1. I figured the teams were more for a reference of reflection, in which it's understood that past relationships or bonds have been established because of working together with certain people at one point. Currently, it's pretty much like the actual series after the tournament arc, genin and chuunin teaming up with each other in no particular order, the teams remained but they weren't always assigned missions with the same people like during training.
2. Concerning the card posts, I imagine while some are probably not as bad as others...but what if the character is reluctant to do what the card says? Can it be included in the RP that the character does not think it would be a big deal if he lied about the card or even didn't do what it says? Or will the Master give specific instructions followed by consequences if they do not do what is requested? I figure there has to be some kind of given incentive for the person to cave in and do as the card says.
3.
Actually, you don't even have to make any announcements. The one chosen to debate should immediately post their opening statement, just like in the last round. ;D
Ah, in that case. *thrust hand forward* Onward to victory, Beth! :D
4. I was gonna post something before I go to sleep, I thought about how to go about this while I was in class (during my awake time), so if anyone wants me to add anything specific in, lemme know.
5.
Ironically I see no reason to even compare alcohol since it would be to easy to counter with the point that Marijuana is not as deadly in that respect.
Indeed, exactly the point I was trying to make. Though it isn't even because I know all that much about Marijuana necessarily...it's more like I've done a ton of research and reports in my time having to do with alcoholism and drinking and driving, lol. If that were our debate topic, I think it would be easier for all of us. But Sandy wouldn't want that :p. In any case, I got no problem at all with letting you tackle this Beth. [strike]Let's wait to see what Mike has to say about it since for all we know he may be a seasoned cannibis researcher ;P. Or atleast someone more knowledgeable in this category than us.[/strike] Well we now know that Darren will be undertaking this for the LOLs. If Mike doesn't answer in the next 4 hours (give or take), I'll officially announce you in the main thread as our representative, Beth. If you're still up for it :P.
6. The worst thing you can do is make a decision based off of limited knowledge, when you HAVE the capability to expand it. Talk to your friend and make it very clear that you want to know if he intends on taking his relationship with Sue, and if not if he would care if you tried. See what his response is. If he says he wants to keep it up, let him have some time. Maybe a month, use your judgement based on how many times they hang out and how many opportunities she seems to give him. If he just shows no signs what so ever of moving on, then try it for yourself and if your friend can't understand the effects of waiting too long when his friend is being patient then perhaps it's best he learns the hard way. If you really want to avoid losing him as a friend over this though, then you have to decide which one is worth prioritizing. A good friend, or this girl. I think the answer is obvious due to many reasons (which i've probably mentioned on multiple occaisions in past threads) but everyone has their own preferences, so do what's right for you. If he says he isn't sure he wants to pursue her anymore in that way, then his indecision will cost him just as badly. The point is, you want to make sure if you make a move on her, you have a logical reason for doing so. By logical I mean a decision that everyone must adhere to in order for everything to make sense, including your friend. Unless he gives you some kind of special case or special request...like "I need 4 months and 23 days to gather my chi so i can focus it into my date asking cortex" (obvious sarcastic example, meant to convey a concept) then it's up to you if you deem him a worthy enough friend to honor it. So ask yourself: -Would this be worth possibly losing a friend over? -If my friend being logical about this? -Is SHE worth going through this extensive deliberation for? You can make judgement calls after you've cleared up what the situation is really like from his POV.
7.
I do have one early question though (and this may be covered in later tutorials anyway):
With battles...does it matter how much I run around and such? I mean, does it make any difference to the battle? If I'm further from an opponent or if I'm attacking from a certain side...does the game recognise that? I assume some later enemies might make more use of the 3D battle environment, but it hasn't seem to have made a tangible difference thusfar.

Well the obvious is that if your a certain distance, you won't be able to hit the enemy. But position around the enemy does matter when it comes to the enemy's attacks. Some have attacks that can hit behind them, on their sides, all around, and every enemy obviously can attack anything infront of them. So if you are attacking a certain enemy that has no method of attacking any of your party unless they are infront, you can avoid harm mostly by standing behind it until it turns around and refocuses it's aggro. Other then that, it makes no different in terms of damage you deal out. Taking advantage of the 3D environment will be essential later on, whether it's trying to escape an area-hitting magick attack or trying to buy yourself time or trying to lure it after you. Other than traps, your surroundings don't really play a big part of a battle unless your hiding behind a mountain or trying to shoot/cast from afar (i.e from one side of a cliff to the other). The game might glitch up every now and then though and you'll find that an enemy will get stuck between things, or just get stuck in a narrow path and can't get through.
8.
It's too bad we're against. For would be so much easier. Anyway, just talk about how it impairs you and how drinking impairs people and look how many deaths that causes per year. I suggest whoever is debating for this one get some real numbers on how many people are killed because of drunk driving a year. If Marijuana were legal you'd have about the same number of people dying, I think.
Marijuana is definitly not neary as dangerous as DUI, nor is the probability of injury, death or even sense inhibition as prevalent as it is due to the effects of alcohol when an intoxicated person gets behind a wheel. Both are exceptionally dangerous by themselves when simply circulating through the human body, but while the effects of alcohol poisoning may be more on par with the effects of Marijuana (and when I say more on par, i don't even mean that it's all that close), death is in greater numbers and happens quicker and more efficiently from alcohol related accidents alone. Throw in alcohol related deaths not caused by being in a car and the amount only rises. Even if Marijuana were to be legalized, the effects on human health from excessive smoking as opposed to excessive drinking happen at a noticbly slower rate. So a balanced comparison between the two would have to be very narrow on the side of alcohol comparison. I don't want to get into that too much now, or cite any sources and such lest I give our opponents any obvious help. There's definitly a wider gap of difference though. There are however more sides to this particular argument (our debate topic) then it seems. I don't know from personal experience but theres quite a good amount of info that can be brought up on the negatives (as Beth already mentioned) but the same goes for the positives. Though the negatives seem to be more abundant and statistic friendly so I think it gives us an advantage.
9. Well, while it seems as if we have received an odd subject...I'll ask first and foremost ask if any of our debaters have any strong/supportive feelings of the subject as well as our take on it, and if you'd like to confidently take on the argument? Or even if you have no pre-existing feelings on the subject, if you would like to undertake this for whatever reason.
