"Chuunin, Genin...I want you all assembled in the stadium by this evening. Say goodbye to your families and prepare yourselves for a journey. We're going out to meet the Shadow head on." She drew a breath to continue but Gaara stepped up next to her, looking over his shoulder at Zakuro, Temari and Kankurou before nodding. "Sunagakure, my village, was destroyed by the Shadow. I have seen first hand what this 'Yamikage' is capable of, and let me warn you that it's something I'd rather not see happen to your beautiful village. With my last remaining warriors I will support you 'till the end." He nodded again, more of a bow this time, and Tsunade saw he was truly grateful. He stepped back again for his brother to rest one strong hand on his shoulder. Tsunade found she had no more words and simply sighed pathetically, resting forward against the railings again. "I'll see you all later." * * * 'A head on encounter, many of these genin and even some chuunin aren't ready for something like this. Tsunade-sama is making a gutsy decision...but whatever happens, I will protect this village and destroy the shinobi of the shadow.' Ichiro thought to himself after hearing the announcement. His eyes focused and his body almost trembled with a heightened sense of excitement. It had been so long before he had the opportunity to take part in such a dangerous event. Ichiro turned to Mitsumi who looked to be a bit in disbelief. He noticed her eyes wandering, he wondered what was going through her mind. 'Mitsumi...she's not ready for something like this. She'll get hurt for sure...but if she doesn't go it would be disobeying the Hokage's order.' he thought, as he quielty dreaded the idea of losing his closest friend. He looked around him some more and noticed Kaoru and Kuro beside him, neither of which were strangers from battle but still, he felt as if the entire situation was a bit overwhelming and sudden. Ichiro wondered how many of them would actually stand a chance, but thoughts like that would have no place once the actual battle started. He looked over at Oni, the two didn't speak but knew each other well enough from the missions they used to go on as a part of Naruto-san's cell. They nodded at one another after Kuro and Shiro made their departure, as Oni dissapeared quickly from sight. It was time for Ichiro to go as well. He looked over at Mitsumi, he walked over unsure of what he was going to say. But before he could say anything she turned to Ichiro. "Hey, I'm gonna go get ready! I'll see you at the arena, ok? Don't be late." Mitsumi said, then taking off directly after not giving Ichiro a chance to say anything to her. He sighed to himself and took off himself toward his house. He filled his pouch with kunais and surikens, and wrapped a few extra bands around his legs and arms that contained easy access weapons. He straightened his sword out on his back and took off without thinking. He had nobody to say goodbye to, and nobody was there to anticipate his arrival back home. Ichiro's parents were both dead, and his Uncle who was the original owner of the estate was away in the country of fire. He wondered if he knew of the threat of the shadow, but it was a passing thought as Ichiro knew he had to stay focused for Konoha's own battle. On the way he noticed Kaoru's house. It was on the route between his house and most everywhere else in Konoha unless he was going through the back forests. His eyes fixed on the residence for a bit, and for some reason Ichiro felt it neccesary to dart down toward the front door. "She's on the way...suppose it wouldn't hurt to pick her up and walk with her." Ichiro thought to himself. He knocked at the door, hoping she was already ready so they didn't have to waste much time. Kaoru answered the door, and looked up at Ichiro a bit surprised that he was there. "...Ichiro?" "Hey," Ichiro slightly waved as he stood up from his leaning position, "I was wondering... are you done packing yet?" "Well... yeah, I guess," Kaoru meekly replied, her index finger scratching her cheek. She didn't really expect to see Ichiro knock on her door for awhile, but... it was good timing... she really needed someone to talk to. "So... are you ready to head to the stadium or not?" "Oh, yeah! Sure!" she meekly replied, quickly running upstairs to get her things and saying good- bye to a picture of her parents before she headed out the door. After she locked it, she walked along the dusty road with Ichiro, her heart quietly thumping and her face flushed with heat. "So, um... what made you come here to walk with me to our destination?" "Hm? What do you mean?" Ichiro asked. "Uh...well. Just curious I guess." Kaoru responded, looking slightly down and away from Ichiro. "It's nothing really...I just figured you were on the way so I'd go with you." Ichiro said. Kaoru giggled a bit to herself at the answer, but her facial expression dimmed a little shortly after wondering how to deal with everything that was going through her mind at that moment. It wasn't inconceivable that everyone who were ordered to the arena still might not have grasped the severity of the situation. Ichiro felt that soon enough, everyone would know just what they were going up against. * * * * * OOC: Wanted to include a few more things, but have to run to classes. Can't wait for the fighting to start up :P.

Chapter 1 - The Empire's Threat * * * * * Clashes of steel and cries of anger and battle filled the wind with dischord as soldiers of the Empire's Legion seem to fall one after another at the hands of the Sapiens Resistance soldiers. It was perplexing, and Donovan knew something was definitly a miss. Very rarely, if ever did Garai launch attacks in such half-assed fashion. Donovan looked to Adriana who returned his glance as if with understanding toward what he was thinking. "We should return down to the field and help the other's, Donovan. Reinforcements may not be coming but the outer grounds of the base may still require attacks from the air to drive the Legion back." Adria said to her rider, Donovan nodded back in return and mounted his faithful blue dragon. They swooped down and rounded around one of the mountain's pillars and soon a couple of the other dragon riders came into view already engaged in battle. "It all seems too simple, it's as if Garai sends his troops to slaughter intentionally." Donovan said, slightly concerned with the odd nature of the situation. "Are you worried about the city itself?" Adria asked. Donovan shook his head. "No, the main gate is heavily guarded and I doubt the Empire's soldiers can breach the gate of Beliarr in this fashion." Donovan responded, as he drew his lance from the large sheath located on Adriana's left side. Donovan scanned the battlefield outside the gate of Beliarr, both forces were scattered. Soldiers of all classes within the Legion, some on horseback clashed with the ground troops of the resistance. The other dragon riders drove large masses of soldiers back from the air while arrows and minor destruction spells were fired upward in an attempt to harm them. As they got closer, Donovan noticed that the commande of the Legion himself was present at the back of the Legion's attack force. Sabian Deimos, whos mere presence on a battlefield was intimidating enough without him actually fighting. Donovan watched as he cut down with ease any soldier who managed to break through that far. Donovan felt his adrenaline speed up as he grew angry at the sight of the Legion's commander. "Don't be foolish, Donovan. We will concentrate our attack on the masses of soldiers and protect the gate. That takes priority here." Adria reminded Donovan, sensing his anger. "Worry not, I know what must be done." Donovan assured his dragon as they reached the immediete vicinity of the battlefield. Donovan placed his left hand over the right side of his chest, feeling the scar left there from his battle with the Legion commander from the last major aussult the Resistance conducted on one of the Empire's major bases on the south end of Nidorram. It was a matter that had to be settled another time, unfortunatley. * * * * * OOC - Alright, the events here in chapter 1 will follow the opening sequence of the chapter I posted in the anthology, slightly altered to fit the best interest of the RP. Members of the Sapiens Resistance, engage in the battle currently happening against the attacking Legion. Do this how you wish, whether it be on dragonback or on the ground. Exercise all the imaginative freedom you can. If you want, you may even try to engage the Legion commander, Sabian Deimos. But remember, he is extremely skilled and you would most definitly not win in a head to head battle, if you wish to do so in your post. Members of the Validus Resistance, you may post how you like for chapter 1. Spend some time with your dragon, interact with one another, train and exercise, walk around the city or forests, etc. It's a normal day for you until you are contacted at the end of Chapter 1. Again, take all the freedom you'd like here.

