BlazBlue's a great series. I don't know squat when it comes to the technical aspects of things, but the story is very good and the characters are fun. Definitely worth a shot, especially since the first game [Calamity Trigger] can be found for very cheap these days.

I was playing a replay of Super Paper Mario up until a couple of weeks ago; I should probably get back on that. I've also been replaying Tales of Symphonia lately; I had started it up again about a year ago, and let it loll around until last week. Last I played, I had just gotten to Ozette. With all the gripes I have about the game, it's still very fun, even if I want to kick half of the freakishly stupid antagonists faces in 90 percent of the time. And due to much [s]harassing[/s] persuading from a certain somebody, I picked up Radiant Historia the other day. Seems alright so far, but I've not really played enough of it yet to gauge a solid opinion. I'll probably play it more once the weekend rolls by.

I've been watching Durarara on AS as well, for the first time, myself. It shows a lot of promise so far, and I've been wanting to watch it for a long time now, so I'll be keeping up with it. I tried watching one of the new summer anime earlier, Twin Angels: Twinkle Paradise. I'm a girl. I like girly things once in a while. I could only make it to the seven minute mark before stopping. I got headaches and felt nauseated. Seriously. It physically hurt me. It makes me scared to try the other summer offerings. On a much happier note, I got caught up with Tiger & Bunny the other day. Man, I love this show to death. I'm not huge on shounen, but this is just a great show. It's restored my faith in a lot of modern anime, which says something, since I've had a hard time getting into a lot of it in recent years. I've also fallen back into the habit of watching GitS: 2nd Gig on Saturday/Sundays now. Always fun.

Honestly, that could go for anyone that gets pregnant, not just teenagers. But it's a good thing to have weight during pregnancy, obviously, as it keeps the baby [and mom] healthy. I am by no means condoning teen pregnancy [I am not, and shows like 16 and Pregnant/Teen Mom make me rage], but yeah.

So lately, I've been playing catchup with great games I never grew up with. The first two in the foray have been A Link to the Past and Super Metroid. [For the record, yes, I did have an SNES; it was my first system. I just never played much on it outside of Super Mario World, the DKC series, Street Fighter (when I was allowed to), and Toy Story. :P] For the former, it's great fun and very addicting. Last time I just entered the Dark World for the first time not as Link the Trix Rabbit, but I'm now taking a break from it for a few days. As for the latter, ahahaha I'm lost. Really, totally lost. I don't quite remember where I am; I just obtained the...uhhhhhh...charge beam, I think it was. Not sure where to go from there. I'll figure it out later. I like the game all the same, though. And because the urge had been itching at me lately, I'm playing Super Paper Mario again. I've been lollygagging around on a replay file for quite some time now, and I'm at the end of chapter 5, i.e. my least favorite chapter in the game. I was hopelessly lost, to the point where I debated starting over...until I found out that all I had to go was go left of where I had last saved, and a cutscene initiated. *facepalms* But yeah. Gonna play more of that later because I wanna be done with this chapter, especially since the game starts getting really good after this one.

I don't think you have too much to worry about, Chibs. Don't get me wrong -- I'm still pretty much convinced you're running on some kind of illicit substance, but yeah. [s]Why no I don't go reading old posts in this thread when I'm absolutely bored, what are you talking about?[/s]

That's too bad, because I started it yesterday and I'm really enjoying it. I wouldn't really call it a "reality show" -- in-universe, maybe, but the show itself isn't. [But when I think of an animated reality show, I think of stuff like Drawn Together (ugh) and Total Drama Island, which are penned as reality shows.] As for Kotetsu, I personally find him so adorkable, it hurts my soul, but I am also an unapologetic fangirl, so. =P But yeah, Tiger & Bunny's what I'm watching now on the sub front. I also just remembered that Durarara!! starts tomorrow night on AS, and I've been meaning to watch that for forever now, so I'll be keeping tabs on that, too.

I think the main problem with the FFVII remake ordeal is that, unlike stuff such as, say, Zelda or Pokemon [save for some mild references to past gens in the latter], is that we'd have the Compilation to deal with. How much of that would be included or excluded in some form or fashion, if at all? I myself am kind of split on the matter. It could definitely use a new script, yes, and maybe a graphical update [although I personally find the graphics and environments kinda charming], but I'm not sure I want any allusions to the compilation in it. Maybe some Crisis Core references [since that's the only one I actually liked], but if Genesis, who I absolutely despise, came within a mile of a remake...I...would not be very happy. And I find it interesting that you mention people getting tired of Nintendo re-releases, James - I've noticed the exact opposite. Well, I can see a case for that for the 3DS, but most remakes that have come out have been due to fan demand. Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver are a prime example of that - they came out almost exclusively due to an extremely high fan demand, and we got our wish. They put a lot of love into the games, too, so it's basically one giant love letter from Nintendo and Game Freak to the fans. But yeah. I'm generally fine with remakes as well, as long as the company produces more original stuff as well.