10. When comparing the sins and the virtues, while it's ideal to have a proper balance between them (as both are near impossible to be completely devoid of at some point in life), one will always be stronger than the other. It may seem like there's a balance, but the only reason it may seem that way is because of circumstance, or variables out of our control. An opposing virtue to a vice, will always either be strong enough to counter the vice, or too weak to do so and only succeed to an extent. The whole battle is one fought mostly within the mind, as part of the battle to know onesself and to accept the truth and limitations of yourself. I personally am afflicted by 2 of the deadly sins above all other ones. One being lust and the other being pride. I will be the first person to admit that I am easily attracted to a member of the opposite sex that fulfills my personal tastes. Whether this can succesfully be counteracted by Temperance depends on the situation however. This is also what I talk about when I say circumstance. It appears to be an even balance on the outside because quite obviously, I'm not a rapist and I don't go up to every hot girl I see and grope the hell out of them and try to screw em. It's a mix between self-restraint and respecting the boundries between situations that allow for such actions (and no, i don't mean rape, i mean consentual sexual activity or touching), and do not allow it. I will not act on primal desires if it is a girl I do not know what so ever, and especially not if they are with somebody else (out of respect). However, if given the go ahead, or if involved with this person in some way whether it be boyfriend/girlfriend relationship, friends with benefits, flirting, etc etc...as long as it is consentual I will pretty much indulge myself. When in this state, it seems as if my lust is more than apparent. My self-restraint goes out the window unless something happens to stop us or if she needs to stop for some reason. In this case, self-restraint really only plays half a part on the side of knowing when not to give in to lust. Where as my lust plays every part in satisfying those desires when able to. It's more about knowing the boundries and being respectful. In this case i'd say my lust is stronger because when able and allowed, temperance tends to fight a losing war. Take note though that this doesn't mean i'm horny every hour of every day, the only time I tried to uphold a relationship based off of sex with hardly any compatibility in any other category was so mentally anguishing I thought I came out of it with a significant loss of brain cells. It cannot be done, and make you completely happy at the same time. It's that simple. I always prefer to know who it is i'm trying to start a relationship with before I even consider sex. A type of relationship built off of just sex is known as a ****-buddy or a booty-call, another situation where lust can bloom to it's heart's content. So it has it's place even with no collar on, but it isn't because of restraint, it is the absence of desire at that time or a desire for things not sexually related. It's as I already said, sex should be the last thing to try and build a real relationship on top of, maybe only next to hatred. As for Pride, it's probably my most obvious social negative. One i've significantly improved on in the last couple of years however, but one that will probably never be gone for good. I can tend to be very arrogant about my abilities, my intellegence, my talents...whatever they may be. I have a lot of pride in myself, and what I can do. Most people are lucky enough to be able to express this with simple confidence, but it seems as if I must take it one more step ahead in order to make it known. Why? I don't know...it seems almost out of my control most of the time. What is not out of my control however is my capacity for humility. I can easily recognize when someone is better at me at something, or when someone is legitimately intellegent, or when someone deserves praise for how well they are at their respective trade or knack. If I make claims implying otherwise, it is most likely because I am friends with that person, or on good terms with that person, and am doing so in a joking fashion and obviously do not mean to degrade. It is exceptionally hard to impress me in categories I am strong in myself though, as it's just as easy to feign proficiency. When proof of actual efficacy is shown though, the respect I hold for that person is incredibly strong. My pride is really only significant in matters of competition though, or in a situation where I aim to prove something. And note that competition doesn't only mean sports and such, it can be anything in which you are doing it in order to prove your the best, or exceedingly good at it. I can recognize my faults, I can recognize my strengths, and I've no reason to lie about any of them. That I believe contributes as much to humility as my ability to praise others when it's due. I tend to enjoy a more peaceful and humble atmosphere more often nowadays though. I've noticed that my pride really doesn't hurt me as much as I always think it does, though I still call it my greatest social negative. As for the virtues in themselves, I feel that I contain each of them in proper proportion and rather enjoy it at times. The only one that is a bit of a pain in the *** to uphold is forgiveness, as i've been put in many situations in my life that required MY forgiveness, even when I didn't want to give it or knew I was not required to give it. Other then that, I feel the 2 strongest virtues within me are Diligence and Kindness. Mostly because the sins that oppose those virtues are near non-existent within me. I didn't say completely non-existent...just near >.> . But aside from that I find them both essential to the way I want to live my life. Anyway, I do consider myself lucky to have it the way I do as far as my personality type goes. Nobody is without their negatives, while mine are strong in their respective categories, I find that they don't really hinder me as badly in terms of being able to be sociable and keep my friends. Friends bein as important to me as they are, I am quite greatful.
