Manga What's the weirdest manga that you've read so far?
kalon replied to darkartic's topic in Otaku Central
Thought I'd post a different kind of weird. Kaori Yuki is my favorite manga-ka. Her series Angel Sanctuary and all the Count Cain volumes contain some of the wildest stories contained in manga. Her stories delve into topics most would not dare to mention: incest, the occult, a murder pretty much every chapter(GodChild), heaven, hell, angels, demons, and insane family members out to kill you. All the artwork is gorgeous, dark and Gothic. If you can handle wild subjects and plot twists that make you go WTF?!, try her work. -
Ceyla wandered around the city, relieved that no one was seriously wounded fighting the orcs. She might have a few scars from her cuts, but they were nothing out of the ordinary. Her deviations led her to a group of children playing together. She smiled and spoke to them for a few minutes. Not only did she find that they were easier to get along with than many of the adults she knew, they also provided some useful information. It seemed that this was not the first time orcs had raided the village. A man living in an ominous castle supposedly controlled the orcs. Ceyla thanked them and went back to exploring the city. The next thing to interest her was a large gathering in the street. People volunteered to fight and made bets on the out comes. Although the king had supplied funds for them, Ceyla decided to join them. No point in turning away from fun or easy money, she thought. At first the man in charge of the betting hesitated to let her join, but after she literally twisted his arm, he decided she could join. The first man she faced was unsure about fighting a woman. When Ceyla quickly knocked him out with a blow to the stomach, the other participants saw her as a worthy opponent. Within minutes everyone in the crowd started betting on her. One or two men brazenly tried to hit on her. Her only response was: "I'm only interested if you beat me in a fight." After playing with different challengers for an hour and earning a heavy sack of coins, Ceyla moved on. I'll find one of the others, she decided.

trend (noun) 1.The general direction in which something tends to move. 2.A general tendency or inclination. 3.Current style; vogue. fad (noun) 1.A fashion that is taken up with great enthusiasm for a brief period of time; a craze. If homosexuality is a trend, why would people risk alienation from a great deal of the general public and their loved ones just to be cool? Homosexuality is not accepted by many people, so it does not fit the definition of the words. You are who you are. Your sexual preference is not something you choose. Liking the same sex, opposite sex, or both genders does not make you a better or worse person. I live in Tennessee, in a town that's certified red-neck country in the middle of the Bible Belt. I cannot understand how people can be so ignorant, but almost everyone I know is against homosexuality. I apologize if this offends you, but I hate how the people around me descriminate against people they do not even know. I personally am not Christian, but if God teaches people to love one another, why do so many of my Christian friends dislike their peers just because they are attracted to the same sex? This is not meant to rant against religion. I am just stating what I see.
(And a mosh pit would never form at a Rasputina concert, silly silver_blade). I wish I could buy all the stuff I want to buy and had plenty of money left over.
I had no idea Rasputina was a group of cellists. :animeswea Congratulations, Amelia! You can buy anything and have money left over. Unfortunately, other people find out about your amazing money powers. You are hunted day and night by the people of the world who want you to buy them stuff. At first you try to make them happy with your purchasing abilities, but the huge influx of money you bring in causes every country's economy to collapse! World War III breaks out, and a lynch mob is sent after you. I wish I could pass all school exams with a perfect score.
well actually im going to be 16 and hes 19. not too much of a difference i suppose but thanks so much for the advice!:animesmil
At 15/16, I don't think it is a big deal. The only time I think age matters is when the gap is unusually large(like Anna Nicole Smith's marriage) or when it is a relationship involving children too young to understand sex(I'm not a NAMBLA fan here). Otherwise, age doesn't matter to me.

Hello again, ladydark. I am very clumsy. At night I get hyper for unexplained reasons and run around my house. The floors are all wood, so it is easy to slide in my socks. I am constantly falling down. I have even tripped into a wall before. wall+face=pain :animeswea

Congratulations! You have a lightsaber, young Jedi. Unfortunately, you are not very good at using the Force. When Vader comes to fight you, you drop your lightsaber and do not have enough control over the Force to retrieve it. Vader proceeds to Force-choke you to death. "Luke... I am your pwner." I wish to know every word in the English language. *same problem as Amelia :animeangr * Congratulations! Rasputina comes to play a free concert in your town! Unfortunately, while they are playing a fight breaks out in the mosh pit where you are standing. You are trampled by a thousand crazed fans. My wish is still to know every word in the English language.

It's Edward Wong Hau Pepelu Tivrusky IV. There's an anime called Loveless, but it is shota(adult men attracted to boys who are younger/not legal). Personally, I have no problem with shonen/shojo ai, boys love, yaoi or yuri. If you don't like homosexual anime, why do you want to know about them?

