Okay, maybe I was slightly exaggerating. It's one of my favorite soundtracks, at least. I never claimed for it to be great or not cheesy, but I still enjoy many of the songs in the game. That better? Query, have you played Sonic the Hedgehog 4 at all? From what I've heard, that was what was meant to bring Sonic back to his former glory, as opposed to this. That's not to say this won't be any good, but I've just not heard Colors being touted as "the return to the roots" as I have for 4. [People are pitching a fit to the contrary, natch, but...that's the Sonic fandom for you.]

Anime Cartoon Network Line-Ups...and anime on television announcements
Sangome replied to Syk3's topic in Otaku Central
I hardly watch much TV anymore, period, but the last time I ever willingly tuned into CN/AS was when FMA: Brotherhood was on, and even that I grew bored of down the line. I think the last anime series I watched to completion on AS was both seasons of Code Geass, which lasted through 08/09. Compare that to years past when I watched nearly every anime on there to completion. The one thing that particularly bugs me, though, is the fact that they said they acquired three anime series at the beginning of the year, of which we've only seen two [FMA:B and Kekkaishi]. Where's our third one? People were speculating it to be either Inuyasha: The Final Act or Soul Eater, and I wanna see if either of those are true. Unless they already announced it and I just wasn't paying attention? -
I loved both of the Adventure games. 2 actually has my favorite game soundtrack of all time. But I digress. I played the DS demo of Colors last week and was really impressed. The Wii version looks like something I'd enjoy more, though.
I don't get why they always recycle the same avatars though. In the games they turned Mimiru into Black Rose, Bear into Orca, Tsukasa into Elk, etc. Now they're turning Kite and Black Rose and Balmung into different people too? Hasn't this been happening for a while? (I wouldn't know, I only read one of the Legend of the Twilight books where Kite and Black Rose became Shugo and Rena, but at least they averted the rehashing with some kind of contest excuse...)
Well, when you consider that The World is an MMORPG, the same classes are bound to repeat themselves, and that includes the character designs. I'm not saying it's an excuse for alleged laziness, but it makes sense when you think about it that way. Also, if you ever watch Roots or play the G.U. games, you'll know that the main characters in those aren't recycled from Kite/BlackRose/Elk/what have you. Some of those characters/designs are still there to a degree [which I can't really get into without spoiling, plus I still need to play through the third game myself anyway], and two of the characters share the same character class/model from The World R:2 [and it's a plot point], but other than that, the designs in Roots and G.U. are nearly 100 percent original.

Well, I'm known to my friends as "the gamer friend", so true to my title, I play video games a lot. When I'm not doing that, I'm either bumming around on the internet, talking with my friends, or all at the same time. Oddly, despite the section I moderate, I rarely watch anime anymore. That used to be a free time thing for me as well, but I can't really find anything that interests me much now in that field.
-
That would be pretty nifty if it could appeal to a broader audience, but if the franchise is apparently winding down, then wouldn't that be a bit too late? Although I suppose if enough interest was generated, then the series could continue.

Engrish sounds just as silly, y'know. And honestly, I had no idea that was how the word "chibi" was pronounced. But I also don't particularly care, so.

I think it's what happens when you merge two threads, but forget to change the name of the thread back to the original thread it was supposed to be merged with. Or something. So yeah. Oopsie? I'd change it myself, but this doesn't fall under my jurisdiction, sooo. But I see it's been taken care of, so s'all good now I guess.