11. Ben's room was on the very next floor up, he broke away from the group upon seeing his name and another's on the door. He paid little attention to the other name, but pulled Ally aside quietly before continuing to his door. "Meu querido, I hope your room is very accomodating for you. I shall see you again soon for dinner, if you would honor me at that time with your company. Perhaps we can talk more and get to know each other over a delicious meal, no?" Ben asked, very gently stroking the back of her hand up and down with his pointer and middle fingers. It sent a brief shiver up her spine as she looked back at him, a bit unsure of what to say back. "Thank you and yes, you shall see me for dinner. Along with the other guests as well." Ally replied in her french accent, subtly hinting a joking tone. It brought a smile and a brief laugh to Ben's face as he bowed his head and took his leave from her and the rest of the group. Ben picked his bags back up and walked into his room and made a right turn, where the arrow on the wall with his name on it pointed to. He sang to himself one of his favorite songs as he walked into his designated room. He stopped in his tracks and dropped his bags, along with his jaw once setting his eyes on what he saw. He surveyed the room back and forth more times then he could count. "Lata tu acreditar..." Ben muttered to himself as he stood in awe. The room he stood in spanned into an elaborate weight and training room, complete with every cardio and weight lifting machine he used in his work outs, a giant heavy bag in the middle accompanied by a speedbag. The coup de grace though was in the left corner...a regulation size ring for training, pads and equipment laid out on the ring mat. Not only that, but in the actual colors and brands he uses in his fights. A bit more forward he noticed a giant king sized bed, surrounded in exotically colored drapes and curtains, also alongside the windows. There were plants all around the room and a mini bar opposite the right side of his bed. The scenary and designs reminded him of his home country, Brazil. He walked further passed his slightly merged training room and bedroom toward two giant glass doors. Ben opened them both at the same time and pulled them out, as the light wind began to blow against him once again. He surveyed the area atop his newly found balcony, as the coastline and shimmering waters met his gaze with much satisfaction. A bit to the right of his stand point, there was another door that led back inside but into a different room. Not about to stop there he quickened his pace toward the door and opened it to see what was inside. "This jus keeps gettin better. I don't know who this Master guy is...but he sure knows how to make a guy feel at home." Ben said aloud as he stared at his large jacuzzi embedded into the ground, surrounded by mini waterfalls behind glass serving as the rooms wall decorations. He noticed the background music playing from the speakers located in the top corners, embedded in the walls. Full playlists of everything from soothing instrumentals, to music meant to pump someone up. Ben walked out the east door of the jacuzzi room which lead back into his main chamber. He threw himself on the bed and rested there with his hands behind his head. "This is going to be one hell of a vacation." Ben looked over at his pillow and acknowledged the envelope. He reached over and grabbed it, intending to rip it open right then and there and read it. He placed his finger underneathe the flap before stopping himself. "Hm, that's right. Perhaps I should save it for later. There's no way I'm giving all of this up for one botch." Ben said to himself, as he got up and walked over to the main doorway. There he noticed his roommate Kuro on the other side, probably about to check his side of the room out. "Hey buddy, you must me Kuro?" Ben asked, pushing his luggage over to the side from the spot he dropped them. "That's right, and you are Benjamin. Pleasure to meet you." his roommate replied. "Pleasure's all mine champ, best check out your room too. If this Master of the house guy knows everyone here as well as he knows me, you're gonna start loving your life once ya see it." Ben said, followed by a brief laugh. He turned around and began to change his clothing into something comfortable yet good enough to wear to dinner in about 1 hours time as well.
12. OOC: Kinda winged it with the application-style thing, but the snippet should tell enough. Sorry it's up later then i expected, B. Lemme know if all is good. * * * * * "Naydine Realieu, you are found guilty of conspiracy against the Svune government, and fraternization with men. These crimes cannot be excused and you will hereby be transported to high security brig aboard a designated battleship in order to make sure that your presence will not serve as a consistent hindrance to our way of life, here on Svune." the sturdy and deep voice of the judge said, as she closed the case on the tall and curvy dark haired woman infront of her, her hands cuffed and bound infront of her. "Oh, this is just rediculous! It isn't like I was harming anybody, in fact I wasn't conspiring at all! This whole ordeal is being blown out of proportion!" Naydine tried to explain. The judge turned her back and ordered the bailiffs to carry her to the holding room while the transport vessel was prepared. The taller brown haired bailiff shoved Naydine forward and roughly escorted her showing little respect or care. Not that she expected any type of kind or sympathetic treatment. She knew that eventhough things weren't as they seemed, the higher ups of Svune would accept no other answer other than "She's a traitor! Away with her!". 'If only everyone weren't so damn narrow minded' she thought to herself as she felt her hair being pulled now. Naydine mumbled underneathe her breathe as she walked down the long corridor with flourecent blue lighting in intervals of 10 feet from one another on the ceiling, excorted by two bitter tools of the judicial system. 'We knew we were pushing it, trying to advocate colonies of gender co-existence. But will we never evolve from this ignorant state of mind?' Her thoughts carried her through the walk, but she half felt like bashing the two guards into the walls, running back and strangling the judge. That definitly wouldn't help her situation much. "Get in. You'll wait for the transport here! Strip out of those clothes and put this on." she heard one of the guard say as she opened the door and shoved her in, followed by a folded up one piece body suit being tossed at her feet. It was a fairly small room but it had a window, the other side of which was where the smaller transport ships were docked. She looked down at the clothing that was thrown at her feet and wore an unenthusiastic expression on her face. 'Ugh...they don't really want me to wear this ugly thing do they? Never thought i'd have to be wearing one of these...' she thought to herself, never expecting to be branded as a felon on her own home planet. She was a bit scared of what was going to happen, but more frustrated then scared. In a way, she also felt a bit excited. Not at the idea of being sent to a high security prison aboard a battleship, which usually meant that whatever crime that person commited was seen as a real threat to the existence of peace. But she'd be around ships and volkers again. She wondered what would happen to her VKM-002, though it safe to assume it was confiscated along with the rest of the group's equipment. She tried to use that as her rationalization for being imprisoned not being so bad. Naydine looked back at the guards who stood there, clubbing their nightsticks against their hands as if they were waiting for something. "What? You two just going to stand there and watch me change?" she asked, a bit irritated. "That's right, we watch you do whatever the hell you want to do while we wait for the ship. Though that isn't much considering there's only one window, a bench, and a few posters on the walls." one of the guards said, while the other laughed. Naydine sighed and started to remove her clothing, all the while cursing in her mind that she wanted to bash their heads against each other. She stepped into the prison suit, a thick yet tight silver and blue color. It didn't do much in terms of warmth either. About an hour passed until the transport ship docked, Naydine was once again forcefully escorted out of the room and toward the ship's position. She overheard the guards and the pilots talking a bit, and registered information in bits and pieces. 'The Obsession, eh? Well...I guess this'll be an interesting experience. They better have good food at least' Naydine thought to herself, trying to not think about what kind of horrible things might happen to her aboard the ship. 13.
Anyway, I'm not going to say anything about topics I would have trouble with, no need to give Sandy ideas right? ^_~ ~Is rambling here~
Which is exactly why I didn't bring anything of the sort up in my last post, hehe. Though I imagine he wouldn't need help giving us a tough topic to argue either way. I'm sure he's putting quite a lot of thought into these.