Anime What series are you ashamed to admit (or not) you couldn't get into?
kalon replied to [Sound_Nin]'s topic in Otaku Central
Neon Genesis Evangelion. I can already feel the assassins coming after me for this blasphemy. It's probably considered to be Gainax's best work, but from the start I was bored with the series. Shinji whines too much, Asuka's annoying, and the adults can't do anything on their own. I like Rei Ayanami, but she's the only one that doesn't bother me, and that's because she stays quiet most of the time. Feel free to flame me or try to change my mind, but Evangelion is my least favorite anime after Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh. It is extremely unusual for me to not like an anime, too. And the reason I don't like Evangelion has nothing to do with a complicated plot or the deeper meanings. I love Ghost in the Shell and Cowboy Bebop even though they have deep story lines. Neon Genesis Evangelion honestly bores me. -
I'm a big fan of the show, mainly because my mom is obsessed with it. Hugh Laurie is pretty good looking for an older man. Did you know he fakes his accent on the show? He's British but puts on an American accent to play House. I like how even though the show follows a similar pattern each time it's still interesting. Almost every episode goes like this: they misdiagnose the disease twice, they have some weird sickness from a secluded village in Asia on top of a tumor, then House saves the patient in the last five minutes while insulting the patient, his/her family, and his/her 3rd grade teacher. House does anything he wants regardless of the rules. I like the show better now that Sela Ward isn't his girlfriend anymore, too.

Ceyla heard Dalanius's call and immediately changed direction. He was surrounded, and she would not let him be outnumbered. She broke away from the main group and sprinted to where the paladin faced the orcs alone. Ceyla found him encircled by the monsters. She thrust her blade through an orc's stomach and moved in next to Dalanius. "Finally some help!" he yelled over the vociferous cries of the orcs. "Ask and I'll deliver," Ceyla replied. "The fight's a little more even now!" She stood back to back with Dalanius. They alternated attacking orcs and guarding each other. Although both were solitary warriors, they found that battle was easier with support.

Congratulations! Tomatoes are now livng creatures with plans for world domination. Their first act of take-over is to spread their evil roots through your bloodstream. You become living nourishment for the tomatoes as they painfully tangle their vines into your flesh. The rest of your short life is spent in pain from being ripped apart by the red veggie/fruit. I wish I could steal J.K. Rowling's money and identity.

The orcs began to move away from the townspeople and focus more on the small group of warriors. She rushed from monster to monster, killing them quickly with a stab through the heart. Vincent and Neko had joined together, and well-aimed arrows from Cellah and Kacela felled even more of the orcs. Ceyla, however, was at a disadvantage in this fight. Her blade measured just about eight inches, which meant she had to get close for a kill. As she slit the throat of one orc, another cut her across her back. She whirled on her enemy and stabbed into his chest. She made her way towards Vincent and Neko. Luckily, Ceyla had only recieved superficial wounds so far. I'll fight until I fall, she thought.

I think love is being with someone you would do anything for and they would do anything for you. You feel unexplained happiness just knowing they are near you. You see all the faults he/she may have, and those imperfections make that person even more dear to you. Love is accepting someone for who they are and being accepted in return, being happy just because you are together. At least that would be my ideal.
Be you ever so quick, with vision keen, by your eyes, we are never seen. Unless perchance it should come to pass, you see our reflection in a looking glass. What are we? Thanks everyone for the lack of sleep lol :D Seriously though everyones doing a great job keep it up :animesmil
Your eyes. I think I'm right this time(hopefully).
What common English verb becomes its own past tense by rearranging its letters?
Eat/ate. You make my brain hurt, D. Cellah smiled as she meditated, taking in deep breaths. Ceyla smiled at the shy Huntress. "Would it bother you if I asked you questions, Cellah?" "No, I'll be fine," Cellah said. "I just wondered what made you come on this journey. You don't care for battle, do you?" "Well, no, but I want to be a better archer. I wanted to experience a little adventure. My mother and Lady Joyun thought it would be a good idea, so here I am. And if I don't meditate, I can get too excited and faint." Ceyla decided,"I'll help you in battle. Don't worry about being nervous too much, I'm sure you'll fight very well when we get to Ravenbrook." Turning to Vincent she asked,"Why are you here?" Vincent responded, "Pretty obvious reason. I am a soldier for the king and I am one of the best fighters around." Ceyla smirked at her current comrade. Fighting was one of her favorite past times. "I had to hurt a few royal guards at the castle entrance, and they weren't any trouble. If you're ever interested, I'd be happy to spar with you. I love challenges."
-
Talking woke Ceyla from her sleep. She went to the source of the voices. Neko was on guard speaking to Vincent. Ceyla noticed Neko blushing profusely. "Neko, don't worry about him; I can keep watch for awhile," Ceyla offered. "Thanks," the elf replied. Neko went away from the paladin, a pink tint coloring her cheeks. "Did you come on to her?" Ceyla accused. "Why?" Vincent laughed. "Are you jealous?" Ceyla merely rolled her eyes. At least he's amusing, she thought.

