Dr. Google brings up this on eBay, though I question how "official" it really is, since I've never heard of such a thing before. Can anyone confirm it? Other alternatives that you can try [if you haven't already] are either the Wii Classic Controller or a GCN controller. Both work for anything off the Virtual Console, although to what degree varies with the game. For example, the button layout on the GCN controller makes running and jumping in Super Mario RPG at the same time really awkward, while the Classic controller handles it just fine -- whereas in Ocarina of Time, the game is darn near impossible to control with the Classic, but the GCN works relatively well. However, if you ever happen to want to play a GCN game with the Classic controller, it won't work, so keep that in mind.

A rumor about Xenogears that I've personally heard isn't that it ran out of funds, per se, but that those funds either got resourced to someone else, or cut entirely in favor of someone else...that "someone else" being Final Fantasy VIII. Anyway, I need to get back into the LP-watchin' scene, myself, though I have been following ProtonJon's Superman 64 LP. Even though the guy got famous for screaming at Kaizo Mario World, his specialty really shines in how he explains why a game fails in the technical and aesthetic terms, not just "omg this game sux coz i said so lol". He's also pretty funny while doing it, and he's got a nice voice to listen to, so I definitely recommend his work. I also need to resume reading Zorak's Pokemon Quartz screenshot LP. It's a romhack of Pokemon Ruby, with a really bad Spanish-to-English translation. The trainer and Pokemon sprites are entirely made by the ROMhacker, which in theory is pretty darn impressive, but the "Pokemon" themselves are...just...really ugly for words sometimes. The whole thing itself is just really surreal, but Zorak makes trudging through it a little less painful.

I watched the series in Japanese, so I can't give a solid opinion, but from the samples I've heard, I like it. Wendee Lee's casting makes sense when you realize that they were going for the actor allusion present in the Japanese version [with Aya Hirano voicing both Konata and Haruhi Suzumiya], since Wendee Lee also voiced Haruhi Suzumiya in that series' dub. I don't remember the main cast's voices all that well, but I also know that I didn't have any problems with 'em. I also recall Akira's being pretty much perfect, as well. The one dub voice that I, along with many others, really dislike, though, is that of Patricia Martin's. [Depending on where you are, you probably haven't seen her yet...I don't remember offhand when she first appears]. I rarely complain about a lot of dub voices, if ever, but hers is REALLY grating and annoying. Although, once the fridge brilliance sets in and you recall that Patricia is an American weeaboo, it makes one wonder if it was intentional... That's another thing I'd like to add about LS, though; I found it immensely more enjoying once it expanded past the main cast of four, and brought their other classmates into the mix. Konata's little cousin, Yutaka, is easily my favorite character from the show, too. And I actually watched an anime yesterday!! I watched the Pokemon episode "The Heartbreak of Brock", from Johto League Champions, on Pokemon.com! It's one of my favorite episodes. ;3; So funny.

I used to be in the "I vehemently hate Lucky Star" camp for a good, long while. I had watched the first two episodes, and immediately got turned off, due to the infamous first episode, and the second not really up to snuff. I think I remember trying to get through episode three before just...quitting. Then, a couple years later, a feeling washed over me that I should really try it again. It was mainly fueled by my then-recent playthrough of Tales of the Abyss [the last stretch of which is rather depressing], and I needed a pick me up. So I swallowed my pride, tried to watch more...and was instantly hooked. As for why I like it, it's not the cuteness. For me, there was just something oddly relaxing about this show. No world to save, no "OMG THIS BOY HATES ME BUT I'LL WIN HIS HEART" drama, none of that. Just a rather relaxing, good natured, good humored show. Being able to see myself and my friends in the characters probably helped a lot, though, I will admit. I'll also admit that it's definitely a polarizing, love-it-or-hate it series, especially considering I went from hating it to loving it. The most I encourage is for people to get past the first four episodes [for that's when the directors were changed, IIRC], and if people don't like it after that, then they probably will not like it at all. And that's fine, I can understand completely. I do agree with Lilt, though, how they managed to stretch it out for 24 episodes [and an OVA] for its first go around is beyond me [although I'm not necessarily complaining]. That said, I'm really surprised that no one's jumped at the call for a season two. It was immensely popular, and the manga's still ongoing, and given how many series get milked, the fact that LS hasn't is kinda strange.

