LETITEND Lethargic emo teens in Tennessee take every necessary drug. No offense if you're emo and in Tennessee, by the way. Black hair and girl pants are just fine with me. MODERATOR

My monetary range is really low, so buying anime is a fairly rare occurrence for me as it stands with current pricing. Does that mean I think current pricing is too high? Not really, all things considered. Even though it has gained in popularity and continues to be more mainstream, there still isn't a huge market for anime in America, especially when compared to other series/movies. Of course the Pirates of the Carribean movie and The Simpsons box sets are cheap. They are made in America, which means the companies that own them have a comparatively cheap way of making them into DVDs and getting thme into the hands of consumers. They are also well-known, so they can be priced more cheaply while still making a huge profit. Let's contrast those with Fullmetal Alchemist. In Japan, it's a huge hit. Which means that FMA's owners expect a good amount of money in exchange for overseas rights to their popular series, because it is business relations, not "sell our show really cheaply so we can make Western otaku happy" relations. And after licensing rights, there's translating, dubbing, advertising, actually making the DVDs, and a whole lot of other stuff. If anime were lower priced, they would not be able to bridge the gap between the money it took to get it here and the amount of profit. If it were more popular, they could, but I think it will be a while before anime is truly a common hobby. It's the same reason Cartoon Network cannot keep an all-anime block on Adult Swim. It just isn't going to reach out to enough of the public at this time. I actually feel lucky that they keep any anime at all, considering the difference in ratings between anime and their comedy shows. To Guardian Angel, D.I.C.E. was first made by Bandai for the United States, and later had a Japanese version, so that's probably why it's so cheap.

After a rough ride trying to keep up with the truck driven by Kyle, Fang was more than happy to walk the rest of the way. Kyle kept a quick pace, but she had no trouble keeping up. She felt a change in the auras of Kyle, Tessa, and Lumine, but said nothing. Questioning bounty hunters who might be in bad moods was foolish, and Fang was not a foolish girl. She remained silent until they reached the town. There was no noise, and all the buildings seemed in disrepair. It's a ghost town, of course it looks shabby, the thorn-marked bounty hunter thought. She scanned the area but saw no sign that people had recently been there. If the Black Hawk was there, he was waiting in the inner-city. They could either go in as a team, which was more conspicuous but had safety in numbers, or go in one by one, which added stealth but gave them a greater risk of being caught alone in a gunfight. "I want to go in first and do some scouting," said Fang. Her need for danger was acting up. "If I die, I promise I'll go out in a hail of gunfire, so you can at least know where they are stationed." Her companions all looked at her incredulously, to which Fang placed a hand on her hip and huffily asked, "What?" "If you really mean that, there are better ways of gathering information," said Kyle with a slight smirk. Fang replied acerbically, "It's not like I'd going in saying, 'Shoot me, I'm a bounty hunter.' I'll do whatever everyone else wants, just make a decision."
Edit: I'm such a loon. I should give more info as to where my info came from! Check out my article on theO[/u'] for more CLAMP information but I got that info during the press conference at Anime Expo '06.
Thank you, oh-so-loverly Panda-san! A very nice article, and it makes me go "SQUEEE!" (international sound of fangirls, you know) to think of them resuming it. You made my CLAMP-induced euphoric day!
A cat heats edible rations on Neptune. Maybe I should do a long one OHDEARTHISISALONGONE
Please, people. It is one thing for there to be thirteen letter words to backronym, which is still against the original rules, but please do not double the original letter limit. The thread could be closed if there is too much off-topic conversation. I'm really sorry for being an annoying *insert curse of choice here*, but I really like the Acronym thread and would be a sad silver_blade if it were to close. Now to get over my annoying, bossy attitude... Obscure hallowed deities entering a rude tavern hate insolent souls incriminating studious, affable, lovably officious nerds greeting odious ne'er-do-wells eternally. TOPICCLOSE There would be a 'THREAD' instead of topic and a 'D', but it would be bad for me to break the rules after griping about everyone else, wouldn't it?

