New Scramble: lgiwitth rceissnp Hint: The Newest Legend
-
Once BlackTigerGurl finishes her post, there will be 10 people including myself. That is more than enough to start the RP. I'll have it up no later than Sunday. If you still want to join, put up your character and I'll tell you whether you are in or not. I don't want this to be too crowded. xliquidousx's character will meet us within the RP.
Why do RPGs always die as soon as I sign up? Maybe it's a sign?
I know what you mean. I keep wanting to RP with my friend IRL Latharix_sama, but the RPs never made it to the Square. I think all of us are willing to offer you help if you want it, Phobia. :catgirl:

Congratulations, you now have a lot of plush dolls for show. Unfortunately, the Plushie Hunters break into your house and take them all from you. You spiral into a deep depression from lack of your cuddly friends. I wish I my gym grade had been 97 instead of 87 so my GPA would not have gone down.

Here are a couple I made up on the spot. After snow rivers Run their course down the mountain Spring blossoms again. A storm rages on with rain beating down the Earth. The land only sighs. Took me one minute to write. Not very good, but it gives you something to look at.

OoC:I'm going to leave it open for a couple more days, depending on how much interest is shown. They're all good so far, and it's encouraging to get good sign-ups so quickly. BlackTigerGurl, I'll trust you to edit. The only problem I can see is your nickname, which I can help with. It has to be something about fortune, gambling, etc., but I'll take it if you tell me how Glitter realtes to that stuff. Name: Soma Wylind Nickname: Judgement (The 20th Tarot card of the Major Arcana) Age: 17 Appearance: Her hair is black, goes halfway down her back, and is tied in a loose braid whenever she goes out. Her gray-flecked violet eyes offset her sharp face. She is tall with an athletic build. Red markings cover her hands and the small of her back. She only wears black gloves to hide the marks when she goes out, but she always wears torn black jeans and a loose navy t-shirt. Personality: She is one of the few Lucky Devils who lets the others use her real name, but it is mainly the younger members who call her Soma. She cares for everyone in the gang but has no qualms about maiming, torturing, or killing anyone else. Soma is headstrong and unafraid of any other member. Her attitude is usually cheerful and kind, but she will turn deadly in a second if you injure her friends. She uses her numerous contacts to find jobs both legal and illegitimate for her gang. Power: Soma has control over fire, cannot be hurt by flame, and can even separate it into only the heat aspect. She can start or stop flames and control their path. She cannot use the power if she gets too cold. Bio: Her parents committed suicide because they were afraid of their own daughter. She was rescued from foster care when she was one to be taken in by another Fate's Child, a man called Garet who had many contacts in the city. She lived with him as his daughter, until he died on a bounty hunt when she was twelve. That bounty became Soma's first kill. Never once did she break from her calm attitude as she burned her mentor's murderer to ash. Garet had known other Fate's Children. Soma found refuge with them, and they became the start of the Lucky Devils. Her place in the group was unofficial watchdog of everyone else. She made sure no crimes could ever be traced back to other members, kept a clean front in public, and dedicated herself to keeping the group alive. Soma became Judgement after the Tarot card, because of the way she looked after the Lucky Devils.

I want there to be a clear view of the setting for anyone interested, just because it can be hard to RP without certain information sometimes. This should provide a good idea of how the city works. You might not need it, but it's here just in case. The city, Arcrith, is controlled by a few extremely rich individuals. Anyone born poor in Arcrith is usually fated to stay poor, which is why many of Fate's Children end up working for them. The rich get to be protected by extremely strong bodyguards, and the Fate's Children get to live better lives. Why don't all Fates Children do this? Several reasons. The people in charge of the city worry only about gaining power, not about how other's are treated. They allow everyone else to rot. The Fate's children serving the government do nothing to protect their brethren still in the slums, which is why they are resented. There are also rumors that the Fate's Children working for the government are often experimented upon, and many people would rather have a hard life than be a lab rat. Crime is one of the biggest jobs available in the city. You can become better-off doing illegal things, but no mob boss ever gets as rich as the people in charge of the city. Not all residents of Arcrith are completely lacking morals, so crime is not a desirable job for them. It is possible to be a Fate's Child and go unnoticed. Their strange markings can be hidden depending where they are on the body. They have powers from the time they are born, though, making it extremely difficult to hide what they are at a young age. The police departments have too much crime and not enough manpower, forcing them to rely on bounty hunters. Those are jobs taken by anyone in the city, even regular humans. Of course, the city has illegal mercenary jobs too. One crime lord might want to kill another discreetly, so they put out a hit for whomever wants pay. This usually requires underground connections to hear about these jobs. The government controls most everything, regulating farming, housing, and such. Less control is placed on the outer edges of the city. The Lucky Devils live on the city's edge, and are careful to keep where they live a secret now that they have more members. They have no real rules. Some are kind, some are insane. One of the few principles they abide by is one Lucky Devil should not attack another. That hopefully covers more than you wanted to know. If you have a question, comment, or suggestion, just ask. I'll answer any question about the city you need, and most about the storyline.

