Full disclosure: I'm just posting to kill time. It's still going to be another hour or so before I can go home and watch the ending. Apparently there are some differences (I'm getting the impression that they're more subtle than major) between the anime & manga endings, which makes me even more eager & curious to see 37 for myself. *bangs head on keyboard* ~Dagger~
Ugggh, don't tell me thaaaat. I mean how drastically can they really change it anyway, I suppose whatever the case may be I could always read the end of the manga after watching the final episode. It just better not be dissapointing overall. I don't see how a series like this can be ruined by a sub-par ending.
Of course he would. He's Light!
Revealing yourself at the crucial point makes more of an impact doesn't it? And he likes making that impact. He also revealed himself to Raye's fiance and only because he knew he was going to kill her anyway. I'm thinking he wanted to give her the feeling of impending doom.

In every other case he revealed himself, the death of each member was in his own hands. He knew for certain that it would be the last thing they would ever hear. The situation with Near is a little more careless of him because despite
giving out instructions for his lap dog to create a false book, he has no way of being certain what has happened between that time, and current time.
The means of death are not in his hand, but on an extension of his will, as certain as he may feel it is...the sensation of it all is blinding him to the possible fallacies of his intended plan. Of course, this'll all be sorted out in a matter of hours...but if Light is not victorious like I said in my last post, this will be the reason why.

Food, period. I love food and I love eating. Ask me in 20 years when my supernatural metabolism and ability to stay in good shape through it all is gone and I may say differently, but my taste buds will probably still be on my side...so not too much differently. lol But in any case...specific addictions...Quiznos turkey sandwiches. Turkey ranch and swiss or smoked turkey. Love em, used to order one or two a week. I love turkey sandwiches in general, but those are the best. I used to have an addiction to vanilla coke before i tried to stop drinking soda.

A little message from our dear host from her LJ >.>
It's not here. Just a hint; while you are on the right track, I haven't put any clues in my personal blogs and such. I'm also pretty confused as how you all got here in the first place, hah. And to my LJ people, I've been awake for close to 24 hours now. Its pretty cool how I get more and more hyper as it gets earlier and earlier. A little while ago Caitlin and I moshed around in the kitchen. Wheeeeee.
Lol, I guess that takes care of that lead. As for the word, Ombra would most definitely be translated to Shadow, and Morti to death if we were to look at it that way, Umbra meaning shadow in Latin and Mortis meaning death. However I suspect it is simply a username used by Clurr for certain things, as it was mentioned as "posted by" on the site with the vid, and her LJ confirms she made it for this game. As well as it being the name on the myspace profile, so we can probably rule that out as any part of a clue as well. The song and the clue given on the myspace profile are still leads to be followed though.

If we're talking about terrible villains with extremely little to no credability or build up, please god...do not forget Vayne Solidor.
So where are all the great female villains? Has more than one been mentioned in this entire thread? ~Dagger~
Didn't see any in your list >.> (kidding :p) Well The Boss is debateable but I guess it depends how you see her. Like I said, she isn't really a villain but she's one of the best characters ever made. Other than that...can't really think of any noteable female villains myself. General Petrine from Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance was kind of cool up until the point
she admits to being afraid to die and apologizing for her failure
during The Great Bridge.

That link leads to a reply to this thread. Unless that's the point in which case I'm lost. lol
Psycho Mantis[/b'] from Metal Gear Solid is another amazing villain simply because he was an unusual bad guy that scared the crap out of me when he turned my whole tv screen black.
That reminds me, Liquid Snake is right up there too. I think it's more the amazing voice acting then anything else, but he has that "in control" awesome sounding voice. That and playing both sides of the battlefield to keep track of Snake was deception at it's best. I have to say he lost some credability with me when he took over the body of a MGS villain that has more of my favor, and that kind of made things weird all around for me as an ocelot fan. In any case though, in MGS alone, he was a fantastic antagonist.

