1. There are an imense number of recent RPGs with 40+ hours of gameplay. The longest RPG i've ever played (which is also my second favorite RPG of all time) is Xenogears (which isn't recent, but if you havent played it...i highly suggest it...above any other) it clocked in at about 85 hours for me (i also tend to do every little sidequest and make sure that i'm accomplished pretty much everything in the game before i beat it, so i don't know about anyone else's playing ethics) however one of the more recent PS2 RPGs that ive played that has come awfully close to the 80 hour mark was Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne. It isnt as recent as other games, and it did not come out this year, but it is a RPG of great calibur and offers a fresh sense of originality and is quite a challenging game. Other games clocking in at the between 40-60 hour mark worth playing: PS2: -Star Ocean: TTEOT -Shadow Hearts and Shadow Hearts Covenent (From the new world just barely hit the 40 hour mark for me, it's still worth playing but it pales in comparison to the previous two) -FFX - round 60 hours minus completeing the whole monster arena, 100% grid completion for every characters and blitzball tournaments for me. -Most games in the Suikoden series (i believe 3 was the shortest one...for me anyways) Other systems: If your into the whole MMO scene, guild wars or WOW are obviously the best choices out there nowadays. Oblivion offers a great single player experience with much of the same aspects and lasts longer than your normal full length console RPG. I haven't played a zelda game that took me longer than 40 hours, but all of em are still quite good. Theres a whole bunch more, i've named a few of the key players.
 2. This list probably would have been a lot shorter a few years ago...but i've been doing my best to find more reasons to appreciate being alive. So heres what I got:
My faith in god

Being able to express my imagination through writing

The hope that one day i will become succesful in my main goal

My best friend whom i love very much, and the feeling i get even still today when i hug her (no, were not going out though we used to)

Rainy days, i'm never happier then when it rains...i'll sit outside and read or just take a walk because it's raining.

Staying home and watching anime or playing a good RPG, i can lose myself for hours...possibly days.

Handball, to fullfill my neccesity for competition and because nothing else matters when i'm on the court...it's a vacation from reality.

Live baseball (Mets) games with friends and a good basket of chicken fingers and french fries

Being able to help my friends or other deserving individuals with their problems through sound and intellegent advice.

The hope that one day i will have a dog of my own...either a corgie (like Ein, hehe) or a golden retriever.

Quiznos turkey, ranch, and swiss sandwhiches.