With the closing of the sign-ups, I shall list the accepted here. For the choices that were made between the spots that were being contested for, i made the decisions based on quite a few criterias and I have to say that a couple of them were really hard to make. So on we go: Sapiens Resistance: Donovan & Adriana - BKstyles Eden & Cinder - Kitty Persephone & Ciela - Strwpoptart Alek & Era - Eclipse Evangeline & Dryoga - Sakura Validus Resistance: Samarkan & Sadalbari - Ozymandius Jones Dionne & Meshuggener - 4815162342 Tristan & Lethe - Allamorph Lethon & Eranikus - Engel I should have the thread up in the square by tomorrow evening the latest (will probably do it when I get back from classes). -

There are several websites that provide uploading and linking for songs that I am used to using. We can use one of those since the song only needs to be up temporarily (most links are good for either an amount of days or an amount of DLs, so we can provide more then one link to the same song). As for the choice of song, i've noticed over the time i've talked with many different people from OB that what is considered popular by most standards is quite dependant on many other things, such as location and interest. Myself and Mary have talked extensivley about the subject of music before and we have each been able to name all sorts of bands and songs that neither one of us have heard of. So no matter what, when a song is proposed to put these lyrics to, it is important that every member of the team hears it first whether it be to jolt their memory, familiarize them with it, or just if they want to hear it to see how well it would fit. This way even if each member isn't familiar with the song, they will be. Though it shouldn't be more toward the obscure side, as Sandy said...it should be something that most people should know of. As for lyrics, we have many talented writers amongst our ranks. I'm not worried a bit about us putting something catchy and clever here. Once our song is chosen, we can breakdown the parts of the song, and each of us that wants to can take a part of the song and work custom lyrics into the mix. Those who would prefer not to do the lyric writing can be in charge of other parts of the challenge such as presentation work (gfx, song finding, etc). Either way, everyone in the team will be chipping in their brilliance as Sandy requested ;). Perhaps we shold compile a list of songs by popular suggestion. Let's keep in mind that all of our names must be mentioned, and that we must include some kind of theme for us. First, let's decide on a genre. I'll throw my suggestion in the hat now and say i think it should be something Pop, simply because it has the best chance of being recognized, whether it's a pop of one culture, or another. That's a more general choice that we can play with for hours thinking of what kind of songs to use. If not that, then there are our typical worldwide popular Rock artists such as Linkin Park and Aerosmith. Or perhaps even a television show theme? Thoughts/Comments?
Also, I really hope I get a new
esper soon.I mean, Belias is pretty neat, but I heard I can get Adrammelech soon, and Adrammelech was my favorite from FFTA, and his design is supposed to be the same. Meh.
. That would be incredibly nice.
If Belias is still your only esper so far, don't count on that being too soon.
Adrammalech
is an optional esper gain, so guage how well you'll do based on how close you can get to it with the hunts up until the one that leads you into the cavern (i forget which it is). I got him on the way to a mark completely by accident, you shold count on getting
Mateus
and
Shemhazai
first though.

Well first and foremost, many welcomes to Ezekiel. It is great to have you aboard. Go ahead and tell us a bit about yourself if you'd like and let us know what you would like to be called =). On another note, we seem to have received a rather no-so-subtle hint as to what the next challenge will be. Lyrical seems to point in the direction of another writing challenge, which certainly makes yours truly a happy camper if it is indeed so. Poems and Songwriting seem to be the more obvious examples of what Sandy could be talking about, or perhaps it's in a completely different direction. The hint may indeed be a bit of a thrower offer. Thoughts/comments?

Yup, big blast from the past hehe. When I saw this as the last thread replied to in Hardwired I thought someone had dug it up from years ago. Personally I think the game was overrated. The combat system was definitly annoying as hell often enough and I never could bring myself to like the main character too much. On the positive side though the game was definitly challenging, coming out in an era of easy to get through RPGs. Also yeah, the magic is pretty useless half the time...but certain spells had their place against certain bosses (like that dragon type boss early on in the game in the dungeons or whereever that place was), tis been a while. I wouldn't really put it on my life of top favorites, but it was definitly an interesting game to play through.

