1.
Whether they stick things in or not doesn't really matter.
DOHOHOHOHOHO. TC, YOU CARD. ...Um, yeah, I have nothing else to contribute, as I don't feel like sifting through the rest of the threads, other than I do believe kids need to learn how to control their hormones, or learn how to use their hands. :p Carry on!
  2. What happens when a crazy Japanese man decides to use RPGMaker to make a free-roaming game devoted to scaring the pants off of those who play it? You get Yume Nikki, a 2D freeware adventure game by Kikiyama that could be best described as Earthbound meets Silent Hill. You play as Madotsuki, a little girl that lives by herself in a small apartment. There is very little to do in said apartment, aside from playing a game, turning on the TV, writing in your diary [which functions as the save feature] and sleeping [more on that later]. And don't even attempt to go outside while awake -- Madotsuki will merely shake her head, leading players to believe she is a hikikkomori. Now, remember when I was talking about sleeping? You gotta do that if you hope to explore 99.9 percent of the game. Sleeping will allow you to venture into Madostuki's dreams, which are truly bizarre and rather disturbing. This poor little girl is definitely not of sound mind. In any case, the objective of Yume Nikki is...well...there's no true "objective", per se. There's no dialogue [save for the menu screen and item obtaining], no voices
[aside from certain screaming]
, and no one to talk to. So what do you do? You explore. The dreams that lie within Madosuki's dream world are extremely vast and open. The game relies on visual stimuli and sound cues to mess with your head, so to speak. I suggest maybe watching some videos of gameplay before downloading the game, to see if it's really right for you . The one thing you do actively pursue [well, you do not have to, but if you want to trigger some of the WTF-inducing events, as well as actually beat the game, then I suggest you do so] are collecting items called "effects". There are about 25 of them IIRC, and while most of them are just altering of Madosuki's appearance, some will actually lend you a hand against the sporadic random encounters [such as the knife], and increase your speed [bicycle]. As I said before, the game is freeware, meaning it is free for anybody to download [don't ask me for the link though, Google it yourself :P]. And yes, there is an English version, although it should be noted that there is apparently a patch out there that needs to be installed in order to fix a crash and see the ending. The English file will have all you need to install, although it confused my simple mind, so hopefully you all will have a better time with it, haha. tl;dr - Yume Nikki is a freaky game that I happen to enjoy, does anyone else here do too?
  3. Third time! This one will stay for a good long while, I think. ...Can I just say I have an undying fangirlism for Jade Curtiss of Tales of the Abyss fame, re-sparked by the recent debut of the anime? No? Well, too late, I just did. Title is still dealing with my addiction to the song Kuusou Rumba. And going further into my sig, the links off to the corner are just links to My Anime List, and to my Chatlogs of Doom World on theO, which chronicles the most lol-inducing moments of the Community Chat. And the rest of my sig is further proof of that.
I always seem to be there when Adam makes his worst...or possibly best[?] typos. I think he wants me arrested...

  4. ...I'm back to Kuusou Rumba again. I'm addicted. Someone rescue me. Actually, I'm becoming re-aquainted with Suddenly I See by KT Tunstall, which has been one of, if not my favorite song for the past couple of years now. Everything about it is just...wow. I can't really explain it [I fail at describing songs], so go give it a listen if you haven't already. *too lazy to go gank it off Youtube, especially on the clunky home comp*
  5. It's been a little over a week since I purchased this, and I enjoy it thoroughly, so I figure it's time to post about it. Currently, I'm playing Professor Layton and the Curious Village for the DS, and it's simply amazing. It's essentially a series of puzzles, but Lord can they make you feel stupid. I've had to shamefully look up a walkthrough for some of the puzzles
and I currently have IGN's guide bookmarked >_>
. I'm a little leery recommending it to more casual gamers because of that, but hey, maybe some geniuses can burn some brain cells... Another thing I rather appreciate is the European-influenced art style. As much as I love my anime, the style has completely saturated the market, so a breath of fresh air is more than welcome.
  6. Sorairo Days by Shouko Nakagawa, i.e. the TTGL opening. Second best anime opening EVAR. It's filled with pep and amazingness and stuff and...yeah. I dunno.
