Zorro: "Luffy did WHAT to my rubber duck?" CRASH!! Luffy in wall... Zorro: "I swear to god...if you guys ever touch my rubber duck again...I'm gonna stick these swords where the sun don't shine...UNDERSTAND!!!" Usop/Chopper (crying like babies): "Ye..yes sir" nods heads together "we understand" Zorro: "Good...now go get a spatula and scrape Luffy off the wall, he's killing my appetite." Sorcerer Hunters...bad plot + over the top characters = One Big Guilty Pleasure
ethriel21, we want you to have discussions at Otakuboards. To make it easier, don't post such short, pointless posts. ie. Expand on your posts. You can do this by telling us why you think Sorcerer Hunters has a bad plot and over the top characters. Give us examples of this. Read the rules before continuing to post. If you have any questions, PM me or any of the other moderators. ~Aaryanna

I think I cried the most during the last half of Fushigi Yuugi...that show is sad, though it probably didn't help that I watched the entire series non-stop for three days, sensory overload. Oh and of course I cried at Chrono Chrusade...who wouldn't?

My recommedation would have to be Black Cat, which is being release by Funimation in December. I was at the first episode screening of it at Anime Fest and let me tell you it was amazing. Great animation and the plot seemed very good, Funimation also did a great job with the dub. Anyways here is a little plot summary taken from Anime News Network: The world is secretly controlled by a secret organizition, Chronos. Under the command of this mysterious organization, are the Chronos Numbers, a group of powerful assasins, taking orders to eliminate certain target secretly to keep the so-called 'peace'. One of the most powerful is the Number XIII, Train Hartnett. Train Heartnet is known as the Black Cat for his quick reactions to attacks. He is an unbeatable master gunman, a cold and unfeeling killer until he meets Saya, a bounty hunter, or "sweeper". She teaches him the value of a human life, and that one should live in order to repent for one's mistakes rather than die because of them. Through her, Train learns to love and care for other people as he too becomes a sweeper and travels with his partner Sven and the mysterious girl Eve.

i guess that i might be one of the few who found IGPX disappointing....and i was so hyped when it first came out...i had seen the 5 min ovas that had aired years before and loved them, but the only thing i liked about the series were the mecha's. i found the plot to be seriously lacking and i had a hard time connecting with a main character who put himself above his team and whined all the time...though he was pretty, lol

Ok I'm going to try this again... Sob...I really hate to do this old friend but that new 52" plasma screen was to good to pass up. You understand right? I am so sorry...sob
I think the idea of an "improv dub" is actually pretty interesting, but it would have been better to try out the idea with a show that was a parody/comedy series to begin with. ~Dagger~
I would probably have to agree with you there. It would have been more appropriate to improv on a show that was actually meant to be funny. The original plot line is interesting and the animation is good, but the show hadn't done spectacular even in Japan. I attended a OniCon this October where they screened a couple of the episode off of the first vol. Greg Ayres and Monica Rial were there to explain what had been done with the show and why. It is my understanding from that panel that ADV didn't believe that the show would have much of a following here in the US, so they wanted to try this without stepping on too many toes, so to speak. Though if they had provided a regular dub to go along with the revised one it would have cost alot more money and might not have made it back. But it might have made true fans of the show happier. :animeswea Not to imply that that doesn't matter. I believe the show would have been good either way, though it might not have gotten as much attention. Which does help the series out in a way...I would have never heard of it without the hype that it has gotten, as it is an oddity, and spawns discussion. Isn't that kinda how you tell the worth of a show...if it causes you to think. Whether you like the dub or not we are still talking about it...bad or good. Oops I went all philosical. I hate when I do that. ;)
Ghost stories sub = :) Ghost Stories dub = :( I don't like what ADV did with the dub. What makes it particularly irritating for me is that a lot of people excuse the improv dub by ripping on the original version of the show. Well, gee--it wasn't originally meant to be funny, and it's not some kind of Japanese Scooby-Doo. I really want to give a good braining to whoever first came up with that simile. I was excited about Gakkou no Kaidan before I learned about its special treatment. It's from a director whose work I enjoy (Noriyuki Abe), and in addition to him, it shares a couple of other cast members with one of my favorite mystery anime, Detective Academy Q. It even features similar character designs. At the time, I'd read a lot of positive comments about the series in general. ~Dagger~
Well, I am glad that I have stirred up some interest...good or bad. But as everyone agrees whether you like one show one way or it another depends on your prefrences. I actually like the show both ways. What I think ADV was trying to do here was give us fans something different and see how we react. If you don't like the dub it really isn't that big of a deal because you can still watch the subtitled version. What is, I am understanding, what alot of people do anyways. I completely agree that the show is completely off course when it comes to how it was originally meant to be. Maybe it wasn't meant to be funny but I know that when I put it in I am not in for any surprises, no twisted plot lines, and no hard thinking. It is a show I watch when I am just wanting something to make me laugh. If I wanted something else wouldn't have spent my money on it. Thanks for your interest... :catgirl:

Anime If you could be any anime character, who would you be?
ethriel21 replied to Shadow Blade's topic in Otaku Central
If I could be any anime character around I think I would like to be Kanami from Full Metal Panic. One because she is a strong willed, intelligent women with great leadership skills. Not to mention the fact that she is super hot tempered and cute. Two, because she has awesome abilities that let her control that cool submarine. Now if I could be anyone from a manga I would be Majin from King Hell. I like him because he is a master samurai trapped in a kids body and he deals with it so well. Lol, if you call beating every one up dealing with it. :animesmil -
Well, I would have to say my favorite anime is Trigun. It has everything a good anime should have action, comedy, a crazy plot, and pycopathic killers. Lets all give a round of applause for Trigun....lol.

I have only recently started watching Naruto on Cartoon Network. I think it is a great show, a little slow and drawn out, but still a good show. The animation is great and since I am a dub fan I think the acting is stellar. I have watched alot worse. I would have to say my favorite character is Kakashi, Naruto just plain gets on my nerves. But I guess that is his charm for most people. :catgirl: Anyways its a great show and truly enjoyable.

Ok, my name is Jessica and I am currently living in Oklahoma. I am 23, a secretary, and am working towards my degree in Communications. I want to be a publist. I enjoy going to anime conventions (don't do cosplay though), scuba diving (I'm double certified), hunting, and reading sci-fi & history stories. Hmm, what else? Oh, I have 2 sisters and 2 brothers, and 2 nieces. Well, I guess thats all. :catgirl:
