1. Rock. Band. Two. yea sure, the start of the campaign can and will possibly make you want to gouge your eyes out afer playing That's What You Get after the 50th time, but the much harder songs that are unlocked down the road, and the slightly expanded character creator, compensate for how much MTV had influenced the sequel. and another plus is no more ugly stand ins for campaign, yes you can build characters to fill in the vacancies, which I think is a good redeeming quality of the game.
2. Now: We Are Rockstars Artist: Does It Offend You, Yeah? Album: You Have No Idea What You're Getting Yourself Into I absolutely love this song, it's got that great balance of electronics and the conventional punk setup, it always gets me out of the dumps, or gets me out of bed when I listen to it, but since it was used in the new Fast & Furious trailer, I think that the sense of pwn created by that song, has been amplified. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LdSnZvseggw (I dont know how to post youtube videos on the OB)
3. When I saw the trailer yesterday, I had immediately thought of Michael Bay, for some reason, or it's just me. Since I'm into thriller films, and it may have something to do with F15s (I'm a sucker for fighter jets, yay military background) I might go see it.
4.
The 20GB is backwards compatible right? Not that there's too many games I want to try out again, but there are a few.
well, there is one game that is immediately BC with the 360, Halo II. as for everything else, you'll need to login to Live to check if they have emulators for the specific game you want to play to see a complete list of backwards compatable titles click Here.
5. Now: One Month Off Artist: Bloc Party Album: Intimacy The album was digitally released yesterday, which means, MASSIVE YOUTUBE LEAK. Although I dont plan on getting the digital version but that's aside from the point, apparently this is the band's Radiohead-esque album, and most of the tracks are ok, but there are a few which dig into the band's roots and they do it well, along with the whole electronic feel underneath. now, this [track] is the type of stuff that got me into them! I wish that they could properly keep the urgent feel, whilst incorporating their new electronic feel.
6. I literally start freaking out when my playlist ends in a odd number, right now my collection stands at 316 songs. another odd quirk I have is, when I watch my deaf friends sign, I can hear a digitized voice in my head putting the signs into words and reading it aloud to me the same digital voice will put the words into a coherent sentence if needed. I also have this odd fear of showing my face, or directly staring into a the camera proof is evident from my page I also have acrophobia and a fear of being crowded spaces, and conversly I also suffer from claustrophobia.
7. Now: The Idea For A Story Artist: Bloc Party This is a pretty groundbreaking track in terms of the band, it manages to distance themselves from their familiarities of dance-punk and throws them in the experemental range, when I heard Mercury for the first time I thought it was very indigestable (for the lack of a better term) then about a week later I had came across the B-side to their new single, and I must say, it's better than that electropop they tried to replicate with Mercury. To sum it up, it's better than Mercury, especially for being another electronic driven track, it's like Flux but with a much darker feel to it listen to the song Here
8. Had a dream, that was like watching me in a walk cycle, walking past the same buildings and objects and what have you for five hours -______-'

10. been trying to watch the EA Conference over at g4tv.com as of 1AM [local time] but the site cuts the video short, Right as Wright gets into Spore. I'm looking forward for that game, but I'm really excited about Rock Band II but I'm kinda frustrated that I dont get to see any media coverage of the game, also irritated about not being able to see any footage for Need For Speed: Undercover also due to the amount of lame that the video coverage G4 has given. I'm waiting on the word of Jade Raymond's next project I Am Alive and a couple more of ubi's titles, but what I really want is anything on Assassin's Creed II from what I saw at the microsoft conference, it seems to me that they dont have anything aside from Gears Of War II that got me interested, just hope sony and nintendo have something to really look forward to.
11. it's slowly getting there, but I've been spending most of my days playing the life out of Rock Band, in the past three months I've commited five all nighters to the game by myself, because my friends are too lazy to get off myspace and play the game with me. by now I'm already working on expert level drums, and hard level guitar (damn metallica!) although the vocal campaign is sitting at medium, due to the fact that I still havent downloaded the patches for the game (damn microsoft for charging $100 for a wireless router)