Dear Firefox is what I use. It makes it simple to peruse many websites at quick speeds and works best for most all my needs. Internet Explorer I have, too, because my mom is no computer guru. She knows nothing about computers, which bugs me a lot, but what can I do with 'er? So she has her browser and I have mine And what the H-E-double hockey sticks is up with this rhyme? (Seriously, I have no clue, but I suppose an insanity defense shall do.) IE is too buggy, but Firefox has never failed me. I have no idea why I was rhyming, either, I just felt like it for the moment, and it didn't take long at all, so myeh. So: Firefox good, IE bad, me crazy, and feel free to PM about my stupidity. :animeswea
Wikipedia is a good site for information but the info is not alway reliable ether. And Attack of the Show actually said it is a possiblity. But, I am sorry I didn't point it out before.
Yeah, I know. Which is why I have an article! The date is in January of 2005, though, so things could have changed. I read on (all-knowing) Wikipedia that CLAMP said they would resume it in the near future. Unfortunately, there are no cited sources on the page. Which brings me to another problem... It also said that CLAMP has stated Legal Drug is not meant to be shonen-ai. I find that extremely hard to believe. If it's true, they are being incredibly evil, because they should not tease the fans with the really, really hot chapter opening art! I know that American fangirls are prone to interpretting any sign of affection between two males incorrectly--that's why there are so many SasuNaru fans out there. And if there's a canon couple in Naruto, it would be them, but... Okay fine, I'll reign in my fangirl-ness and get back on topic. There are too many blatant signs of attraction between Rikuo and Kazahaya to be misinterpreted, I think. Not OMG! Two male characters are the same page so they must tear their clothing off and go for each other signs, but serious instances where they care about each other and show physical attraction between them. If there had only been a source stating when and where CLAMP said it isn't meant to be shonen-ai, I might be able to see them as just friends, but it's hard. Especially after the extra story about chocolate.
When I heard this from Attack of the Show on G4TV I was surprised.
Hate to say it, but Attack of the Show is not the world's most solid news source. They've been going downhill for awhile, too, which is unfortunate. According to all-knowing and completely factual Wikipedia, the Order of the Phoenix director is David Yates. I'm too lazy to put in a link right now, so just go to Wikipedia, look up the OotP movie page and read.

I have cried for a few anime, which is unusual since I rarely cry for anything. Fullmetal Alchemist--When
Hughes was killed by Envy.
The ending of Cowboy Bebop made me tear up the first time I saw it, although now I'm fine with it. I never get tired of watching the ending, which is probably my favorite anime moment of all time. With the final song, Blue, and the last image with the
falling star that represents Spike,
it all combines for perfection. I also watched Grave of the Fireflies with my mom, and if you've ever seen it, it probably shouldn't surprise you that we both were in tears.

DESTINY ISLANDS Defenestrated Errant Spadassins Take Incredible Naiads' Ydromancy In Some Lame And Noisy Divination Schools. defenestrate v. to throw a thing or person out a window spadassin n. - swordsman; fighter ydromancy n. - fortunetelling with water Edit* I could not let the above go, but here's KatanaViolet's PWNED. Poor winos need every drop. (No offense to the awesome OB PWNED, but that's what popped into my head ;)) Your new word: DEFILADE defilade n. - protection provided by obstacles or fortifications against enemy fire; v.t. arrange (fortifications) for this purpose.

This post has a possibility of getting deleted, but I say Rikuo and Kazahaya from Legal Drug would make a cute couple. I can see some definite physical attraction between them, because in the two occasions where
Kazahaya crossdresses for a mission, Rikuo thinks he's hot.
They fight most of the time, but that just proves they're close, and there is a history of fighting couples who get together in the end. Almost every chapter's opening art has them paired together doing suggestive stuff. Unfortunately, I think I heard that CLAMP stated that they weren't going to be a couple, which I find hard to believe. If someone knows about that, please PM me. But look up some of the artwork. It would be positively unfair for CLAMP to tease the fangirls like that!

