I have to disagree -- I've been playing it solo since I got it, and I like it a lot. It combines a lot of the features from the past games, and as someone who has grown up with both Mario and the platforming genre as a whole, it's a pretty sweet deal even if you're going at it on your own. Still bone-breakingly difficult at times, though, but that's part of the fun.
One thing I don't think I'll ever understand are the Chuck Norris jokes. It's like they came out of nowhere or something. I've seen it from random people on the internet and I've seen it on Attack of the Show (stopped watching that a long time ago) a couple of times. There's gotta be something I'm missing here. Why has he been getting so much flak over the years? I'm assuming it has something to do with Return of the Dragon (Bruce Lee movie)?
THANK YOU. I have never found Chuck Norris jokes funny, like, at all. You're especially right since they came out of literally nowhere; it's kinda baffling to me. o_O On an unrelated note, I am very giddy and happy right now for the first time in about three weeks. :animesmil Though the butterflies in my stomach have made me not have an appetite...

That's how I felt when the Nostalgia Critic lambasted Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. :( I felt so dumb loving that show as a kid. I still friggin' love the Critic, though, so s'all good.

Sit at home and thank God that Valentines Day falls on a Sunday this year. Also, I read "Ferris Wheel Day" as "Ferris Beuller Day", and was highly disappointed when I realized I misread it. :( ...and what on earth is "Lame Duck Day"? o_O *googles* ...oh. I see. Darn. I was hoping it had something to do with limping ducks.

Oh there's a myriad of games I'd like for the Dreamcast. XD The original versions of the Sonic Adventure games [I have/had the GCN ports, but I still wanna play the originals, especially since I gave away Adventure 2], Skies of Arcadia [again, I've played a bit of the GCN port, but I can't find it ANYWHERE...yet I've seen the Dreamcast version in stores before...], Soul Edge/Calibur, Power Stone [played a bit of the arcade version as a youngin'], and I wouldn't mind checking out Shenmue, either. ...heck, I kinda wanna play Sonic Shuffle, too. I heard it's abysmal, but I get the odd feeling I'd like it anyway...

I never owned a Dreamcast, sadly. D: I want one, though. However, I do have fond memories of playing the snot out of the Sonic Adventure demo at Sam's Club. / You know what I REALLY want, though? A Sega Saturn. Why? This. I've played the Wii sequel with ample knowledge of the first game, but I still wanna play this sooo bad. [Why it's not on the Virtual Console, or even as WiiWare, I have no clue.]

Just throwing it out there, but anime can have just as much typesetting as manga, if not more so. [Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, I am looking directly at you...] But yeah, it really depends on who is translating it. You have your efficient types that'll get it done in a day or so, or the ones that slack off just to tick off the fans. But that's for fansubs, although I guess the same could apply to scantalators. I can't really go into more detail, though, since I've not followed a manga online in a long time, and I stopped watching most subs a year or so ago as well.

I was about to ask what you were doing watching Care Bears, until I realized that I think I may have seen the same movie. o_o And that I watched it a lot, despite not being a big Care Bears fan as a kid...

I too would love to play Bayonetta, and that's typically not the kind of game I'm into. And even though her outfit is blatantly fanservice-y, I am really digging her design. Must be the extravagant hair. And glasses. Gotta love 'dem glasses. [And her SHOES BEING GUNS. I don't care how over-the-top that is, it's awesome]. Incidentally, a trip to my friends' house last night has introduced me to a game I really, really want to get my grubby paws on -- Mass Effect. Yeah yeah I know I'm late to the party, especially with the sequel coming out really soon, but I already love it to death just from watching a few hours of gameplay. Will definitely be getting my hands on that ASAP. Anywho, I've been playing a metric crapload of Dissidia lately, to combat stress. It's proven to be very therapeutic. >_> I'm almost done with everyone's story modes -- I'm currently on Bartz's, and I only have Warrior of Light and Zidane's after that. Right now, though, I'm just concentrating on leveling other peeps up in other modes. Super Paper Mario continues proving itself to be absolutely freaking amazing and hysterical. [If you do not laugh at Francis and Peach's
dating simulation parody
, then you have no soul. Actually, the entirety of 3-4 is freaking hilarious. Probably as a way to say sorry for the absolutely brutal 3-3...] Currently I'm flailing away in space, and it's my least favorite area so far. :/ But I'll deal. Whittling away at Professor Layton 2. Not much to say though, other than I've somehow managed to win a few puzzles by blindly guessing. That's always fun. Pretty sure I'm close to being finished with Crisis Core. I'm in Nibelheim and had to fight Sephiroth...and lost. Bah. Later today I think I'll chill with some New Super Mario Bros Wii and some more Super Paper Mario.

