SMT: Nocturne was the first game of the series I played. I havn't even heard of the series until i played that game, and since then I have procured the Persona games, and both DDS games. The series is awesome, as I said in a previous thread about these games though; Nocturne is my favorite just because the whole idea of persuading and fusing demons to join your team was a really cool concept to me. I couldn't wait to see what new demons I could make everytime I walked into the Cathedral of Shadows. The DDS games are fun as well, almost as challenging as Nocturne was. It started off with a really good concept but kind of followed through a little lazily on it. There's much more that could have been done with the warring gangs and factions angle. I say the previous Personas and Nocturne should definitly be the top of your list to try and get a hold of, Phenom. Most of the games in the series are very challenging, not to an extreme point (although i will admit there were 2 boss fights in Nocturne that made me want to break my controller over my head, eat the parts and ask for seconds). But the wonderful thing about that is, a seemingly simple battle system really requires more strategy then you would think at first. The games have quite a lot of intricacies to offer ;P. There are definitly ways around the high prices because of the game's rarity (concerning a couple of them), like how RaR already said you can get a few good prices on ebay, and even amazon has had some good prices every now and then. I used to follow the sales until I got them all. I read up all about Persona 3 a while ago, seen the videos, etc. That along with Dawn of Mana will definitly be on my "to get" list for my PS2. Certain themes may call for more of a character overhaul then just attributes and abilities and such. Names may need to be changed if the theme is drastically different, such as if we were to RP as robots (just an example >.>) and we were switching from a theme such as High Fantasy. All of the character info will be posted here and kept track of so I don't think it would be a real problem. We could definitly fit in the changing atmospheres around same characters deal for certain themes, and even connect them in subtle ways to kind of chain together things (like how Mary said with KH). Anyway, for this particular challenge...Sandy brought up as an example of what i was was pretty much thinking of which was going the way of LotR. So I was thinking in addition to there being certain positions in the group, we could vary by race and class as well. Some kind of mix of human, dwarf, elf, halfing, etc etc. Something of that nature. I myself was thinking of creating an elven ranger type character. Lemme know what you guys think of the theme before we start creating characters. Give any other suggestions you are interested in as well.
I used your avatars last week Keyblade :) Changed it recently. (Wednesday) Both sets of banners look prettiful. I'll use them if you don't mind. The Ulquiorra banner looks familiar, but oh well.
Tis because it was the banner I was using before I changed it to the current one, lol. It's cool though, didn't have my name on it or anything.

I have to admit I thought we were going to walk away with the W there too. Especially after seeing the other songs. Oh well though, as I've said to Mary and Beth already...droppin dead weight is just as essential at this point so voting off a member won't be a total loss. It is too bad though, as I know this particular person is a capable one, just seemingly an apathetic one as well. Chins up team, next challenge we return to our winning ways. Cause 'thats how we roll. * * * * * Well, with the new challenge up I think it's safe to say that we have the advantage big time here. Our entire team is comprised of established role players. The adaptability and creativity part of this challenge should be rather simple for us, as will any character creation process for the changing themes. Everyone here has been quite active since even before I came over to the team, so the participation rate isn't a huge concern, but I don't know what Sandy's idea of posting actively is. There are going to be some slow spikes due to real life responsibilities for all 4 teams without a doubt. Again though, for the most part it shouldn't be a hugep problem. The prize is quite interesting as well, if we win we pretty much get to kick someone from the entire game out, toss someone else onto our team and put the remaining 6 onto another. That is if i've understood the prize correctly. The first theme has been announced, so let's start to think of some suitable character creations we can put into the story. We can think of how our characters should know each other, and how to take advantage of the theme's atmosphere.
-
I might have missed it or might even be misunderstanding, but the winning team choosing the 12 players to move on within 2 teams, does that mean we would essentially be rearranging the players into 2 teams of our choosing regardless of existing teams?