Few minor nitpicks that maybe you can iron out for future podcasts;

Korey was muffled, kinda difficult to hear.
The music was a little overpowering. Don't get rid of it, it adds a definite atmosphere, but maybe quiet it down next time.
And that's about it, complaint-wise. As for Chibi's voice, all I could think of was "HOLY CRAP, IT'S CAITLIN GLASS! Seriously Chibs, you sound so much like her. It's kinda scary, actually. [The Pokemon Center jingle before her segment was awesome, too. <3] And bah, I'm a proud non-member of the Desbreko fanclub. Put that in your textbox and type it. "Let's talk about CaNz!" "NOOO" *snerk* Great first podcast, guys! You guys make a really good team! I snickered quite a bit, especially at Boo's impression of Des. XD

I've been really spazzy with my gaming lately, so I'll try to sum up my most noteworthy playthroughs of recent weeks. Super Mario Sunshine - Finally got a working copy of this a month or so ago, and replayed it. Even if it's the "black sheep" of the platformers, I still love it to death. It's probably my favorite Mario platformer behind Super Paper Mario. And speaking of Paper Mario, I played through the original a week or two ago and beat it yet again. It's not as good as what would follow, but it's still very good and very fun. Xenosaga III - I love this series, but I have a weird relationship with it -- I've never beaten any of the games. However, I find the third [and sadly final] installment the easiest to get into of the three, so I restarted that. And MAN have I become addicted all over again. The atmosphere's just great, the characters are all awesome, and ufdhgsjkgfhksdjsh I just love it. Makes me sad the series was cut in half. If I can get my paws off Xeno III here soon, I'm going to finally start up Dragon Quest VIII. I've had it for years and have heard many good things about it, so I figured I'd give it a go. ...Well, another go, technically, since I played maybe an hour or so before getting stuck on a boss. But I really need to give it a fair shake, so.

I'm pretty cool with Chibi being Gary, provided she doesn't suddenly transform into Silver.

While I agree that Ed was quite a brat in the original, Al never really came off as "whiny" to me. I know he had that one deal where he freaks out about Ed potentially fabricating his memories, but outside of that, I don't really remember any time where he whined. And even then, he hadn't even hit puberty when he was bound to the suit of armor, so he was still very mentally immature. Anyway, as I have said on multiple occasions, I'm in the minority; I prefer the original anime over Brotherhood and the manga. And I really could not tell you why. I acknowledge the character development and the fact that the story is better, since it had more time to develop, but...they just have not been able to hold my interest as much as the first series did. I got bored of the manga sometime after
true!Pride
was introduced, and I had a hard time keeping focused on Brotherhood once the Xingians rolled around. Maybe it's my overall decrease in interest of most anime, I dunno. But I just can't get into Brotherhood/the manga; I will probably always prefer the original.

James has it on the dot; most Wii titles aren't really that motion-intensive. I can understand not wanting to jump around and flail like an idiot for hours on end, but most Wii games consist of nothing more than a flick and twist of the wrist, if that. A lot of them even resort to the classic NES controller style of gameplay. As for the Kinect and Move, eh. The Kinect reminds me of the EyeToy the PS2 had, which was fun when I was little, but otherwise would get old rather quickly. And I still say the Playstation Move is a Wiimote spraypainted black with a ball stuck on top of it. [I don't even have a PS3, anyway, so.]

Well my goodness. If it's any consolation to you, that specific game [Specter's Flute] has no announcement of a US release, whereas the game following it does, so who knows. All I know is that the unlockable is a 100-hour simulation RPG [simulating what, though, I don't know], and it takes place in the Laytonverse. Anyway, I could try to convince you to give the series a shot, but I'm really bad at explaining things, so I suggest maybe reading up on the series yourself if you want to give it a go. ON TOPIC I'm still really, REALLY curious as to what the gameplay is going to be like. As tantalizingly beautiful that animated trailer is, it doesn't really elaborate on what the gameplay is going to be like. [s]Unless this just turns out to be a giant movie, which...I'm not sure if I'd be frustrated or not if that were the case[/s]

I disagree; I enjoy replaying the Ace Attorney games every once in awhile to freshen my memory, notice stuff I never noticed before, etc. Then again, I play games more for their stories and characters, so. [I've also never sold or traded a game. I've given some away, yes, but never sold or traded.] As for if the Layton series has replay value, well, yes and no. I've not replayed the first two games yet [and I still need to get my mitts on the third], but there's still stuff to unlock and puzzles to play, even after beating the game. The fourth game evidently has a full-fledged Animal Crossing-esque RPG after you beat the initial game, so there's definitely something to be had there.