Congratulations, tanukioh, you have a UFO. It is too bad that the aliens inside of it decide to abduct you. You return to Earth forty years later after being the recipient of many freaky tests and probes. No one believes you were taken away by aliens, so you get stuck in an insane asylum upon your return. I wish I play the ocarina better than anyone else on earth.

Lucky Devils Neon signs and city lights blocked out all natural light from the moon or stars. In the distance, a clock rang out twelve times. This city, known as Arcrith, had been stripped of most of its innocence. Crime was commonplace, and sometimes the only way to survive. The rich paid no attention to there fellow men, caring only for their own wealth, power, and well-being. Even before Arcrith existed, probably before any city existed, a few rarities were born, gifted with strange powers. These people were known as Fate's Children.Fate's Children shared common powers like increased strength or senses in addition to their other power. Some envied them, some hated them, but most wanted to take advantage of them. Soma sauntered into the bar, her wary violet eyes examining the details of the patrons. She, unsurprisingly, was the only seventeen-year-old. There were only three others plus the bartender. Her target, a burly man in his mid-thirties with green eyes, sat at a corner table with a drink in his hand. Soma wandered up to him and sat down at his table. He looked at her in annoyance, curling his thin lips in a sneer. "Scram, kid. It's past your bedtime," he barked. "I have not had a bedtime in years, just so you know," Soma stated cheerfully. Her smile showed no malice, but her eyes narrowed. "You're Wes Cavendar, right mister? Isn't there a three thousand dollar bounty on your head after that bank robbery you pulled yesterday? You shot one of the guards, if my memory's right." Cavendar pulled back his gray jacket and moved his hand over a pistol. Soma continued smiling as he pointed the gun at her. "There are a lot of stupid kids out there that should be shot, and I have no qualms about age," he ground out. "Funny, I have no problem with age either," Soma chirped. She watched in amusement as he glared. "It is up to you whether I take you quietly, or if you want to go there injured. I get my bounty money regardless." "That's it!" Cavendar snarled. He placed his finger over the trigger, but never pulled it. His glass exploded in a burst of bright flame--which, in case you did not know, is very disconcerting--and dropped the weapon in surprise. Soma took advantage of his surprise and dealt him a swift blow to the head. Soma removed her black gloves. The red symbols covering her hands pulsed brightly as she focused her power. She hoisted Cavendar over her shoulders with a strength she should not have had, waved good-bye to the stunned bar patrons, and dropped the unconscious man off at the police station. Reward in hand, she returned to her home. She lived with other Fate's Children, forming a strange extended family. Soma had been orphaned at a young age, but found a life with her friends. It became a custom upon joining the group to take a nickname based on some game or practice related to luck or divination. There was no official leader to the gang, but they called themselves the Lucky Devils. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I'm still forming a few of the ideas, but I know where I want this to go. The setting is basically an alternate universe of Earth, with most of the technology we have at the present time. People struggle to survive in every city, with travel being uncommon because of money and safety. Think of it like a Wolf's Rain or Big O type universe (but without giant robots). Click here for the underground thread, which has more detailed information about Arcrith and should clear up some questions. Feel free to put in questions or suggestions. I find the story is more fun when you have different people sharing their ideas. Sign-up Name: Fantasy or real names are both fine. Nickname: Every one of the Lucky Devils has a nickname, as previously stated. This can be related to gambling, Tarot cards, horoscopes, pretty much anything involving luck or chance. Be creative. If you really can't think of anything, just send me a message. Age: Anything from thirteen to forty. Appearance: Pic, good description, or both. Fate's Children usually look like normal humans, but they have weird markings. Personality: Obvious. Power: Be creative with your power, but don't go too overboard. Bio/Character Snippet: Whichever one you prefer, or both. Once again, be creative. Our characters are all friends, so work with that however you want. I will be playing Soma. The introduction is also my character snippet, but I'll post a full sign-up after some people join. I'm not the best writer, so I won't be too harsh for deciding who gets in. As long you put in effort and don't have spammy posts, you'll do fine. Edit: Someone contacted me asking if they could be neutral. I'll allow neutral positions. Think of the characters as wild cards. You may already know the neutral character, or you might not. They may become a Lucky Devil, or they may end up against as. We'll see. Characters cannot kill each other without an agreement from both players. Neutral Sign-up Name: Age: Position in the City: What you do if you are not a Lucky Devil. Human mercenary, other Fate's Child struggling to live in Arcrith, Fate's Child working for the government, police, etc. Your detail on this subject determines if I add you to the story. Appearance: Personality Power/Weapon: If you are Fate's Child, power and maybe a weapon. For any other position, list your weapon if any. Bio/Character Snippet:

Dhante, Denzede, and Neko guarded Ix as she continued the unbindingspells. The guards used spells to summon a wide variety of monsters. Each party member began hacking away at the seemingly endless string of creatures. Dhante started in on a group of gryphon familiars when one clawed her right side. She stumbled backwards, nearly getting hit again before Denzede took the monster out. Some blood trickled from the sharply throbbing wound. "That... that hurts!" Dhante said as she touched the cut. "What kind of freaks make a game that's really painful?" Neko and Denzede moved closer to her. "Umm, Dhante are you..." Denzede started, but the half-bat was already up. Pain had an unusual effect on Dhante. More than making her hurt, it made her angry. She started hacking into the summoned creatures with renewed vigor. Dont get mad, she thought. Get really angry and get even at the same time.
Magical-bam! You have a new game...but it's really really crappy ^_^ I wish everyone was a scool as Guardian Angel.
Yayness! everyone is as cool as Guardian Angel. Unfortunately, that means everyone is exactly the same, making nothing cool or good or bad. Life's just not as good without variety. I wish I had the world's best hacking skills, where I could hack into any system completely unnoticed.

I am out of school now, thankfully, so I posted. I can work the story any way you guys want me to. I'm going to take it in a pretty loose direction, so I think we can adjust it for whatever needs to be worked in. Tell me what the problem is, Sazabi, and I can work it in. Unless you want to be mysterious for awhile? ^_^

Ceyla finished off another mercenary. They had been fighting for nearly half an hour. A sudden flash of light engulfed Vincent's body. Everyone stood still as Vincent rose. His looks and armor had changed. That would be odd enough in itself, if he had not been dead not long before. Kacela approached him, gazing steadily into his eyes. "Vincent, is that you?" she asked. "Of course," he answered. "You don't look the same," she said simply. Ceyla covered her mouth as a laugh threatened to spill out. That's an understatement if I've ever heard one, she mused. Kacela embraced Vincent in a fierce hug. Everyone began smiling at the extreme weirdness of the situation. It is not every day that a friend comes back from the dead. "I'm still here," Vincent assured. After geting rid of the mercenaries' bodies, they told everything that had taken place since their separation. It was still unknown if Vincent had changed in more than the physical sense. "You don't stay down for very long," Dalanius commented. "No, I don't," Vincent laughed. "It seems there are a lot of mercs interested in us right now. The ones who held Hashi captive, the ones who attacked me and Neko. I'm almost expecting someone to jump out at us right now." "We're popular right now," Neko said. "It seems we are," Ceyla concurred. "It'll be trouble if someone else was hired beforehand to come after us. There's a city not far from here called Thornrow, full of mystics, magic users, and thieves. Most people are unaware of it, but that place has deep roots among assassins. I have to go there soon. We could all go together and see if anyone else has a price on our heads."