Hm, ankle socks seem to be quite popular so far. While I admit i love ankle socks on a girl, I prefer normal tube socks for myself. Never found them to be uncomfortable and guess i'm just used to em. Of the articles of clothing I wear, i am probably least picky about my socks. Though I will probably never wear those individual toe socks, lol. Oh, and being required to dress up in formal attire a lot back in high school...I can firmly say that I've had my share of black dress socks for a lifetime. Though I doubt i've seen the last of them either.
That's sexy... But your right, by all mens. I've seen the prices. Zen my ***! Holy crappola! Plus why spend a big hunk of your time drawing amanga when you might suck at it. No offence to anybody here, but sometimes it's a bland and already used story. (Hell I think the Japanese are actually running out of ideas.) plus those characters try to hold their masculinity, no matter how hot it gets. (Crap, somethings wrong with me tonight!!)
From the perspective of a writer, I can tell you that when translating a story idea of any type whether it be a manga or a novel or even a roleplay, while trying to do your own version of revolutionizing a genre is an accomplishment, it is equally as important to make sure you can convey an exceptional portrayal of any concept that interests you or your readers/viewers. It isn't always about how you can change a genre or offer something completely original, because the thing about "original" is that it's difficult to pull out something that can be considered the definition of original when all the years we have been living here on earth, most everything in some shape or form, whether in great abundance or in small bits and pieces has already been done. A lot of the times, a really good story just simply needs a fantastic telling of a concept, regardless of whether it's original or time tested. Someone's version of a concept that has been done can shine brightly amongst the large group of that particular genre if the story, characters, progression, etc are just right. Take vampire movies for instance. I've seen a million of them but Interview with the Vampire stands out to me in so many ways as an incredible movie because of how it tells the story and what is involved in the story. Not an original concept what so ever, but stands out as something special within it's genre. So I wouldn't be so quick to demean people's attempts at following through with something they like just because it may not set out to redefine standards. People typically do things because they like it, even if they do suck at it. That goes for anything, not just drawing and writing. * * * * * Figure i'll throw in another one due to recent events: Subway delays >

Posting this on behalf of Disenchanted, as she is having difficulty being able to post herself due to the following problem:
Greetings, I?m having problems with the OB [and other forums in general, but I hope that if I can get the OB fixed then I can hopefully get the others fixed as well]. When I attempt to log in the redirecting screen pops up like normal but when it returns to the OB index I am still not logged in. When I view certain parts of the OB, which parts I can?t say because it?s random, OB says that I am logged in [I can do things normally]; when I go back to the index I am logged out again. I use both Fire Fox and Internet Explorer, clearing my cookies has had no effect at all whatsoever, neither has changing my security settings. I just had windows service pack 2 installed, that?s when all the trouble started, if that really has anything to do with it. Ob seems to not be updating either, for example, I know that new posts are made everyday because I have been asking friends to check but my computer does not acknowledge these updates to the board. My page does not refresh either. When I view the OB I appear to sign in and out randomly, for instance I may appear logged out but when I click on the Otaku Lounge for example I am logged in without actually going through the process. Have error reports from my computer if you wish to see them, if they can help in anyway. This whole thing is rather frustrating and any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time, -Disenchanted, -Manda

Jews believe in god, they just don't believe in Jesus being the mesiah. Like el duh. [/I']
If you read my post thoroughly you would have known that your post is one section of the whole that I was referring to as the others besides christianity that believe in god. To say only one religion has the patent on the right to believe in god is plain ignorant. I figured that would go without saying though.
You better clear that up before someone who is actually offended by that responds.

Religions throughout the ages reflected the thoughts and concepts of the time. There is no Jehovah, no Odin, no Ahura Mazda without prophets, without people, without human imagination and thought. "Bettering ourselves" is vague at best, lol. Bettering yourself doing what? Learning? Learning academics? Learning the heart and soul of civilizations throughout time? The latter is comprised of many things often the largest of which was their religion of choice. Humanity has many attributes beyond science, beyond self indulgent betterment of itself. It has a soul, it has emotion and these emotions change how people believe. What they hope for, what their God looked like, who s/he killed, who she saved. What good would it do? Proving the existence of metaphysical creatures with omnipotent powers who may or may not have sired our race through evolution? Do I have to answer the effect that would have on people? On scientific theories, on religious thought. Who says that if God exists it is the Abrahamic God? What of the Dharmic religions? Of all the forgotten Gods laying in ruins across the globe that at one time were the heroes and villains of societies? You are such an average person DigitalBoy and try very hard on these boards to be some kind of artist, some kind of theologian or philosopher when you are nothing of the sort. Do you mean to? I don't know, it's just sounds so shallow. You have a fine mind but you are not a great thinker or even a mediocre one. Your posts reek of trying too hard, of attempting too much to come off as something you aren't. Tinged with pseudo intellectualism and yet you still let off the aura of a stereotypical, angry teenager who has very much left to learn before he can sit with the adults and speak without drawing laughter. Don't reply with "that's your opinion" or "who cares". As a matter of fact, don't reply to this at all. Spare me the burden of having to read a response written by you at all. Go do all your little cliches. Go debate for amusement, go hate humanity, go discredit religions, go hate opinionated people, go hate society. Make it into a ****ing coming of age story and sell it to Hollywood for all I care. Just expect once in awhile that someone will snap at you for being such an annoying little dog. Just don't talk about time wasted.
Too late, heh.
Yes, I realize that. But I don't mind the other races and their fallacies. white people have no excuse for being so sucky most of the time >_>
Stop me if i'm misunderstanding this, but what you just said in so many words is that any race besides whites are expected to have flaws and fallacies, where as whites are expected to be the master race and showcase no flaws which is therefore WHY you are so upset at why they DO have flaws. You better clear that up before someone who is actually offended by that responds.
It's a waste of time. Focus that could have been put on bettering ourselves instead spent on believing in god. So many concepts wasted, so much time lost. What does it matter if we were created by a god? Even if we proved it, what good would it do? Christians get to say 'I told you so?' Who cares?
Again stop me if i'm not quite getting your logic here, but according to this you are making this statement under the belief that Christianity is the only religion that believes in creation by the hands of god. I won't say anything about you thinking it's a waste of time because that's your opinion and your entitled to it. But you need to get a better idea in your head about what to say about something like this, or else nobody is going to believe you have a serious standpoint on it. Also in reference to "concepts wasted" as it pertains to religion, you should probably look up a time in history known as "The Enlightenment".