I can't really say I'm surprised, honestly. Nerds/internet subcultures + the media = overwhelming negativity. You should go back anyway and throw it at them. Actually, that's a terrible idea. Don't do that. The next person who says Chicago is dangerous needs to come spend a night in the southern part of the state. Not that I'm saying Chicago's no less dangerous, but we have so many stupid punks running around here, being disruptive in one way or another, it's staggering. We've had a drunk guy nearly break in, our cars ransacked multiple times, and a couple of stupid kids beating -- not knocking, beating -- on our living room window. All within the span of a year. And that last one just now happened tonight. I would go into a rant about how much I want to leave here, but I'll spare you all that crap. I just feel increasingly less safe here as time goes on. =/

Oh, how could I have forgotten!? New Smash Bros! I'm really excited to see Nintendo finally get a lot of third party support rallied behind the Wii U, as dumb as the name is. It's about time, really. I watched the big three's conferences, and for me, Nintendo > Sony > Microsoft. Maybe it's because of my preference for Nintendo, but they really know how to put on a show, regardless of content. Sony was nice, but there's nothing I'm really interested in, and I think the "Playstation Vita" sounds like something you'd order at Olive Garden. And Microsoft's conference...let's just say that I don't think the Microsoft fanboys have the right to call Nintendo a bunch of baby easy kiddie games any more, after what all the Kinect was showing. It's a shame, too - they're finally utilizing the potential of that thing, but they're wasting it on dancing and flailing. Anyways, highlights for me so far: Wii U - I won't lie, the name is stupid. But it looks pretty cool, honestly. I'm looking forward to it. 3DS - Okay, I know the 3DS was unveiled last year, BUT this is the year that finally has a solid lineup behind it. Paper Mario 3DS, Kid Icarus: Uprising, OoT 3DS, and Luigi's Mansion 2 right out of buttcrack nowhere. [Although they had apparently been hinting at it? Shows how much I pay attention]. Either way, I really need to get my hands on this thing now. Skyward Sword - SOOOO PRETTY AUGHGFJCSDFGJ. I like the way the lady I assume is Zelda looks this time, too. Very homely and cute is how I've been describing it. Paper Mario 3DS - Of course. Minecraft 360 - Since I'm too much of a lazy putz to actually play games on my computer, this is a welcome addition.
c) I do not have a really great tolerance for annoying characters, particularly if they happen to be anime-inspired teenage girls.
Haha well, I wouldn't call Luke fon Fabre an "anime-inspired teenaged girl", but he can kind of angst. I personally think it's justified [for reasons I don't want to spoil], but to his credit, he spends most of the game trying to overcome it. The main point of contention for me [and a lot of people] is a point near the end; without giving too much away, he basically backslides. While from a psychological standpoint, it makes sense, because backsliding does happen a lot for people with mental illnesses and the like, from a writing standpoint, it seems like a horrible copout for more drama. I myself can see it both ways, but a lot of people either see it one way or the other. But I'm gonna stop talking about it now, before I either overhype the game or drive you from it entirely.
Also, for all of your Portal 2 fans out there: I finished Portal 2 tonight! All I can say is wow. This is easily the best game I've played this year (and probably including last year, too). The ending is superb and caps everything off brilliantly. Plus, you get a couple of nice little bonuses when you finish. :)
Indeed! The ending was fantastic.
GLaDOS returning the Companion Cube to you
was one of the best brick jokes I have ever seen, and gave me the goofiest grin on my face. Such a fantastic game; I'd gladly play co-op, but I'm on 360 without internet capabilities. :( [s]or friends[/s]
Bahaha, I was actually playing the game while on Skype, and some of the folks here were listening in while I was playing.
Cave Johnson
consistently brought the house down ... can't remember which line in particular made people laugh the most, but I remember lots of people laughing at the asbestos line. And, of course, the lemons rant is amazing.
Oh man, that was so much fun. XD I'm always up for hearing more of
Cave
, whether over Skype or playing it myself.
(I really should try out FFXIII).
If you have a low tolerance of annoying characters like you say you do, I suggest running as far, far away from that game as you possibly can. I myself personally didn't have problems with any of them during the brief time I played it, but I've heard a lot of complaints about a few of the characters in that game [running from one to the entire cast]. Then again, the FF fandom is notorious for whining about any game that's not enough like their favorite entry in the series... Like TotA and James, I don't want to dissuade you from playing if you really wanna, but I'm just throwing it out there. I don't think anyone gets into Luke-level annoying, from what I've read [although I kind of have a like-hate relationship with him, myself], but yeah. Though, in regards to Luke's annoyance, while I can understand why that'd sour you, I think it's an instance of where the supporting cast more than makes up for it. Of course, that could be the Jade Curtiss fangirl of four years talking, but I know plenty of others [non fangirls :P] that would agree with me there, so.