12. As of 20.06.08 yes I know I'm ugly.
13. I had seen a similar thread in the vdeo game section, so I thought, why don't we try to do a review thread for albums also? here's my first shot... hope it's suitable, I also encourage othe OB'ers to write reviews of albums that they've been listening to. _______________ Like Eating Glass (Zapatista Mix) / Ladytron Helicopter (Sheriff Whitey Version) / Whitey Positive Tension (Blackbox Remix) / Jason Clark Banquet (Disco Edit) / Epworth Phones Blue Light (Anti Gravity Mix) / Engineers She's Hearing Voices (Calling Your Dub Mix) / Erol Alkan This Modern Love (Making Time Remx) / Dave P & Adam Sparkles The Pioneers / m83 The Price Of Gasoline / Automato So Here We Are / Four Tet Luno / Death From Above 1979 Plans (Replanned) / Mogwai Compilments (Shibuyaka Remix) / Nick Zinner if you've heard the orignal, you'll like it or loathe it; if you recognise only a few names on the roster, you might like it the album starts with a very depressed take on Like Eating Glass by Ladytron, which gives the album a very down to earth start as opposed to the more frantic and upbeat (which is good) beginning to the orignal album, when it came time for the Helicopter remake from Whitey, I was expecting an urgent vibe akin to that of the orignal mix, but instead I was greeted with the repetition of the opening chords and sporadic percussion, punctuated with the occasional wolf howl. I thought that Jason Clark's remix of Positive Tension was well executed and left the indie ranting feel of the orignal at an acid circle, it really did a good job of tripping my ears out, but I really had adored Epworth's take on their smash hit Banquet which is basically a disco-y euro type of thing, that's hard to put into words. After the somber and moving remake of Blue Light; Erol Alkan takes center stage and spins a indie dancefloor epic out of She's Hearing Voices, which is followed by the 80s remake of This Modern Love and going through the trip hop rework of The Price Of Gas which actually, gives the track a much more urgent feel, subsequently m83's remix of The Pioneers reinforces a immesurable feeling of countless defeats portrayed by the string orchestra that has replaced the spikey guitars and crushing drumwork of the orignal. Four Tet slowly dissects and rebuilds So Here We Are from a clean pallete into a slow gitch-y walk with the feeling of being stalked through a snow white forest, looming over the track, after the space transmission, comes in Death From Above with their cover of the track Luno then Mogwai brings back that down to earth feel with their remake of Plans which after I had listened to it I was left with this sickly good feeling, the album closes with the really dark and quiet cover of Compliments by Nick Zinner, which actually did a good job of holding up the (loose) theme of melancholy, that's reflected from some of the songs on the album and the artwork on the cd packaging. overall, if you're a Bloc Party fan, it's worth checking out if you're a fan of one of the bands/artists on the roster, it's worth checking out if you're a Bloc fan and know about most of the artists/bands on the roster, it's worth picking up. Recommended Tracks - The Pioneers / m83 - Luno / Death From Above 1979 - Banquet / Epworth Phones - Plans (Replanned) / Mogwai Final Verdict: B- (most of the tracks are well done, but some of them have much left to be desired.)
14. - a man can jump 50ft from the ground, with the assistance of a rocket launcher (Team Fortress II) - if a friend fails, scream into the microphone to bring them back; be advised, attempting this maneuver in public will not be as successful (Rock Band) - driving through a petrol station will fill the car with a more potent variant of nitrous oxide, free of charge (Burnout Paradise) - Zombies + Fire = Funny screaming (Half Life II) - conversly, Zombie + Grenade = a loss of 25hp (Half Life II: Episodes I & II) - in the future, the fate of mankind turns into a space opera... with alot of talking. (Mass Effect) - did you just fall into that pit of spikes? hit rewind, and think harder next time. (Prince Of Persia) - scantrons turn into note charts. (Guitar Hero II) - no matter how fast I'll drive into the wall, I'll drive away with no signs of damage (Gran Turismo IV) - when a man sustains damage in war, all he needs to do is wait it out and he'll be good as the day he was deployed (Call Of Duty IV) - being half demon is cooler than being a ninja (Devil May Cry IV) - sleeping in a cardboard box will help a man cross enemy lines (Metal Gear Solid Series) - calling a phone number will distract the authorities from pursuing a criminal (Grand Theft Auto IV)
15. My friends wanted me to dj at a local party, and I havent been called upon to chaparone my musical taste for a loaded house party before, so I wn ahead and downloaded a bunch of electronica, aside from Justice and The Prodigy that I am used to, I stumbled along this track after that Erol Alkan remix played: Now: Satisfaction Artist: Benny Benassi Album: Hypnotica I dont know what it is about this track, but it's really infectious and it's one of those tracks that keeps the bodies moving.
16. I've been playing GTA IV for the past couple of days, and I have to say it's pretty damned good. really sucks that I have to return it tommorow. I'll end up quelling my GTA fix with more Rock Band, heard that the new Disturbed tunes came out this week, I might download Inside The Fire along with all those other tunes I've been wanting. other than GTA and Rock Band, I downloaded Audiosurf [demo] from steam this morning, and I just have to say, it's really addicting, aside from being a rythmn game, it's given me a chance to expand my playlist, what I dont understand is what is the difference between the demo and actually buying the game?
17. finished the campaign of Call Of Duty IV about two months ago which had some tough sections, even on standard difficulty, playing the game I learned: that a man shouldnt go in with his machine gun just going off, YOU WILL GET SHOT. it's taught me how to utlize the enviroment around me, and that teamwork does pay off [while playing live at a friends house] now I'm at another dilemma, purchase Grand Theft Auto IV or get live for Rock Band?