Well first, it goes without saying that travel anywhere on dragonback is quicker then a ship. Also, ja...very large continents. Ya believe me now, eh? =P. But in any case, there is not always a direct correlation between the size of the continents and the distance between them via water. These continents are much larger parallel to longitude, and hence the distance between them can be quite close horizontally. I specifically said the estimated distance between the two, literally (as in literally between them, on Nidorram's east coast and Kythira's west coast) and I also said dependent on the route taken. Both HQs have areas located close to each location called "Nests" that the dragons typically dwell when their riders are on other business. It's a mix of a large body of water (river size) with waterfalls and hidden cavern type areas (as you mentioned), though i referred to them more as secret hideouts ;P. However for the most part, you as the riders decide where your dragon stays since it isn't unheard of to hang out with your dragons on a normal basis pending what kind of relationship you have with him/her. But the dragons are not meant to be like horses, kept in an area until they are needed for battle. They are our companions, and in some cases even more. They can have the favorite spots to be, they can hang out in a nest, etc etc. Use your imagination, but remember that they should be accesible at all times. About the cities, actually Pharesh is a port city located around the center and Khardock is located more north and more west, it's the largest city on the continent. I had those in mind but neglected to mention I guess. Also, I've alread said that a lot of this will be under your control to create. I said in addition to the already stated geographical areas, you can take liberties and use your imagination. So obviously the castle won't be the only noteworthy city/hold/place on Kythira. Also remember that much of both continents are still under Empire control, including Pharesh and Khardock, so when you ask about other Empire strongholds, it's completely conceivable for them to be plentiful around the continents considering how much of them they control. Anything important toward the story's progression involving geographical locations I already have in mind, so there's no need to worry about that. Other then those, you are free to use your imaginations. -
Well, while i would have rather the challenge started off with 2 debates at a time and go at that pace (since it would have kept all 4 teams busy and made the entire thing go quicker), I suppose i'm fine with it just ending short for the sake of seeing what the next challenge it. I can't help but feel it was a bit of a waste to begin with because of the way it's turning out, especially since I was looking forward to debating personally. But eh, I'll deal with it. Since the only teams to be rewarded will be tied with the same amount of points, will the prize the winning teams will be sharing be the one intended for first place?
Hey, do we all have to be human? I had an interesting idea. Just a fleeting one, but if we don't have to be just human, I can grab that fleeting thought. ;D[/color']
One of the strongest themes of the story is that dragons only allow humans to be their riders. I won't get too much into that now as I'd hopefully like to get to that point once the RP starts up. But yes, humans only please. -
Darn. I take it that double-headed axes aren't permitted either, then? 9_9 Well, guess I'm out, then! >( ....no, actually, I did have a normal question. XD Does this world have many different terrains such as island/desert/foresty/snowy/volcanic/
radiaaaaation
? ...okay maybe not the last one. This question is just for curiosities sake, really. I like to know about the world and whatnot.
One of the larger points I wanted concerning the world, was that you have the freedom to shape it any way you want within the believeability of the era. Here's the concrete information on the state of the world: -Two very large continents: Nidorram on the west / Kythira on the east. In between are various sets of Islands and about a half a days boat trip in between continents depending on the route taken. -The Sapiens HQ is located within a large mountain range, and the Validus within a deep forest. -The two capital cities on Nidorram (now under Empire control) are/were Pharesh and Khardock. -On Kythira, there is a Isthmus toward the southern end that connects to a smaller mass of land (still part of the continent) that is where Garai's castle is located. -Ports on each continent are typically under the jurisdiction and watch of the Empire, but the Resistances have private ports that they run behind the Empire's backs. So part of the RP will be your shaping of the world in addition to these things, so yes there will be Islands, deserts, forests, snow, etc etc. You decide where to put em =). -

Lets just say I don't want things to get too out of hand with what the dragon's are capable of spewing forth from their mouths. I don't mind the corrosive acid in place of the fire, as my dear Adria will be capable of breathing out blue fire. Let's try to keep this capability within the reasonable range of what they should be. Take liberties with types of fire breathe if you guys want, or if you want to replace it make sure it isnt something like giant thunderbolts or a barrage of knives or what not :animestun -
OOC note: Please check the underground thread for some important and helpful information. I have edited with something that may help some people out with their snippets as well as give a better understanding. Edit - Alright, I'm awake and well rested so I can put in more. Snippet to come later. * * * * * Character Information: Name: Donovan Asclan Age: 28 Appearance: Donovan - Donovan stands 6'1, and can typically be seen wearing armor similar to the one in tthe picture (gold colored). When not in battle or in preperation for one, he usually wears normal civilian clothing, including a brown leather vest and wyvern-hide boots. Though he wears his armor more often, Donovan seems to have a more calm look about him despite his history of battle. Resistance: Sapiens Weapon: Donovan wields a rather large bladed lance, the main idea of which can be seen here. The actual blade starts out wide and narrows down towards the point. Spells: -Rain of Fire - [Offensive]: By command of the enchantment "Flamma Pluvia", mixing the elements of fire and earth, Donovan concentrates the extraction of long fire pillars from the ground and uses them to fire down and bombard anywhere between a concentrated spot to a wide open area. The flames take the shape of thin tornados and have chunks of the ground stuck in them. -Stun - [Offensive]: Donovan concentrates magic into the palm of his hand and fires out a flaring ball of non-elemental energy at a single opponent. Once hit, the ball disperses and causes a paralyzing effect which makes the target feel as if all of his nerves have been cut at once. The effect lasts for minutes, but takes longer to gain complete feeling and movement back into all of the limbs. -Wind Spirit - [Supportive]: By command of the enchantment "Ventus Animus", Donovan closely surrounds his body with a concentrated force of wind that serves as a movement enhancer in addition to providing a shield strong enough to deflect the likes of arrows or weak melee hits. For most attacks it would simply deter the force somewhat, but does not serve well as a shield to completely negate an attack unless the force behind the attack is weak enough. Personality: Donovan is a proud and noble man, one of honor and loyalty. He and the leader of the Sapiens Resistance, Gavlin Leonus are close friends from having fought together much in the past, so he is considered very highly within the ranks of the Sapiens. Despite his somewhat