OOC: I've been busy with my finals. I PM'd Stark and Starwind. We can bring them in later. Three dragons erupted into the passage. One came from the ceiling to land in front of Dhante. She let out a piercing screech, momentarily stunning the beast. With a vicious swipe she cut into its leg. Her scythe drew in the dragon's blood. Dhante leapt away as the dragon tried to knock her with its tail. She balanced herself on an upper edge of the wall. The night let her fight at full strength. Gripping her hands tightly around her scythe, she summoned her shadow magic. The shadows formed into the shape of the bat and tackled the dragon in its stomach. Dhante got in another hit with her scythe. She cut the dragon's neck. The monster finally fell, leaving behind a red scale.

It's still going. I'm supposed to have control of it, but I've been really, seriously busy. My final exams are on Monday and Tuesday, so I've been doing major studying. I assume Sazabi does want to stay in, but I can't think of a way to bring him back. I might be able to post a little later tonight or tomorrow. Anyone, feel free to give a solution, and I'll work my quest in with what you decide.

The imp told Dhante that others would be joining, so she decided to wait. Her eyes were becoming better adjusted to the light, but she still had to shield them. As she contemplated buying a pair of sunglasses--if they were even an item in this game--an Arc blocked out the light with his cape. Although Dhante had made her character look similar to her real self, this person chose a more intimidating demon-type. "Uhh, thanks. My name is Dhante, bat demon. Are you here to help Vincent as well?" He nodded as he looked at her. "Yes." He looked away as she smiled. Despite the fierce appearance, he seemed a little bashful. "Shy arent you? Whats your name?" "Denzede, the Arc." "An arc. Havent seen one of those yet. Nice to meet you. And thank you for the shade. The sun was a little bright today," she cheerfully stated. Another new character came up, a half-cat girl. Dhante smiled at her. "I'm Dhante. Did the imp send you to look for Vincent too?" "Yeah, I guess it's the beginning quest for new characters," the cat-girl replied. "I'm Neko." "Nice to meet you. I told you my name, but this is Denzede the arc." Speaking for others was one of her worst habits, as was talking too much. Dhante continued, "I think we have more people coming, from what the imp said. She struck me as odd. I wasn't sure whether she was a live player or an NPC." Dhante wondered what these members were like in real life. They sounded no older than she was, and teens mainly played the game. As she began to do a headstand, light flashed once again, revealing yet another character.
-
Dhante curled her fingers experimentally. Her skin felt no different than it did in the real world. Her character, a half bat demon, looked similar to her real self, with a few added bonuses. She bit down on her lip, lightly piercing it with her sharp teeth. She was shocked to feel a little bit of pain. Putting her hand to her lip, she touched a warm drop of slick blood. She licked at the wound and found she could taste it. This game was famous for its sensory perception that held little difference from reality. It was infamous for the rumors of disappearing players. Dhante shivered with excitement and fear at the thought of losing her living body. She took a risk by playing this game. Right now she wanted to know anything more besides the vague details floating around. It had been said no one had ever beaten the final boss. She had heard of one character named Vincent who had almost done it. Dhante's goal was to find him and get questions answered. Supposedly, he was imprisoned in this city, the starting point for beginning players. Dhante landed near the walls of the city. It took time to adjust to her senses. Light seemed abnormally bright, sometimes painful, and her ears picked up every minute sound. She shaded her eyes with her scythe; the weapon was almost a foot taller than she was. She turned her head to the rustling of cloth. She saw a beautiful imp about ten yards in front of her. She walked up to the new female. The imp's looks reminded her of a sunset, all red and orange and yellow. With a curtsy the imp greeted Dhante. "Greetings. You're the first of the guests. Vincent has been waiting." Dhante smiled, slightly confused. A living player would not be waiting for a new character like her, but NPC's waited to be talked to in most games. Dhante smiled at the imp, feeling slightly confused. "My name's Dhante. Umm... who are you, exactly? What's going on?"

Huzzah, you own the Cookie Monster. Unfortunately, Sesame Street is being a tight a** when it comes to kids, and cookies are now only a "sometimes" food. After eating one too many, Cookie Monster sends you to get help. You go on Sesame Street: Fat Camp Special. You were okay with your body before, but since the adults say it's bad to be fat, you develop low self-esteem and depression. Too bad we can't let kids be kids and have a cookie. I wish America (my dear home country) would rethink its contradictory "values."

