All in all, it was definately a good game. Playing that card game takes it's toll as well. Plus and Random rules are stupid. >_>
Indeed Random rules suck, especially if for some reason you don't want to part with your lower cards (reason that makes most sense is for card refinement) because most of the time you're lucky to get one good card. Unfortunatley I managed to spread the rule throughout a few regions without even realizing it and it pretty much killed the card game for me until I got everything I needed from refinement.
I was thinking about my 1st 10-20 minute playthrough, and it got me wondering. When catching demons, can you catch more than one of the same type? Every time I went to talk to a, let's say a fairy, it would say something about her comrade (or something) and leave. Does that mean I have to get a specific item to get multiples of the same demons?
You can hold more of the same type of class of demon, for instance two yomas or two divines, but not two of the same exact type of that class. I forget if fairy is the class or if pixie is the class (I believe it's fairy), but whichever the class is is the one you can have more than one of, but a demon will comment on you already having a [insert his or her type of demon here] and not join, for instance having two of Forneus or two of Orthros will not happen. They'll tell you things like "Take care of him" or "I won't travel with you". Same goes for fusions, you will simply not be able to create the same exact type of demon with the same or different formula once you've obtained one.

Raindrops adorned the streets of London with it's rapid splatter, the sounds of which engulfed the hallways of Buckingham Palace as it put one particular vampire at ease. Very little if anything nowadays caused Virgil Kingston much stress, but as far back as he could remember he always enjoyed the rain more then a simple dark sky. Even despite his most earliest memory being laying in wet streets with his blood creating seperate streams within larger ones of water. Over four centuries, you tend to lose all of your squeamishness and indecisiveness and replace it with impeccable judgement and a very calm yet confident disposition. Virgil walked the halls of the palace, the streets, and gauntlets of conflict in the name of the SOLF and the Augustine Clan not requiring the rain's help to regulate his mood, but it was the luxary of having it that he enjoyed; not the neccesity. The experienced vampire chief of the SOLF turned toward a room guarded by two vampires, one a dark skinned male the other a blond male with a buzzcut. Five feet from the double doors, the guards bowed their heads and opened the doors for Virgil allowing him entry. Virgil walked through not giving the guards a second look, he passed two large windows about three times his own height, they faced each other as if sandwiching him between one another. No sun shone through them, and only traces of moonlight, most of which was concealed by the storm clouds. Through one more door at the end of this corridor was Virgil's destination, through it he was in the presence of several other clan members, many of them talking amongst themselves and looking over a lot of paper work, some associated with SOLF initial releases concerning internal affairs, others concerning political matters. Virgil stopped infront of a particular desk, a female vampire with long braided blond hair sat behind it with her legs up on the desk while she compared two prints side by side. Her shin-length high heeled boots crossed one another with her legs tightly hugged together, hiding well what was concealed underneathe her leather skirt. Virgil put a lightened smile on his face, the kind that set a room of uptight employees at ease in a meeting room after a poor month of productivity. "Don't pretend you didn't know I was coming, Sara." Virgil spoke in a less than serious tone. The blond looked up and returned a grinning expression to him. "You think I'm just sitting here and slacking off? It's right over there." Sara responded, nodding her head toward the right corner of her desk. There lay a large brown envelope tied down with string, with a blank white label on it. Virgil reached over and took it underneathe his arm. "It's everything? Including the Sellafield file?" Virgil inquired, a bit surprised at how thin the envelope was. "I checked it over myself, sir." she answered, giving Virgil a reassuring smile. "Excellent! Who says good help is hard to find these days?" Virgil joked as he quickly went over which papers were in the envelope, not really reading through any of them yet. Sara looked up momentarily and noticed a small book hanging out of Virgil's coat pocket, she was curious as to why he would be carrying around that particular book. "The Holy Bible, sir?" she asked in a confused tone. Virgil looked up and then referred his eyes to his pocket. "Why yes, is that so odd? Afterall, you don't have to believe in order to enjoy a good story, my dear." Virgil responded, giving the blond haired office worker a nod and a wave goodbye. He returned to the main corridor and waved for two of the clansmen to accompany him. The followed behind Virgil, closely on each side of him slightly behind. "Just us, sir?" one of them asked, as they walked toward the front entrance. "No, there's someone else I want to bring. Once we get outside just wait by the stairs for me." Virgil instructed, as the two clansmen nodded in agreement. Once they exited out to the large courtyard, Virgil leaped up in a single bound to the rooftop and walked silently toward the east edge. There he saw Linett, going through one of her from time to time activities when it rains. His understanding for this seemingly tortured vampire was strangely more on the mark then most others of the clan could possibly come to understand. Linett was often looked toward scornfully and at other times just simply looked down upon. Virgil had seen all kinds in his time, all kinds of vampires and all kinds of humans as well. He was a true living testimony to the benefits of experience in any aspect of life. "You'll catch a cold." Virgil said loud enough for her to hear. Linett didn't act surprised though she became aware of Virgil's presence rather late. She didn't rush to cover herself either, she acted rather calmly and simply considering who it was that came upon her. She whipped her braids out of her face and slowly brought herself to her feet. She looked at Virgil out of the corner of her eyes, an expression on her face indicating she didn't generally