Originally posted by Raiha Mmm, have you ever done cross country? I do it with my mother every winter, and afterwards, we are sore and victorious. Mostly because cross country is one of the hardest snow involved activities you can do, besides shoveling it. There's no major slope, just flat land you have to push yourself through. You want a challenge? Cross country is a challenge. Thank you.
Pshhh! You think that cross country skiing is difficult? Try cross country snow boarding, hopping all that distance is insanly intense! :p I have never been skiing or snow boarding, although I have ridden my sled standing up on several wicked hills :p I actually plan on learning how to snow board late fall/early winter. There are plenty of mountians and tons of snow here in Ohio, so I guess nothing is stopping me.

I thought this was going to be about priests molesting children or a similar horrible topic...but its about them wearing black! Sheesh, it seems as though the most evil thing that priests are accused of is being Swiss...
Originally posted by PiroMunkie I would say my main priest question is why is that that some priests smoke, wear leather jackets, and have nice cars? But that is an entirely different topic.
'cause God told them they could, duh...
Originally posted by GoKents One, this is a voluntary with draw from other schools. Two, this "gay school" is only availible to students who are openly gay.
Although I agree with nearly everything you said, I would like to point out that the director of the school said that anyone can be placed on the waiting list for the school, but gay/lesbian/bi/transexual children are given priority. I tdoesn't make it right, but that is what is going on.
You're taking it a bit too far there, Crimson Spider. Gay people's rights are just coming in, and people are still protesting against it. Gays don't have nearly as much rights as straight people do.
While I agree that Crimson Spider's post is incredibly ignorant, I don't think that gays are lacking too many rights (although they should be allowed to adopt kids and recieve marriage tax breaks) I just think that they are heavily persecuted and stereotyped. Although I'm probably mistaken...

I work out, without fail, four times a week (usually Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri or Sat). I hit the gym pretty hard, and lately I have been on a cardio kick because my diet isn't that great. I usually begin by seeing how fast I can bike three miles, this helps to raise my metabolism as well as loosen up the collogen in my knees (I have horrible knees). I have my workout broken into segments; on Tuesday I lift chest and back, on Wed. I lift shoulders and arms, on Thurs. I lift legs and on Friday or Saturady I do an upper body workout. I usually lift for about an hour and a half to two hours depending an the day. I follow up with a half hour jog/walk (I'm too out of shape to run for a half hour :p) I also do abs two or three times a week, although I've been trying to work those a bit harder lately.