14. OOC: Wanted to get some info up for now, I'll finish it up a little later tonight. Hope his age is cool, wanted to make him kind of like what Neji, Lee, and Tenten were to the others. Not exactly rookies, but in the same ninja level (genin). So he's just a year older. [strike]Edit - Fininshed up Skills and Personality sections. I dunno why i expected to be the only character that used a sword >.>. Guess i was too used to my character type. There's a whole bunch of things that Ichiro will eventually learn to do with his Seisho-Tama, I wanted to leave some to be developed since Ichiro is still a genin (though I hope i'll have the opportunity to promote him rather soon). If you'd rather me put the "skills to be learned" down with the sign up Zeke, lemme know. Edit 2 - Added in some Extra Notes. Edit 3 - Added in Sample/Edited some info¬es.[/strike] - Everything complete ^^ * * * * * Name: Nagata, Ichiro Age: 15 Gender: Male Appearance: [Ichiro] -Ichiro stands at The outfit shown is Ichiro's usual attire, with the addition of a black scarf that drapes along the back (ending just above the butt) and his sword scabbard attached to his back behind the scarf. Rank: Genin Personality: Ichiro is a dedicated and stalwart ninja who wants nothing more then to serve his village the best he can. He even hopes one day to become the most powerful ninja to ever come out of his village, whether he's a genin or a jounin. He isn't concerned with the race to climb the ranks because he's confident that his contributions and skills will move him up when the time is right. He spent countless days training himself with his senseis to master the advanced techniques involved in Chakra Control and taijutsu. Because of the days he spent training, he hasn't really been able to hold down any friendships. Since childhood Ichiro has really only had one good friend, Mitsumi. Though he spent much more time on his studies and training then with her or any other person, he's always been silently greatful that she chose to be his friend since he never took the time out to go out and make any friends for himself. By his Sensei's recommendation, Ichiro wants to try and make more friends on a personal level rather then a work level. As expected, Ichiro doesn't exactly have the best social skills, but it has not necessarily made him a hateful person. Ichiro is actually a generous and kind person at heart. He's someone who would help someone in need even if he didn't not know them. Anything that translates to him being able to use his abilities to help people. On a more regular basis, Ichiro tends to wear a serious expression and act accordingly. He is a shinobi student often praised by his senseis, but receives mixed reactions from his fellow genin. When in the middle of battle, he is a quick yet careful thinker and likes to take on the "spearhead" role himself. He respects efficiency and intellegence, though he doesn't consider himself much of a strategist. He looks down on and disdains attributes like smug over-confidence, rudeness, and cowardice. He isn't afraid of putting himself in dangerous situations if it means the success of a mission, especially if it's the quickest and most effective way. Ichiro is someone who gives off the impression that he would prefer to achieve a mission himself, but realizes he cannot because of the 3-man cell rules. Ichiro actually has no problem with partners, but does prefer to do most of the work. He offers advice even when not asked, and typically hopes to shape his partners into worthy allies. This may be viewed negativley by some, but Ichiro does not do it out of arrogance. Equipment: Sword, seen here. Along with the usual pouch that holds a mix of kunais and shuriken (weapons are important to certain ninjutsu skills). Main Weapon/Technique: Ichiro's Primary Skill Focus: Chakra control and preservation Ichiro's Secondary Skill Focus: Taijutsu Ichiro grew up and trained knowing exactly what kind of ninja he wanted to be. His trained extensively and payed special attention to learning how to control and preserve chakra flow and output. His goal in mind was to be able to control the chakra in his body well enough to create physical forms with it in conjunction with his attacks (i.e attacks such as rasengan, chidori, etc). Ichiro has mastered creating a single ball of energy at a time, formed from his chakra between his hands, called Seisho-tama. It takes a great deal of concentration to create. This ball can be used as projectile or as a guarding/melee weapon and has great destructive power, just short of the type discharged by the chidori/raikiri technique. Ichiro also has the ability to control the movement/direction of the ball and to slightly alter the shape of it (oval, flatten, shaped like a large shuriken, etc). Ichiro trains hard everyday to improve his skills with physical chakra manipulation and hopes to create more then one ball as well as increase the potency. Ichiro can also use the skills of physically forming chakra in combination with his weapons. He can engulf his sword in this energy and improve not only the range but the power of which it has when making contact. This skill is called Yaiba-nami no Jutsu. This is the main reason he primarily carries only bladed weapons such as kunai and shurikens, he can charge them with chakra energy and use them as powered up weapons. For example a kunai or shuriken charged with this physical chakra has the power to go through a tree as opposed to simply piercing it. Ichiro's favorite technique with chakra charged weapons is to hold 4 in each hand and toss them at once in an arc'd fashion, allowing them to attack from two sides and form a web like effect. Because the Seisho-tama is a great strain on the usage of chakra, Ichiro was recommended another skill to learn and master, which is another of his skills to help with chakra regulation. This skills is known as Kyuuin no Jutsu, or Absorption. Ichiro can absorb the chakra from his opponents at close range, or create a short ranged vaccum (about 5 feet) to debilitate an opponent while he drains them. While it is effective in replenishing himself to the point of being able to fight if too weakened, Ichiro trains hard to expand his reserve space for chakra accumulation even further. Ichiro's advanced abilities to control and channel his chakra also greatly effect his taijutsu skills, he can channel his energy within his body to make his movements near 2x faster and stronger. This includes running as well as fighting. Though he has no speciality taijutsu moves aside from his sword techniques, he uses the basic fighting skills of the martial arts he was trained to know better than the average genin. He does have one favorite Taijutsu combo he has mastered that is meant to focus on dealing very heavy damage to a single opponent. This combo is called Kage shinkou tatsumaki rendan ? four clones of Ichiro are created and perform multiple rising roundhouse kicks are performed from each side of opponent into the air while another clone (or the actual