young age still, Donovan is quite experienced, having learned to fight in the field at the age of 12. When Donovan turned 18, he made first contact with Adriana and within that year established a strong bond that remains exceptionally strong 10 years later. He is often serious, but tends to lighten up when around Adria or certain other people. This is all trumped when in battle however, as Donovan's primary focus then becomes finishing it quickly. In battle he is tactical and efficient, always believing that the shorter the battle the better it is for everyone. Though this does not mean Donovan is an impatient man. Donovan is an appreciator of solitude and peace every so often. In times of momentary peace or when he's able to afford not being on call for the base he can be found with Adria by a waterfall or even in the middle of the ocean, resting atop his faithful dragon while she enjoys the water. He cares for Adria so incredibly, he would risk his own life for her. The bond they share is unlike one between a human and dragon that's ever been seen. Dragon Information: Name: Adriana, "Adria" for short. Color: Blue Appearance: Adria Personality: Adria cares greatly for Donovan, and is often kind and encouraging to him. On the lighter side, she also has a bit of a sarcastic side which tends to come out when speaking jokingly with others, whether it be fellow dragons or her rider. Adria is wise and clever, and will often boast very lightly about it, but overall she wants to use what she knows and what she can do to help Donovan and the Resistance's cause. She very much enjoys flying close to the water as well, as well as swimming in it. In battle she shares Donovan's desire for quick battles to reduce the amount of casualties, and acts accordingly. Adria also has the ability to breathe a mysterious blue colored flame that adds a sharp freezing sensation to the burning effect of fire. Bio/Snippet: Donovan turned his attention down toward the field from his position upon the mountaintop. The enemy?s Wyvern Brigade was sure to reinforce it?s ground units, and in very little time. It was hardly anything to worry about at that moment however, the numbers were greatly in the favor of the Resistance. It was exactly that however that puzzled Donovan. ?Why launch an attack on a strategic stronghold of the Resistance with such a menial force?? and ?Doesn?t Garai care about the slaughter that is sure to befall his troops this day?? were two prominent questions that ran through his head. Time passed by as the field began to grow more abundant in numbers that supported a victory for the Resistance. The young commander rested his eyes for a few brief seconds, as his thoughts seemed to be answered by his companion. ?It does not seem as if Garai will be sending his Wyvern Brigade in, Donovan. This battle has been won with no aid from us.? Donovan stood from his kneeling position and grunted as he fixed his weapon to the custom made sheath that was strapped around his companion, in a gesture of agreement with her. Donovan wielded a hybrid knight?s sword that was fashioned like a lance. A 24 inch hilt with a thick blade nearest the hilt that narrowed into a more than ample piercing capable point. ?Such a wasteful battle, what was its purpose? In comparison to the Empire we are little in numbers, yet on this day we crushed an attack by their Legion. Garai is not such a fool that this was merely unfortunate, this is most unsettling.? Donovan said, as he tugged lightly on his beard. ?Let us return and check with Felix. Though it appears to be a tactical victory for us we should get the official report.? Donovan nodded to his companion, as he grabbed hold of her side and leaped up onto her back. He settled himself in and gave his faithful dragon a light back and forth pat on the back of her neck. ?Adria, let?s go!? Donovan yelled as the dragon spread it?s massive wings and swooped down from their mountaintop position. As they descended, the final remnants of the Empire?s Legion could be seen scattering from the mere sight of the grandiose dragon. The sight of one of the five dragon riders of the Sapiens Resistance also caught the eye of another under the service of Emperor Garai.

Heh, I was going to save the creation of the underground thread for announcing the acceptances and start of the RP, but i've received quite a number of questions already so I figured i'd open this up any more. A few things concerning everybody I thought i'd clear up: -All of the dragons can breathe fire, it's common between them. They can all fly, swim, etc. They are able to talk aloud, as well as directly with their rider in private...how often they talk, who they talk to, or what they talk about is completely up to you. -The way things are looking so far is great, we're more then half way toward having the 8 slots filled. If they do get filled, then i'd gladly entertain as many more sign-ups that come in as possible, since i know that there will be a garaunteed 8. As i've said, it is not first come first serve. Any further questions/comments can be asked here. Edit: Some information about the bond between the dragons and their riders (you). It is mentioned in the chapter I posted for the anthology, but there is something called the Ouroboros Scroll which contains the magic used for humans to be able to communicate with dragons if the spell is enchanted correctly, and if the dragon's will favors the human that has been chosen. The dragon's willingness is more instinctive, but once the initial contact has been made in terms of the rider being able to understand the dragon and vice-versa, the bond between them must grow like any other relationship. The dragon must come to trust it's rider, and vice-versa. So when taking into consideration your relationship with your dragon, think in terms of how far you've come since that first point of contact after using the Ouroboros Scroll. Also, understanding the dragon is not as complex as there being many different languages. The dragons can understand one another, and the riders can understand any dragon that chooses to speak to them once they are able to understand their own. Contact between dragons and those who are not riders is most difficult however, as the dragon will be understood only in roars and other sounds. Though the dragons understand english well, they will not make sense to the person they are speaking to unless it is a rider.

In the land of Grateus, man and woman lived together among creatures of lore that one typically only hears about through stories and tales. Winged creatures such as Wyverns that roamed the skies until they were harnessed and Serpents that rule the waters from coast to coast. Many years ago however, magnificent creatures known as Dragons also roamed the land. Massive in size, they could take to the air with their wings or walk the earth in similar affinity. Unfortunately, it was also due to man?s desire for power that led to the dragon?s extinction. Once plentiful in numbers, dragons were harnessed by several groups throughout the years that fought one another for whatever purpose. War is a product of man no matter what era it is in, and the reasons seem to vary as much as we human?s do in physical appearance. As dragons were used as vessels for man to ride into battle, their lives have been shortened by a number of tragedies. Most of which involved all out attacks on dragons and their nests to weaken the advantages of the opposing army. In such expedited executions however, despite being fairly difficult it also effectively diminished the chances for mature eggs to hatch with healthy baby dragons to be born. At the end of what has come to be known as the Continental War, the eastern continent of Kythira and the western continent of Nidorram became almost entirely torn asunder in human contact, following the victory of