To be honest, I really dislike talking about college, mainly 'cause I've changed majors a good three times now, I'm still not sure what to do with my life, and I'm stuck at home while all I ever hear about are how AWESOME!!!!!! people's campus lives are. Anyway. I attend a local community college, still living at home. As I said, I've gone through three possible majors, general studies, and a weird limbo where I was just taking part time before I decided what the heck I wanted to do. I started with general studies, leaning towards occupational therapy. Simple enough, but the stress got to me and I had to cut down to part time. [And occupational therapy never really sounded interesting to me, anyway.] Then after about two semesters of that, I decided to go into psychology. But then I decided that I wouldn't want to do that either, as I'm not entirely sure I'd want the burden of a bunch of people's problems on my shoulders. While I'm sure I'd have been desensitized to it in due time...I'm not sure it's something I want to be desensitized to, y'know? Plus, I've been told I'd have to be good at math for stuff in psychology. AhahahahAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Still probably gonna take it as a minor, though, or at least continue taking psych classes. It's very good information to have. While I've not officially changed majors yet, I'm more than likely going to try creative writing as my major this time around. Although I'm kinda in the same situation as you, Tonks, 'cause I'm not sure where it'll get me, either, if anywhere. But it's a start, at least. As for transferring out into a university, I've got some that I've been knocking around in my head. It's probably going to be awhile before I can actually transfer, though.

Started off by spending time with my mom, dad & grandma. My dad cooked, but I didn't eat a lot of it. At least I have plenty of leftovers. :V Then I got a call from my friend asking if I wanted to go to a local fireworks display. I hadn't been to one in forever, so I decided "why not". Eventually dragged some other friends over, and we had a jolly good time. Then my bad ankle [which I twisted when I was 12] acted up. It hurts whenever there's a significant change in temperature. If it's really cold, it hurts. If it's really hot...I've found out that it hurts even worse. So we proceeded to hobble on back to one of their houses. And then my sandals broke. Then I bummed around at their house for awhile, and here I am. Been playing Wind Waker throughout the day as well, and now I'm borrowing Power Stone Collection for the PSP [which I remember playing in arcades], and Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, one of my favorite games of all time that I miss to death. So, it wasn't too bad.

Prayer, (you're form) for Chibi-Masters friend.
Sangome replied to Botar's topic in General Discussion
I just read the post in the PRP. I'm sorry that your friend is going through such a horrible time, Chibi. Continue to be there for her, encourage her to be strong, and tell her to take better care of herself. I will be keeping her in my prayers. -

Lately, all I've been doing are replays of games that I've not played through in a long time. I've been jumping back and forth between a lot of them, but thanks to The Speed Gamers's Summer of Zelda, I've been blazing through Wind Waker, which was my very first Zelda game back in the day. I started it up on Thursday; currently, I'm just about to go into the Earth Temple. I may or may not go around and chart all the islands like I did on my first completed file; I'm just more concerned with seeing how fast I can beat it. I forgot how much I loved this game, though. People love to hate on it for its cel-shaded graphics, but you know, it's still beautiful to look at, and a blast to play. Oh well. Haters gonna hate. Before that, I was working on my New Game+ for Tales of the Abyss, which I will probably be resuming before long. I left off with the crew ninjaing their way out of Baticul, shortly before Natalia joins your party. I know I'm about at the 25% point, since Akzeriuth will be my next destination, IIRC,
and we all know how that ended
. One of my goals with this TotA New Game+ is the Nebilim sidequest. I know the boss fight that it eventually culminates in is notoriously hard, but I really want to try. I think it'll be fun. Sort of. Maybe. Speaking of Tales, I might finally get off my patoot and play Tales of Legendia as well, and I'm even thinking about replaying Tales of Symphonia, as it's been years since I last played through that game. [I should probably get off my butt and play more of Vesperia, too...]

Noteworthy 'cause it contains an as-of-yet unrevealed fluffy bat lookin' Pokemon, and what appears to be the second stage evos of Mijumaru and Tsutaja. There's also what looks like a new Pokemon between the new girl and Jesse, but I have no idea.