body) remains on ground. Each clone then kick the opponent downward while the grounded clone/body catches opponent with standing thrust kick. Using his chakra channeling abilities with his hand to hand fighting is less of a strain then the Seisho-tama is, so it's typically used more often. His Taijutsu also involves the usage of his sword, though not as often in normal fights as his hands and feet. He concentrates more on his primary ability in hopes that it will improve all of his skills along with it. Biography/Writing Sample: Ichiro sat quietly against a tree trunk in the forested area on the northern outskirts of Konoha Village. It was quiet aside from the usual wind blowing through leaves, animals scurrying in and out of bushes, and birds chirping away as if not having a single care in the world. Ichiro lifted his head from it's lowered position and took notice to the destroyed remnants of multiple training dummies designed to be targets for kunai throwing and other weapons. He watched as a small squirrell ran toward one of the shurikens still on the ground, the slight touch of it nearly burnt the paw of the woodland creature and sent it running into the nearest bush. He stood in place, his fists clinched...something you wouldn't normally catch Ichiro doing. He turned in place quickly and thrusted his leg out and struck the tree behind him with a massive front roundhouse kick, tearing clear through the trunk as the tree tumbled over into the clearing where the dummies were once set up. Ichiro stood still for a bit and calmed the chakra flow from his body down. His senses alerted him however, as he turned quickly toward his ten o'clock position and focused his gaze upwards toward the thickest branch on the tree. "Hey Nagata, don't take it out on the tree. That was definitly impressive but trees don't hit back" the smug voice of Zensei Ginmaru came, creating much dischord to Ichiro's ears. "You got some nerve, patronizing me Ginmaru. Our ranks might be different, but the rank is nothing in comparison to what I'm capable of." Ichiro stated firmly, annoyed a bit on the inside more so with himself for getting annoyed at his misfortune concerning the chuunin exams. Ginmaru, once a normal sparring partner and even friend of his now saw amusement in teasing Ichiro's lost chance at being promoted along with him. "Look, it isn't my fault you couldn't watch out for your ally AND yourself. Besides, i'm not here to pick a fight with you old buddy...though i'd love to spar with you just like the good old days." Ginmaru replied, slight sarcasm detectable in his voice. "I'm simply here to tell ya that Tsunade-sama requests your presence. Talk about being in the wrong place at the wrong time...I get stuck with being the messenger boy." "If that's all then fine, you may leave my sight now." Ichiro exclaimed, kicking the fallen trunk away with ease as he passed by and collected his weapons. Ginmaru gave a satisfied sigh and jumped to the next tree intending to return, but stopped to turn his head and speak one last time. "Hey, Ichiro. There's always next year!" he said, continuing on his way shortly after. Ichiro hated feeling worked up, it wasn't in his nature but he couldn't help but think of his missed chance. He knew it didn't mean that he was any less skilled then the recently promoted chuunin, and he knew that his abilities were recognized by many of the senseis and even the hokage. It upset him more that while he didn't have many friends, one he thought he had seemed to turn on him over the issue of official rank. It bothered him less nowadays in that way, and annoyed him more so. Ichiro didn't want to keep the 5th waiting, he expedited his re-gathering and sped toward her office. He had many plans for the day, and wondered why Tsunade-sama wanted to see him. He wouldn't have minded going on a mission, it would be his first real one in weeks. He had also planned on making a visit to the Hyuga household as well to see Neji. Neji was one of the village's jounin that Ichiro admired the most, and had the pleasure of having several training sessions under his watch. The prodigy of the Hyuga had become much more open-minded about training outside of his family's personal grounds. He also wanted to see Mitsumi, she had been sent out on a mission a few days ago. He heard she had returned and wanted to ask her how it went. His loyalty to the village had to come first this time though, especially since it was a request straight from the Hokage. It warmed his heart and his courage to know that even the great leader of Konoha acknowledged him properly. Extra Notes: -Ichiro was unable to take part in the last Chuunin exams due to a injury suffered when trying to save an ally (Mai) on a mission the day before the exam. While it only took a week to recover from the poison injected into his body, it was long enough to keep him from takin part in any part of the exam. It makes him a bit frustrated knowing that he could have been a chuunin by now, but constantly has faith that his skills will be recognized in any case. Though he thinks about it, he tries not to dwell. He also holds no real grudge against Mai, but she tries to avoid Ichiro everytime she crosses paths with him. -Ichiro is currently trying make new friends and become more involved personally with other's rather then only on a work level. He finds it to be difficult, but desires it in addition to his Sensei's advice, not because of it. -Childhood friend of Risashi Mitsumi, tends to be protective of her since she's really the only person he feels completely comfortable around. -Former friend of Zensei Ginmaru, currently holds him disdainfully for a tear in their bonds caused by Ginmaru's now insulting attitude towards him. -Ichiro has led many missions along side genin teammates, but has no actual leadership experience with cells involving chuunins. Though he has not been promoted, he asks constantly that he be given a chance to lead despite his ranking. He is highly respected by many of the other jounins of the village, but he knows that it isn't up to them if he gets the opportunity or not. -Ichiro admires Hyuga Neji a great deal, and trains with him at times. Neji tends to go harder on Ichiro when training because of his knowledge of the immense chakra that he holds. He's witnessed with his Byakugan the extremely condensed and collected style of the chakra inside his body, though it is unknown to Ichiro how it actually looks. -During his training with Neji, Ichiro has noticed Hyuga Junko often sitting or doing chores around the Hyuga household, but has never really had the opportunity to speak with him or get to know him. -Ichiro holds little respect for Gin Batou, and views him as a slip-up in the promotion system of Konoha. -Ichiro has noticed Matsumoto Kaoru on multiple occaisions trying to train by herself, and despite her clumsiness, he admired the effort she puts into her moves even if she messed up. He also happens to think she is quite cute.
15.
but your real friends who have real thoughts and really care.