the forces of Nidorram. In addition, only 19 dragons remained in Grateus after the chaos. Over the next few decades, some began to die out from either old age or wounds that even the strongest curative magic could not heal. Forty years later, with 14 dragons left they were now the victims of assassinations. A branch from the forces of Kythira that fought during the Continental War have emerged after going into hiding, under the leadership of a man named Garai. Garai and his followers sought to take revenge on those who remained from the opposition of the war, as well as their children and the dragons that remained in their keep. A new empire was born after much of Kythira was overrun by Garai and his forces, which grew greatly in number from town to town, city to city, and outpost to outpost. Many were still bitter from the outcome of the war, and forsook hope of one day reconnecting the continents between people in peace. In addition, the people were mostly in the rebuilding stages with hopes of either peace of simply trying to live a peaceful enough life. They were easily convinced that the gaining of power under those who were adept a leadership and tactics in order to intimidate those of Nidorram was truly the right path to reclaiming a dignified life once more. A sudden uprising in power for Garai would have been impossible however if it were just a couple of hundred seeking to form an empire. It was with the help of several inhabitants of Nidorram who were displeased with their status, creating riots and assassinating several leaders of the Western Kingdom that allowed Garai to take full advantage of the anarchy in the capital cities of Pharesh and Khardok. Four of the remaining dragons were killed by a massive nest assault by Garai?s wizards and warlocks. The rest of the continent fell easily with the capitals in shambles, and soon enough Garai?s empire had majority control over both continents with private usage of the ports that connected travel between Kythira and Nidorram. The remaining ten dragons were hidden due to lack of numbers to contest the Empire?s forces. Today, two resistances against the Empire exist on both continents. On the west, the Sapiens Resistance led by Gavlin Leonus. On the east, the Validus Resistance led by Vidarr Kaien. Though there is not much contact between the two, their goals are the same. Private ships are run in the blind spot of the empire with hopes that it can be continued as long as needed as a form of sending messages and communicating. In addition to an agreement made between the two, 5 dragons were granted to the Validus in order to be on equal grounds to fight the Empire. Though recently the Validus has lost their black dragon to a death of natural causes. Each dragon has only one rider, the roles of these riders are incredibly important to the ideals of the resistances and the eradication of the Empire?s influence and hold on Grateus. * * * * * Welcome to Of Humans and Dragons, set in the time most recognized as medieval myth. Where humans are capable of magic and share the earth with many creatures you only see in picture and dream about in dreams. I originally intended for this to be a story, but thought i'd give it a try as an RP and give other's the opportunity to help shape this epic story. You will have an immense amount of freedom within the obvious era restrictions (just remember to keep thinking medieval world of magic and dragons). There will be some minor guidelines as to what should be happening at certain times, but it's up to you to do them and by all means take advantage of shaping the world (keeping in mind some of the already existing features). The chapter posted in the Anthology can be found here (yes, the opening story was taken from this ^_^). It's not required for reading, but in case you're interested or want to get a better idea of how to picture things. By no means must you read it to participate in this RP. * * * * * Important Groups & Information: Sapiens Resistance ? Anti-empire resistance located on the western continent of Nidorram. Formed from the survivors of Garai?s attack on the two capitals Pharesh and Khardok. 5 Dragons in their possession, and their main base is located within a mountain range, along with a small city that is home to many citizens of both cities as well. Led by Gavlin Leonus (Gav-lin, Leo-nus), a skilled leader and war strategist and master archer. Was a former Dragon Rider, but his red dragon was killed in the Empire?s final assault on the main nest. Validus Resistance ? Anti-empire resistance located on the eastern continent of Kythira. Formed years after the Sapiens, main base located within a deep forest with parts running underground. 4 Dragons in their possession, the death of one black dragon of the last 10 was within the Validus?s ranks. Led by Viddar Kaien, (Vi-dar, Kai-in) a muscular powerhouse of a man skilled in a multitude of melee combat weapons as well as his fists. Never rode a dragon but has unparalleled battle experience and holds an angry disdain for the Empire. The Legion ? The Empire?s elite ground force, whether on horseback or on foot these soldiers are heavily trained and relied on for most of the Empire?s attacks, defenses, and raids. Rankings within the Legion range from Third Class soldiers to First Class soldiers, only First and Second class soldiers are trained on horseback. The Legion makes up roughly 65% of the Empire?s army. Legion commander is Sabian Deimos (Say-be-in, Day-mose), a cruel and unscrupulous individual whose most profound area of expertise when it comes to leadership is that of motivation through fear. Many in the Legion admire him for his swordsmanship skills and his tremendous record in dueling however. He is also one of the youngest notable officer in the Empire?s ranks, at 26 years old. He can be quite narcissistic as well, and wields custom made Katana sword as his primary weapon. Wyvern Brigade ? Branch of the Empire trained to ride and attack from atop wyverns. Often used as a calvary, but are also used for waves of attack by air for higher and rougher terrains. Wyvern soldiers are also the most commonly found guards for Emperor Garai?s personal castle. The Brigade?s commander is Gauran Vexler (Gar-un, Vex-ler), he is the most meticulous leader of the empire?s three branches. Known for having the most massive Wyvern ever seen in all of Grateus. Has an intimidating body frame and great strength, on par with that of the Validus?s leader. Wields dual knight broadswords and usually wears heavy plated armor. Arcanists ? Made up of a mix of wizards, warlocks, and beguilers. The purely magic branch of the Empire?s army, though the smallest in numbers are also the most deceptive and most destructive. Rarely ever used on the front lines, the Arcanists typically attack from out of arms reach and eye?s sight. The Arcanists are led by a powerful warlock simply named Riakath (Rye-a-kath). Of elven lineage, he is exceptionally intelligent and is utterly infatuated with destruction and death. It is rumored he is powerful enough to enchant and raise from the dead almost any living thing in large amounts. Uses a jagged ceremonial staff to empower his magic. * * * * * You will be signing up as the dragon riders of the 2 resistances: Character Information: Name: Age: Between 18-40 Appearance: Picture + Description or picture only...the choice is yours. Majority of magic used is elemental (fire, wind, water, earth, ice, lightning) and can be used in defensive and offensive manners, elemental-less damage spells (direct damage), and minor supportive spells like healing and shielding.
Sorry, during this whole debate round I've lost most interest in Survivor 4. It reminds me a lot of the Pokemon round in OBS3. Slow, repetitive and boring. I know Sandy has a good event planned next, since he always does. But still... ugh.