The hope that one day i will be able to visit or even live in japan.
Eh, if i think of or accumulate more i will add them.
 3.
Well, the movie (the second one) is due out in theators in August '06, and I think that ends the series. It picks up where the anime left off, for those who saw episode 51.
They are coming out with a prequel movie to conqueror of shambala?
 4.
Wait what? Were you talking to Uchiha ninja girl or just uchiha girl? Anyway... Ya, I guess you're right, Itachi is WAY stronger than Sasuke. (no offense to the sasuke fans) How are you so sure that Itachi would not need to activate the sharingan?
Uh, uchiha girl i guess since that's you lol. Sorry your names are quite similar :animestun And i'm not entirely sure, but what leads me to believe that is for one Sasuke just charged in plainly with nothing but revenge on his mind w/o a means for tactical strike...it would be easy to deflect his arm with the right speed to do so. And as i said before Itachi just exceeds sasuke in every way which allows him that kind of speed and reflexes. It just seems unneccesary since the power dif is so great, and because Itachi thinks too low of sasuke to really go to that length.
 5.
Bah..... someone said it earlier, neither the sharingan or the byakugan can stop jutsu's. Now if you're saying that they can see through jutsu's. Ok, I'll by that. Now I don't have that much knowledge about Naruto, but if your eyes are sharp, wouldn't you be able to see through most things? You make it sound like people with just normal eyes can't be good enough to beat their opponent without the sharingan / byakugan.
It is very difficult, but not impossible. The byakugan and sharingan give extremely noticeable advantages to the user. Against normal opponents without any exceptional abilities of their own the sharingan can predict their movements and the user need not be hit a single time, and the byakugan can clearly see and sense attacks from all around the body and as far as 800 meters (in Neji's case) as well as pinpoint the part of the body instantly for deadlier attacks for quicker victories or possibly kills. This is undeniable as a significant advantage even against the strongest of opponents. Obviously each character (i assume the main characters we are taking into consideration while discussing this are sasuke and neji) have suffered defeats even with the usage of their dojutsus (it can also be argued that hiashi and itachi have never been shown being defeated but each only receive so much air time that reading between the lines is neccesary to make an assumption that sometime during their lives they must have been defeated). However it is due to the fact that the characters defeating them either contained unnatural powers surpassing the need for a defense against the eye or already had an unfair advantage. Lets put it this way, if i had to choose a clan to put my money on in any normal situation involving protecting, assassination, or to win in a tournament...it would be a skilled ninja from the Hyuga or Uchiha clan, with few exceptions outside of both. ^also uchiha ninjagirl, Itachi
stopping Sasuke's chidori
i think it just a result of the imense difference in power and skill between the two brothers, rather than a feat of the sharingan. I'm confident Itachi wouldn't have needed to activate his eyes to have done it.
 6. You seem to be much into the whole neo-present or futuristic action style ones. With that in mind as well as animes that contain some similar themes as the ones you've seen i suggest: Trigun - Great action and comedy mixed, good if you like gunplay style action. Great characters too if you look deep enough into them Cowboy Bebop - Space travel, different planets, bounty hunters...i think it speaks for itself. Vandread - More space themes with men and women seperated on different planets. An interesting watch if nothing else. Gundam Seed - Different from Gwing, but it has many same principles.
 7. I don't believe it is ever revealed by anyone else. Scar's sees no purpose in his real name and dosen't reveal it himself. Deep story idea, or writers block? The world may never know,.
 8. One thing amongst all anime characters (a good majority of them) that make them my favorites is how able and strong they are based on their own strength. I am all for being able to rely and even enhance your own abilities without the need for help from anything outside or unnatural (i.e vegeta becoming majin vegeta or naruto using the kyuubi). Most of my favorite characters are intellegent, mentally strong, and reliant on their own resolve and abilities. Placing together an ideal mix for myself taking my favorite power/personality/attribute etc etc i would be a tactical and logical intellectual, when dealing with my enemies or competition perhaps boastful about it and mixing confidence with arrogance, with others and those dear to me I would be helpful as a willing bestower of knowledge where it applies as well as protective. When it comes to powers, as i said i prefer those who rely on their own ability whether it be Ed's natural alchemy abilities that make him a prodigy, rock lee's incredible hand to hand fighting technique and prowess, or kenshin or jin (from samurai champloo) incredible swordsmanship ability. When it comes to extraordinary or supernatural powers i prefer anything that is mind related to inflict torture on a person's mental state or usage of psychological domination (i.e mangekyou sharingan, Legato bluesummer's power, etc)