Anime What anime do you wish you never saw in the first place?
kalon replied to serenayasha's topic in Otaku Central
but i must say i really wish that i never seen angel sanctuary, was that a movie a series or what there were only three parts but it had to be continued. it disturbed the hell out of me.
It was a three episode OVA which followed the manga until part-way through book 4. The manga goes much more in-depth, and the entire series runs 20 volumes. The "Game over or Continue" screen at the end of the anime appears in her books at chapter ends, but there were just 3 OVA eps. -
Macewindu0099, you have--fortunately or unfortunately--been pronounced dead after living in extreme pain from being trapped under a boulder on a mountainside. Since this thread makes wishes go horribly wrong, I have a special surprise for you: a crazed necromancing hamster has just reanimated your corpse! You spend the rest of your afterlife working as a minion for a small, furry, evil-spellcasting hamster named Mephistopheles. Common chores include working to make an even bigger exercise wheel and cleaning the hamster cage. I wish to have a faithful, hot, smart, and overall perfect man-servant to serve me and my crazed fan-girlness.

*to be read in haughty, snobbish voice* (future)Self-Proclaimed Supreme Empress Overlord of Earth Self-Proclaimed Supreme Ruler of Minions Running joke, but my friends at school decided to truly be my minions after I take over. Kayla wants Kenya for the giraffes, Chelso and Sam fight over England and Daniel Radcliffe, and Latharix_sama has dibs on Canadia. La-chan, if you read this I still have your minion contract signing you over to Chelso. ;)
The Grave of the Fireflys. it was too confusing. mopvies like that are supposed to be good endings. Plus, how did the ending tie into the beginning?

Everytime they were on the train during the movie(the red-hued scenes) they were dead. It was sort of their spirits going to the next world. The little girl(I don't remember the names) had the tin of candy and it remained filled once they were ghosts. She died of starvation. I think you saw her brother dead at the beginning. He died from something(probably sickness, starvation, or sadness) in a train station-type place after his sister had died.
It's been about a year since I've seen it, so I am not too clear on details. For Cowboy Bebop, not even the creators have a definite answer as to whether or not
Spike dies.
I think he did. I can talk for hours on this, too. ;) I did find S-cry-ed confusing, but mainly disappointing. I am a hopeless idealist most of the time when it comes to anime so I wanted a happy everybody-gets-what-they-want ending.

Weirdest/creepiest dream I ever had: I am outside a large brick building surrounded by a crumbling cinder block wall on all sides. The sky is pitch black, but I can see easily because there is a bright white light shining over everything. I pet a pure black cat and an evil aura passes from me to the cat, and it hisses, arches up and jumps away. I go into the brick building. I'm inside an apartment that has old furniture like an old person's place. The only light comes from the light of a television. No one is there but I am frightened and trying to hide from something. Suddenly I see that everything in the room is a pinkish apricot color. I want to escape because I can feel evil in the room. Flames come from nowhere into the room, spreading from the walls to where I stand. I fall to my knees crying, but they are tears of relief. The fire didn't exactly burn me, I just felt calm. I really like to ramble, huh? Some dreams like that one are clear, but most I don't remember. Most of the dreams that are clearest relate to video games, most recently Breath of Fire and Animal Crossing. In the latter I dreamed I was in Tom Nook's store and he sold only blue fluorescent mushrooms. :animeswea

Congratulations on the pyrokinesis! You also get your wish to be a martyr. You save a child from a speeding truck by setting a ring of flames around it. The truck stops before it reaches the child, but has enough time to hit you instead. The driver gets out safely while you are burned and mangled in the exploding truck. Martyrdom is complete! I wish I could change into any animal on Earth.

Ceyla dragged the bandit she had captured near the river and doused him with water to wake him up. Holding her delicate blade to his throat she hissed, "Answer my questions and I'll be kind." The thief nodded. "Did anyone send you?" He shook his head no. "So you're just a regular vagabond?" "Y-yes," he replied shakily. "Do you know of a place called Ravenbrook Castle?" "It's two t-towns east of here. But it's d-dangerous. A horrible man lives there with orcs." Ceyla smirked. The bandit answered her questions and she felt unusually generous. With a final check to see if he was securely bound, she pushed him into the swiftly flowing river, which gave him a very slight chance to live as opposed to killing him on the spot. She returned to where the others were. Ceyla noticed that Kacela had a fairly bad arm wound and Vincent had a cut on his hand, but at least Cellah had woken up. Neither Neko nor Dalanius seemed hurt. Vincent looked up at her slightly curious. "Where were you?" he asked. "Ravenbrook isn't too far from here." Ceyla smiled slightly and told them what the bandit said.