So upon utilizing Google, I have found...well, absolutely nothing, outside of it supposedly "coming soon!". ANN's subforum for it hasn't been posted in since last month, and some of the members seemed to be wondering as well. I've checked the magazine's site, check the magazine's blog...nothin'. So it's either in Development Hell, or it's been quietly canceled. [If it's the latter case, and people are still subscribed to it, they're overdue for a refund, I'd say...or at least a replacement magazine.] Sorry that I couldn't help find an answer for ya. =/

1) Member of the Year: At the risk of sounding absolutely cliche/copping out...every member that contributes on OB. Good or bad, it makes the site active and generates discussion both on and off. Keep on rockin', guys. 2) Male Member of the Year: Ace. Apparently we're rivals or something? I dunno, begrudging voteback. *smacked* 3) Female Member of the Year: Tie between taperson and chibi-master, both always have such sunny, light posts that can bring a smile to anyone's faces. 4) Staff Member of the Year: Beth (SunfallE), cause she has to deal with so much both here and theO [more so theO, but I digress], and I don't think I'd be able to handle even half the stuff she does. Hats off to ya for your constant hard work. -

Anime Cartoon Network Line-Ups...and anime on television announcements
Sangome replied to Syk3's topic in Otaku Central
This hasn't been posted about yet ['least not here], so I figured I'd give everyone a heads up. Article Adult Swim has dropped/lost the rights to Death Note and Blood+, citing that they're "clearing out" for new shows they "may" have picked up. And apparently, there's a new show scheduled to begin airing February 13th, thought to be one of these three new series. The most popular guesses seem to be Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Inuyasha: The Final Act, and Soul Eater. FMA: B is the most glaringly obvious one, since the original FMA series was a huge success for them, and not getting the rights to air it would be rather absurd. [Even though their treatment of anime the past couple years has been absurd enough to begin with...] This is the one I'm personally betting on. Inuyasha: TFA also seems obvious, however I've heard nothing about Viz dubbing it, just that they're simulacasting it [whereas Funi has listed their dub cast for FMA: B and are set to release the first part of the series this spring]. And as for Soul Eater...as cool as it would be [from what I've been able to see of it anyway], I don't really think it's AS material. I mean, it COULD, but it seems a slight cut below what they'd normally air for anime. But this is just me going off only having seen the first 11 episodes, so it could very well be a perfect fit. [And hey, they did air FLCL and proclaim it to be their favorite anime they've ever aired, so who knows.] But yeah. Let's keep our eyes on the promos [maybe >_>] and channel leading up to February 13th. Edit: And I fail. It's the 13th when it airs, not the 6th. -

Anime The Most Hot-Looking Anime/Manga Females In Your Opinion

Well, since Christmas has come and gone, I've got a new load to tackle. First off, I'll start by saying that on New Years Eve, I made it my goal to finally beat Final Fantasy VII this decade. [Stop laughing]. I was at the very end with fights with Sephiroth and Jenova in the Northern Crater [and no, that does not need a spoiler :|] for the longest time...and I managed to beat it in the hour just before the new year. Hee. And as for what I'm playing now: Professor Layton & the Diabolical Box: Hooray, time to make me feel stupid!! Regardless, I love this series, with its lighthearted, European charm. And one pleasant surprise is more voice acting: the previous game only had voice acting for the animated cutscenes and after the puzzles. Now most of the spoken dialogue has voice acting, which is welcome by me. Super Mario RPG: Not played much of it yet, but I'm happy to finally own this thing, in legal format to boot [albeit downloaded off the Virtual Console]. Sin and Punishment: A recommendation by Alla some time back, and I'm glad I took it into consideration. Not played much of it either, but I definitely enjoy what I have played so far. My gripes so far, though, is with the rather hard-to-remember control scheme [though I'll get used to it], and the graphics. I can appreciate them trying to go for a realistic with an anime touch, but it just looks...kinda odd with the N64 graphics. o_O But I love shooting things like no tomorrow, and I rather like the music as well. Super Paper Mario: This...is probably going to wind up as my favorite Wii title. I was able to briefly play it a year or so ago, but I actually own it now, and I'm glad I do. I've always been a super huge fan of Paper Mario, and this is no exception. I love being able to flip around into 2D and 3D to find all the little secrets around, and the gameplay never seems to get stale and boring. And like the other entries, the characters are extremely diverse and colorful, which is always welcome. Pop culture references abound as well, but they never feel contrived or stale, and overall it's just a fun as heck game that everyone needs to play. New Super Mario Bros. Wii: Oh sweet nostalgia. ;_; This is good if you don't feel like playing anything story-intensive, as always. It combines features from most of the 2D Mario games and adjsdkf so much fun. I need to play more of it. Annnd on the Sony front...I got me a new PSP. And these: Dissidia: Final Fantasy: Admittedly I've not played some of the FF titles represented here, but I'm loving it regardless. Very fun combat, and all the references to the games are quite awesome. Square knows how to cater to the fans [when they're not horribly milking certain titles, that is...] And on the subject of milking... Crisis Core: FFVII: Bought this for myself on New Year's Day. While I've been disappointed with most of the Compilation stuff so far, I'm quite liking this a lot. Zack's a fun character [though I'm trying not to become too attached to him, due to his foregone conclusion], and it's awesome getting to run around for Shinra, as much of a terrible company they are. My inner fangirl is pleased at seeing good guy!Sephiroth, too. >> ... however, I freaking HATE Genesis. Guh, annoying little pest. Next time he quotes Loveless, I'm throwing him out a window. :|