  7.
If it's anything like Higurashi I'm sold as well. Actually I can't wait for the third season to start for that anime and I thought for sure it was going to come out in the fall...or so I heard. Was wondering if anyone knew any information on that.
While this is off[ish] topic, the third Higurashi season is an OVA, and will be released over the course of a year. The first episode will be released sometime this winter.
  8. Just watched the first episode of the Tales of the Abyss anime, after having to go through utter hell waiting for a sub to come out, and even more hell for one that actually WORKED. In any case, it was totally worth it. Most things are keeping on par with the game so far,
aside from Natalia showing up freakishly early on
. It's absolutely gorgeous to look at, and I hope the rest of the series maintains that. I'm a bit miffed that the episode ended RIGHT before
Jade's first appearance
, though. Although it's my understanding that episode two was also aired on some channels as a one-hour special, so I shouldn't have too much of a wait. ...I also continue to utterly abhor Luke and want to slam his face into the nearest concrete wall. Edit: I feel like I should advise downloading TotA from a group called Weib. I figure they just want to get subs out there sooner, which in and of itself isn't too bad, but they do a terrible job. They misspell numerous things, shuffle up translations, and only punctuate the ends of sentences if a question is asked or if it's exclamatory. Ugh. Just awful.
  9. All I have to say is OHHHHHHHHHHHHH SNAP!!! I also have to go "it's about time", because, it is, really. Nice to see this guy get some judgment, even if it's for something different. Also, wtf @ the fact that it's been exactly 13 years since his not guilty verdict for his murder trial. The number of years is what gets me. Unlucky number 13, anyone?
  10.
However, it should be noted that you have to be a member of theO for a certain amount of time (I think it is three or four months, but I am hazy on that -- feel free to correct me on that, anybody) before you can participate in chats.
It's three months. Anyway, this sounds like it'd be fun. I'd like to get to know some of the people here [despite me being here for a couple years, though I do have a shaky activity level], and Shin is right, theO's chats are amazingly fun...that is, if the right people are there, hah.
  11. Woo, everything change! My set is pretty much just a personification of me -- complete and total nonsense. The av and sig are of Professor Layton from Professor Layton and the Curious Village, which is a freakin' pwnsome pie game for the DS. [strike]consequently, it just reinforces how dumb I am[/strike]. It's Japanese fanart I found on 4chan, so I couldn't tell you who made it. Sig text...the FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF underneath is an expression/meme originating from 4chan, used to express extreme emotion [usually anger or extreme sadness]. It's befitting of the original image [in which Layton is pretty much stabbing a DS repeatedly...a scenario many DS owners relate to]. The other text in the sig is just basically informing people of my name change, a change back to my first name on here, and my monkier for pretty much everywhere else on the internet. And the title is part of the song Kuusou Rumba, the OP to Zoku Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, a song I've probably had continuously blast in my ears all week.
  12.
In fact, we've already had a bunch of memorable moments that are included in Sangome's "Chat logs of Doom".
Woo, plugging! [strike]And I didn't even threaten anyone to do it, imagine that[/strike] But yeah, I'm rather comfortable with said theOtaku chat, but if this does indeed transpire, I now have the three main IM programs [though my preferred IM is MSN]. But yeah...the former option is probably the easiest, but hey, go for it.
  13. Being the utter animutard that I am, and considering I just started watching the second season of Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, I'm currently listening to Kuusou Rumba by Kenji Ootsuki & the Zetsubou Girls. I was a little apprehensive about the OP switch from season one to season two [as I loved the original], but...pardon the all caps, but THIS SONG IS FSKING AMAZING. I can't explain it, I just love pretty much everything about it [sans the ending, where it pretty much turns into elevator music...]. If I'm not listening to that, then in between every 5000 or so plays, I'll be listening to Take On Me by A-Ha. Great 80s song, probably my favorite from the decade [so much so, I have it as my current ringtone, lawl].
  14.
Question about Tales of the Abyss: I thought about watching it, but I have never played the game and have next to no experience with the series in general (the two episodes of the Tales of Symphonia OVA we watched during Anime Club on Saturday was my first exposure to anything Tales-related). Does that really matter at all, or does anyone think I can go into this fresh and still enjoy it?