appreciate the humor in his comment. "You've hung around humans for too long a time, Virgil." she said, indicating how easy it would be for a mere human to catch a cold from the cold rain falling onto them. "Perhaps, but I've spent more time with my fellow vampire then I care to admit." Virgil said, walking just a bit from his leaning position. "Yet you join the clan, and accept responsibility of an SOLF chief." Linett added, her walking a bit toward Virgil, figuring he wouldn't have gone to see her in her rooftop spot if it wasn't for a reason. "When you've lived as long as I have, you come to realize that the future will happen no matter what. Every progressive concept spanning between pre-napoleonic european time and current day have ushered in the new gold standard for living regardless of menial protesting or skeptical conservative viewpoints. If the future is to come, the best thing we can do for it is see it through safely and make sure we don't screw things up too bad." Virgil explained, though Linett barely took in everything he was trying to get at. She just turned her head and rolled her eyes, she had not really intended to question Virgil's reason for where he is now, she trusted that he knew full well his reasons for everything he does. "If you say so. Well, what is it?" Linett asked, wanting to cut to the chase rather then engage in a discussion. "What is what? Can't I just come to visit and say Hi?" Linett just gave Virgil a brief glare, as he just laughed a bit to himself. "Come now. But since you asked, I want you to come with me to meet with an associate of mine. It will do you good." Virgil said, genuinely wanting Linett to get out of the palace for a while. Before she could say anything though, the sound of footsteps came from the direction of the stairs Virgil had come up. Footsteps of someone who didn't care much if they were heard or possibly a vampire who had not yet fully grasped the concept of silent stepping. Virgil heard his name called, as Linett just sneered at the higher pitched female's voice. A dark haired female dressed in a thick strapped tank top and rather short black skirt with nothing else on below it minus a pair of high heels. The make up on her face and the way she walked was definitive. She walked quickly to Virgil's side and took his arm into her hands. "Finally found you. When Sara told me where you were going I thought I could come along." Helena said, her eyes focused on Virgil's face and almost completely ignoring Linett. Linett just seemed to stare daggers at Helena without saying a word. "It's not neccesary, my dear. It's merely a retrieval trip." Virgil assured her. Helena caught Linett's gaze out of the corner of her eyes, turning her head to see it completely now. She sidestepped slightly closer to Virgil as if almost behind him now. "So that's it, is it?" Linett spoke, now aware of where they were going. The only "retrieval" trips someone of Virgil's status ever made more then likely directly involved with SOLF/Sellafield matters. Of course anyone that went with Virgil only served to be witnesses, and in case anything went wrong he preferred to keep a low profile on the extent of his physical abilities. "Let me come, Virgil. The palace is so empty, and now your making a business trip. Things have been so busy lately, and rather boring because of it!" Helena persisted, giving Virgil her pouty lips and eyes treatment. Her beautiful face was often something that could easily convince Virgil to say "yes" to a multitude of things. Linett just rolled her eyes inside her mind, while keeping her unwavering stare. "Well...I suppose it couldn't hurt. Wait for me by the Navigator and I'll be right there, my sweet." Virgil said, taking Helena's chin with his fingers and smiling. Helena widened her smile, satisfied. She took a shortcut and leaped off the roof toward the front. "Heh, and to think a few years ago she couldn't do that confidently." Virgil said as he watched Helena run off. Linett walked up to Virgil and just stood there looking at him. "I assumed you came to ask me?" she said. If Virgil didn't know any better he would have said she sounded annoyed. "Of course, so let's be on our way!" Virgil said, bowing slightly and extending his arm toward the front indicating that they were ready to leave. Linett just crossed her arms. Virgil looked up from his bow and noticed her posture. "I mean, please! Let us be on our way." Virgil said with a grin, Linett dropping her arms and nodding slightly. "Let's." was all she said. Virgil put his hand up to Linett's cheek playfully and smiled as he leaned in a little bit toward her. "Such a polite young lady." he said, again delving into some humor concerning what you would normally say to a human. She just looked down a bit, allowing Virgil to keep his hand there but not seeming too thrilled about his comment. Eventhough she was indeed a polite person at heart with an appreciation for manners. She began to walk off so they could leave. "Hey, don't get into any spats with Jacob and Florian ok. I won't have any fighting before, during, or after we leave." Virgil said, referring to his two followers he took along with him from back in the office. He followed behind Linett, assuming she had heard him. One of Virgil's very few strict policies concerned the touching or attacking of his men, even if they did provoke it. He himself usually handled diciplinary actions for his follower's questionable actions or rudeness. 'Something in the air definitly smells odd tonight.' Virgil thought to himself as he took a moment to stare up into the sky before leaping down from the roof.
The tiers are based on tournament results, not so much on how good a character supposedly is. So of course you can do well with lower tier characters, they just aren't as popular. (Which makes winning with them all the sweeter, I find)
What you wrote in parenthesis is what I as alluding to. The pride felt in using those characters better then most of the higher tier characters in the hands of other players. As for Marth and Roy, i tend to use both...i prefer Roy most of the time because his counter, >B combos, and smash attacks are more effecient, but marth has the advantage in weak strike combos and his ^B move is a handy sideways killer if your opponent's health is high enough and if your close enough. Kind of like getting the maximum effect out of Luigi's ^B move. As for the "hyper speed playstyle", Falco is indeed the most self-destruct prone character of my 6, lol. Typically due to overshooting an edge here and there.
