No, I am afraid it is you withe flawed logic, sir. Called shot was a good skill, yes. But it was not the only skill that was needed. I absolutely had to use VATS to beat the game. I have no problem with it being first person. I'm not so ignorant that I would call Fallout bad just because it went from isometric to first/third person. And the biggest difference between Icewind Dale and Fallout is that Icewind Dale is what I'd classify as a team based RPG. The story and pathway was very linear, but the way you built your "party" and customized it, as well as used your characters many skills to beat the enemies. Sort of like Ghost Recon, now that I think about it. Fallout is, in many ways, a single character experience. Yes, there are a few characters that would join you for a period of time, but the meat of the game was about YOU. And so what if I don't agree with the general consensus of the community? If I think Fallout 3 is a stinking pile of turd, I have just as much a right to say it as you do of your praise for the game.

I have to disagree. You think that Oblivion wouldn't of have existed without Final Fantasy 7. Final Fantasy 7 is a JRPG. Oblivion is a WRPG - or, at least that is what it claims. The very first game in the Elder Scrolls series, Arena, was released in 1994, 3 years before Final Fantasy 7 finally hit stateside. CRPGs would still be alive today, even if Final Fantasy 7 never came. Reason? Most CRPG fans hate JRPGs. They are a direct contradiction everything they love about CRPGs. Let me give some examples: 1] CRPGs, more cases than not, give you the chance to create your own main character. There are usually different races, character portraits, and classes to choose from. JRPGs, on the other hand, the furthest they will ever go in terms of customization is the main character's name. Again, this is just generalities. There are exceptions in both - Planescape: Torment went the JRPG route, and had your main character already create, and there is surely a JRPG out there that allows you to make your own main character. The thing that should be noted was that the developers of Planescape: Torment were trying to make an videogame novel. There is little indication of that in JRPGs. 2] In CRPGs, you will affect the way your character advances. For example, you can multicalss (Fighter/Mage, for example), invest points in stats, etc. The character trully becomes your own. JRPGs rarely give you that option. The character evolves as the developers had decided. The latest Final Fantasies had changed this... to an extent. In Final Fantasy 10, you were limited to a advancement sphere. An interesting concept, but you were still limited in the way the characters could evolve, albeit with different paths. Final Fantasy 12 went the CRPG route. Your characters could become anything. There was nothing keeping Vaan from being a mage. But the ridiculous grind made character advancement very slow. 3] Roleplaying. In CRPGs, roleplaying is key. The story really drives the game, and you are to act out your character to the greatest extent the writers have given you. Want to be an *******? Do so. Want to be the good guy? You are more than welcomed to. The story may be set, but your character, background aside, is not. How he acts is up to you. You don't do that in JRPGs. You are an actor, reading from a script. You are told to do something, you have to do it. Why would they want to play something they hate? JRPGs had little influence on CRPGs. The point of the matter is, I am comparing Fallout to the standards of the JRPG genre. I am comparing it to the CRPG genre. The dialogue is shoddy, the story is atrocious - if you want, I'll link you videos of the 4 endings. There is no 200 endings in the game. Just 4 endings with various different screen shots. There is no choice and consequence. The humor doesn't carry the wit the old game had. The game doesn't have the moral ambiguity of the past titles. The combat is dull. You are FORCED to use the VATS system, and VATS is pretty much cheating. Why should it take me 7 shots to kill a dog, when I can otherwise use VATS to kill it in 3? And the slowmo got really old really fast. It did it after every shot. Not to mention I actually broke the main quest a few times. I had to reload a save game several hours back in order to actually finish the game. Why should I be restricted to not being an enemy of the Brotherhood of Steel? Why do I have to be their friend? And look at this screen, and tell me with a straight face, that Fallout 3 is a good game.
Well you're assuming he doesn't already have those, also you're assuming that he cares that it doesn't fall in line with the others. Final Fantasy VII introduced new features into the world of Final Fantasy that was against the norm, but people went nuts over it. Just cause a game strays from the others a bit doesn't mean that its bad, but we're all entitled to our own opinions even if the rest of us don't agree with you.
There's a huge difference. Final Fantasy stayed true to the general philosophy of the Final Fantasy series. Beyond the name, you could tell it was a Final Fantasy game. It was a true sequel. It was also one of the worst, and most overrated games ever made. More on that when I feel like it. Fallout 3? It's a sequel in name only. It does not carry the game design philosophies that Fallout 1 and 2 possessed. If you removed the Fallout name, Fallout 3 could have easily been any other post apocalyptic game. But it's not. It doesn't even try to be Fallout. It's just an over glorified mod of Oblivion, a game that offers no real sense of roleplaying at all. Essentially, Fallout 3 fails as an RPG. It barely succeeds as a shooter. It's a horrible game, and the only reason it has so much acclaim is because it is overly hyped, and Beth. has bribed the media to give it such acclaim.
Strange, I think this is the only negative comment I have read for Fallout 3, everyone else seems to be going nuts over it. I'll pick up my copy later today during my lunch break, I'm not sure whether to get the 360 version or the PS3 version though, from online screen comparisons it seems to look better on 360, it actually looks best on PC but my PC isn't quite monstrous enough
You have never gone to the Codex then. Or Iron Tower for that matter. Save your money. Just go and buy Fallout 1 and 2. Those are the TRUE treasures.

