I think age plays a very important role in a relationship. Especially in grade school. Your goals, ambitions and life experiences are going to be on different levels. I am not saying that a relationship with an age gap is impossible or a bad idea, but I think it needs to be considered carefully. There are always trade offs and compromises in any relationship and obstacles will arise. If an age difference is something you come across and you are willing to tackle whatever obstacle may arise from it then jump right in. :animesmil

EVA Unit 100 Very true, I hadn't thought of it that way. :) Thanks. I haven't heard of "Mind Game" though I think I might look it up now. As for Brother Bear, you have to at least appreciate the moose. *maybe it's a Canadian thing* :D
I have to say that I am a huge fan of both Miyazaki's works and the Wallace and Gromit movies. Howl's Moving Castle was a good movie, but all Miyazaki movies are "good." Especially when compared to the book by Diana Wynne Jones (which I adore) and Miyazaki's other movies (which I love), this movie just didn't rise up to my expectations. It seemed very formulaic to me, and not enough things occurred that made me really think about life/war or what have you, or made me go "Wow, that was amazing." In all honesty, I think the Academy?s choice was just fine.
On the otherside though I can't see "Wallace and Gromit" making anyone think about life/war either. I would have liked to see Howls Moving Castle win in hopes that America had increased interest in anime which is good for all of us. The more interest in anime, the more assecible it becomes - less expensive and more variety. :)

I don't think I can keep track of all my nicknames - I get new ones almost daily. Here are a few Lewis - from that Fedex tv commercial, if any of you remember it - "You're a heck of man doing a heck of job Lewis" - My boss said that to me almost daily at work, especially if I had messed something up. :animeswea Narnia - Mostly because people can never remember my actual name and this comes close. Buffy - Back in the day when I was a welders helper and used a buffer and grinder to clean up the metal. :D I was good. Ed - My little sister called me at work one day and the girl who answered the phone thought she asked for "Ed" so she came into the rec area asking for "Ed" and of course everyone was there so when she came back and said it was for me we all had a good laugh and the name kindof stuck. So many nicknames. But those are a few :animesmil

I would definately rather be mummified. Not because of the the glory of being considered a God or anything, but I would look cool with my skin shrunken and whithered around my bones. Hopefully I would still have a few teeth , maybe they would whiten them for contrast. *colgate extra whitening toothpaste* :animesmil Alright then : Would you rather - Be caught in a snowstorm with only a rabid hyeena for warmth and company... or Be trapped on a deserted volcanic island with a pack of non-rabid hyeenas chasing you. :animesigh

I love anime because the characters are animated. Not just 'animated' as in drawn, but they come to life. And their expressions are so exaggerated. I can't count how many times a day I think "if only I were an anime character you could see how I felt". I do my best with facial expressions and hand gestures, but anime does it better. Of course in my own imagination I can picture anger marks, or stun lines etc. but for some reason no one else seems to pick up on them. They do have some fantastic story lines as well. And so many bizzare ideas that you would never find in America, like "Fruits Basket" for example, or "Ranma 1/2". Ah the looks you get when trying to explain an anime story to a non-fan. *grin*

What's your favourite colour?
Miyuri Akisato replied to ilovekyonkichi's topic in General Discussion
Oh yay, I am posting right after the warning. I had best make this good. :animesmil My favorite color is currently black, but that is only until I find something darker. I am an overlydramatic and goofy sort of girl, and yes, some might even call me a little nerdy. I don't think anyone who met me would ever guess my favorite color to be black, perhaps that is why I like it so much. It is my darker side, the one that no one ever sees. It's like a pitch black night, clear cold and littered with stars. And just as you are enjoying the anonymity of the darkness the aurora boeralis (northern lights) dash across the sky in their flourecent colors and dance, just for you. -
What is the strangest thing you've ever eatten
Miyuri Akisato replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
Spicy chocolate has to be one of the best things out there. Actually almost anything chocolate is on my edible list - except chocolate covered insects. I refuse to eat anything I have disected. *shudder* The strangest breakfast I have had is probably apples with peanut butter. Smooth is better than crunchy, otherwise you worry oyu may have gotten a worm or something. The best ethnic food I have tasted is Morroccan Hare (rabbit). I've only had it once when I was travelling and I have made plans to go back ever since, but it is a 10 hour drive so I haven't been able to justify it yet. The peacock tongue is the strangest thing I have heard of so far. Who would even think of trying to cook that. "The first person ever to cook peacock tongue" now there is a story I would pay to hear, though it is likely just some poor fellow who had no money nor food and was trying to get the most out of his peacock. Sand on the other hand isn't so rare. I used to eat sand too when I was a little little child. I blame it on an overactive imagination and being taken to the beach. :animesmil