The whole slow and boring effect is getting to all of us i'm sure, heh. But we must endure. In reference to the questions: In terms of movies I love action/adventure movies, which includes just about any kind of martial arts movie. I also enjoy fantasy and sci-fi. To me, a great storyline can really only be conveyed through a serious overtone, with only hints of comedy rather then the whole movie be a comedy itself. You can imagine my dissapointment in having a real strength of mine neutralized by out script theme when it came to the last round challenge, regardless I still enjoyed it very much (as well as The Titan's script, you can ask Mary as I told her that, so i'm not just saying it because this is my team now :P). But Action and adventure really plays a huge role in interesting and detailed story telling for me, when it comes to movies like Face/Off, Gladiator, Braveheart, etc. It doesn't apply to every one of them, but it provides the greatest area for potential I believe. When it comes to Martial Arts movies, it's really less about the story then it is about the action. Put Jet Li, Tony Jaa, Bruce Lee, Tak Sakaguchi, Donnie Yen, even Jackie Chan on a screen for me and you almost instantly have my attention. Though the proper combination with the right director is always neccesary, it is not so much with the writer as I can thoroughly enjoy a martial arts movie that is more about the fighting then it is about the story. It doesn't mean I do not enjoy it or think it's essential, but that's what the other movies in the genre are for. Plus there have been countless MA movies that have conveyed a wonderful story (House of flying daggers for one, which also had strong themes of romance which I tend to enjoy as well). Sci fi and fantasy pretty much appeals to the same part of me that enjoys anime, the expansion of the imagination past it's popularly perceived borders. I'm a big Stargate fan when it comes to television, and enjoy movies such as FFVII: AC, Titan A.E, and virtually any vampire movie (I can very much do without another Blade movie however...) Books...well to be quite honest I don't read all that much, but I do every now and then and have recently finished the Moss Roberts translation of Three Kingdoms by Luo Guanzhong. I also thoroughly enjoyed the Davinci Code. Music, I listen to many types...i consider myself an eclectic person when it comes to this as I listen to everything from american rock and rap to j-pop, k-pop, to more classical music. My favorite bands/singers include: -Aerosmith -Red Hot Chilli Peppers -Breaking Benjamin -Anberlin -Linkin Park -Incubus -Foo Fighters -Matchbox 20 -Goo Goo Dolls -FLOW -Uverworld -Ayumi Hamasaki -Namie Amuro -Orange Range -Van Tomiko -nobody knows+ ...many more. Anyone with similar/other interests?

Heh, Mary and I were actually discussing things we could do for the thread while we wait through the bulk of this challenge. I couldn't really think of anything aside from simply discussing various subjects with one another, so i figure I'll go ahead and bring some things up while we think of something else. As for the debate, the format of 3 posts per person seems very restricting to me but seeing how slow they have been going thus far, anything more and we wouldn't finish this challenge until christmas. So it's neccesary unfortunatley. I just hope Darren gets his post up before the weekend. Alright then, I guess i'll go ahead and bring something up that i've been curious about. What kind of movies does everyone watch/books everyone reads? The genre is chiefly what i'm asking, but you guys can mention favorites too =).

"It's quite useful having somebody on board who knows so much about Ghouls, dear lady. Yet you are so young, it seems the hunters of the supernatural get younger and younger each day." Quan rambled, walking cautiously with his hands behind his back. "I am young, but I've seen my share. Obviously not more than you, my good sir." Angelica responded back, keeping her eyes and nose open. "Shang Quan, was it? What have your experiences been like?" Nicolette asked curiously. The tall chinese man, dressed today in a black suit avoided the question for a few seconds. Nicolette decided not to try and pry, but it was eventually answered in any case. "Mostly demonic entities, an apparition here and there...things that are more intricate then they are given credit for. Very distinct however in many aspects, so I can tell you quite confidently that neither of which are responsible for any of the actions here. If we happen to find this ghoul, it will be quite an interesting experience." Quan explained. The three came to a fork in the road, they seemed to round out from each other and overlook the point of the accident. Angelica reached out her face and seemed like she was trying to get a fix on a scent, nothing came to her however. "I'm not getting anything...we should probably check just in case though. Then we can regroup back with the others. There's a good chance the ghoul could have escaped by another means that we can't follow." Angelica suggested. "Wait, what do you mean...?" Nicolette inquired, only to have Quan's arm raised infront of her pointing to the right. "Angelica, anything now?" Quan asked, as a gust of wind blew past the three of them, allowing her a to take in much more then she had been able to before. Nicolette reached her hand up and regained control of her hair as she watched the chinese man, a bit startled at first. "Y...yeah, from the left path! It's extremely weak though, also I'm not entirely sure it's our typical ghoul...but it's worth checking out." Angelica said, taking a few steps toward the left direction. "Wonder if the others have had any luck yet." Nicolette wondered aloud as she and Quan followed Angelica down the more narrow path on the left of the road. "If anyone sees anything suspicious, don't hesitate to yell" Angelica said.

In the interest of a confusion deterrent in reference to time frames, Spartan in your post when is Oni training with Neji? Before or After Ichiro trained with him? I imagined all of this stuff was going on fairly early in the morning.

The crashing of a chakra infused fist could be heard slamming to the ground as a tall jounin adorned in white robes leaped from his former position, and emerged behind his attacker. The short dark haired genin retaliated quick with a back elbow but it was blocked by the jounin and felt his legs fall out from under him as he was brought down from the chest at the same time by an open palm strike. The next sound was the body of the genin dissapearing as it hit the ground into a cloud of smoke. "A clone?" A scream from behind caught the shinobi by surprise as the genin charged forward with a spinning low roundhouse kick, which the jounin blocked just in time with his left hand without a single movement of his head, and tossed the genin back causing him to flip back to his feet. "Very impressive, Ichiro. Your chakra channeling abilities make your clones near perfect. Though it will still be a while before you catch me off guard like that." Hyuga Neji said, slightly grinning with satisfaction. "I'm getting closer, Neji-sensei. Even with your Byakugan." Ichiro said, returning the grin and bowing his head in respect. "We're finished for today, Ichiro. You're welcomed to join us for tea however." Neji offered, as he started to clean up around the training grounds within the Hyuga residence. "My apologies sensei, but I must meet with somebody. Next time." Ichiro declined respectfully. "Hm, indeed. Take care Ichiro." Neji waved the genin off as he walked toward the large doorway leading outside. He tied his scarf back aroud his neck and straightened out his scabbard as he walked toward Mitsumi's house. It was still considerably early, but closer to lunch time then it was to breakfast. He knew Mitsumi would be up, and he hadn't gotten a chance to see her for a few days since she just returned from a mission. Everyone was still getting used to running missions with other ninjas beside from the ones that used to be in their cells, but in these times there were hardly enough dangerous missions to be concerned about teamwork not being as cohesive as possible. Not to mention, working together with fellow shinobi regardless of who they were was always a part of a ninja's training. Ichiro leaped up to the tree nearest Mitsumi's house, using it as a step to launch himself up to her balcony. The sound of Ichiro's foot hitting the floor alerted Mitsumi's attention, as the redhead genin turned her head and ran toward the door with a smile on her face. She slid the door open and jumped into Ichiro's arms, wrapping her arms around him squeezing him almost as hard as she could. "Ichiro!" she squealed, looking up at him. "Hey! Not so hard!" "Oh please, like you're that sensitive." "Heh, well in any case. How did it go?" Ichiro asked, returning Mitsumi's hug at that point. "Easy stuff, we got back late last night. It was a little awkward...that girl Midori was with us, she wasn't really all that talkative. Sakura-sensei seemed pretty confident in her though. We didn't really get much fighting time in though." Mitsumi explained, as she ran back into her room briefly to slip into her sandals. She ran back out and leaped clear off the balcony and down onto the streets. She looked up toward Ichiro and cracked a big smile on her face. "Hey! Hurry up or I'm gonna eat without you!" Mitsumi yelled up in a teasing tone. Ichiro rolled his eyes and leaped down after her, and the two proceeded on to the ramen house. Ichiro and Mitsumi talked on the way and the whole time during lunch. She was the only person Ichiro felt completely comfortable around, so he was most sociable around her. Being in a cell together in the past was fortunate for them as well, even if it was a bit of a task getting along with Konpaku Oni. As time passed, quite a commotion found it's way into the streets of Konoha as people began talking about seeing representatives from the Hidden Village of Sand in the forests of Konoha. Ichiro listened intently trying to put together what was happening, but couldn't manage to put together anything other then the kazekage himself was amongst the group. The two genin finished up and left the shop as another genin came running upto them. Her snow colored hair trailed behind her in the slight breeze as she caught view of Mitsumi's red hair. Mai caught up with her, not realizing Ichiro's presence quite yet. "Mitsumi...I..." Mai tried to speak, but after noticing Ichiro she froze up and turned her head, her cheeks redder then a tomato. Mitsumi looked a little confused at first, but turned her attention to Ichiro and put together why. Ichiro noticed Mai, and looked toward her a bit but eventually turned his head around, not wanting to give off any wrong ideas. Ichiro didn't really hold any grudge or animosity toward her, but everytime he tried to say something to her she'd run off. "Mai, hey." Mitsumi said, trying to make Mai feel more comfortable. She then turned her attention to Ichiro. "Hey! Ichiro, I'm gonna hang out with Mai for a bit ok? I'll catch up with you later." "It's fine. I have to meet up with Kaoru actually. She was bugging me yesterday to come see her today for some reason." Ichiro answered, still a bit confused as to why Kaoru wanted to speak with him. Mitsumi nodded at him, grabbed Mai's hand and ran off with her. Ichiro dashed off the other way and headed toward her house. By the time Ichiro reached Kaoru's house, she seemed to be already coming to the end of her training routine with another genin. He recognized him, it was Hizen Kurosai...one of the twins. Ichiro didn't know much about either of them, but held nothing against them either. Ichiro leaped down and watched the rest before interrupting. ?Excuse me. Am I interrupting something important?? Both Kaoru and Kuro quickly turned their heads to see a slightly annoyed Nagata Ichiro leaning on a nearby tree on the training ground, his arms crossed and his eyes slightly narrowed. Kuro slowly put Kaoru down and scratched his head as the clumsy girl stuck her tounge at Ichiro and started walking towards him. ?Who said you could come visit me while I was training, hmm?? Kaoru teased. ?Well, if I remember correctly,? he implied sharply, ?you were the one who told me to come visit you today if you don?t remember.? ?Gosh, Ichiro? you?re always so stuck up. You need to just relax and take that stick out of your ass,? Kaoru teased as she lightly punched the short haired boy while he chuckled a little, slightly patting her on her head. ?So, what?s up, Nagata?? Kuro finally spoke, his hands on his hips with a serious expression on his face. He was a little annoyed at the way that the two were playing around with each other? they were a little too close. Ichiro looked up at the annoyed friend and returned to his normal form of leaning on the tree while Kaoru lightly bounced towards Kuro and stood close to him. He coughed a little before roughly speaking in his mature voice, his eyes closed, then looking up at the two. ?I saw a few interesting fellows from the Land Hidden in the Sand wandering around in the village today.? ?Really?? Kaoru gasped a little, ?More of them? I wonder what happened.? ?Well? I actually don't know..? Kuro said, his right hand stroking his chin as he thought, ?but I'm guessing you want to find out, right?? Ichiro slightly nodded. ?Exactly. I see you guys finished your daily training, so why don't we go see some of these new people?? ?Alright! And maybe we?ll see some people we know, too!? Kaoru innocently added with a smile, the two boys slightly scoffing and rolling their eyes. The three then started towards the main area of Konoha Village, wondering what other members from other villages were doing there. The three genin stopped atop a rooftop and looked down toward the entrance, so far only seeing the usual crowds. Kaoru stepped a little closer to see better but her foot slipped causing her to lose her balance and eventually fall forward toward the edge of the roof. "Wh..whoa!" she yelped as she fell part way, only to be grabbed by Ichiro. He pulled her back in with ease with one arm, as Kaoru blushed a great deal and turned her head away quickly. "T...thank you, Ichiro. I'm such a clutz!" she said, adding in a squeaky tone at the end of her sentence. Kuro watched on with a rather unimpressed look, but quickly turned his attention back down to the entrance to the village. 'Sand ninjas...we ARE allies, so I don't think it's to cause any trouble. Something big might be happening though. If that's so, things might start to heat up around here.' Ichiro thought to himself rather seriously.