For example there are still sweat shops in New York City
That's really not as abundant as you think it is, trust me. In any case, in response to the initial post...it is true that the negatives aren't the only thing we should focus on. There's a lot of great things that people as individuals can be capable of, it's people as a group that tend to get on my nerves. Ultimatley, humanity is far from lordable now, and has always been. It's unfortunate to think in such a way where we have to try harder to find our virtues then our faults, but far too much has happened for us to completely ignore that humans are quite the ****** breed. It makes finding happiness and something to live for all the more special though when you can manage to find something in the midst of all that has been going on in the world. People always have choices though, something leads to another and it's our responsibility to have the foresight to tell how things will turn out in the long run when it concerns the path of our own lives. There are a lot of variables and events out of our control, of course...but 8 times out of 10, if people want to point fingers at the potential source for their misery, all they need to do is look in the mirror. There's a lot of killing, racism, just tons of things in this world that will remain constant as much as we'd like to believe that it will not. All of it is by consequence of a poor choice somewhere down the line though, so as much as people may be willing to help, it seems they are just as caught up in providing the need for help.
Ok. I have come to enlighten everyone here about ssbm. I only read the first few pages..but from what I can tell almost no one here knows anything about the game. I see an outdated tier list, horrible information and general newbie mentalitys. Let me start off. SSBM is the most played fighting game tournaments wise. There are more tournaments for this game across the world then any other fighting game including street fighter tekken MvC2 and other competative fighting games. SSBM has one of the most intricate and uniqe physics engines and it has extreme depth to the gameplay. I myself am a very good player. I go to tournaments frequently and my skill level is that of a semi-pro. Those who compare skill level with computers..are usually laughed at. Computers are so easily manipulated that they show nothing of skill what-so-ever. I can play 3 lvl 9 computers with a handicap of one and theirs being 9 on a team vs me and win with 1 life vs their 4. Without getting hit. Or hitting them even. It is called AI abuse. Here is the current tier list. this is from my memory so I am going to get a few places wrong but the first 16 or so are 100% correct. Top tier 1.Fox 2.Falco High tier 3.Shiek 4.Marth 5.Peach 6.Ice Climbers Middle tier 7.Captain Falcon 8.Samus 9.Doctor Mario 10.Jigglypuff 11.Ganondorf 12.Mario Low Tier 13.Link 14.Luigi 15.Roy 16.Young Link 17.Zelda 18.Donkey Kong 19.Pikachu 20.Yoshi 21.Ness 22.Game & Watch 23.Bowser 24.Kirby Bottom Tier 25.Pichu 26.Mewtwo That is about right. Low tier may be a little mixed around but oh well. I main Samus and Fox...I actually have one of the best Samus's in Texas. And I pretty much know everything about this game. Here are some helpful sites for information: www.smashboards.com www.gamefaqs.com Mainly smashboards. I wanted to make my own topic with all of this information but w/e lol. If you disagree with any of my information or have questions about anything just ask.
My aren't we confident, for lack of a better word. As for your tiers, I can identify about 3 or 4 of your "lower tier" picks (as well as one member of your "bottom tier" picks) that I could knock you around with ;P. All in good fun my friend, all in good fun. But how good these characters are is essentially dependent completely on who plays them. As for tournament play, i've been in 4, and i've won first place in 3 (I lost my very first tournament rather badly, I didn't rank in the top 5). The place it was at holds a bunch of different kinds of tournaments in New York city, mostly fighting games and sports games (those I don't touch, despite the Madden first place prizes being huge). SSBM tournaments particularly are a lot of fun to be at. Lots of screaming at each other and memorable funny moments despite who wins and who loses. My primary character often changes, but it's a usual rotation between Roy, Jigglypuff, and Falco. Secondary characters include Bowser, Pichu, and Samus. Zelda actually used to be my favorite character to use, as of late I've fell out of using her and have pretty much been using those six characters only. This is one of 3 games i still keep the gamecube around for though, still fun and will probably still be playing it when Brawl comes out, as I do not yet have a Wii.
I wouldn't put people into intelligence groups, lol. I tend to think Forgotten Hero and BKstyles are pretty good contributors all-round. I don't know why some people get the impression that they're always at the bottom of the ladder, lol.
*eyebrow twitches* I would hope "some" refers to a vast minority, since this is news to me, lol. I'd hate to think that more then a handful of people have terribly terribly misconceived notions.

The evisceration of your name
TheResplendent replied to TheResplendent's topic in General Discussion
Yes, it has been awhile, sakurasuka. You all have such wonderful names. =] Anyway, since my name comes from the Filipino and Hawaiian language, most people in the US and here in the UK have a ultimately hard time pronouncing my whole name... and it's not even that difficult, really. My first name is Tiana, which is the Filipino part. You can imagine how many other different names people come up for me. Yo. What's your name? Tiana. Oh, okay. Hey, Ta-Tiana. Umm, no. There's no Ta before Tiana... just... Tiana. What? Taina, then? No. The I is before the A. Ti. A. Na. Uh... Tania? No! Tiana! TEE- AH- NA!! T-I-A-N-A!! TIANA!!! You can imagine how annoying it is to have your English teacher pronounce your name wrong everyday, even with me AND my English class reminding her. She still hasn't gotten it yet. -_- My middle name is the hardest for anyone to pronounce because it's Hawaiian. My middle name is Kawailehua, which means, "The radiant flower in the rain" or something like that. The W is pronounced like a V in the Hawaiian language, so it's more like Kavai. When I was young, I learned how to spell my name by thinking of Kawaii, so... yup. A normal conversation with my friends about my middle name. Hey, Tiana. What's your middle name again? Ahahaha, it's K- Wait! I remember it, just let me try to say it. Lol, okay. It's Ka...Kalehua. Nope. Keleiha? Nah. Kawelhu? Not even close. Fine then! What the crap is it?! Kawailehua. K-a-w-a-i-l-e-h-u-a. The W is pronounced like a V, remember? I knew that. Then, my first last name is Talbert, which is my mom's side of the family's name. It's special to me, so my parents let me keep it. No one usually gets it wrong, unless they say Tallbert or something really unique. And finally, my last last name (lol) is Lovett, which is my step dad's side of the family. He adopted me and my sister, so we got his last name. I really love it because, well... it's Lovett! A lot of people like to make fun of me and saying that I Loveit! or something. Well... my whole name is: Tiana Kawailehua Talbert Lovett. I love it because it's so unique and has different languages in each name. That name's going on my High School Diploma when I graduate soon... I can imagine it taking up all the free space and our announcer pronouncing it wrong, lol.