18. Now: Inside The Fire Artist: Disturbed Album: Indestructable For the first single off their next album, it's a pretty powerful one. The lyrics haunt me alot, due to the fact that the song deals with suicide, and I, myself am a sucide survivor, this song ALWAYS reminds me that sucide is not the answer, and the instrumentals are really good. on a lighter note: the song will also be in Rock Band by 03.06.08
the video's kinda creepy though

19. During my off time from the OB, preparing for Prom, finals, and what have you, I've tripped across this really interesting downloadable application U-myx, which basically allows the user to remix songs without the really confusing software. After tinkering with it for a couple of months I've finished three different remixes all under the pseudonym of Alex Walker, and the one I've recently finished is a team effort between a friend and I, since then I havent been able to stop listening to it. Click here to listen Now: Flux [The Walker And Delacroix Mix] Artist: Bloc Party (Remixed By Alex Walker And Alicia Delacroix) HTML isn't enabled in this forum so I changed what would have been your Flash player into a link. - Petie
Consider me axed.
Echo that, I've got really important things to do [dont try to organise your prom date, two weeks before the big dance] and finals too. -____-' well not really axed, per si, but I'll be back in june.

22. As the door quietly closed the four stood in the entry way, as Felix took off his shoes, his brother leapt off the couch, ran at him and gave a hug. "See? I told you I'd be ok...? Felix whispered, as the two walked back into the living room, he motioned the other three to take their shoes off. As they did, they noticed how sparse the house was. They still stood there in the entryway, as if the house was a threat. "C?mon, my house won?t bite! Come in, make yourselves at home...? Felix said in a harsh whisper, as the three settled into the living room, Felix noticed Victor in the kitchen, waving to get his attention. When Felix made eye contact Victor had began to sign, "Who are they, brother?? Felix looked confused, like he didn?t know who his brother was talking about, then he looked behind him and remembered. He signed back, "Oh, these are the people I told you about... the ones coming over and staying for a bit... ", he pointed to each person and began to fingerspell their names. Victor then nodded, and waved hello. Juliet got up and walked to the kitchen, began looking through the cupboard and pantry, she was stopped by Victor who slapped the table, and signed for her to stop. Victor began to sign something again, but Juliet looked confused, "He says, don?t cook lady, I already ordered pizza.", Felix said in another harsh whisper, then he had felt something reverberate from the kitchen floor, the other two had begun to rise from the couch, but Juliet had motioned for them to sit down... After all this was Felix's home, and she didn?t want them getting hurt. He quickly darted out of the kitchen and up the stairs into his room. The door flew open, and he noticed that music was being played through the speakers of his computer, he had stopped the music, and it was the throbbing drums and dark synths of the new Ladytron track. He noticed his sister sleeping on his bed, he shook her, and she had roused. The three remained downstairs, in the living room, with Victor writing things down on a pad of paper, it was being passed around and written on between the four of them. Felix dragged Tigan down the stairs and gave her a harsh whisper, "Y'know, you're not supposed to be in my room..." He whispered in a harsh tone, she whispered back, "Marcus, I just needed to check on how my boyfriend was doing..." He let her go and signed, "Then you fall asleep on my bed in the process?", he let out a heavy sigh, and apologised, he whispered that he had found people who would help him cope with his powers, it was just the sheer excitement that materialised, he couldn?t keep a level head. Then the lights flickered in the house, Felix noticed the pizza delivery guy at the door, he picked up the cash on the table, opened the door and paid for the food. He walked back to the dining table, Tigan put down six paper plates and whispered to Juliet that there were two guest rooms upstairs if they needed them, as they began going for the pizzas, the silence was finally broke by Nam. "Why is the house so quiet and why do you whisper so much?" Tigan answered in a whisper, "Keep it down, we don?t want Victor to fret because there are so many vibrations pulsating through the house!" She then signed to Felix, "Brother, I don?t like them...Why are they here anyways?? He whispered back. "They could help me with my powers."
23. I do miss a few people back from when I was getting the bearings down: Lava Lamp / Molly: I miss my sister alot, she got the epic fail hammer after a e-romance blossomed, and now she's banned from the OB by her parents. the only way to keep in touch with her is through aim, and that really isnt reliable because she always falls asleep while texting on her phone. KingEarthEater / David: This guy was also one of the few people I met here, and he's pretty cool, this guy managed to help me find faith in God again, after long talks about life in general, we also still keep in touch through aim, but that isnt reliable because of his schedule. Keyblade Wielder [Riku] / Tiana: She's the girl who got me into the whole mess of the OB, and I want to thank her for that because if I wasnt turned to the OB, my life wouldnt be as interesting as it is now.
I know she's not going to read that, she wants me dead.

If only we had the money to hold a big OB meetup. That'd be a lot of fun.
that would be, I'd bring Rock Band down, just to see how people react to playing together as a band. =]
24. Getting ready for university has reared its ugly head on me, and now my life is becoming a traffic jam, when I do find the time to hang out, I just sit around listening to music or playing the guitar. If the weather's nice I go out for a run, not just a causal jog, but more of those: "holy-crap!-run-for-your-life!"-type-of runs If everything else doesnt work, I usually sit around and read a book or play the piano.
25. Now: The Attack Of The Sixty Foot Lesbian Octopus Artist: Does It Offend You, Yeah? Album: You Have No Idea What You're Getting Yourself Into as absurd as the band name, album and song title are [c'on does it look like I'd make this up?] along with its length of two minutes, this song is one of those instrumentals to mosh to on a friday night. puking, partying and getting shut down by the cops included