Diary alive makes me think of Livejournal, yet I cannot confirm because for some reason the site is giving me problems. The three words could refer to the title of the song though, "She's lost control"...using that in conjunction with livejournal in some way, perhaps a username or a title could be one way to go. I am also trying to figure out if "Ombramorti" has any significance, and incorporating that the profile says from Palermo Italy, it could be an italian word. Again, that's just one way of looking at it, but it could play another significance or none at all.

Mary's hands were shaking, her whole body followed not too long after. She felt as if she couldn't make a sound even if she wanted to, which in this case probably would have came in handy considering she would prefer that she wasn't noticed over having to pull the trigger once again. Brittany leaped out of her apron and stood by Mary's foot, her head swaying back and forth, probably trying to shake off the subtle effects of whatever had happened moments ago. 'walk away...just walk away, walk away....don't come in here...' Mary repeated to herself. Despite having the gun it was a different feeling then when she had shot Katar. The old saying goes "It's always easier the second time", but it felt like the exact opposite. She almost felt guilty that the situation where she had almost no problem pulling the trigger had more to do with the protection of someone else, and yet here she felt a stronger sense of fear that her own life was more in danger. It was natural and made more sense than Mary gave herself credit for, but she tried to help matters by convincing herself that she was doing it to protect Brittany, eventhough she probably had a better chance of getting away in her cat form. The footsteps suddenly stopped, taking all the fuel out of Mary's train of thought instantly. She almost let out a yelp, but it was muffled by the dryness in her throat. She held the pistol higher and tried to keep it as steady as possible, fixated on the middle so she wouldn't miss. 'Maaaary...' 'W...what was that!?' Mary's heart began pounding so hard that she was afraid the noise would give herself away. The eerie voice inside her head, it drew involuntary tears from her eyes as she tried to still herself. 'You're going to die here...' 'N...no....stop! Stop talking to me...!' Even the voice Mary used to think with was shaky and frightened, she felt like bursting into tears despite not realizing they were already streaming down her cheeks. They flowed as if a dam had been shattered, but she could only feel cold and fear. It was then Mary's attention was drawn by the turning of the knob. The door slowly opened while Mary tried to jolt herself out of her frozen state. Suddenly she just thrusted her hands forward and with all of her might pulled the trigger, as if it were the heaviest thing in the world. "GO AWAAAAAAY! LEAVE ME ALONE!" Mary screamed, not even acknowledging whether or not the gun was firing. She just continued squeezing and screaming until she got light-headed. All the noise had stopped, Mary's strength gave out...she had no concept of how much time had passed...she just stayed in place on all fours panting and trying to catch her breath. She shook her head and glanced down to make sure Brittany was still there, which she was. She stood there innocently, it was rather easy to forget that it was Brittany and not just a regular cat. 'Mary...' 'W...what!? No, I thought...' '...Mary...' Mary clenched her fists as tight as she could and gritted her teeth down, she felt a second's relief before she heard her name again...she couldn't take it anymore. She flung her body forward flailing her arms wildly. She felt herself hitting something rather hard, and something a lot wider then what her target should have been. "MARY! Calm down...it's me!" The voice she heard was now louder and clearer...she looked up and saw herself slamming her little fists into Oromis. He stood there looking down at her, his left arm around her shoulders. "O...Oromis?" she asked, meekly. "It's ok...just stop hitting me." "B...but...it was you the whole time!? Oh my god, are you ok? I shot you so many times...I...I can't believe..." "Whoa whoa...what are you talking about? Shot me?" "I thought it was her...I somehow got the gun...and I just aimed...I was scared, and I shot...did I hit you!?" Mary was almost hysterical. Oromis meanwhile just looked confused. He glanced over at Etamet who just returned his glance with a shrug. "Mary, you didn't have a gun...and you didn't shoot anybody. You were just screaming." Oromis explained to her. "...but...I..." Mary couldn't speak anymore as she just collapsed in Oromis's arms. Oromis shook his head and sighed. He couldn't even begin to imagine what kind of psychological phenomena Mary was experiencing between the woman she created with her thoughts and all the screaming she did when he opened the door. Etamet leaned down and picked Brittany up, who stood by for the entire ordeal. "What do you think happened?" Etamet asked, as they both turned around to head back to Delita. "Not a clue...but you remember what Delita said...If what Mary was saying about having a gun is true, it might have been her way of defeating that women in her thoughts. Can't say for sure...but she certainly came out fighting. She's a lot braver then she thinks she is." Oromis thought aloud. Brittany contributed a "meow" as they headed back toward the stairs.
As lame as a reason this might be, I honestly think the number one, biggest factor as to why no one really seems to like him is how he dresses.
As lame a reason as it sounds...it's indeed hard to argue with. Heh. But beneath that disturbing androgynous atmosphere beats the unwavering heart of a true villain.
I forgot where I've seen it, but I also saw Bison being called Vega and Vega being called Bison. A translation thing I think. Anyway. The Boss (MGS3) - Probably the best villain in the gaming industry till this day. I hated it when she kept stripping my gun(s). But then again, I never got the hang of CQC so that was my fault. What else is there to say about her... Ocelot (MGS3) - I like the younger version instead of the older version. He was more flashy. Now only if he could still do most of that stuff as is he now....
I agree with both, except that I don't consider The Boss to be a villain so to speak. All because you
fight her
doesn't really do it for me to call her a word associated with antagonist. Her story is much more complicated than that, and there's a lot to appreciate about her then just simply labeling her as something so simple. However she is one of the best characters in gaming history, that I agree with. Definitely a pleasent change from the typical female role that many VG girls have come to play nowadays (not that I don't like those roles either...), The Boss is someone I can admire on another level for a lot of things associated with her personality and qualities...and coming from me that means quite a lot. The same could be said about Ocelot, but only taking MGS3 into consideration. Taking the entire series it's safe to eventually be able to call him a rightful villain. Either way, whether it's young ocelot or old ocelot, he's one of the coolest cats out there no doubt. That being said, some other villains on my top list, let's see... -Kuja from FF9: A terribly underrated antagonist for whatever reason, possibly due to the status of the game itself in relation to it's sister games. In any case, Kuja is extrordinarily clever and has the mental game down, which is hands down the most important part about being a villain. You have to be headstrong, you have to be intellegent, and you have to be several steps ahead of the good guys. A brilliant mind makes that all possible. He may not be as hands on as many other villains out there, but that's not a big deal considering his personality. -Kharan Ramsus from Xenogears: A skilled combatant driven by his inferiority complex to simply be the better man. It's the way a classic rivalry should be, and Ramsus brings it to life with his heartfelt dialogue, his sincere ambition, and the increasing changes in his personality throughout the game that turn him into a frightful foe on the battlefield, and just a tad bit more and more unstable in the head. That isn't to be mistaken for weak-willed however, as Ramsus never once gives up, never ones loses sight of his true goal, and always manages to bring himself together when it counts. In light of everything he goes through as well, his loyal followers "The Elements" always stay by his side. Plus, Vendetta is a friggen cool looking gear. -Jack Krauser from Resident Evil: He's cool and he just plain kicks ***...nothing really more to be said there. Plus, he's the funnest character to play in RE4 and the battle against him (the actual one, not the button prompt one) is one of the most exhilirating boss battles in the game's genre. -The Turks from FF7: Enough said...

Excellent work putting us back into a winning position, White. Tiana, it's all up to you know ;). You can do it, time to put all that mod stalking experience to productive use, hehe. Make sure you're thorough and all will turn out well.

The most obvious part of this seems to be "A place for friends", a possible reference to Myspace.com, as it is the motto. Now to look around a bit to see if anything else matches up, though I have to admit i'm not entirely sure in what manner we are meant to extract the answer from.

Discuss The Panopticon Underground [M-LSV]

Hmm...so it seems Sandy drawing first blood this round depends on when I make my post. Hmmm...lol, nah I wouldn't want to deprive him of that joy. My post will be up later today, and then we can bring this baby down to it's conclusion. P.S - I hope somebody likes their new cat :p. -
Well I definitely like your counter rap a lot more than your original one, hopefully things play out well and your rap superiority is acknowledged :p. Be ready, Tiana...you're gonna have to bring it all home to us if White pulls off the win.

My god...help me. I can't stop watching the damn opening to this show. I havn't even seen a single episode yet (nor will I probably start watching it) but I stumbled upon this on youtube yesterday and it's trying to attack my brain with cuteness overload. Though now I finally know what the hell is in Desbreko's sig.

I'm going to assume the pillow case has something to do with Mikuru and possibly Haruhi with her. I say assume because the link provided leads me to nowhere.

"Share a room with the terrorist? If this is some kind of joke you guys can give it up now. I'm as dedicated as the next guy here, but it's a mistake letting her roam around here let alone giving her board." I heard Gavin say, clearly in objection of Engel's room decisions. I walked over slowly, just in case something were to break out. Engel would have needed help if those two started going at it. I began to wonder about agent Gavin though, as sympathetic that I can be with his point of view he was acting up and unnecessarily dumping himself emotionally. There were better ways of dealing with it, I thought. "Look, I'm not that thrilled either but we can be mature about this." Crystia exclaimed. She seemed willing enough to deal with it, but then again that could go either way in terms of figuring out whether or not Crystia was trustworthy. It would actually have been understandable for her to have the same objections Gavin did. In any case, we had lost a member and no matter how little the number one may seem, it's a hit to our ranks regardless. Crystia filled our ranks, and we had to look at it positively right now. The CTU is full of vigilant members, especially now since the explosion. If there is trechery in the air, we will catch wind of it. "Look guys..." Engel began to say, though the looping didn't have to persist. I've seen disputes like this before and it was best to give them their space from one another in order to keep things civil for the proper amount of time needed to gain each other's trust. "Gavin, you can take my room. Turn the hallway and a few doors to the left." I said, volunteering my room to be switched in order to keep the peace. Gavin just glanced around at the three of us before reluctantly walking off, passing me by on his way. I could hear him whispering to me to keep an eye on Crystia. I didn;t have to be told, it was my intent, but I'd keep it quieter than he would. This would be the ideal way of determining for myself how sincere she was being. "What about your stuff?" Engel asked me. "Don't have much to begin with, whatever I need i'll have moved in an hour." I assured him. Crystia looked at me with an unsure look on her face, I couldn't tell if she was suspicious, relieved, or something else. Gavin walked slowly down the hall, I extended my hand to Crystia. She slowly extended hers and shook it, her grip was increasingly tight though it started off softly. "Throne, a pleasure i'm sure. Though i'm not sure I can say that you fully trust me either." she mentioned. I didn't recall introducing myself...someone else must have said something to her, possibly Engel while he was giving them the "grand tour". In any case, she was right...but would a defecting terrorist expect any less? It seemed like it was a given. "You're right, but I see no harm in switching my roommate to a female." I said with a smile. I'm sure that was enough to ease down any tension that was there at the current time, though despite my cheesy and obvious attempt at being "cool", I didn't think anyone would be foolish enough to take the serious issue out of the back of their mind. The rooming arrangements were the least of our problems though, so I also wanted to end it as quickly as possible, as best as possible. It was time to put our heads together and meet our next mission head on. I walked off after some more small talk with Crystia, not really concerned about Gavin settling down in what was still technically my room. There wasn't that many important things there, mostly anything I needed essential to the missions I kept on myself. Anything else was locked up anyway. I noticed some of the other members eating as I walked by, I checked my watch and that's when it hit me that there was something I left out in the open in my room. "Dammit! If he touches my turkey sandwich i'll kill him myself..." I said to myself aloud.

I have not read the manga at all, hence the contents of my posts, lol. I pray intently that the ending to the anime is not dissapointing, but in the case that it is OR if it has not encased everything in the manga, I will begin to read it. I'd really very much rather this series be perfect from beggining to end though. That being said, that
L mask
was certainly creepy, lol. I had absolutely no concept of time when I watched episode 36, when it stopped and said to be continued, I virtually screamed at my monitor. I cannot wait for the last episode. The cats pretty much out of the bag now,
whether Light's plan worked or whether Near's plan worked
means everything to Light's success and no matter what, there's going to be no turning back. The suspense is beautiful ;p. As much as I admire's Light's intellect, forsight, and resoucefulness...I do think it's a mistake to underestimate Near simply because he's comparing his methods to L's.
Certainly Near is no L, but his methods are simply different, rather then inferior. Light might not be taking that into consideration, so if the final eposide does yield a failure for Light's ambition, that would be the reason. Judging someone's plan relative to another is the same was judging someone's worth relative to another, it won't speak accurately of their true potential. It's a matter of that, versus whether or not Near is truly too inept to contest Light. I do not think Near has what it takes, but it's coming down to the wire now. One mistaken move up until the current point will make all the difference in the world.
Can't wait to see how things finally unfold. Though it does seem that
Misa
is pretty much in the clear, so yay for that. :)
Also am I the only one who thinks its a bit lame that the coolest moves aren't available until after you beat the game? I mean I love the better moves. Before I didn't care but now? I really like them. ^_^
Actually, as much as I love the after-game moves I was and still am quite infatuated with Gravity Bullet and Laser Beams :p.
Walking down the street I know Mike the smelly hobo will be yelling at people, fighting another hobo or taking a nap as I have been forced to deal with him so many times. That does not make him the superstar of the street. It makes him Mike the smelly hobo. Do not confuse hobodom with superstardom.
Indeed the best way to put it. Another way of saying it would be the difference between fame and infamy as SunfallE pointed out. But uh, I happen to be a fan of this example more. Lesse, I fit into method three and twelve respectively, though most of my writing has been done in the adventure square for the majority of my duration here. Oh wait, method nine too *cough*. Heh, well I suppose I'll leave that for the ladies to decide. In any case, I happen to agree with Des fitting into method four...I mean the dude has a fan club, who even made a website about him, and they sport it proudly in their sigs. In fact he even has a fanboy. I think that's the definition of cult of creepy stalkers :p. *protects self from SunfallE*

Discuss The Panopticon Underground [M-LSV]

If I may have everyone attention please. My article for the OB newspaper on The Panopticon is almost complete, but there is something I'd like from each of you in order to add to it. ASAP, I'd like it if everyone would PM me three of their favorite death scene posts thus far. Thanks ahead of time :). -
My best subject was Math. I loved taking it since it was the one class I always got a good grade in and I loved figuring out the bonus questions my teacher would throw in there just for fun. Most of the time I'd get them right too.
...Weirdo >.>
Kidding :p...well...no, i'm not. But you're still cool. Hehe
I've always hated Math, though it seems while I was in elementary school I was a wiz at it. I guess I just lost it when i went into JHS, or was simply introduced to a plethora of more interesting subjects. Both i'm sure are pivotal contributing factors. Not to mention theres a sound difference between simple math, and the crap you gotta learn when you're in HS/college. Why, the moment I got into college and found out that science and math were clumped together to represent a single category for required classes to graduate, I took all science classes and not a single math class, heh. My best subjects in high school were easily anything english based. I excelled at writing, reading, and made class discussions seem rather easy. Though I actually only read about 3-4 books completely from beggining to end throughout all of my high school years, all the rest i just skimmed through or didn't bother...mostly it was unessential to actually read the books to pass the tests. All you had to do was pay attention in class, and let the answer to everyone's questions make up your mental notes, heh. As an elective in english, my senior year I took a creative writing class which was by far my favorite class I've ever taken. Not only was my teacher a hot grad student, but I really did some of my best writing then, whether it was poetry, short stories, or scripts. It was fun. I also did very well in almost every gym class I took (mostly weight training and handball, but all students were required to take two team sports gyms at some point), most sciences (I did mediocre in chemistry), and history. There were no real acting or theater classes during high school, but i took part in quite a few productions. Met most of my friends that way, and it was always fun because I was always an important part ;). In college, my best classes were always psychology, english, and philosophy clases. Anything involving critical and creative thinking, writing, and discussions/debates were pretty much my strong points.