I think your middle name wins the award for most understandable name mess up thus far. Think i'd just call you TK. =) -
So now we're grouping people into hierarchies of intelligence? No want.
Lol, especially if the categorization isn't completely accurate to begin with. I appreciate Deathknight thinking he knows me well enough to place my name so confidently on a tier of intellegence, but the fact of the matter intellegence isn't always measured by the amount of words someone can spit out on a keyboard or how many people who don't know better themselves you can impress with only linguistics. Also while vocabulary is a nice thing to have, knowing when and how to use it is the key to being intellegent, not spitting out some words you saw in a dictionary because they seemed impressive. Sounding smart isn't the same as being smart, there's much to be considered when judging if someone is truly intellegent or not. In reference to our little unofficial hierarchy, I don't know if you know the others on the list you mentioned or not, you probably do for the most part, but you certainly do not know me. You certainly have not been paying attention either if you want to grant yourself the title of right-to-judge. If it's your opinion than so be it, everyone is entitled to one even if it is trying to be passed off as general community-wide consensus from a single viewpoint. No disrespect DK, because you probably didn't meant any to me. Just expressing that it's rather bothersome to walk into a thread and see someone misjudging you because of a lack of comprehension toward who you really are. Addressing the topic while I'm here, since this is the true purpose of the thread: Havn't really noticed any "fads" in reference to the intended meaning of the word here, but what was formerly known as the arena (now a part of Creative Works along with other sections) has been pretty lively lately after a long period of relative inactivity. Been RPing with a good majority of the same people who have been RPing since i've joined along with some noteworthy newcomers. Tis quite fun indeed.

The evisceration of your name
TheResplendent replied to TheResplendent's topic in General Discussion
Then when South Park got really popular, snap, life sucked for a couple of years.
Friend of mine had that problem as well since his name is Kenny (and still has because we refuse to let it die since he hates it). Another friend of mine has it worse though with "Kyle". We like acting like cartman to him and it annoys the hell out of him. Not nearly as bad as the George Carlin bit on names though, when he mentioned Kyle as being a soft boy's name :P. Those who know the act will know what i'm talking about, hehe. -
I've known countless people and have countless friends currently who just have easy-to-screw up names for those who have nothing but a list to go by when needing to say your name, or nothing but word of mouth to go by to spell your name (the geniuses that prefer to believe they know how to spell everything rather then ask). This includes attendence lists for school, job applications, surveys, etc etc. I do not believe my name falls into such a category...it's simply Matt, and in it's extended form Matthew. Neither of which however i think are difficult to pronounce OR spell. However in a recent response to job application with the CUNY system here in New York, it seems someone misread my name and decided to write "Dear Mutt" rather than Matt. I corrected this through reponse and then received a call days later, the woman asking if she was speaking with "Mutt"...so either they truly like Mutt better or my name is just that difficult for some people deal with. Makes me wonder if CUNY is slipping a bit in their standards for hiring, luckily one person doesn't count as an ample representation of a city-wide company. But in any case, while my example just seems plain silly...feel free to share either your or a friend's silly or understandable name eviscerations in your past. Either pronounced terribly wrong or spelled terribly wrong.