Considering they're essentially re-telling the original game's story, as opposed to just adding on to the story, I think you'd still enjoy it. Like Alla said, prior knowledge will make it a bit more enjoyable [and those who played and enjoyed the game will probably be the mass majority of watchers], but I think there's still enjoyment to be had for a non-player.
  15. TALES OF THE ABYSS TALES OF THE ABYSS TALES OF THE ABYSS TALES OF THE ABYSS TALES OF THE ABYSS TALES OF THE ABYSS TALES OF THE ABYSS I really don't think I need to explain that one. :D But for other titles, Dagger's Chaos;Head spazzing has gotten me interested. I also heard that it's like Higurashi with grownups? I'm sold. And Michiko to Hatchin...for reasons I cannot explain, other than it just looks intriguing. Don't know if I'll follow them to the end, though, like I intend for TotA. Nothing else for me until the Goku SZS and Higurashi Rei OVAs are released. ...And please tell me I'm not the only one mortified by the prospect of that Lilo and Stitch anime.
  16. Mine have to do with geekery more than anything, though I try to make it somewhat meaningful. My av/sig pictures are of Jade, Neblim, and Dist from Tales of the Abyss, while the sig lyrics are from Paul Simon's Father and Daughter. Though Nebby's a lady, I thought the lyrics fit well, since she was like a mother figure to Jade and Dist [though whether they thought of her as a mother or something more could possibly be up for debate, haha]. I'm a sucky for fluffy little relationships like that. It's also of the three in particular since the TotA anime begins this week[!], and this is a bit of prep for that. As for my title, it's from Take On Me by A-Ha. No correlation with the av/sig set, it's just a freakin' amazing song. :animesmil
  17.
Well for me I got to say it was sailor moon. The way they had incorporated jupiter as a tom boy who ends up having feelings for uranus was a surprise to alot of us over in USA.
...Okay, I realize this post is a few months old, but eh?! I don't recall Makoto ever having feelings for Haruka. Yeah, her [I think] and Minako did...before they realized she was a chick. Do some more research next time, ne? Now that I'm done talking to something not even there... In today's day and age in society, I do agree that Death Note has some controversy. Banned in China, and some other places I don't know of...and some yut here in the States pulled something not too long ago, IIRC. But really, as anime as a whole is starting to become more and more mainstream, I worry we'll see more and more people construing the truth and thinking all anime is violent porn...well, outside of the small minority that already are convinced of that. ...oh, wait, I forgot, that's already happened. Although, honestly? I doubt we'll ever see anything as controversial as Pokemon was back in the good ol' says. I heard it called everything from enslaving children to the occult, promoting Buddhism, being "demon seeds", promoting cock fighting...the list is endless. Oh, and for all the people saying how Elfen Lied is controversial...wow. Just wow. I don't deny it's a good bloodfest with boobies, but seriously, there's so much worse. Although I guess to the unknowing, "normal" person, they wouldn't realize that.
  18. Bump for finale! So, who else went OMG WTF LOL WHAT DID I JUST WATCH at the final episode? I know I did. ...Granted, I'm still on season one [though I'm rather familiar with the train wrecks that constantly occurred in R2], it was late at night, and I was streaming it live and didn't understand a lick of what was going on...
  19. Heh, I'm lucky. I've been egged, but never TP'd. Which is funny, considering my part of the neighborhood is volatile to that sort of thing. ...just watch, though...I say that now and I'll wake up tomorrow morning with the crap all over the place. Ick.

  21. I'm personally surprised I've not posted here yet... In any case without further ado, here's some of my contributions: Name: Rin Asougi Source: Mnemosyne Status: Private investigator and immortal being [Addendeum: sjfjhssdhg I regret deleting the series off my computer...good images of her are SO hard to find...] -- She kicks butt. I mean, really. I wanna know what acrobatics class she took. -- The fact that if she didn't have jugs, she could easily pass off as a relatively pretty man. -- In addition to the previous one, something about that suit tickles me... --
Her tush sets off an alarm in the first episode. Come on, you gotta give that some loling credit.