Lesse...silly little things. I see some people talking about OCD already, don't know if I have any myself but i always have to have the cap/top on my drink at all times whenever i buy a bottle of soda or water or whatever. Obviously not when i'm drinking from it, but whenever i'm not. Not sure if that can be considered an OCD...more like I just don't want it to spill if it gets knocked over. I have been called weird because of it before though. Another thing, i HATE helicopters. Or not so much the helicopters as the constant looming of them in a concentrated area. They tend to fly over my house quite frequently every other day all of a sudden and it annoys the hell out of me because they are always within the area...thus the sound only dissipates a little yet never really dissapears until 10 or 20 minutes later. Things have gotten better in that department so far >.>

*Points to sig* - But for those who don't know what band I'm talking about, that would be Breaking Benjamin. One of the very few bands who don't have a single song I do not like. I have just about every song from then DLed with the exceptions of a few off of Phobia. They, I believe are the best band of this generation....period. Other noteable/favorites: -Anberlin: Honestly, dun know much about this band other then they got some pretty awesome songs. I have to say my favorite thing about them is the lyrics of their songs, especially songs like Paperthin Hymn. They really impress me. -AFI: It's been said already but i'll reiterate it because I too am a fan of the band. To be honest, i have never met another AFI fan with the same favorite song as myself, lol. Also if it weren't for my good friend Amanda (a.k.a Disenchanted :P) I wouldn't have heard most of the songs off their newest album. I'm quite enamored with Love Like Winter atm. -Nonpoint: A terrific band with a lot of energy, and a friggen awesome guitar player. They got one of the best rock songs i've ever heard in spanish too. I have a lot more favorites, but I am under the belief this thread was to pinpoint favorites of "Today". So twas what I did.
4. Humans. I can just hear everyone going 'oh hell no!' I mean really, there's not much I can say about them that hasn't been said before. NEXT.
You probably could have consolidated your list if you would have taken into consideration that this encompasses about 3 more numbers on your list.
5. Opinionated people/people with strong beliefs. Oh god. If I have to get into another arguement over something as trivial as the existence of god, I might just smack somebody. Oh, and then you can scream hypocracy of how I obviously hold my own beliefs of the lack of a holy pressence, blah blah, we could go on like this for hours. I think what should really go into this column is The Human Mind. It's a jerk.
Have you ever considered taking upon yourself to not engage in one of the aforementioned debates? You know...if your arm hurts when you move it...what should you not do? :P * * * * * As for the subject of cards, when it comes to poker what I really can't stand are the big shots who think they can win a life by playing it. Every now and then me and my friends put together a game of Texas Hold'em with a $20 per person buy in. Nothing big, just for fun and a menial amount of money to make things interesting. As long as someone isn't running their mouth like their life is riding on the game and how they are a vegas big shot wannabe, we're good.
There are, uh, three villians.
Venom, Sandman, and Harry Osborne in some kind of Goblin getup. I don't know if he's a new Green Goblin, or if he'll refer to himself as one of the others. Although I do find it unlikely he'll be the Demogoblin. ; )[/spoiler']
Nah,
Demogoblin refers to Jason Macendale's goblin character. I think Harry Osborne will just be a short lived variant of the Green Goblin's name.
But my two favorite SM villians have already taken form in the movies, DocOc being in 2 and finally
Venom being revealed for 3
. Though I am quite partial to Shocker...and Black Cat though she's more the anti-hero type.
I am geared up for PotC3, Shrek 3 and Transformers. I might see Harry Potter once it goes to the cheap theatre, but not when it first comes out. The story is going to be too butchered to waste my money on a good theatre to see it in. Ocean's 13 and the Simpsons movie look alright too. By the way, does anyone know why no one wants to tell me who the villian is in Spiderman 3? I mean, now I know, but every time I seem to ask people all I get in reply is "Oh, it's the movie where he gets his black costume." I think that was obvious enough.
Probably people who are unfamiliar with the spider-man baddies. Or the pure movie spider-man fans. The black suit is the most emphasized part of all the trailers and previews so it makes sense for it to be the easiest way to identify the movie. You said you know who they are, but the newest trailer (that can be seen in the coming attractions for 300 I believe, and even if you havn't seen it then you can search for it or DL it just as easily) finally shows the
face of Venom
. Spoiler tags there just in case someone really doesn't wanna see.