Heh...I think it is funny how many people end this discussion with "oh, and I'm not gay"...sounds like there are plenty of cases of denial out there :p I was watching the Today Show this morning and I caught a little bit of the debate (obviously the conservative arguing the point was the typical extremist) and the gentleman debating for the school stated that both gay and straight people were allowed to enroll and that no one would be given special treatment in the enrollment process. Despite this, the best argument for the school is that it protects children from being harrassed. This bothers me. I believe that there are so many different groups of people harrassed in high school that most of the gay people on the recieving end would be harassed for one reason or another. Segragating a population is never the correct thing to do. Although it may provide a safe haven for kids that are constantly bullied it doesn't help to create an accepting enviornment in our public school system.
Originally posted by wrist cutter I'd just like to note that is not where I am coming from... I just thought, since this thread seems to be pretty one-sided so far, I'd bring up something from what I think would be the other side. I dunno. Because I'm pretty much in agreement with most of what is being said here.
No, I understood what you meant...I knew that you were trying to play devils advocate. Unfortunatly, I didn't make it clear that I knew what you meant...:P
Originally posted by Jubei Yagyou Whoa smart people here. Anyway, what I said is kinda like boys cant go to girls scout and girls can go to boys scout ((not like they want to)) But there is another problem with that type of thing in hockey, you get the picture. But I think its morally right to leave the gay school alone cuz maybe they cant pay for a private school cuz their parents hate them for being gay ((And for the record Im not gay))
My parents hate me for being me but they never made a "special" school for me...(actually my parents love me but you get my drift) You are reffering to a private organization when you refernce the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. If a private school was created specifically for gays I would have no problem, however, a public school should not be exclusive to gender/race/sexual preference...
Originally posted by Change It should get the same kind of Federali money that porochial schools get.
They shouldn't recieve any funding. Segragation in public school is unconstitutional. What does porochial school have to do with public schooling and segragation? Porochial schools are tax exempt, they don't recieve much (if any) funding from the government.
Originally posted by wrist cutter But since gays are so discriminated against nowadays they need a "safe place". Just thought I should provide a view from the other side of the argument.
I understand where you are coming from, unfortunatly segragating a set population, even with the consent of that set population, only helps to feed hate and bigotry. People need to come to terms with the fact that no one person is like the next...
Originally posted by Taylor Hewitt Erm are you forgetting. Girls only schools don't expect all the girls to like each other. Unless they are not... straight. But in gay schools the whole school will be attracted to eachother. Unless you throw in some of each gender. Whoa i'm starting to get confused :p
Taylor, that is the most illogical thing that I have ever heard...peolpe aren't attracted to someone because of that persons sexual preference, they are attrcted due to individual attributes. I don't understand how a public school could get away with this. I'd understand if it was a private school (although I wouldn't agree), however, I don't understand how segregating a population helps to solve any problem.
Originally posted by maladjusted Manic: Lol...I was watching this "The History of Anime" on the Animatrix DVD, and this man was talking about how Japanese animators knew how to 'cheat' their way into making the shows. I forogt how, though.
This got me thinking about DBZ, and how they ?cheat? in many of the fight scenes. Often in DBZ there is one set kicking and punching speed scene that is used over and over to fill time. The funny thing is, they tend to use the same scene in several consecutive episodes (especially in the Frieza saga)? As far as you anime ?purists? go?anime has done as much harm as good; for example, any anime that ends in ?mon? :p

Anime What is your favorite anime movie and Why?
Heaven's Cloud replied to Japan's topic in Otaku Central
Originally posted by SilpheedPilot Whats with everyone and Akira?! No one can appreciate that Movie...and trust me, when you say you do..You dont...Anyways..My favorite and why.. -------------------------------
Actually, I am positive that know how to appreciate Akira. I am not sure if you are trying to take a ?holier than thou? attitude, but I don?t enjoy being snubbed, especially by someone who doesn?t give any true reason why we don?t ?adequately? appreciate Akira. It seems to me that you just stated the obvious. That being said, Akira is one of my favorite animes. I think I like it just because it was the first cartoon that I saw that was really a true science fiction movie. Another movie that I really like is Ninja Scroll. I absolutely love the artwork in this film, especially the background. I think this movie has incredibly crisp animation and it is full of adventure, horror, and it has quite an interesting love story? -
Anime Anime episodes: shaken or stirred?
Heaven's Cloud replied to AzureWolf's topic in Otaku Central
I enjoy suspense more than anticipation. The first time I watch a series, I never watch the previews for the following episode. I think that every now and again those previews tend to spoil the actual episode. If I am ?re-watching? a series I will then go back and watch the previews. Some shows, such as Hellsing, have really funny and bizarre previews? -
I am pretty sure that Fozzie is the Muppet bear and Fonzie is that guy from Happy Days that over used the ?Ayyy? catch phrase. I always thought that the coolest Sesame Street Muppets were Oscar the Grouch and Mr. Snuffalapogus (I have no idea if I spelled that right :p)

I can help! I speak Idiotese...
i say way not its a hars show to understand
Translation: "I do not think so, it is a hard show to understand" In reply to the original question, I think that there are quite a few animes better than Big O...but theOtaku.com is its own entity, and I think that Adam should continue building it in any manner that he sees fit...

Well, I once bought a bunch of B.S. from a guy...I should have come here, I could've got it for free... I have a really bad tendancy of going to Borders every other night and buying coffee and books...I've wasted a couple hundred bucks on coffee alone this year.