Sort of true. I don't know any languages other than English that are still spoken, but I take Latin. I might take French later on, though. TPBM likes Namco's Tales series.

Xenophobes end mankind, never allowing strangers. I had a different one in The Person Below Me game. ALBANE Extra points if you know which video game character's last name that is.

True. To prove it: Xylophones entering Madrid never actually sell. TPBM likes/knows/studies Latin (as in the immortal language Latin).

Yes. I'm an egg roll fiend. TPBM has been to a country besides the one he/she currently lives in.

OOC: Based on the little poker knowledge I have, some of this could be wrong. IC: They were playing Jacks to open. Jonah had opened the betting, and by the rules they were playing, he had at least a pair of jacks. "Give me two," said Kyle, slapping two of his cards down to be discarded. Even though Kyle had scared the cheating man out of his wits, there were still three other men playing with them. Although she had kept quiet most of the game, Fang found she liked people more when playing poker, and her initial dislike of Kyle was rapidly evaporating. Fang kept her face devoid of emotion as she appraised her cards: three kings, two queens. The other people playing with them had folded, and not one of the three bounty hunters was willing to concede to the others. All they needed to do was lay there cards on the table. "Full house. Kings full of queens," she said, showing her hand. Jonah smiled. "Not bad, but this hand is mine," said Jonah confidently. He lay his cards for them to see. He had the last king, a queen, a jack, a ten, and a nine, all spades. "Royal flush, I take the pot." He reached over the table to rake in the winnings but stopped as Kyle grabbed his hand. "I haven't shown my cards," he said simply. Fang smiled briefly and creased her eyebrows, deciding that would go over better than a derisive snort. "There's nothing you can possibly have to beat that, even if you have four of a kind. Don't tell me..." Fang trailed off as Kyle put his cards down one by one. Ace of spades, Ace of hearts, Ace of diamonds, Ace of clubs, and his finl card was the game's single wild, the Joker. "You actually have five of a kind." "I'm a good card player," Kyle said as Fang watched her money disappear. She smiled at the men who had joined the game but were not part of her team. They all declined another round, leaving only her Jonah, and Kyle. Fang returned her face to its blank state as they left. She dealt another hand without asking her teammates if they wanted to keep playing. Her eyes turned cold as she said, "Now that they're gone, let's talk business. What are we going to do about the bounties, and who are we targeting first?"

Ceyla watched the water in contentment. She could tell Dalanius was unaccustomed to sea travel, but he was doing a good job of hiding any discomfort. "Cute," said Ceyla aloud. "What was that? What's cute?" mumured Dalanius. "You. You're cute." Ceyla laughed as he drew back, a look of incredulity creasing his brow. "That description might fit you, but not me. Of all the things I've ever been called, cute is not on the list," said Dalanius seriously. "Would you prefer dashingly handsome, then? Gorgeous? Eye-catching? Stunning?" Ceyla grinned cheekily. "I'm teasing, dear, although you are definitely nice to look at. You could still stand to relax a little more. Sea sickness is pretty common, especially if you haven't been to sea often. I told you once that you can tell me anything and I'll listen. The offer still stands." Dalanius held a look of mild surprise which changed to a smile. He chuckled lightly and leaned his head back against Ceyla's shoulder. In the distance Ceyla saw docks around the land's edge. It would not be long before they docked and their quest ended.

False. I usually ate the horrible cafeteria food, but now in high school I usually pack a turkey sandwich. Besides, I don't like peanut butter very much. TPBM has started an RP before.
-
Untrue. I was raised in the wild by CIA wolves, plus I'm over fifteen. And to Fluffeh, the word you are thinking of (to thow something/someone out a window) is defenestrate. TPBM likes Pepsi better than CocaCola.

Yes. Farenheit 451 is one of my favorite books. TPBM likes rare words.