Been awhile since I really sat down and played Dissidia, so I dunno. I enjoyed the voice work in Dissidia, though, so there's no real reason for me to want to turn it off. :V Anyway, this is interesting. I do know they're not doing the primary protagonist v. primary antagonist thing this time around, though, so I'm rather curious about that.

I'm just still kind of bemused at the announcement. It's easily one of the most out of left field announcements I've heard in quite some time. But, other than that, I'm not too excited for the reasons you already stated. [That, and nothing can really top the announcement of Megaman Legends 3 for me.]

Yeah, the Professor Layton series is great. I decided to purchase the first game in the middle of my first semester at college [...wow, has it really been that long ago?] to help me through it, and I fell in love with it. Shin hit the nail on the head, really; the characters are lovable, the music's great, the art style is fantastic, and the plots, even if they're just giant excuses to play through puzzles, are really well-done. Everyone I've recommended the series to has loved it, so I strongly suggest you check it out. And this just makes me want to play Unwound Future that much more. asfgsfghdg --- Still mucking around on Lunar Legend, albeit rather slowly. Just got to reveal numero uno that
Ghaleon
is the big bad, and...I forgot what I was doing after that. I think I was on my way to Mel's place in Meribia. And the other day I decided to fire up Tales of Symphonia for the first time in years for a replay. The game is fun; not the best ever by any means, but still a nice ride, so I figured I'd play through it again. I haven't played it since then [been busy], but I will here in a bit. Last I remember, I was at Dirk and Lloyd's house, just before Colette and friends
bolt, leaving him behind
, so I'm not too far in it yet.

Oh! Sorry, no, I meant that there was still the possibility that the C&D itself was fake, not the games. I was initially skeptical given how much 2ch likes to screw around with western fans, and this sort of thing isn't above its western expy's brand of antics, either. But those're seeming less and less likely now that this is apparently real.
-
Eh? I don't follow; the C&D is on Pokemon's official Japanese site? Edit: PokeBeach has gone into detail about the fiasco; I guess the issue isn't about ROMs after all. So I do apologize for jumping the gun, but now this ordeal is just giving me a giant headache.
This makes it sound like this measure is going to end up resulting in exactly what Nintendo was trying to prevent in the first place by implementing it.
Oh, I'm aware.
As for me, I'm just kind of baffled as to why they feel the need to do this now. Posting screenshots, sprites and the like hasn't been a problem for the last four generations, why is it suddenly detrimental to their income now? It's not like Serebii is handing out free ROMs to every visitor of their site. He's doing exactly what he did for the last two major Pokémon releases and probably more before that. It's not like seeing one cool screenshot is going to suddenly make you decide you don't even need to play this game anymore because you've already been satisfied by the one screenshot.
It's because of the aforementioned admitted ROM usage. WPM/PokeBeach openly admitted to using a ROM, and it was shortly after that that they received the C&D. Had he not openly admitted that, then Nintendo wouldn't have had a legal leg to stand on. I guess no one futzed up and admitted ROM usage beforehand. late edit: Also, the fact that this could possibly be a very elaborate hoax hasn't entirely been ruled out yet. Just keep that in mind.
-
Thing is, all they're taking down are screenshots. Small pictures. It's not worth getting in a tizzy over. If people want visuals that bad, they can either download the ROM themselves, import, or wait 'til the game is released in their language. Screenshots are still fairly easy to find, too, so people are blowing this up way bigger than it really is. That said, the webmaster of PokeBeach admitted that he used a ROM before he actually obtained the game; Serebii admitted to using PokeBeach's screencaps for his coverage [but it's also been proven that he had a ROM, too; he ran into an anti-piracy measure that has since been fixed]. Had he kept his mouth shut, Nintendo legally could not have done a thing. Yeah, most fansites use ROMs for screencaps, BUT they have a legal copy of the game on top of that, precisely to avoid this sort of situation. Plus, no one said that this was going to last forever. Once WPM of PokeBeach stops acting like a spoiled brat, they'll probably reach some sort of agreement to where they can host screenshots from B/W again. So, just hang tight, folks.

There actually is a Fire/Ghost line in this gen [607-609], although it's not a starter. I had pretty much decided from the getgo that Tsutaja/Tsutarja/Smugleaf would be my starter, which has held up since I've seen the evos. I love its final stage. What gets my goat is that there's still no Dark-type gym; they've rationed that off to an Elite Four member yet again. The thing that intrigues me the most so far, though?
Apparently, Belle, your female rival, is the Champion. I...honestly did not expect that.

Bumping this since information is slowly starting to trickle in.
Yuri Lowenthal and Liam O'Brien voice characters in the game
asdfghjklkjhgfdsdfghjkjhgfg I'm not going to ask who they voice since I wanna be surprised, but UGH I WANT THIS GAME EVEN MORE NOW. Anyway, I've been replaying the Subspace Emissary on Brawl recently, for the heck of it. It's fun, but I do feel like some more could be done with it. Oh well. [s]Right now I'm flailing around the Research Facility with Zero Suit Samus and Pikachu...and I'm hopelessly lost. Derp.[/s] Edit hours later: whoops nevermind; I did get past it.

Yeah, I'm with Kei; pretty sure this is fanmade. It's not entirely out of the question -- there is a fanmade Megaman movie, after all, and let's not forget IGN's Legend of Zelda live action movie trailer released on April Fool's Day some years ago, which some people still think is real. But yeah. Pretty convincing, I must say, but probably fake.

Last I heard, it was suspended. It's...better than the other alternative, right? Well, anyway. I hate what he's doing, as a Christian and as a member of the US that greatly supports tolerance of other religions and beliefs. I'm glad it's suspended at the very least; hopefully he'll just forget about it as time moves on or something. But yeah, I second eleanor. No matter what his motives, this guy blatantly wanted attention, and by gum the media was more than willing to give it to him. Am I surprised? Of course not. Am I still greatly annoyed at, well, everything? You bet. I wish the media would stop blowing stuff up like this just because they're bored on a slow news day, but I suppose that's a little too much to ask at this rate.

Lunar Silver Star/Silver Star Story/Legend/whatever: I've had the GBA port of this since about... 2002/3/4? Anyway, I played it to the end...and never beat it. Then a couple years ago, I restarted, and got stuck. NOW I'm giving it a third shot. And I must say, it's still really fun. The characters are all really awesome, the graphics are nice and colorful, and the music's good. I haven't played in a few days, though; last I remember, I believe I was at Lann, and had did the whole deal with the fake Dragonmas--OH THAT'S RIGHT, I REMEMBER, I had to go rescue
Mia's mom...Lemia, I think?
That's where I left off. Pokemon HeartGold: Been falling back into the Pokemon groove the past couple of weeks [really excited for Black and White eeee], so I decided to pick this back up. And man...I hardly remember anything, despite it being a remake of my favorite game[s] in the series. I wanna go through the story again, but since Pokemon's notorious for only having a single game slot, I kinda can't unless I wanna lose all my Pokes. [I'd restart my Crystal, but I don't wanna lose my uberstrong Pokemon, completed Pokedex, and general childhood memories and nostalgia...] I'm half tempted to save up for SoulSilver now, I really am. ANYWAY, I've finally caught all the Legendaries that I can before beating Red. And of course, when I went to fight Red, I could barely get an attack in edgewise before getting fed up. It's gonna be awhile before I fight him, provided I don't get a sudden urge to levelgrind [which is entirely possible].

I went out to eat, and ate 'til I nearly exploded. Then I got home and I was hungry an hour later. [And before you ask, no, it was not Chinese food. I think I have superpowered stomach acid that digests my food way too quickly or something.]

I kinda stopped taking X-Play seriously once it became obvious [and they later admitted such] that Adam and Morgan don't always play the games they review, and I question whether their writers have, too. Their Tales of the Abyss review comes to mind in particular. [Why they keep making them review JRPGs when it's obvious they have it out for them is beyond me.] Anyway, I've only played small portions of Metroid here and there, but this one actually has me interested quite a bit. I think it's because it's actually got a focus on story, which is more than welcome from me. Also, Samus, from female to female, keep that short hair! You look really cute with it~

Anime Cartoon Network Line-Ups...and anime on television announcements
Sangome replied to Syk3's topic in Otaku Central
I'd also like to add that putting FMA on hiatus is not something new to them -- the original series had the exact same thing happen around the midway point, where I assume Brotherhood is around right now [haven't watched it in a few weeks, myself]. Though, I just realized that we're about due for their third anime announcement. Remember back earlier in the year when they hinted at licensing three series? I think September is when the third and final one was to be announced.