I need to say it, but it has to be said. This game is not Fallout. It is just a shooter trying to be an rpg. Just because it has the title Fallout in it does not make it one. No choices and consequences? Poorly written dialogue? Slowmo for every shot with the VATS? Everything being solved with only violence? This is not Fallout. This is just Oblivion with Guns - and that is the highest criticism I can give to any game. This game is horrible. Just, bad. Really, really, bad. Lrb, go to Gog.com and go buy Fallout 1 and 2 for $12. A much better purchase than the $60 you would spend on this pretty piece of trash. And before I go: For the Codex!
Trust me, I was shocked, too, but it really is boring. No bones about it. The characters are mostly boring, and the action is nowhere near exciting enough to make up for that. Terribly disappointing show.
Well, maybe it's one of those shows that are slow to start. You know, like Blassreiter?
-
Also, in probably the most disappointing move of the season so far, I dropped Yozakura Quartet after three episodes. You wouldn't think a series about superheroes could be so dull, but you would be wrong. I just cannot get into anything with that series -- it sucks, because I looked forward to seeing it so much.
I can't believe this. A superhero anime...dull?! This beyond my comprehension as a Comic Book Geek.

It was bland in the presentation, I suppose. A kid who is obsessed with games and anime, has delusions, sees a gruesome murder, and now he starts to see even weirder things. What a great concept! But, the way it was executed, was just a big bore. I was just very bored throughout the entire episode. I was putting my pointer over the bar, just to see how much longer it was. I decided just to X it, at 20:00. I was just bored. That's never a good sign. There were some chuckles, to be sure, but the rest just never kept my interest.

I've just watched Chaps;Head. I don't think I'm going to like it too much. Just a very bland first episode.

Manga Naruto Manga [Warning: Spoilers]
Gundam 00 Second Season
I have already started to watch this. Unless they botch it like Code Geass R2, then this will be a welcome change from Gundam SEED.
Hyakko
I usually watch dramas, and since CLANNAD is the only comedy I watch, I need to add another to the list. This looks promising.
Ga-rei-zero
So a boy who can see ghosts teams up with a female agent of an anti-supernatural regiment. I sense romance along with some messed up situations. I am moderately excited about this. I had been telling my friend for years now that the FMA Manga needed to be Anime-ized. So, I am quite eagerly looking forward to it. I might even download the episodes, if the subbers are slow enough about it. But does anyone have an estimate on the release date? Or is it still a year or so off?
-
I have one question on it - how is its length? I would not mind at all jumping into another FPS, but I would want it to be a reasonably long one. Sure, something as long as Half-Life would be great, but FPS that long are a rarity. Is there anything else you can tell us about it? I have heard very little about it - in fact, all I know is that there is a comic, and its developed by EA.
Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. 1930s idea of the future should stay back in it's own decade.
What are you crazy? This is a personal favorite in my book. It had so much class and style, and the plot fell right in with the '30s space age. The soundtrack was pure gold.
I Am Legend.I know there are people who will disagree with this, but really and truly it not only stole 100 minutes of my life with a sub-standard, suck-*** horror movie that seems to have been created to simply showcase that Will Smith can indeed do a one-person film, but the whole idea of the science behind the movie made anyone with any grasp of biology want to stand up and yell "WTF ?!".
It's not one of my personal favorites - the short novel is much better - but the movie is still very well made. And besides, it was fiction. It doesn't have to make sense, if in the end the story itself was told well.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
But hey, it helps gays and lesbians, because now they can have children with their partners without having to seek out someone from the opposite sex to be the biological parent. (of course, men would still need a surrogate mother) If that's the case (and there aren't any horrible side effects to either the child or the mother) then I don't see a problem with it. It just sounds strange to think that science has come so far... It reminds of some strange sci-fi novel.
You know, it is weird. Before you know it, we will be reaching the point where we pretty much live in Blade Runner.