Lilit, you absolutely must see this movie. I was ever so slightly skeptical if they would pull it off as beautifully as they did, but oh my GOSH it blew all my expectations clear out of the water. It's so worth it. It really is. Although I highly, highly suggest seeing the first two movies first. While they're not completely necessary for enjoying movie tres, most of the reactions here come from people who grew up with the first two movies. Pixar does a brilliant job of tailoring it to both newcomers and oldies alike, but it's really more enjoyable if you've seen the first two.
EDIT 2: I really need to start thinking of these ahead of time. I love how Ken and Barbie were animated. Those awkward, jerky robot movements perfectly conveyed how hard it would be to move around without knees and elbows. It's the little things that impress me the most sometimes.
Dude, Barbie herself kicked so much freakin' patoot! Patoot is a funny word. Anyway, she's probably one of my favorite characters from this movie. It was like this big conglomeration of all her past careers melded into one awesome super Barbie. Totally loved what Pixar did with her.
Anyone else looking forward to Monsters, Inc. 2 next year? I was apprehensive since we'll be getting three sequel movies three years in a row, but after TS3, there's no doubt in my mind that it'll be awesome. That said, I'm still pretty disappointed that Newt has apparently been canned, or at least delayed for the time being. Out of all the movies that they had announced back in...I think it was '08, that was the one I had looked forward to the most.

Anime Cartoon Network Line-Ups...and anime on television announcements
Sangome replied to Syk3's topic in Otaku Central
Part of Adult Swim's problem is that they insist on cramming all their anime onto one night, Saturday night, one of the poorest nights you can air a new episode of a show, since most people are out and about on Saturday nights. Although I don't think pointing fingers at the channels themselves is really going to solve anything.
Just kill it off and sell it to someone (Syfy) that'll handle anime better.
Gundam 00 would like to have a word with you. In addition to having the entire post-credit epilogue of the season finale cut out, it also cut out similar sequences that showed up in the second season, many of which were vital to even understanding the following episodes at all. Even with all of Adult Swim's screwing around with their scheduling of anime, at least they keep the shows themselves intact. Before Gundam 00, they had been alright with handling their anime [TTGL had its OP sped up randomly, and some supposedly minor scenes were cut], but that was effective in distancing myself from them for awhile. [That and I lost pretty much all interest in Monster, though I have no idea how well they've been handling that.] And yeah, I do realize that there's other channels that you listed that showed anime, but most of them either aired it as a one-time only affair, or are only available via satellite and digital cable services. [And, even then, some of those probably require extra payment, as well.]
They just need one channel dedicated to anime, that would so help. Anime Cartoon Network Line-Ups...and anime on television announcements
Sangome replied to Syk3's topic in Otaku Central
New Bleach episodes to return to AS on August 28th. But also of note is the fact that FMA: Brotherhood is going to be taking a hiatus around this time to make way for new Bleach, as well. Although it's extremely likely that this hiatus is to dub more episodes, especially considering that the second boxset -- releasing around the same time it's going on hiatus -- has only up to episode 26, which is where the anime will end on AS for the time being. Plus, they did the same thing when the original FMA aired years ago, so this isn't really anything new. Better they dub more now and get it over with, rather than rush into dubbing like Bandai did with Code Geass R2, causing it to go on numerous hiatuses while it ran on AS. Another thing of note is that Ghost in the Shell: 2nd Gig and Cowboy Bebop will finish up their reruns and be replaced with King of the Hill and The Boondocks. Some are actually speculating that AS might be letting their licenses expire for GitS and Bebop, but this hasn't been confirmed. -

E3 2010 Demo Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 Decided to hop on the bandwagon and start at least one topic about a game from E3 I'm quite interested in. Been meaning to do this for the past few days, anyway. Pretty much the only non-Nintendo thing I was looking forward to this past E3, Portal 2 is something I've been excited about since I played beat the original game sometime last year. The environment and story, minimal as it was, was ripe for questions and speculation, and I'm hoping 2 will expand upon it and prove [or debunk!] some of the theories people have. Oh, and it's just plain fun, too, and brilliantly written, so yeah. Anyway, here's what is known about the game so far [POTENTIAL SPOILERS, do not read further if you want to be absolutely surprised when the game comes out]:

it takes place 100 something years after the original game, with Chell in stasis since the end of Portal 1
GLaDOS will be returning and running you through tests yet again
one of GLaDOS's personality cores, Wheatley, will be a new character and help you out through a portion of the game. He's seen in the demo, with a placeholder voice that has been so well-received that it might be made permanent.
There are various new tools to help you out in Aperture Science, such as a vaccum from a pipe to suck up items and enemies, paint to splash onto the ground to help you increase speed to fling yourself across large chasms, and much more.
Whereas Portal 1 was a short Gaiden Game to the Half Life series, topping in just a couple of hours gameplay time, the sequel will have no connections to Half Life [whether or not this is a good thing depends on the player], and will be a complete, full price game.
Also of note, a couple years ago, Kotaku reported on a leaked casting call for Portal 2, revealing some early details long before the game was officially announced. This introduced the possibility of Aperture Science's founder, Cave Johnson, as being another AI, similar to GLaDOS. Although, since it's been so long, and they've not made any mention of this, I wonder if this will still be in the game. Although it's entirely [and likely] possible they're just saving it for when the game actually comes out, though. Finally, and probably the only disappointment that I have so far, is that it's been delayed 'til sometime in 2011. Oh well, whatever they need to perfect it! So, who else is looking forward to the return trip to Aperture Science?
-
Well, the mention of the Resort Area reminds me that, in Platinum, you have [s]Steven Stone's[/s] Villa in that area. You can buy new items depending on certain achievements you make, and it's actually pretty awesome. Professor Rowan, your rival [I think, anyway], Dawn/Lucas [depending on who you play, natch] and even then gym leaders can come by and visit. It's pretty neat, and while I don't think it quite makes up for the lack of R/S/E's hideouts, it still beats the Underground's hideouts in spades.
EDIT: Hoooly hell, there are apparently gonna be three-on-three battles now. ._.
I think I just heard my DS cry in fear.

But yeah, I am wondering about the fact that the battle against "Cheren" looks nothing like a gym, though there's a random girl[?] in that shot, which makes me think they're bring in referees like the anime. If that is indeed some weird gym, anyway.
Also, what does everyone want to see added to Black & White, even if it might not happen? For me, I would have to say the return of secret hideouts. I don't remember which Gen had them, and I don't know if it's good that they're gone, but I heard about them and they sounded pretty cool.
They were from Gen 3, Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald, and they were indeed awesome. They tried to compensate for them in the form of the hideouts in the Underground in D/P/Pl, but it's just not the same. :/

I actually thought Big Baby was cute in a rather weird, grotesque kind of way. I also felt really sorry for him when
Lotso told him that Daisy didn't love him anymore. It would be like if you told an infant their mommy didn't love them anymore, and they understood what you were saying. ;_;
Oh, and him
pushing Lotso into the dumpster was a pretty big crowning moment of awesome for him.
Totally agreed on the freaking monkey, though. Good grief. I wanna go see it again...like, really bad. Toy Story was my first big obsession when I was a wee kindergartner, and having the series age with me and the rest of my generation was a rather brilliant move on Pixar's part. It's a heartbreakingly beautiful movie, it really is.

I can appreciate not being a fan of her music or her show or her message or anything else you wish to not be a fan of but people seem to have taken this really far and I'm curious as to why. Did I miss something?
[s]Because it's trendy and cool.[/s] Or, as Chibi seems to have illustrated, good ol' Hype Backlash. Personally, I see it pretty fruitless to hate her. Maybe now the concerns are valid as she's trying to break out of her kid persona and to be taken seriously, but even then, hey, at least she's trying! She's trying to break out of the preteen demographic and into a new, more mature one, maybe even shedding some of her more pesky fans, and people are still irate about it. It boggles the mind, really. I've also noticed that most people that hate her are way older than her target demographic. Again, now that she's trying to aim for an older audience, the complaints might be a wee more valid, but the sheer amount of late teens/young adults hating her is rather baffling and confusing. I guess what Chibi said about the fanbase is true, but the fanbase is also primarily kids! When we were their age, we had a bunch of stupid stuff we liked that the older demographic thought was idiotic, and most of us still defend such things to this day. That's why I personally do not hate her or make such libelous comments against her - it'd be like crapping on my own childhood. I dunno. Hating Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana makes about as much sense as hating Blues Clues to me. But with all that said, I'm not a fan. Some of her songs are alright, but I generally don't go out of my way to listen to her. But as I said before, I don't hate her, and find it rather frivolous to bash her every time she comes up. [And for the record, that's the stance I've also taken on the equally-controversial Twilight. While I hate the series and find it to be trash, going out and shouting my hatred from the rooftops is rather pointless at this point. I think the world knows enough just how love it or hate it it is.] And then there's the argument that she's a bad role model, etc...while I'm content with that argument, that's also in the minority in terms of arguments that I've personally seen against her.
When the Vanity Fair incident came out, I was hoping that the fever would be wiped out for the most part. But that only seemed to increase people's intensity in liking her!
I hate to break it to you, but that happens a lot, not just with Miley Cyrus.