young!Luke seems to point towards this taking place sometime within the second trilogy of Professor Layton games, which, if they're going for any sort of canon at all, kinda gives us a good idea of when the Layton series takes place. Although, at the same time, it looks like this takes place in the past, especially since "witch trials" are involved...so who knows. In any case, I am excite. The prerelease art looks gorgeous, and even makes the western/European-inspired art of Prof. Layton and the obvious anime style of Ace Attorney blend very well. I'm really interested in seeing what the actual gameplay looks like. Two things need to happen for this game to be perfect, though: 1. Maya and Luke need to form an inter-generational friendship as a duo of awesome assistants. It'd be totally awesome and completely adorable. 2. [s]Edgeworth. I don't care if he's already going to be in a second Ace Attorney Investigations, WE NEED FULLY-VOICED EDGEWORTH KTHXBAI[/s] That's another thing I'm interested in; assuming this is fully-voiced, I'm wondering who all will be casted for all the potential Ace Attorney characters, doubly so [s]if[/s] when this game comes overseas. EDIT: High quality trailer, three minutes long! I think I felt a tear in my eye.

So Nintendo had their annual press conference tonight. We should get this thread a-goin' again. What game am I anticipating now? Two words and a number: Megaman Legends 3. That is all. ----------------- Okay Nintendo, seriously. Been watching Chuggaaconroy's Super Mario Sunshine LP the past few days, after replaying it myself myself recently. Great, great fun, although he can get kind of loud at times.

Extreme morbid curiosity made me dust off my ancient Crunchyroll account [made back when anyone could upload anything] and give this a shot. The art style was obviously the main draw, and even though I am not one for base, crude, overly-sexual humor, I figured I'd ignore it and enjoy the visuals, and maybe I'd wind up enjoying the show anyway. Well, someone on ANN's forums summed it up well; if someone wrapped up poop in a nice, pretty wrapping paper and gave it to me, I'd still wind up complaining about the poop. The visuals are awesome and the music is killer, but the crude humor just tries WAY too hard. I mean, on the one hand, it's kinda nice to have an unapologetic anime, but it was almost like the director went "HEY! Let's throw in any offensive/shocking material we can possibly think of, give no particular reason for it, and call it a show!"
You know, just like Family Guy. Though to P&S's credit, I'd sooner watch this over FG.
I dunno. Maybe I'll give it one more episode, but I feel morally bankrupt each time I do watch it, so no guarantees. At least it [or the fans] gave me this to jam to in the meantime.

This little ditty, as the title screen says, is Samurai Pizza Cats, and possibly the first anime I ever actually saw. It was originally a simple kid's show in Japan, but when it was licensed for release over here [apparently on the heels of the Ninja Turtles movement], Saban was either given a horribly translated script or no script at all. Their solution? To write their own script from the ground up. Nowadays, that would typically be met with furious ire, but back then, no one cared. And even today, it's regarded as actually being vastly superior to the original Japanese version, with the directors going as far as saying that the original is inferior, and the English dub is "what [they] should have written to begin with". That entire paragraph up there was written based on what knowledge I have now, many years after having initially seen it [and from looking it up just now to post it here], as I only have the vaguest of vague memories about it. It ran on a local WB! station here when I was around seven years old, and eventually stopped airing around the middle of the year . Although, considering what other series would air on the same station the following year, quietly pulling it may have been for the best. But I digress. As far as I know, this show got no completed release on VHS or DVD; according to Wikipedia, the most it got were the first 20 episodes released on Japanese VHS, although apparently a DVD set claiming to be the first boxset turned up on Amazon back in '07. I know if I saw this show now, I'd probably appreciate it a lot more than I did when I was a youngin', given the snappy, shameless puns, numerous references to other media, and, of course, a nonexistent fourth wall. I could probably go hawking for episodes on Youtube, but I'd still love to physically own some episodes one of these days, however impossible that may be.
