When your friends are doing dumb crap that completely monopolizes the morals and standards they set for themselves for years, only for some brief entertainment. Especially so when said morals are mutually shared with said friend, yourself, and another mutual friend. It's a slap in the face, really. Doubly so when you know they won't listen to you. TRIPLY so when you can't do anything but watch as they do dumb crap that will eventually get themselves hurt...and there's nothing you can do about it.[/SIZE]

[SIZE="1"]I'm glad to see they seem to have garnered up the funds for voiced skits this time. Legendia had voiced skits, at least, but the data for that corrupted on me long ago...Japan's lucky -- everything from Symphonia onward had voiced skits. In any case, yes, this game is bloody [I]gorgeous[/I] to look at. It really feels like you're in an anime. And while I'm here, I need to give my props to Yuri. It's so so so nice to have a protagonist in a JRPG that is actually not whiny/angsty/idiotic, and best of all, ACTUALLY OVER THE AGE OF EIGHTEEN!!! Another thing I like is the return of really good female character designs. As a mad character maker, the most of which are female, I totally dig good designs for female characters, which Abyss was sadly lacking [outside of maybe Arietta]. Anyways, I should pick this back up again. I've been horribly slacking on it. It'll probably be something to work on over the summer.[/SIZE]

[SIZE="1"]It's because parents these days don't freaking teach manners and common courtesy anymore. If I EVER kicked a store clerk [or anyone, for that matter] when I was a kid, I'd be hauled out of the store and spanked to heck and back. Oh, and that's another thing. Spanking is practically being considered abuse nowadays. Just verbally scolding a kid to make them stop isn't enough, it really isn't. A smack on the bum? That'll get them to shut up. [and yes, I was spanked as a kid. And I'm glad, else I woulda been a horrifying urchin.] My mother also works at a day-care. She can attest to how horrible kids these days are. It really has to do with how they are raised and how their parents approach punishment, if any. Which reminds me of a story from back in November. It was election day, and I was going off and voting [for the first time!]. It was unusually warm out, so I decided to wear shorts. Apparently some little girl I walked by didn't like that, as I heard her mutter "gross! Gross, lady!" as I walked by. Then as I walked past her, she was going "Hey! Helloooooooooooooooooo" as if she was trying to get me to notice her. Well, it was either the shorts or the makeup. I'm going to assume the shorts. They're not the skinniest in the world, but sheesh.[/SIZE]

[SIZE="1"]That raises the question: did his Japanese VA even attempt an Irish accent? :p Personally, I think it's best that he didn't attempt. Chances are, too many people would have bickered too much about it, saying how it's "blatantly fake" and whiiiiine and complaaaaaaaaaaaaaain about it. I'm not ragging on the actor at all, he could do a great Irish impersonation for all I know. I remember in the final episode of the original FMA series, they had Germans with German accents, but they were completely dropped for the movie, which I personally found a smart move. And in video games, I know in the first Professor Layton game, Luke's VA is [i]clearly[/i] faking her accent for him, going the cockney route...while Layton's VA is an actual English gentleman. And then we have Hugh Laurie as House... Anyway, I dunno. If you think you can pull it off, go for it...but I've seen fake accents draw far more ire than no attempt at an accent at all.[/SIZE]