 9. Personality wise most definetly Shikamaru from Naruto. My greatest ability is my intellegence and how to apply it to many situations, though i can be quite lazy when it comes things i feel aren't worth my time. I'm not much for gazing at the clouds or proclaiming everything as troublesome (though i find myself saying that a lot more often) and in contrast to his character i embrace my intellegence a bit more and am not modest about it. My outwardly expressed attitude is probably more like Neji (minus the whole destiny is unchangeable ordeal) or Greed from FMA (minus the whole i want everything ordeal). Looks wise...i dunno. I'm probably not the best person to determine, but a few of my friends have said that i look like a mix between Tenchi and Sasuke (if my hair were longer anyway)...though i disagree somewhat i can't do a better job of pinpointing a resembling appearence so *shrug*. I find it especially weird since i have facial hair.
 10. America...would you believe i actually spent a few seconds on that one, lol. yamof het rersiulq Hint: Hyperactive internet toon character.
 11.
I've seen all the Tenchi Series. There replayed it a lot in the USA but after they took it off the air. I was greatly upset because I had grown to love the show. The fact that a guy living in a house with 6 (correct me if I'm wrong) females all that have some sort of emotions for him really made me laugh until my pants were soaked. (Not really.) I thought the plot was good on how they all made it to his home. I'm upset that I haven't seen the movie though. Considering I don't have any money and can't get the box set, I won't be able to see any more of Tenchi and the group. :animecry: [/COLOR']
If you could only choose one movie to see, i would reccomend the first movie that focuses on Tenchi's parents. It was definitly the best of the 3, though all of them are quite good.
 12. Hm, all this time i wasen't aware of this thread here. Tenchi def has a special place in my heart, it is great for comedy and always puts a smile on my face. It's just one of those animes that i'm can always be in the mood to watch. My friend whom i tried to get into anime lately has gotten very interested in Tenchi (as well as Naruto, these would be her 2 current favorites) and while watching the box sets with her they also began to captivate some of my other friends. This shows how much tenchi can appeal to people with just bits and pieces of the series. There are loveable characters (i personally like Ryoko, Kiyone, and Washuu), and the music can get quite catchy.
 13.
I'm pretty sure that it's accepted that the Byakugan is an evolved form of Sharingan OR that the Sharingan is some sort of hybrid of the Byakugan so the Byakugan is supposed to be... better. I guess. *cough* Weakness wise, Byakugan has only one. And on top of that, the Hakkesho Kaiten is a sure way to cover that blind spot. Sharingan's weaknesses are 1) more strain on chakra and stamina, 2) cannot duplicate taijutsu moves 3)
...can leave you almost blind like a certain someone.
4) Occurs naturally in only some of the Uchiha family members, and you're not born with it. Also,
killing your best friend to get the Mangekyou Sharingan is possible the lamest thing I've ever heard. Seriously, what? How is this physically plausible?
Strength wise, I say being able to block all chakra flow in a ninja is much, much, much more useful than copying moves. Actually, being able to block all chakra flow in a ninja pretty much owns most attacks. I'm wondering why Neji never beat the hell out of Sasuke. >_> Byakugan > Sharingan. Though I love all of the bloodline limit guys. ... Except for Kaguya.
Hm, i actually think the kaguya blood limit is pretty cool. It's definitly the most different one out of all of them, and Kinimaro really rocks the abilities nicely. If you ask me, demonic ice mirrors was rather lacking in what that kind of capability should allow the user to do despite its cool appearence. But then again, if given more time or if more users of Haku's clan were shown using it i'm sure there are other abilities that we haven't seen. But that's not what this thread is about. In response to the weaknesses of both that a few people have touched upon in this thread, the sharingan definitly has more...whether your a fan of sharingan or byakugan you cannot contest this. Despite the sharingan having different forms that bestow different abilities where as any skill using the capabilities of byakugan must be learned using a single form, the forms fail to make up for any weaknesses in the previous forms and i do agree with the requirement to achieve the
Mangekyou Sharingan
is rather unimpressive. The central idea of my preference of the byakugan (as mentioned in my last post, but here in more detail) revolves around the fact that it works better independantly to emphasize the abilities of the user where as sharingan is dependant on the opponent to make use of any abilities it bestows, whether it be copying or forseeing. Though on the matter of what kind of abilities each one bestows, i still prefer the byakugan.