Cody looked at his watch and had only then noticed how much time has passed since he, Zeke, and Anna had met up. Classes were just about over for the day, students were out and about walking across the the grass and sidewalks between the dormitories and main building. Cody had told a funny bunch of stories, Anna and Zeke chimed in a couple of times with ones of their own that one of Cody's stories reminded them of. "Alright, bout time to be getting back to my room. Maybe tomorrow we'll all go to class." Zeke said, causing some giggling from the three students. Zeke and Cody jumped off of the roof where they were seated and threw their bags onto their backs. Anna stood up and went to fix her jeans, when her foot suddenly gave way from hanging halfway off the roof. "A..ahh!" she screamed briefly as she fell forward off the roof. Cody acted quickly and ran himself underneath her, letting Anna fall into his arms in a carrying fashion, Cody almost falling back himself. Anna turned her eyes over to Cody's not realizing yet that she was being held by him until she waved her legs around. "Oh, eh heh! Thanks Cody...guess I wasn't watching my step." she said, a little red in the cheeks but trying to hide it by turning her face away. "Not a problem, as if I'd let you fall." Cody said with a smile, as he placed her down gently onto her feet. "Alright Mr. Hero, pack up the slick act and let's get going." Zeke said, making sure Cody's ego didn't begin to inflate. Anna's smile didn't make that easy however. The three began walking back, but didn't make it far when Anna stopped short in her tracks and leaned up against the wall opposite the hedge maze. She pressed her finger up against the back of her ear and poked her head up a little further. "Hey guys! Wait a minute..." she said, thrusting out her arm trying to get Cody and Zeke to stop. "Hm? What's up?" Cody asked, him and Zeke looking at each other and shrugging. "...there are some students...they're talking about Principal Moebius..." she mentioned, still listening in. "What about him?" Zeke asked, placing his hand on his hip. Anna kept listening until she could give a proper answer, which seemed to come in the form of Anna gasping and clutching her bag strap a little tighter. "He's gone missing! I heard a girl named Alexandra say it to a girl named Kathy." she said after overhearing their names said to one another. She walked quickly toward her two friends who met her with confused yet wondering expressions. "Alexandra...Woods?" Cody asked curiously. "I don't know..." Anna responded, shaking her head. "Oh, you mean the girl from chemistry. Yeah she does hang out with Kathy Mercer, it probably is them." Zeke mentioned, realizing who Cody meant after he had mentioned her full name. "Well then, let's go find em! Anna, which way?" Cody asked as they turned the corner to see the front yard outside the main building in it's entirety. Zeke eyed Cody a bit strangely, raising his eyebrow and clearing his throat. He recognized that tone of voice and ventured a guess on what it was probably in reference to. "I thought you said you liked that girl, Bethany?" he asked in a rather inquisitive tone of voice. Anna began listening in a little more intently now that the subject of girls came up between the two, as it did every now and then. "Hm? Well...yeah, but I mean she IS a bit young. Besides, Alex has that playful attitude that I like. I catch her staring over at me a lot in chem class too, I think she may like me." Cody explained, folding his arms in a cool manner. "Sure it's not because you sit right in FRONT of the board Professor Winter writes on!?" Anna chimed in rather forcefully, clearly not impressed much by the way Cody talked about Alexandra. Cody placed his hand on the back of his head and just laughed subtly, not wanting to get himself into any more trouble. Zeke just giggled to himself finding the exchange rather amusing. "Hey come on...but seriously, if something happened to Mobeius, we should probably know about the situation. So which way?" Cody said, assuring his friends of his primary motives. Anna glanced around and pointed in a direction in which the three of them ran toward. They rounded the giant fountain over to the west side of the field where the side entrance to the main building was. It was mainly used when students wanted to get to the second floor quicker since the stairs outside let straight up. A few more seconds and the backs of the students talking about the principal's dissapearence. Cody yelled out catching their attention, Alexandra and Sergei turned around and waved recognizing Cody, Zeke, and Anna. "Hm, speak of the devils." Alex exclaimed, glancing over out of the corner of her eyes over at Bethany. "Oh stop it!" Bethany answered, crossing her arms and looking away while her friends got a bit of a laugh from her expression. Cody walked over to Alexandra and gave a little two finger salute, while Anna walked beside him and bowed her head slightly in a sign of greeting. "So what's up guys?" Sergei asked. "Well, Anna hear overheard you guys talking about a rather interesting topic." Zeke mentioned, standing beside Anna from the other side. "Zeke!" Anna said suddenly, a bit embarrased that he had revealed that she eavesdropped on them so quickly. "I see, should have figured it out. Well, there was an announcement during class..." Sergei began to explain.

Posting my views on it, not in reference specifically to anything anyone has said (since i have not read every post thoroughly yet). It boggles me honestly as to how people can question why people can either have a crush on an anime character or find one attractive. When characters are created, they are given mannerisms, personalities, physical anatomy, basically everything a real person possesses. When you like someone in real life, you are ideally drawn more so to their personality and attitudes, and of course in addition to how attractive they are. It's essentially the same thing, the only difference being the potential of being with an anime character is zero where as the potential to be with someone in real life whom you like for the same aspects are significantly higher, though not garaunteed obviously. As a writer myself, I give my characters an incredible amount of depth and make sure they can appeal just as easily as real people can. Putting myself in a position where I could have the opportunity to bring those characters to life in the form of something that does not involve real life actors, I would find it highly understandable that my viewers would form some kind of connection with my characters because they have everything a real life person does minus only tangible form in the real world as we know it. If you are capable of being infatuated, liking, or even loving someone for their personality and emotional appeal then you can very easily find yourself "crushing" on an anime character. If you like a girl who cooks and dances, then it's highly likely you'll like an anime girl who cooks and dances. If you like a guy with long hair and works out, then chances are you'll like an anime guy with long hair and works out. It's the trait that is being viewed as attractive, which is extremely reasonable. Putting into logical perspective, it explains why I find it strange that people still wonder how it's possible. You may have preferences and it may be to completely disregard anime characters completely, but to think it's impossible to create a connection of some sort with the characters of someone's favorite story or anime is quite unreasonable. Obviously real girls (and guys, for those of you out there who like that sort of thing :P) have a more realistic appeal, and I myself prefer them for the most part. But I do live in an area where personality wise, i've seen more girls in anime who appeal to me in that category then real girls. Anyone else who lives in NYC would understand :p. But seriously, it isn't like we have a choice between the two since we can only be with a real person, but liking an anime characters is hardly dissimilar from liking a character from a book, or a movie. In the case of the movie, sure the people are real...but are your chances of being with Angelina Jolie or Ben Affleck any better then your chances with an anime character? Odds are, it won't happen. In reference to anyone wondering how someone could find an anime character attractive, the explanation for that is simple. In real life it's extremely unlikely to find a perfect looking girl because we as humans are nothing of the sort. The mind and the imagination however is fully capable of creating an idea of perfection from a particular point of view. The mind conveys this idea to the hands given the right talent and the character finds physical form by way of a drawing and then it is brought to life. So in other words, a drawing can easily depict someone's ideal vision of an extremely attractive person because it's the person who is creating him/her, where as in real life we choose from what we see, completely out of our control as it pertains to the group selection. I personally have quite a liking for a few myself (not neccesarily all because of attraction, but liking them as a characters or because they have features that I like in females) and it doesn't change my ability to be attracted to and like real life girls, so therefore it isn't doing any harm to my judgement or preferences. I know many girls in real life, been with quite a few, will continue to be, am turned on much more by real girls, and I like it that way. Though it may be specifically a writer thing to be able to form connections with non-existing characters. Even if it is, I still find it to be a very logical viewpoint.