One thing about your real friends when it comes to your appearence, is that it shouldn't matter. They may give you objective (or subjective...everyone's got their own way of doing things) opinions about your appearence if that's what you want, but by no means should it determine how your viewed or valued. As for boyfriend/girlfriend, it's an unfortunate thought that they compensate for you not being the spitting image of perfection by claiming you are. Allamorph is half correct though in that the importance of physical attraction in a relationship can often inspire idealistic delusions. But a real relationship built on compatibility as opposed to one built on attraction is not a source to take for granted when asking honest opinions on yourself. It depends on how well you know each other, and how close you are. So don't necessarily count the opinion of your significant other out right away. The truth of the matter is that when your in a relationship, neither of you are the prettiest person in the world, however neither of you are also the ugliest person in the world. It's important to remember that the worst way you can try to assess your own esteem based on appearence is by comparing yourself to others. As for myself, I'd be lying if I said I didn't care the least bit about my looks. I like to be presentable when I leave my house and therefore I make sure my hair looks alright, my facial hair looks alright (and believe me, if i don't shave, i got a lot of it). That is normal however, I simply don't like appearing dirty whether it be in public or simply infront of my friends. It isn't about how other's look at me, it's about how I feel based on how I look. But I know it isn't a disaster if I look like i just woke up when simply hanging out with friends. I happen to think from the neck up I look somewhat decent, maybe even attractive (I'll leave it to the opposite sex to determine that exactly). My body is in good shape, but I could stand to do a little more work. For my age and height, I am actually 8 pounds underweight according to my doctor. My metabolism moves a bit too fast for it's own good sometimes, heh. But this only means that I get to eat more, and I don't have to worry about losing excess fat before lifting weights or doing ab work outs. So it's not that I'm unsatisfied with my appearence, but I do acknowledge that i'm not quite at my standard yet. Not a big deal, as i'm sure the majority of people feel the same way. Though people typically have exorbitantly high standards, it's best to keep them within reaonable limits. In any case, when taking into consideration how your viewed by the opposite sex, anyone that tells you that looks aren't important are lying through their teeth. It's human nature, it's normal, it's nothing to admonish or be ashamed of/about. Physical attraction to good looks is like bait on a fishing pole. You see what you like, then you give it a chance to see if you really like it. It isn't the most important part, but it's often the catalyst for the motivation to want to get to know someone for what really matters, like intellegence and personality. Another thing to remember about the way you view yourself versus the way other's view you. As long as you are satisfied and have good self-esteem, it more then often reflects off of you and also helps greatly in how positively other's will view you. Usually, people appreciate much greater what you can offer beyond your own looks. That's typically what becomes most memorable.
16. Well when it comes to popularity on most online forums, while many of the people who go through the efforts of establishing themselves simply by being a model member or doing what they do, a large population of people acquire "fame" in another way. The first kind of popularity is usually noticed in higher value and despite a bit slower, that kind of recognition becomes more meaningful. It is like I told Adahn in one of he previous topics, if you want to show what your best known for such as intellegence or writing, don't try to go around forcing your influence on people. You'll be noticed for the right reasons eventually without having to go through the part where you annoy more people then make friends in the process of hunting for respect. You earn sincere respect on or off the internet, you don't extract it from people. The second kind of poplarity i'm talking about, and i've seen it many places, is something I like to call popularity through fraudulence. Namely it's where people feign knowledge or intellegence by commiting logical fallacies, speaking extensively on a topic that is easy to predict as something the majority of people know too little about to make a call on BS, or stating the obvious in a different light then from simply saying it in the most common ways. More than likely, this appeals to the members who don't really know anything about the topics that are being discussed and see this display of seemingly significant rambling and mistake it for intellegence. While this type of popularity is a personal pet peeve of mine, it does not neccesarily mean that the contributions made from a person of this nature are all meaningless. Popularity is popularity, there's no getting around that. The methods to which it has been achieved may be questioned or may be accepted, but everyone has their place in the community just like a real life society. There are plenty of other smaller ways of being popular, like constantly creating contraversey and trouble (i guess that's more like Infamy, anyhow). In any case though, popularity on OB specifically seems to have a good variety in it's uprisings. We have people who are popular for their talents in writing, RPing, debating, GFX, charisma, etc. I'd be lying if I said i respected every member (simply because I respect people who have done things to deserve it from my perspective, it does not mean i dislike those i don't respect since everyone has the ability to do something respect-worthy, and it certainly does not mean that I would disrespect them), but I'm proud to say that in my near one year's time here on OB I have seen and met plenty of people who are really the epitome of what an online community should be. Another main point I would make has already been said, that whether your popular or not, your contributions to the community is just as important. Every member that tries their best to be a valuble member (i.e ones that don't sign up then never post, ones that don't sign up to simply advertise or mindlessly spam for the hell of it) and generally succeeds for the most part all have their rightful place. As for members I personally like here on OB, I have quite a lot. I won't go through a detailed list for all of them...because I doubt anyone cares that much along with the fact that it would be too much to write. Among the list are [Sakura, Eclipse, Redemption] - My Aussie Girl Group , Tekkaman - My Bro, Kitty - My very first RP friend/partner, Keyblade Wielder - My favorite GFX maker :P, The Boss - Whom I respect for his writing and RP ideas, Shy - Whom I respect for the way he runs his events, especially OI2 in certain aspects particularly, along with many others. They range from good friends of mine to people i simply respect for one reason or another. I will say something about a certain member though, as everyone else has already pointed him out as being a great person as well as generally pretty popular around here, i'm talking about Dragon Warrior. Many people chiefly like him for his writing and comedy works. After having gotten to know him more personally thanks to originally being on the same OBS4 team, aside from being a fan of his work I have to say that DW really is an all around great and funny guy and a very dedicated and ambitious person. Kudos to him as his popularity here is indeed an example of one not overexaggerated.
17. It does indeed seem like we will be here for a while. I've been doing some thinking on what kind of topics Sandy will have up his sleeve that will be the topic of future debates. If abortion is a glimpse into the future, we're going to have some serious point/counter-point arguments forced upon us (i.e for or against something, like the first debate). Though I can't wait to see what our first one will be about, this method may certainly not sit well with some people due to a conflict in beliefs. Though it seemed to work our remarkably well with 2 members of the Mercs being Pro-choice on abortion. I have to say in my objective opinion as well, Aarayana is doing quite well for herself so far. So hopefully amongst the three debaters chosen here, we won't have too much of a problem with the aforementioned issue. Well, while we wait...if anybody wants to kill some time by bringing up some ideas or just to do a little something within the team thread, feel free =).
