digging through old threads, but I was just wondering if anyone is planning to buy DMC3: Special Edition? The extras on that game look awesome. Playable Vergil, Jester Boss Battle, Bloody Palace mode, and more? For only $19.99? I'm totally there.

My pedestal anime is Rahxephon. The first time I viewed it, about two years ago, it got a somewhat lukewarm response from me, mostly because the last volume made no sense to me whatsoever. I rewatched the entire series about a year ago, and not only did the series as a whole make a lot more sense, but I appreciated the story and characters that much more because of it. Also, certain episodes had a greater emotional effect on me the second time around, surprisingly. However, my favorite anime is Naruto, though it's more for fandom reasons than the show itself.

Anime What anime/manga character would you go out with?
bellpickle replied to punk alchemist's topic in Otaku Central
The first character that came to mind was Sasuke from Naruto. I would never want to date him, mind you. He's far too emotionally wounded for my tastes. Though, I'd LOVE nothing more than to force him to watch some mediocre chick flick with me, and poke fun of him mercilessly throughout. (I'm a HUGE Sasuke fan. Really. I am.) As for actual dating, maybe L from Death Note. He's just so insightful that it would be terribly interesting just to have a conversation with him. It would never work out, but it sure would be a fascinating experience. -
Action games, for me, mostly because good action games are about pure skill, not what level your weapons are or how many healing items you have. My least favorite genre is Shooters, simply because I really, really suck at them.
Eliminating criminals for the greater good? Ruling over a perfect world? Does this remind anyone else of a certain Dictator or two?
Actually, I was thinking of how much of a fascist Light is just prior to posting this thread. XD Though, as L comments in the third volume, Light is different in that he slowly manipulates the public into agreeing with his cause, instead of using fear to force everyone to. Anyway, volumes 2 & 3 are really worth buying. After reading the first volume, I was afraid that the story might get old quick, but the writer has managed to keep it surprisingly fresh so far.

I have the Death Note itch, and I feel that I must drop everything I'm doing, and ramble about this manga. I'm a new fan, only a few weeks old, and I've been kicking myself over not having read this manga sooner. (I was aware of Death Note for ages, but didn't bother to read it until recently.) I've been really enjoying it so far. The concept alone is intriguing enough. Throw in the psychological mindgames, and you have a winner in my book. What I find most impressive is how complex the characters are. The writer knows her characters very well; considering how wordy Death Note is, character personalities play a pivotal role in plot progression, and personality is usually most fleshed out in dialogue and thoughts. The author does a great job of subtlely portraying the characters' personalities, sometimes through very careful wording or small quirks. (Such as L's habit of explaining everything in specific percentages, which is actually something I often do as well.) I also find the ambiguity and irony of Death Note fascinating. It's ambiguous in that there is no clear-cut hero or villain in this story, and ironic in that the characters fail to realize that. Or, they refuse to admit it, which seems to be the case with Light and L. In essence, both characters have similar shortcomings. By the end of the first volume, Light doesn't see his victims as humans anymore, just chess pieces. Same with L. Well, enough of my rambling! Just wondering what other fans think, both of what's been said on this post and general thoughts of the manga. (Note: Does anyone else find it amusing, how divided the fandom is over Light and L? I'm an L fan, by the way. ;))