Yo-Yos These were all the rage in the late 90s, if my memory serves correctly. During recess, I remember having "sleeping contests" to see who could keep their yo-yo down and spinning for the longest amount of time (but you had to be able to pull it back up). Eventually, they started coming out with those yo-yos with the 'brains' in them or whatever which were supposed to add to its versatility. But really, all the cool kids had a fireball.
Ha ha, I was actually going to post about the yo-yo craze with yomega and what not. The ones with the "brain" inside them and the butterflies, the firestorms, etc etc. That was super big when I was in junior high school. It was a trend that was strong but did die down pretty fast. I admit to having 2 or 3 myself :). Lot of cartoons have already been mentioned, lot of my favorites too so I won't reiterate. In addition to them though, I did have one that stood out as a more obscure title, as well as one that could have used more episodes: PoDW focused on Ren, a young man with a prestigious lineage unbeknownst to himself who is caught up in the quest for the 13 treasures. It's your classic pirate type of adventure show taking place in a fictional world with creatures, pirates, and of course the deadly dark water that plagues the seas. I don't want to reveal too much about it because for anyone that hasn't seen it during it's original run, it's still a great show to watch now. To my knowledge there were only 21 episodes, but so much more could have been done...for the show to not have continued on with more episodes was indeed a crime :(.
Sorry, BKStyles, but you misunderstood my post. Woodpecker and Detective Allen shot each other[/I'], there was no third party present.
Yeah I did misunderstand, lol. I'll change it. I was actually thinking as after I posted if "the *****" was referring to the detective. Tis now confirmed. I guess I was anxious for an excuse to order my men around too, heh. Edit - Well the two drugs are from the same pusher, hence why Sai assumed automatically that it was the one he brought up. So when the name came up, that was what came up in his mind first. I had actually wanted Kwan to later on betray Sai and showcase the effects of the Dragon's Tongue himself in the fight club. In which i have a scene in mind involving a fight between the two. So the scene was to show that Sai was unaware of the drug itself (since the original plan was for it to surprise him once it became more abundant amongst the fighters) The fact that Kwan told Snowcat can be a basis for a future kind of "You F**ked up Kwan, you should learn how to keep your mouth shut" etc etc, kind of deal. I notice there's been a lot of story and plot telling before the actual write-ups of the scenes though the UG thread and what not, so i should get with the picture, heh. I'm used to wanting to save things for until they happen.

Sai met with Luyii earlier in the day, she was going over the gift arrangements for her father, Boss Fai. They intended to go to the fight club but Sai never expected the visit he had gotten. An old friend though from different brotherhoods. The whole trip Sai found it hard to keep his eyes off of the radiant daughter of the Tiger General. He knew he had quite a catch, especially when every member of the brotherhood would stare as she walked by, but Sai knew that he could do so much more than stare. There was of course the issue of the immense power he was sure to gain in the ranks of the brotherhood, but he wasn't lying when he said the power wasn't the only basis for his interest in Luyii. Sai met with his assistant, Kwan moments after entering the fight club. Kwan bowed his head to Willow Fairy in respect and proceeded to hand the War Dragon his paperwork on the tournament brackets as they stand currently. It was only a few minutes after Kwan left the office that Sai was informed of his visitor. Arm in arm the boss of the fight ring went to visit his old friend and meet him with respect. "Well well, if it isn't Mr. Wu", said Sai Yuan, the War Dragon. "It's been a long time." Sai nodded his head, a legit feeling of joy being extended to Snowcat. Sai might now have seen eye to eye with many members of the Brotherhood of the Jade Forest, but he judged who his friends and foes were chiefly based on their individual selves rather then their affiliations. Not to say that was the case in every single situation, but Sai wouldn't lie about it either. "What brings you here?" Mr. Kwan smiled maliciously. Snowcat felt like he could blush with shame. The intense stare of the Willow Fairy only made it worse still. "Just running errands for the Boss", Snowcat replied simply. "I was about to-" Out of a sudden they heard gunshots from the outside. Damn it! Snowcat cursed in his mind. He knew all too well what the shots meant. Fucking Woodpecker! He ran to the backdoor, with Mr. Kwan and the other goon hot on his heels. Outside, he saw what he had feared: Woodpecker and Detective Allen lying on the ground, both holding guns. Snowcat ran to the rookie gangster and kneeled down. "Woodpecker! Kang! Answer me!" Snowcat shouted, shaking the youngster. "Snowcat.... The bitch... shot me. I shot back", Woodpecker whispered, with a twisted smile on his face. Sai told Luyii to stand back by the door as he walked out toward the alleyway. He looked down at Snowcat's fallen affiliate for a second and shook his head. It seems something had been going, though he wasn't sure of the details exactly. Snowcat surveyed the wounds quickly. "It doesn't look bad", he lied. "You'll be alright once we get you to the hospital." Then he turned his eyes on the detective. She had fallen against a trashcan, so she was half sitting. She had a bullet hole in the middle of the forehead. A single trail of blood streamed across her face. Blood. There was the image again. Mother... By the time Snowcat had snapped out of it, he looked up at Sai who's hand was on his shoulder, apparently speaking his name for an unknown time out of quite a few. "Ten! Hey! You hear me?" Sai's voice spoke again. "Yes, forgive me Sai..." he answered, clearing his throat afterwards. "Come inside for now, we can speak in a more comfortable atmosphere." Sai told him, extending his arm toward the door offering Snowcat the comfort of his office. "What do you think happened?" Luyii asked as Sai passed by her. He turned back and extended his hand to her, she took it as he pulled her close. "Not sure honestly, but I don't think it was an accident. These bodies should be cleaned up though." he answered, following his guest in, his guards closing the door behind him prepared to take care of the bodies. They sat in his office, Snowcat across from Sai and Luyii. Sai offered a cup of tea over to Snowcat, who took with gratitude. "Much has changed since year ago, havn't they?" Snowcat inquired, seemingly alluding to something specific. "Ha, have you always thought of me as so much of a cruel person?" Sai asked in a non-serious tone. Snowcat took a sip and merely smiled back. "It's how cruel you can be that I do know, but there is indeed more to the War Dragon then that." All three of them laughed, as the conversation topic quickly changed to the drug issue brought up to Kwan upon Snowcat's arrival. "You're talking about the brown dust, right? As Kwan probably told you, we've been aware for a while...it doesn't do much since I've seen people on it lose their share of fights. Certainly hasn't helped anyone's chances against me." Sai spoke, spawning a grin on his face from his latter words. "Dust? I'm afraid we're speaking of two different things my friend. The one I'm speaking of is a new kind of injection, at least in it's most common form. It's a much more potent enhancer then the ones we are used to hearing about. The Brotherhood of Infinite Longevity is most definitly to blame for it's circulation." Snowcat explained, putting an unsure look on Sai's face. "I'm afraid I've yet to encounter it, at least to my knowledge. If it's that potent however, it would cause quite a problem." Sai admitted. "I have not heard of any cases myself, but the name you called it rings a bell." Luyii spoke, chiming in on the conversation. "Yes, Dragon's Tongue. The full effects are not yet known, but it would more than likely turn your average fighter into something a little more obscene." Snowcat exclaimed, taking another sip of his tea. "This ring is very strictly under my watch, the first run in I have with this drug I will handle with the utmost care. There are more immediete matters however, such as the meeting that is yet to come." Sai said, confident in his abilities. * * * * * OOC: Don't believe they are supposed to, but rather than make you edit it I just threw in the part where Sai misunderstood which drug Snowcat was talking about.
So, I finally got my copy of the game. (FINALLY) I had to sell the majority of my games (and a few animes) to get it too. Only thing though is that I'm missing the bonus disc. (which brought the price down to $50, so it was either a take it, or leave it deal.) What's on that disc by the way? In any case, I've only played like a good 10-20 minutes of it. From what I've played it is interesting to say the least. That auto function is a nice thing for it especially if I ever get to lazy for some things, but I probably won't rely on it too heavily. I haven't had the chance to fuse any demons yet. I'm going to start over though because I was just toying around with things, and I probably missed something already. I did have a chance to get a Fairy, Shikigami, and a Kodoma (sp?) to join my side though, and I did get pass the 1st boss. So it is a fairly decent game so far. Graphically speaking, I'm still getting use to this whole cell shaded graphics in a RPG. I mean I was just playing FF8 yesterday, and in comparison, they don't really stack up too well, but like I said, it's just a matter of adapting. Music. Meh, I'm not much of a fan of it, but like DMC3, it seems to fit, so I can brush that aside. I look forward to seeing how this game will turn out.
The music will grow on you, when you get further into it the different types of boss musics get really cool and some of the city musics. Least that how it worked with me, Meguro is no Uematsu but still pretty good. At this point, your variety of demons won't be too extensive so take what you can get. Later on, the real fun part will be which demons you choose to recruit. Gotta admit though i grew pretty attached to my
first fairy, i kept her long enough until her transformation.

Its like how when you go to a buffet, you try a little of everything. [/COLOR']
Girls and Food are all I need for a good time, lol. The girl aspect of my proms were definitly miles ahead of the food one however. Suppose I don't have a huge problem with that, :p
No worries Ezekiel I know you were going from a team spirit point of view. To be honest all of you kind of intimidate me with how good you are at doing RPG's. I enjoy it but English and grammar has never been my strong point and I can clearly see the difference between what you guys write and what I do. >_< I have good reading comprehension skills, it's a pity it doesn't easily move over into my writing ability!
I don't know bout that, I rather enjoyed your posts back during Labyrinth. That was really the only example I had of your RPing before since I don't really follow along with Silver One (ducks and hides), :p.

Name: Cody Kendrick Age: 17 (Junior) Appearence: 5'9, light and feathery dirty blond hair ending above his ears. An average build with some muscular physique, ice blue eyes and is always wearing his beige leather jacket over a white t-shirt. Power: Cody has the ability to dematerialize solid matter with many common mineral and metallic make ups. Through touch, Cody can break down objects such as desks, walls, cars, etc and the effect of which makes it appear as if it turns into sand. After the item's break down, Cody can recompose the remnants into another object using only the same make up of the former item. Which means if he breaks down a sheet of metal, he can recompose them into tiny spears made from the same metal. The size and type of item is limited by the size and type of item that has been dematerialized. Personality: An admired student on campus for his athletic skill and cool demeanor, he can be boastful at times but ultimatley keeps a level head on himself, even in sticky situations. He isn't perfect in the academic department, getting mostly high Cs and Bs with the occaisional A here and there, though most of the time it's due to a pre-occupation of some sort. * * * * * Cody leaned up against the surrounding gate of the school grounds, he lingered around the field area as usual enjoying the breeze through his hair and watching some other students in their gym classes run around and play soccer or simply job around the track. Cody liked admiring the good looking girls in their gym uniforms, though unlike the atmosphere in any normal school...the degree to which Cody did not know these girls was on a different level. Many of the students of Cheshire High were not fully or expertly aware of their own unique abilities let alone them being public knowledge to their peers. Some were more obvious then others, but there was quite a number of students who actually didn't know themselves let alone what their powers were quite yet. Needless to say, it was a school for those who needed the comfort and support for who they were...it was more like a home because everyone felt equally welcome...no matter who they were. Cody let out a sigh and pushed himself off the fence, as the gaze of a certain pretty headhead girl caught his eye while she ran by. Cody stood a bit confused at first but she giggled a bit as she ran passed him. Her eyes were a radiant red color, definitly abnormal for a human being...but that was the beauty of this community. Yes, that's exactly what it was...a community. They may not be able to fully figure everything out about themselves yet, but atleast they don't have to be alone in doing so. Cody began walking off the field area until he heard his name casually called by another student leaning on the wall of the school. He glanced over to see Zeke giving him a single directioned wave/salute mixture while he gave a bit of a smirk. "Zeke, hows it going bro?" Cody asked, stopping infront of him. "I didn't know today was your day off." Zeke replied. Cody subtly laughed to himself for about half a second and turned his head away. "It isn't...there's just too much on my mind right now to go to class. Professor Van will understand...it isn't like I don't do my assignments." Cody said, using that as his rationalization. "You checking out the girls on the track?" Zeke asked, though it might as well have been rhetoric. Cody didn't answer with words, nor did he with body language, silence was the clear indicator and it was all that was ever usually needed in a situation like that. "No big deal really...none of them are THAT good looking. It just goes along with what's been going on in my mind I guess." Cody replied. He and Zeke began walking off at the same time, headed for the cafeteria to get some good since they were both shrugging off classes for the day. "You know who is kind of cute though..." Cody began. Zeke, glanced over slightly curious that Cody was actually about to pinpoint someone specific he fancied. "That Bethany chick, I see her around all the time and we have a couple of classes together. She's different from all the other girls I see around here." he continued. Zeke just smiled and nodded as they continued discussing such things, switching subjects every so often. * * * * * OOC: Hope ya dun mind Aarayana :P.
But one thing is crucial if you ever become a Prom Crasher: know how to dance! I fancy myself a good dancer, especially when I was voted best dancer at my own school's senior prom. But it will definitely make the night more enjoyable if you can get out on the floor and bust a move without being self-conscious.
Dancing with yourself is part of knowing how to party ;P. Having a pretty girl rub on on ya is always nice, don't get me wrong, but ya can't limit fun to just one kind of brand. Hehe.
-
So you finally got the whole prom situation figured out eh? You'll have to tell me all about it sometime soon, KW. :) Let's see...when i was in high school I went to the senior prom while I was a junior and of course my own senior prom. I rather enjoyed them both, as i was with good friends both times and despite the food being less than stellar, the afterparty and events were awesome. Both proms were held in the Marriot here in NYC, they made a really big deal out of em, from the decorations to the music. My junior year I went with a friend who asked me to go with her, so I was in a limo with pretty much all my friends from a year above me, minus one or two people i might not have known. The prom itself was pretty fun, lots of dancing, sucky food as I said but eh, we ended up eating afterwards anyway. There was a cruise around the city afterwards and we ended up going to a diner at around 6AM for late late dinner or early early breakfast. My senior year I went with a girl I liked at the time (we are best friends currently) and that was fun as well because I was with all my friends from my year and my beautiful date ;P. Food was a little better this time around, we went to a comedy club afterwards, some bowling, and the same diner at around the same time as the previous year, lol. Things that happened next might not be appropriate to discuss here, but overall both of them were great, got lots of funny and memorable pictures, and both times the damn limo driver refused his tip. I mean hell, would YOU turn down a $300 tip? Oh well, guess it had to go into my pocket >.> So yeah, i hear a lot from people about how prom was miserable for them or that they didn't even go. To each his own, but I'm quite glad that I was able to enjoy mine since I did go.