The months of May-August of 07 are indeed set to be a ravenous months for movie releases in theaters. A lot of anticipated releases, many of them being installments in already well established titles from the past, which we all know can either be really bad or pleasently surprising. Others, popular trailer picks that are anxiously being awaited for more detail. The more noteable titles include: May: -Spider Man 3 -Pirates of the Carribbean 3: At World's End -Shrek the Third June: -Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer -Oceans13 -Evan Almighty -DOA: Dead or Alive -Live Free or Die Hard July: -Transformers -Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix -The Simpsons Movie August: -The Bourne Ultimatum -Underdog -Rush Hour 3 -Halloween -The Last Legion Personally I am most excited about the releases of PotC3, Oceans13, and Spider-man 3 as I am a huge fan of Pirates 1 and 2 and Oceans11 and 12. Both titles being two my absolute favorites of all time. Also though i'm not as big of a fan of Spider-Man movie wise, I wish to see it because of my childhood love for the comic/cartoon. Which was also the reasons I saw the other 2 and almost every other comic book movie (though i did thoroughly enjoy the first 2 X-men movies and a good majority of the Batman movies). Other interesting ones to me include Live Free or Die Hard, though my hopes for it aren't as high in terms of how it can match up with it's predecessors, I love the series and will watch this one based on the fact that it is simply another Die Hard movie. Also Evan Almighty looks rather halarious, and looks to be very promising to Bruce Almighty fans and comedy fans alike. So I guess the big Q is, which ones are you looking most forward to?

Only a few things can really manage to piss me off, but some recent events have inspired me to make this little peeve of pets known: -People who ask for your advice, then either don't take it or blame you when something goes wrong when they are the ones that didn't f***ing listen in the first place. In a related context, but not exactly the same...people who alleviate their decision making responsibilities to someone else and then blame that person when something goes wrong. Narrator: On the last episode of Otakuboards Survivor 4...
After reading this debate thoroughly, I have to say it was fierce! Nice job, Beth and Darren! Both of you were great debaters, you really assaulted each others' arguments and in the end provided good resources for your claims. Now I admit that the subject was hard to defend, Darren, but I didn't quite like the fact that you constantly appealed to the judge (ie. me) to back you up instead of focusing to bringing your opponent down with your own strong arguments. A minor flaw, I admit, but it was the only one that separated the two of you. Thus, I announce the winner of this second debate to be Beth from The Titans.
Mary: Yes! The Titans gather around Beth after the announcement of victory, cheering and showing indomitable support and unity. A confident expression comes across Beth's face, as well as the other members. White adjusts himself, pointing with his thumb toward the other teams. Beth: Hehe, It was nothing. Just one more victory for The Titans! Beth thrusts her arm in the air confidently, followed by her teammates.
The two winning teams, The Mercenaries and The Titans, will both get the chance to choose one evicted player to rejoin the game. Hope you like the award, since this is the first and last time in this game that such resurrection will occur.
Matt: Alright team, this means we get another member. Let's make sure we choose wisely. Mary: I think I know who you have in mind, Matt. I totally think we should make the choice! Matt nods in acknowledgement toward his faithful teammate. Matt: What about you guys? Matt looks in Beth, White, and Mike's direction. Mike nods silently and glances away mysteriously. Beth: It's definitly a good choice, let's tell her right away. White: Hmph, it's fine with me.
Well the prize is definitly interesting, and worth winning. Mary and myself spent some time on song searching the other day, and it seems to be our best bet to go with an embedded version of the normal song w/ lyrics. I have a few I intend on playing around with before the deadline, and we should be good to go as far as everything. Everything should be posted rather soon. EDIT - Posted it up, made some changes before posting the finished product. Like the lyrics of the chous to fit the title Zeke put on the graphic. Also lemme know how you guys like the whole episode recap into current episode's opening :P. Figured we chose a TV show theme for our song, so decided to run a little further with that idea.