He stood in the night, the dust illuminated streetlights revealing a shadow of his appearance. He was dressed in a long detective coat, the navy blue adapting very well to the dark scene of the city streets. In the dark streets of Dis, a large gallery of characters walked. People modified to become animals, punk teenagers with half of their hair dyed colors none should ever boast. People were dressed in clown costumes, women baring their breasts. To be considered normal and to walk the streets this late into the night was an impossibility. Only the insane and the foolish were here. Few gave head to the man with no face. He called himself the Query. Anyone in the police would give up their mothers just to know he was here. Good things these assorted individuals didn?t give a damn about anyone, including the cops. He moved through the streets, his shoulders nudging away those that got in his way. He made his way towards the Big Rick Bar, an establishment as fine as the gruel found at the bottom of their jugs. It was a place where the lowlifes of Dis drank away their woes, wooed their women, and made use of their finer packages. The voices were so loud they were booming past the brick walls. It was a great place for information. You just had to know how to make the right nudge. He entered the bar, pushing the door open. The heads turned towards the faceless man, and the voices choked to a whisper. The patrons were slowly having the time of their lives until The Query stepped in. Now, they were having their shallow experiences of hell, as they waited for him to choose his next scapegoat in order to extract information. The Query made his way to the bar counter, passing by the fearful expressions. Some brave fool muttered dirtbag, but he was quickly silenced by his co-patrons. A punch in the head would do that to anyone. Behind the counter stood Merry Jerry. He was a big man, with a shaved head and a beard that had outgrown its usefulness. His usually dark skin had converted to pail hue. Sweat dripped all over his face, and his lips stretched into a fake grin. ?Hello Merry Jerry.? ?Hey there Query,? his voice cracked. ?How are you?? He was on the burst of tears now. ?Oh, for the love of God, don?t kill anybody. Please! Last time, I almost went out of business.? He was barely audible now. ?God, please...? The Query turned to the crowd, all of them breathless in anticipation. He passed by their rounded tables, most of them being properly balanced by a cement block or an old, dusty book. He turned his faceless look towards each of them, examining them. Which would break first? Last? None had ever resisted his touch. His record was a minute. His longest was a week. But none could escape his fingers. He knew how to make the pigs squeal. After all, he was the Query. He had questions, and these scum had answers. True, some of the answers were convoluted, but at worst they were hints. The best of them you just had to put in common sense, and all of the pieces would fall into place. He laid eyes on a man with a face similar to a cardboard box ? large, angular, useful on the outside, but once you started at him, he was just a worm. If anything, he was just a useless man. He did not have the answers. He passed by two tables, and stared at a man, thin and pale. Likely a drug dealer. His red hair was greasy, and he had tunnels under his eyes. His face was long, and angular. The Query approached him. His lips, once straight, were now dipped. They were shivering. His gloved hands grabbed his collar and pulled him out of his seat. No one said anything. They stared at his face. They didn?t do a thing but stare. With his free hand he pulled out a kitchen knife. ?With this knife, I am going to slowly carve into this fine man?s face. It will be painful. Yesterday, a clown was found dead. He was dressed in his clown suit. He was found in the sewers. Semen was found in his butt hole. I want to know who did this? The room remained silent. ?No one? Very well.? He brought the knife to the man?s face, and dipped it just a bit. The edge cut into the man?s face, more paper cut than a wound. He was whimpering like a girl. He squirmed, kicking at tables and moving his body. He just pinned him to a table. Glass shattered under his weight. The knife went in deeper this time, but it was nowhere close to touching bone. It still hurt like hell. The man was screaming bloody murder. The Query silenced him with a glove to the throat. The knife was going deeper this time. The man?s eyes went wide with pain. They were begging for mercy. The room remained silent. The knife went deeper. The pale men kicked and squirmed, despite his Adam?s apple being pushed ever deeper into his throat. A leg broke, and the table fell to the ground. The Query pinned his knee on the man?s gut, and got back to work. ?It was Mercis Harim!? A man, built like a bear, stood up. He was paler than a ghost. He was shivering. The Query stood up. He slipped his bloody knife into his coat. He straightened it. ?Thank you.? He stepped over the shaking man. He quietly pushed the door ajar, and left the room as quiet as he came.
-
Guys, I would like to apologize for being non-existent here. I had just re-jumped on the WoW bandwagon, and with me RPing a Norse inspired character, I was just far too drained to do much writing. But, I promise you, you can expect The Query's debut by the end of the day, if not the hour.

Sara, thanks for posting that link. I wasn't aware you could watch it online minus iTunes. I loved it the entire show. Bad Horse's vocals was the best part, I think. Although, Captain Hammer's hammer being his penis was pretty close too. Overall, a great...whatever it shall be defined as.