18. The limo pulled up infront of the Museum of Ancient Chinese Art and parked a tad sloppily just before the police blockades. The driver promptly opened his door and soared out of his seat to open the door to the back. A man of about 5'10 stepped out one leg at a time. His body adorned in a beautiful blue, white, and gold traditional Han chinese robe. His cheekbones were sharp and his face and head showed no hair aside from a small triangular soul patch that looked more like a tatoo than facial hair. He was younger then people have come to expect from most chinese men of modern day that dressed the way he was. His limo driver bowed quickly to him and outstretched his arms to his side, as if to say "this way!". The man nodded his head and placed his hand on the driver's right shoulder, and proceeded in the direction. "Master Shang!" the voice from one of the Museum doormen said, as Shang Quan of Ji-lin acsended the stairway. Quan bowed his head to the guard and spoke. "Please, point me in the direction of the disturbance." "Please sir, follow me!" the doorman said as he hurried himself to escort the regal yet tough looking chinese man toward the Warring States exhibit. Quan followed, his sheathed Dao sabre swaying at his waist. They were stopped at the doorway to the exhibit, and the escorting duties were taken over by one of the detectives. "Master Shang, it's the ceremonial statue of Guan Yu. None of the officers or guards can seem to get too close to it. It's difficult to explain, but it's like they are being repelled!" the detective said, a bit excitedly. Quan just laughed subtly to himself and looked toward the statue's direction. "Well now, that wasn't so hard to explain after all...now was it?" Quan said, giving the detective a smile before approaching the statue a little bit more. He took one more step and felt the presence of the barrier that had been described to him. He stood about 10 feet away from the statue and turned his head in both directions as if looking for something. He pressed his hand out onto what would seem to be the surface of the invisible barrier and dimmed his smile down to a more serious look. 'Such menial trickery, your purpose for being here better be a good one. Not that any reason you give would be considered "reasonable" anyhow. The greatest shame of this situation is what you will do if I do not go as far as destroying that statue to stop you...I suppose I could do it cleanly, so a chance for successful repair is high' Quan thought to himself as he placed his hand on the hilt of his sword. Quan unsheathed it and held it with bent elbow infront of his chest as if about to thrust. "M...master Shang? What are you doing?" one of the guards asked, a bit concerned at the sight of the sword. "Shang! We've already tried getting to it! Surely you feel the barrie..." one of the higher up officers began to say, but was promptly cut off by Quan's swift swinging motion of the sword where the statue's neck is located. He twirled his sword around once and sheathed it as everone watched on, confused as to what the super natural exorcist was attempting. "Um...Master Shang...it was a nice try, but it's like we said...we just can't get throu..." The guard's sentence was left unfinished, due to the sight of the statue's head falling over and onto the floor as it layed cleaved from it's body. Loud gasps came from the crowd of police and museum employees, mixed between ones of amazement and ones of horror from seeing one of the most popular ceremonial statues from chinese history decapitated. It was then a flash of light emitted from the headles statue, as a goat-headed apparition emerged from the severed neck of Guan Yu and grunted angrily. "Curse you, demon of the wind! You will not have the satisfaction of doing away with me!" the apparition scowled as it flew out and thrusted forward at high speeds toward Quan. "Master Shang! L..look out!" a cry came as the supernatural entity thrusted into Quan. More gasps of amazement came from the crowd of officials as Quan's garments seemed to sway, as if outside in the wind. In front of him, the apparition was being held off by a swirling mass off wind too dense to allow entry. "Demon of the wind? Well I don't know about demon now...but you may tell whomever you want whatever you want once you are returned from where you came!" Quan said, starting off low then leading into a shout as he fired out the dense wind infront of him toward the ceiling of the museum, carrying the apparition with it. The manifestation of wind crashed into the ceiling, creating a loud crashing sound as rocks and rubble began to fall from the roof. Officials screamed but the debris never hit the ground as they were carried away on small gusts of wind and placed gently into an empty corner. Quan looked around, waiting for a possible counterattack by the ghostly figure. He let a minute pass before dusting his vestment off and walking toward the head detective. "He...did you destroy it?" the detective ask. "No. I'm afraid it escaped in order to preserve it's existence here on this plane. However, I can assure you that it will not return here." Quan said, as he bowed before the officer in charge and began walking out of the museum. "Oh! Please, send the bill for the damage to my residence. I will pay it more than willingly." Quan exclaimed after stopping for a brief moment, then continued walking. Outside, Quan's limo driver greeted him. "Master, have you succeeded?" "Yes, it was a Capra Apparition. It managed to escape, but it fears me far too much to show itself around these territories once more." Quan said as he bowed his head in thanks for having his door opened for him. The driver closed the door, but was still confused about one detail. "Master...I am glad you have done this great service, however...I thought apparitions were like ghosts? Aren't they impossible to deal damage to, even with your advanced wind techniques?" Quan laughed subtly to himself again before turning his head to his servant. "Fan, there is much you do not know about the supernatural. These people share that same bliss as you...perhaps it is better that way. But remember, there is much more to these occurences and entities then what you read in books, or see on TV. " Quan explained, as his driver Wu Fan bowed his head in understanding, not wanting to question his master's knowledge. * * * * * Name - Shang Quan (surname/given name) Gender - Male Age - 30 Appearance - Explained above Personality - In case it isn't clear, Quan is a man doing quite well for himself. He is respected and respectful, and is more than dedicated to eradicating the threat to the human world, whether it be minor or major. He is proud of his chinese heritage, as shown by his clothing, styles of fighting, and belongings. Level of Magic Use - I'd say fairly advanced, but not the strongest in the world. Magic Type: Wind Other Special Skills: Quan uses the sword fighting style of the chinese Dao sabre, or falchion. In addition Quan is quite nimble with his hands and his feet, though his movements are almost as sharp as his mind. Quan is also an excellent cook, skilled in cuisines not only chinese in origin but many dishes from other cultures as well. Though he could hire chefs to cook him his meals, he chooses to do it himself to fulfill the hobby. Note: In case anyone didn't get what happened when Quan slashed at the statue from so far away. He used his wind ability to create a sort of extension off of his sword and used the wind to slice the head off. Note 2:
19.
^_^;;; So that's a mess-up on my part. If you guys want I can edit. I was sort of just writing without thinking. Actually, I think I should edit it so that we're on the ground or maybe just pull out my post. Sorry kids.[/size']
It's fine, you can leave it. We've been doing a lot of RPing from our own perspectives of several scene, like how Allamorph just did with his last one leading up to my last post. It's best that the scenes aren't so far apart that it almost seems like we're backtracking with every post, but things work out fine if the posts aren't always following the leave off point of the most previous one. As long as it moves things forward.