 14. Being an actual intellectual myself, this is actually one of my biggest pet peeves if the person fits the strict description. I hate people who believe they are full of useful knowledge, yet the most useful knowledge they have is stuff you learn in the first grade or they just emulate an alternate source such as others whom teach them or as the topic creator used as an example "watch the discovery channel" and repeat what they hear. Pretty much anyone who is trying to convey a false image of themselves through psuedointellegence is insulting. Now here is the difference, before people here begin to take offense. The biggest problem with this is not the fact that they actually know little or only know the exact words of another...it's the refusal to acknowledge that this is who they are. Anyone who says "I am a pseudointellectual" or dosen't go around claiming they are the smartest person in the world i have no problem with, because self-awareness is one of the most important things in the world to us humans. Knowing who you are is already winning half the battle. Those who take pride in using a facade to delude others as well as themselves are of the weakest form of mental stability. Simply put in one word, it's synonomous with ignorance. However, it is only pseudointellectualism IF you fail to realize the meaning of what your learning through these sources and simply repeat what you hear word for word consistantly. Getting an increased vocabulary is something acquired through television, books, school, any source you can find if you pay attention. This is the best way of increasing your knowledge, by experiencing for yourself regardless of the source. As i mentioned above, it is when you use the exact words and exact sentences constantly and yet do not actually know the meaning of what your saying that is what would be considered pseudointellectualism. Independent studying is an umbrella term for all of these methods, people must acquire their knowledge to be intellegent, and it is done in the same way people who may not be particularly intellegent do. The tools and resources are out there for us to use, understanding them and what you acquire makes you intellegent or not. Not the usage of the sources.
 15. To me the PS2 games are def better then the GC games. If it weren't for the fact that NH3's RPG and story modes are in japanese i'd like to get the import since it has the same gameplay engine as the UN game and pretty much all the characters revealed in the anime. Not to mention 95% of naruto sounds better in japanese than english. So i suppose i'll be getting UN when it comes out since it pretty much has most of my fave characters minus temari and itachi...too bad bout the limited moves though.
 16.
^ I am well aware of Scar's intention about that incident. With that being said, I still don't have to like it. ^^ Speaking of all that and such. Just to clear things up for anyone else who feel the need to explain things to me. (Please don't take that as me being stubborn or anything.) I understand the concept of Fullmetal Alchemist very well, let alone most of the characters intentions as most if not all are explained in the series. But when I say I don't like seeing animals being killed, slaughtered and whatnot. I mean it, literally. I like animals over people in general. (Sad, but true)
Haha, i agree completely. Animals are acted harshly against very often indiscriminately where as humans most of the time deserve to be treated in negative ways. I don't believe it's sad at all, it's just a degree of clarity. Humanity as a whole is worthless and cruel, however the individual is full of endless potential. But as for the act of mercy, assuming the feeling of
being transformed into a chimera of nina's nature is unbearable and the equivalent to living on life support
then i believe without the option of a safe reversal of the procedure death is probably the best choice in the long run. Both from her POV as well as Scar's. Of course the act is curel and harsh, but it is in a sense doing something wrong to achieve what is right. Ed said it himself he knows quite a bit about bending the rules to do something right. It just isn't easy for everyone to come to accept because of the initial reaction to something like animal slaughter will always be negative because the reason regardless of what it is, is shrouded in the more apparent act of what has come to be morally and socially accepted as wrong and criminal.
 17. Byakugan is definitly better. Having absolute (minus the miniscule blind spot of course) vision as well as multi distance vision is extremely helpful especially combined with the ability to see within the opponent and the deadly taijutsu style of fighting and the kaiten absolute defense to cover the blind spot. It's like an all knowing human fort. Sharingan's only advantage is the ability to see through jutsus and make them either useless or less usefull as well as acquiring them. Other than that it offers no real combat support compared to the amount that byakugan entails. Byakugan allows for the natural talent of the user to flourish where as sharingan more often must rely on the opponent's action. Byakugan is a more self-sufficient ability. Of course this is also assuming we're talking about the mature byakugan vs the mature sharingan which does not include Itachi's unique tsukiyomi skill. Clearly itachi's sharingan has a distinct advantage over the normal mature sharingan. But i'd still prefer the byakugan in the long run.
 18. Hm, i thought for sure this would have been moved by now. Guess i'll toss a few in myself whether it is or isn't. Things characters wouldn't say: Naruto: Hokage? Who the hell wants to be hokage, i'd rather be in sasuke's shadow! Chouji: YUCK! roasted pork! Hurry up and get me some tofu! Jiraiya: Aww...do we HAVE to go to the co-ed hot springs today? Lee: This curry is too spicy!!!! Tsunade: Shizune! Give the order to close down every casino and sake house in konoha. Shikamaru: Can i come on the super dangerous week long mission to the country with no clouds? Kakashi: Hey Gai, where can i get one of those smooth looking green outfits you and lee wear? Things characters wouldn't do: Sakura won't mature and realize that her futile obsession with sasuke is causing unhealthy detriment to her mental well being. Chouji won't offer anybody his last potato chip. Neji won't walk up to Hinata and give her a great big hug and tell her what a great relative she is. Hinata will never ask Naruto out face to face.