Sweat dropped from Ben's forehead and rolled down his shirtless body as he pounded the heavy bag with swift chop kicks and quick alternating punches. Basic movements and techniques in muay thai. He couldn't think of a better way of spending the remainder of his time before dinner then testing out the equipment in his room. Though many other thoughts were up there pretty close, but given the time constraints, Ben went with the more hard-hitting type of exercise.Ben paced himself more toward the end and brought his bag routine to an end. "Woo! Now that's what I'm talkin about. This is some good stuff this Dante fellow got his hands on." Ben said aloud as he wiped his face down with a towel, then proceeded to drape it across the back of his neck. He walked over toward the jacuzzi room, where incidently was where the shower stall was located. It was almost dinner time and Ben had to wash up and prepare himself if he wanted to make a good impression. Twenty minutes passed as Ben stepped out into the main chamber again, and promptly threw on a nice pair of white dress pants. Somewhat unorthadox in style, as they seemed to resemble work out pants more then something you'd wear with a suit. Though it wasn't Ben's intention to wear a suit to begin with. He ruffled through his hair with his right hand and scoped himself out in the full size mirror beside his bed. "Damn Ben, you lookin good." he said to himself, making a gunshot motion into the mirror. He walked over to his clothing suitcase and pulled out his white "TapouT" shirt and tossed it on. He picked his sparring gloves off the floor and tossed them into the middle of the ring. He walked over toward the inner entrance/exit to his part of the room and looked over his former roommate's room. "Hope the dude's alright. I wonder if he did something wrong?" Ben said to himself, remembering how Kuro was summoned by Dante's servant. He tossed a few things into his back pants pocket, grabbed a pair of sunglasses and fitted them atop his head, and finished things off with his gold chain. He looked at his diver's watch, which he kept on while in the shower and noticed the time was quite close to 6PM, yet with still enough time to spare for a little walk around. He walked out of his room and noticed one of the mansion's help standing toward the foot of the stairs leading down. "Hey chief, which way to the dining hall?" Ben asked, trying to act friendly with the servant. He figured he'd take his time, but it would be good to know where he was going when the time came. "Down these stairs, and to the left. The first room on the right passed the first hallway, sir." the servant responded. "Thanks a lot buddy, see ya there hopefully." Ben said, straightening the servant's bowtie. He continued on his way before hearing the chatter of two ladies a little bit down the intersecting hall before reaching the stairs. Ben slowed himself purposely, attempting to time his steps so he would cross their path before reaching the staircase. The two came into Ben's view, it was Ally and Jennie. He couldn't really make out what their conversation was about, though it didn't seem like much...or atleast the attempt at conversating for the sake of avoidin silence. "Well well, funny running into you here Ms. Ally. It seems our paths cross yet again." Ben said, slightly bowing his head to her. 'Ben, that's right...his room is on this floor. Well, it's good to see him actually.' Ally thought to herself as she smiled slightly. "Hello Ben, a pleasure it is running into you again." Ally said, feeling slightly more comfortable speaking with the mixed martial artist. "Who is your friend?" Ben asked, turning his attention to Jennie. "M..my name is Jennie." she said a bit nervously, as Ben took her hand in his and bowed his head to her. "A pleasure, you may call me Ben. So, are you two lovely ladies headed to the dining hall?" Jennie seemed a bit clueless on how to talk with Ben, she seemed intently focused on him though with her eyes. He seemed like someone so comfortable in his own skin, and more then that someone who seemed to ooze self-confidence. "It's still a little early, isn't it? I mean...we'd probably change into something else if we were headed there already, right?" Ally exlained, nudging Jennie a bit with her elbow. Jennie snapped out of her trance like state and nodded in agreement, allowing on a "Mhmm" to escape her mouth. "I see. Well then, let us kill the last....oh, 20 minutes together. Then i'd be more then happy to wait for you ladies as you change and escort you to dinner." Ben said, always keeping a sincere and full looking smile on his face as he spoke. "Well, your company is appreciated...but it's not neccesary to escort us, Ben." Ally exclaimed, in a bit of an unsure tone. "Please, I insist. I shall be a perfect gentleman, you need not worry." Ben said, hoping to assure both of them. Ben looked over at Jennie who drew her eyes to his shirt, he caught it and wondered a bit himself what she was doing. He then remembered the shirt he put on and intended to wear to dinner as well. "Ah, I suppose you're wondering about the shirt?" Ben asked, not really expecting anyone else at the mansion to know anything about something like that. "Well actually...I was a little curious." Jennie admitted. "But of course, allow me to fulfill your curious needs my dear. TapouT, you see is a clothing provider amongst other things for the mixed martial arts community. I wear this with great pride in what it is I do. Many of the fighers wear the shirts, hats, what have you. Myself, i'm not much of a headgear person." Ben explained. Minutes have passed since their opening words, the three of them surprisingly managed to muster up conversation topics enough to pass the time as Ally hoped it would. Naydine and Kain zipped back and forth and took out as many enemies as they could. Naydine was relieved to be inside her own Volker model again, she hoped that by taking the opportunity to enter the fray of battle, she could escape unnoticed and avoid being confined to the ship's brig. She hadn't expect to be reunited with Kain either, they knew each other through the Bi-gendered colony the respective home planets discouraged. They started talking based on their common interest in mechanics, and kinda hit off an odd yet noticable friendship. 'A few more...then I'm outta here. Hell if I'm going to let them toss me in a prison and torture me...' Naydine thought to herself as she thrusted her Volker's Needle Cannon through the core of another robot. As the Volker's began to deploy from the Obsession, some of the ship's crew members looked on and took notice to the unidentified mechs. "Who the heck are those two?" one of the ships's navigators asked aloud. "Are those the prisoners that were sent here in those transports before? What are they doing out in the field?" another one added. Neron stood in place infront of a chair and thought to himself with his hand up to his chin. "Prisoners eh, go ahead and alert Lex and Axel to make sure both of those Volkers get a personal escort back to the Obsession after the field clears. We wouldn't want them trying to escape now." he ordered, as private channels were opened up to the two volkers with their orders. Back in the field, a channel between Kain and Naydine is opened. "Nay, you don't intend on staying here do you?" Kain asked, clearing out a few more with his rail guns. "No way! A prison on a giant battleship isn't exactly the most complimenting idea in the world. You getting out of here with me?" Naydine responded. "Ha, like I want to be stuck in a cell myself. Let's just make sure we dont bite the dust before we can." * * * * * OOC: Sorry it's short, wanted to make sure you guys knew not to let us escape though :P. Can't wait for the awkward interaction once we get back on the Obsession, heh.