20. I thought by Revalation's post we skipped the flight sequence and merely got to where we were going. I thought it would be difficult to do the whole wrist-thing and conversating while flying since the wind and speed of our travel would hinder normal speaking functions past screaming back and fourth loudly, and having Xavier in a wrist-lock by Amelia out of nowhere would cause some kind of body movement that would involve not being to control oneself without the usage of hands and planting one's feet...which is impossible while riding a unicorn at high speeds I imagine. Dunno, seemed like a scene that worked better on the ground...plus i figured everyone would want an opportunity to start showing off some magic in actual battles since few have not yet done so, and other's would probably want to elaborate. Sorry, if you had something in mind for the flight itself Allamorph.
21. Ok buddy, two things first and foremost: 1) If you take an unannounced long term leave of absence anytime in the near future, i'll know that your wife probably saw this and will pray for your speedy recovery in whatever hospital you'll be laying up in =) 2) Dunno if you've ever seen The Boondocks or not, but did the first conversation betwen you and "Taffy" turn out something like: Blaque: Well hey there, cutie pie! What's your name? Taffy: Taffy, like the candy. Blaque: Taffy? That sounds like a stripper's name. Taffy like the candy, might you be a stripper? lol. Oh, and indeed Blaque is pronounced "Black" (unless of course Tekka has some contorted alternate pronounciation for it)
22. "I am from Brazil, born and raised! Though I have travelled many many places. I have also seen many beautiful women, but none I'm afraid as captivating as you, Ally was it?" Ben said, answering Sean's question but turning his attention to Ally once again. Sean seemed a bit annoyed, but only subtly at Ben's advanced linguistics as far as charming went. Ally blushed a little bit, mostly from being so surprised that someone would go so out of his way to compliment her in such detail. His eyes certainly captivated her attention along with his words in return for his enamored state, a state mainly caused by her own eye color and the curves of her body. "Why...t, thank you. Though i'm sure your exaggerating." Ally replied, placing her left hand over her right. Sean looked as if he was about to speak, but Ben turned to him promptly and addressed him instead. "Sean, correct?" Ben asked, feigning forgetfullness. "Yes." Sean said sternly. "You seem like a very well put together man, tell me what is it you do?" Ben asked, as he placed his sunglasses on his head. "Well, actually I'm the head of Blizzard North's development team. Let's just say I know my way around a storyboard." Sean replied confidently. "Ah, very good Sean. Then you and I are masters of our trade, for I know my way quite well around a martial arts ring." Ben replied, making subtle striking motions with his fists. He beamed a bright smile throughout the entire exchange of words, as well as taking occaisonal glances back and forth at Ally. 'Hm, so he IS a fighter. That's not surprising.' Ally thought to herself, recalling her initial impression of Ben. "...and you, meu querido?" Ben said, aiming his glance in full force at Ally. She didn't quite understand what he had said at the end of his sentence, but figured out for herself it was some type of endearment. "Well, I'm an engineer for the french military. Currently seated behind a desk, but that doesn't really bother me." she answered. Ben took his time scanning her body up and down. Her answer didn't surprise him too much, as her body was definitly toned like someone who has had some form of defense training. "Is that so? Then you must have some moves of your own. It piques my curiosity as to what kind of training they offer in the military. Perhaps at a later time, you could show me a demonstration." Ben said, with a slight grin on his face. "So! What do you guys think about this whole ordeal? Any idea what we should expect?" Sean added in, changing the subject once again. "That's a good question, I was wondering myself! But then again, everyone of us probably has been too." another voice from behind the three of them said, before either Ben or Ally could answer. They turned their attention to see a young blond haired women in her early twenties holding her sunglasses between her fingers, standing not so far from them probably allowing her to eavesdrop a little.
23. "Your mother? She was a magician as well, right?" Xavier asked, as Amelia's facial expression quickly changed. "Yeah...everyone in my family was in some shape or fashion." she answered, not really alluding to wanting to keep the conversation flowing in it's current direction. "Sorry for chiming in so suddenly, but where are we?" Darius asked, looking around. A series of seemingly erratically designed streets lay before them that sprawled out into all different types of directions. Many of the streets were bricklayered and old fashioned. "This is SoHo, one of the bordering neighborhoods to my home neighborhood actually. It surprised me to find that one of the magicians Crowley introduced me to a while back lived so close to me." Xavier answered, as the others looked on. "Wow, this area is waaay different then the parts of the city we've already been to." Nikki said, a bit enamored with the design. "Indeed, this is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Manhattan. It's layout is qute different from the midtown areas." Xavier explained as he walked a bit upwards on Canal street. "Who is this magician we are going to see?" Ivy asked, following a bit cautiously behind Xavier. "Her name was Trisha, wasn't it?" Mugen asked, remembering the name they had decided on in Crowley's contact book. "Yes, Trisha Parke. She lives just up this block here." Xavier confirmed. "What are her...abilities?" Cammy asked, almost unsure as to what to call it. "Well...she has a rather unusual ability. She can..." A screeching sound from the party's left side interuppted Xavier's line as the empty streets of SoHo began to fill with shadows. Black cloaks started emerge from the street one by one until there were about 5 of them. The magicians were spread out a bit on the sidewalk but were surrounded leaving space between them. "So, they tryin' to keep us from seein her eh?" LeCrosse said as he readied to defend himself. "This isn't good. Their arrival here could easily mean that they know about Trisha. We don't have time for this, so the best thing to do is to just get by them as fast as possible...whatever that may involve!" Mugen said as he thrusted his hand out infront of him.
24.
The truth has been revealed! We'll be facing other teams! [/FONT']
Yesh indeed. Keep up, White :p. Don't worry on the grammar part Beth, you're not alone on that. I can't count how many errors Sakura has found in stuff i've written in the past, heh. But we'll have plenty of time to look it over i'm sure before we post it up. Anyway, can't wait for the first debate to get started. ours and the current one (eh, so call me a sucker for contraversey ), and in case anyone else drew a different conclusion then intended on the language, I meant each team facing a different team each round as opposed to two teams going at it for three rounds. Sorry if there was a misunderstanding, as it would be downright silly to suggest anything other than a team vs team debate . Plus, i'm quite happy that abortion has been gotten out of the way already. Though either Beth or Mike would probably have an easier time debating one side or the other then myself, I typically find myself split on that matter.
25.
Maybe they could have a symbol, tattooed on their skin or otherwise. Some sort of alchemy glyph perhaps? Just throwing ideas out there.