Ceyla stood before a black-haired man with a broadsword. Something about him seemed familiar. She gripped her stiletto tightly in her hand. Without a sound the man charged at her. She dodged his first blow and swiped at him with her blade. Behind her she heard a thump. Out of the corner of her eye she saw Kacela tossed to the ground. Nothing could be done for her at the moment; Ceyla had her hands too busy with the assassins. They dodged each other's blows, neither landing nor getting in a hit. Above her head she heard the sound of crashing metal. Cellah had broken Hashi from his cage. The mercenary flicked his eyes up to glance at the sound. That mere second was all it took for Ceyla to thrust her blade between his ribs. He fell to his knees, struggled for a moment to stand, and collapsed. He turned his face to look at her. "Nicely done as always, Amethyst," he muttered before death overcame him. Ceyla started at the use of the alias. Most assassins used fake names when being hired, making it harder to trace them in their personal lives. Ceyla normally refused to show her face to anyone hiring her, and kept her face hidden when on actual assassinations. There had been no reason to hide her face for the last two endeavors, but there should have been no way to track her through working for the king. Dalanius had taken care of another ax-wielding fighter, and Cellah and Hashi dealt with the last. The three were already at Kacela's side. Kacela held her head but remained conscious. Ceyla shook off any feelings of dread and smiled lightly at Cellah and the newcomer harpy. "It's good that we finally found him," Ceyla said. "Welcome to our little group, Hashi." They left the fortress, remaining quiet as they headed outside. The enemy harpies had cleared away. With a whistle they called the horses. The sped away from the mountain, covering as much distance as possible. By the time night rose again, they made camp not too far from where they had escaped Ravenbrook. There was a level of uncertainty remaining, but the mood around the campfire was lighter now that they found Hashi. Cellah was beaming. They talked lightly before heading again into serious subjects. "Vincent could still be nearby. We need to find him," Kacela said. "Neko too. They're our friends," Cellah added. She seemed more confident with Hashi near her. "The obvious place to start looking is around Ravenbrook. That is where we last saw them," Dalanius stated. "Then we can start looking tomorrow morning," Ceyla said. She wondered what changes the group would continue to go through. "I want to find them, but after we do I have to..." She trailed off for a moment. She broke one of the most important rules of an assassin by growing attached to her comrades. Putting a grin on her face she continued, "I'm probably heading to a city called Seroth pretty soon. It might be interesting for you all to come with me. Tell me what you want to do once we find Neko and Vincent."

Congratulations on going to Florida with your girlfriend. While you visit the beach together, some random bikini chick comes up and kisses you. Your gf thinks you have cheated on her, so she breaks up with you and leaves you stranded in Florida. You no longer have lodging, you only have the one pair of swim trunks for clothing, and you lost your wallet. You are homeless, penniless, and shirtless in an unfamiliar state. Sucks to be you. I wish I had the complete sound track to Cowboy Bebop, every single lovely tune.

Dalanius offered to stay behind as two more harpies approached. Cellah, who was almost amusingly drunk and irritated, immediately shot one of the birds. It fell to the ground with a thump. "That'll teach 'em!" Cellah said with intoxicated happiness. Another harpy rose into view. They started heading for the fortress, with Cellah and Kacela firing arrows at the harpies as they went. Dalanius stayed with them until they reached the building and stopped, intent on guarding the rear. "Dalanius, it's nice of you to want to guard us," Ceyla said. She grabbed his arm and pulled him towards the fort's entrance. She looked at him stubbornly and said, "We can all be safe together, so don't try to sacrifice yourself. You're also alive, in case you forgot, which means we can't let you stay out here to be bird food." He did not give her an answer, but he followed. They immediately barred the door upon entering the building, keeping the harpies out for at least a while. Layers of dust covered the inside of the abandoned stronghold. They cautiously traced a path where dust had been disrupted. Eventually they wre lead to a barred door. The sound of something--or rather someone--pulling at chains broke the silence that had settled over them. Kacela pressed lightly at the door and mouthed, It's unlocked. With a swift push they opened the door. A cage with a chained harpy hung from the ceiling. Four men in black clothing stood expectantly. Their weapons--two had broadswords, two had axes--started advancing in a painfully slow manner towards the group. "Those are mercenaries," Ceyla said. "Stay on your toes and kill them as quickly as possible."