 19. Myspace sexgroane Hint - Underappreciated PS1 RPG.
 20. Any LOZ, any early RPGs for the nintendo systems (lufia, earthbound, SMRPG, the early FFs, C. trigger), some old genesis favorites like Vector Man, mutant league football, maximum carnage (wonder who remembers any of those, hehe). It's unfortunate but i no longer have a working NES but a good portion of my most favorite old school games were for that system. Games like Star Tropics, guerilla war, metal storm, bionic commando, gauntlet, the early megamans etc etc. Those were the good ol days, but i can't exactly say that i don't appreciate today's gaming either. Maybe the consistency in quality has gone down, but not the quality so much itself.
 21. I have way too many favorite AMVs to name, though i am dissapointed in a lot of the qualities of most FMA vids. I've found mostly great naruto, inuyasha, and kenshin AMVs out of all of em. One that deserves an honorable mention though is a vid on youtube dedicated to shikamaru. It pretty much pokes fun at his constant matching up with female opponents throughout the series set to the song "Shes a lady". It's halarious if your a shikamaru fan.
 22.
I thought Naruto's name meant noodle, while uzumaki meant spiral? :animestun I know iruka means dolphin, kakashi means scarecrow. kyuubi no kitsune is nine-tailed fox, so if my knowledge is right, ichiubi no inu would be one-tailed dog right? I've really just learned things like titles, and expressions from watching anime. I also have a much better accent now :animesmil
Probably the closes to it. And uzumaki does mean spiral, naruto however is specifically a type of fishcake though it may have a dual meaning. Some of the more funnier translations are Neji means screw, Ibiki means snoring, and Uchiha actually means fan (itachi i think is weasel or ferret or something like that).
 23. I was going over a few things earlier today, and as i was repeating to one of my friends something from Naruto i realized that there were a lot of things that i learned about certain topics from animes. So i figured i'd create a topic for everyone to discuss what they have learned from certain animes. Myself, i've learned from Naruto many different types of japanese foods. I already knew what ramen was but i learned about different kinds, and most recently in naruto episode 185 (i do not believe this to really be a spoiler since it has no relavence to anything in the story but if it is perceived as one, a mod may add in the spoiler tag) i found out that the word Naruto in japanese is actually a type of fishcake. And since naruto is probably currently the most popular series that has not yet been translated fully to english, i've learned a great deal of the japanese language due to the combination of the subtitles and japanese audio. I have a pre-existing knowledge of some japanese terms from personal interest in the past, but when you watch as consistantly as i do you really pick up a lot more. From Fullmetal Alchemist, not only did it make me appreciate chemistry more (i wasn't much and still aren't much of a science fan, i'm more of the writing and psychology type) but one thing i specifically learned which i thought was pretty interesting to know was the actual element composition of the human adult body (35 liters of water, 25 kilograms of carbon, 4 liters of ammonia, 1.5 kilograms of lime, 800 grams of phosphorous, 250 grams of salt, 100 grams of saltpeter, 80 grams of sulphur, 75 grams of fluorine, 5 grams of iron, 3 grams of silicon, and a little bit of 15 other elements i believe.) And while i have heard the term before i saw Rurouni Kenshin, it wasen't until i first started watching where i knew exactly what made a reverse blade sword what it was. I figured pretty much, but it was more like confirmation. Thats it off the top of my head...i'll add some more if i remember or learn anything new.
 24. My dream job is definintly writer and director for my own material. I want to be able to write storylines, scripts, etc etc and be able to bring them to life. My creativeness and intellegence can be best displayed through these methods, and i would enjoy this the most regardless of whether or not it would be financially sufficient (which i'm sure if i ever achieve this, it would be). If i knew how to draw, i would probably be set for life because then i could provide everything needed for myself, and might even go on to write up some mangas of my own, since a good portion of my story ideas are based on those concepts.
 25. I don't like the series near enough to argue as much about it or for it as certain members here have, but i will mention the dispute about boss battles. The final battle in RE4 was indeed one of the easiest boss battles i've ever fought in that style of game. The hardest one IMO was krauser and it was fun as well so i enjoyed it a lot. Even salazar was suprisingly easy. In terms of how challenging the game was, i believe despite the easy boss battles it presented a good amount of challenge and difficulty because in a lot of parts it was difficult to think about what was going to happen next, and then when you go through it again you know what to expect, though sometimes the button combination for dodging certain things change up. I remember the first time i did the
knife fight with krauser, i didn't expect as many button combos as there were...
that's just one example.