-- The glasses. I have a severe, severe, SEVERE glasses fetish... -- The fact that this post is making me sound more and more like a lesbian. XD;; I do have one more, from the opposite gender. People would normally go FFFFFFFFFFFF at me calling this guy "moe" but, when I think about it...dear God... In any case, replaying his game for the first time in quite a while the other day has re-sparked my love for this guy: Name: Jade Curtiss Source: Tales of the Abyss Status: Colonel in the Malkuth army, former[?] Necromancer [I fricken adore this shot of him for some strange reason. This post is gonna turn into fangirlish dribble [as if it hasn't already].
  22. ^ DEAR GOD. :animedepr Hmm. Worst game I ever played? Tie between two Sonic games -- Sonic Heroes and Shadow the Hedgehog. Sonic Heroes was so crappily done that I rented it once...January 05, never touched since. And Shadow the Hedgehog...you know, I didn't play much of this one, actually...because it didn't want to save onto my memory card. But from what I did get to play, I think my card is thankful for it. ...Oh, and one more. Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus. At first I thought a Vincent-centric game would be pretty nifty, but I played it, and...maybe it was my disdain for third-person shooters [or any shooters, for that matter, sans Metroid Prime], but ugh, it was so horrifically boring. I didn't get past 30 minutes of it. Not to mention, I'm utterly sick of FFVII being milked for all its worth...and I speak being a huge fan of the original game. The one thing good about all of this? All rentals, so I didn't waste 30/40 bucks each on buying them. Also...fsk, Korey, I'm hurt, Donkey Kong 64 was one of my favorite games as a kid. :( ...Although, I guess extra emphasis should be made on kid...

    Mega Man 9

Bought it yesterday. I had ten bucks to blow, plus I have a hidden penchant for Megaman. So why not? ...All I have to say is that I'm a severe glutton for punishment. I do love it, but FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF it loves to pummel the snot out of me. But that's the Capcom way, I guess. I still give it a hearty recommendation, though.
  24.
Besides all that fun stuff, I now have a huge thing for Rin. It's ridiculous. Let's just say a Moe Points post about her would probably get a few strange looks sent in my direction. >_>;
Dude, if you don't, I will. I adore Rin as well and feh, people can look at me weird all they want. [strike]Although I'm certain that wouldn't score me any points with the people spreading around my supposed lesbianism, but I digress[/strike] Seriously though, Rin's just too dang intriguing. She's just got that allure. I dunno what it is. Also, good point on the Informants, I hadn't ever thought of it that way before.
I just thought of them as a bunch of lesbo prostitutes. :P
That's not to say I hated them, though, I rather liked them.
Shame we never learn their names.

  25. Allow me to get this out right now: Mnemosyne is a mature series for mature audiences. So if you go googling it right after this and scream and run off like a frightened little girl, don't say I didn't warn you. That being said...wow. The series revolves around Rin Asougi, PI, and her [strike]lolicon fanservice[/strike] partner, Mimi. Seems relatively normal, outside of the fact that they are both immortal and therefore cannot die [well, to be fair, they do technically "die" but they regenerate shortly thereafter, with the exception of
Rin falling into an airplane turbine fan thingamajig and spends roughly 20/25 years regenerating at the bottom of the sea
]. The series takes place in a span of 60-something years, each episode being a new year/decade [with the exception of the final two]. ...And er, I fail at summarizing things, so please do pardon my crappy retelling. One interesting thing about the series is that it is only six episodes long, however, it was televised, so it is not an actual OVA. And remember the bit where I said it's for mature audiences? Oh-ho, I mean it. Every episode pushes the bar on violence and sexuality [yuri fans, take note], in what I suspect is a not-so-subtle "EFF YOU" to TV censorship. Myself, my guilty conscience has been riding up on me lately and I'm tempted to delete it off my computer, lawl. So anyway, anyone else here seen this? I know at least two people have seen some of it *casts a glance at Shin and Dagger in particular*, but the fandom is really small, undoubtedly the smallest I've been in. ...Oh, in case you didn't get it the first three times, this is a mature anime. Just getting that out there. *cough*
