1.
Here's the catch. You can't make friends if you can't communicate efficiently. You can't make friends if you don't know who you're playing against. You can't make friends if you can't even contact the other players in a meaningful, substantial way. When there's solid communication, you make friends. Without effective avenues of communication, however, that list is as dead as Notepad. It isn't a friends list at all, because you aren't making friends, due to that lack of communication.
I use notepad... Yeah, there is a bit of a problem with this, but I always thought of Melee as a game you want to play with people you know already, just an "It's Saturday night! Let's go play Melee!" Type of thing. Mind, I've never been hardcore at Smash, I always get my butt handed to me (one of 3 games my friends can beat me at.)
 2. ^Winnar. RPG mentality. I can go down the entire list.
 3.
2 - Do you think it is appropriate for religious leaders to urge people to vote for or against a political candidate, or is that not appropriate? Now this is easier. It's one thing to know what a candidates view is but for religious leaders to try and make sure someone isn't voted for because they don't agree with their views? I really disagree with that. The LDS church where I live is guilty of this sort of thing on a regular basis and on some level I find it offensive. People need to decide for themselves who they vote for instead of following the recommendation of their church leaders.
The thing is, to a certain extent, it makes sense to promote a candidate based on your beliefs. Think about it: If your pastor finds out that there is a candidate who promotes something you don't believe in (ex. abortion [don't flame me,]) it stands to reason he's gonna bring it up next service. If a candidate doesn't share your beliefs, odds are s/he's gonna make some decisions your morals don't like. After all, isn't voting for someone dependent on your beliefs anyway?
 4. Raving fandom aside, this thread is dying faster than anticipated. Oh, well. I tried. Maybe I should stop MMOing all the time.
 5. Okay, I am majorly bumping this thread. This is a problem. The FUNi dub released 2 days ago. WHY IS THERE NO DISCUSSION?! *Ahem* I missed the premiere, unfortunately. Sojiro47 had no videotape and I have local TV only. Anyone have links to the opening? Choice voice samples? (A whole episode?) Maybe I'll youtube it when I get home, but I'll be severely dissappointed if this continues to be unposted in. There is discussion to be had here, people! Edit: Okay, You're all grounded. Now excuse me while I listen to the opening for the umpteenth time.
 6. Gah, how I pine for humanity. I really don't think ANYone in the room was justified to do ANYthing done there. It's embarrassing to everyone involved. I think it basically boils down to another simple equation of mine. People=Stupidity Seriously. I'm no exception either. I've done more than my share of stupid and rude things (three years in a row. It's what some would call "middle school.") The only way to fix it... welll, there is no way to fix it, because people are predetermined not to get along. 'Cuz they're stupid. It's why we have wars, barfights, Nazis, the KKK, you get the idea, but my point is that everyone was out of line there and really should have shown more control over themselves, host and guest alike. It's just sad. If ya wanna hate a dictator, don't bring him here so he can hear you. You're a human, too, which means you're just as stupid as he is (perhaps more if you invite him into your home exclusively to diss him. He's a DICTATOR for pete's sake! Countries tend to own heavier artillery than Universities.)
 7.
You guys want unfair AI? Try any SNK final Boss. It's something that us gamers like to call "SNK boss syndrome" A few examples that come to mind are KoF 2000 through 2002 and the recent NeoWave. The other enemies in the game? Easy as pie to beat, even on the harder difficulties. The Bosses? GODLY guru's who will counter your every strategem and kill you without batting an eyelash. Other games that come to mind when I think about SNK boss syndrome are BioLizard from Sonic Adventure 2 (that camera was haneous, it kicked my *** every time), the boss from DOA 4 (behind the back throw for more than 50% damage my ***) and Ruby Weapon from FF7 (which is the only boss I ever had to resort to strategy guides for)
Wait, do you mean Biolizard or Finalhazard? Either one is a pain, but Finalhazard has that thing with the random unpredictable moving laser that zapped me every time. Took me forever to realize you can switch characters by crossing the arena.
 8. You want cheating computers? One Piece: Grand Adventure has the cheapest AI in the history of ever. One of the more common complaints is Buggy's Bara Bara harpoon, but that can be fixed with a good crowding and punchfest. No, I'm referring to the final boss on Usopp's adventure mode: God Eneru. "KNOWYOURPLACEKNOWYOURPLACEKNOWYOURPLACE!!!!" You basically can't approach him while he's firing that giant lightning bolt from his hand. I don't really know how I finally killed the jerk, but suffice to say I hoped it hurt. I hate ANY kind of spam, but that's the worst. Hey, Bandai-Namco, Here's an idea: next time, give us a boss that doesn't murder us withing 5 seconds using the exact same move 10 times, how about one that's actually hard, instead of cheap?
 9. I already checked their site. I couldn't find anything of use. What I mean by the settings change is that sometimes (not always) I have to re-enter my WEP key in order to do anything in my other games after attempting to log in on Wild World. Yeah, I erased their data, but I've gone online with friend code data before, since I entered it all myself. I'm still set on it being the game's problem. I don't really want to start all over, but it looks like I'm going to have to anyway, so I might as well give it a shot. After checking my Email, of course.
 10.
Ya'll go to some weird schools. Every damn goth kid at my school wears anime shirys and stuff. And we make up a good 7-8th of the school population. The girls are far more flambouyant about it than the guys.
Goths enjoy being hated. They basically design themselves to be offensive to others, because they love the attention.
 11.
XD. Yeah, well, I guess I'm just asking for that if I use that terminology >_< But hey, I'm sure there are some Otaku there that would say its a pretty difficult endeavor to admit they're an anime fan to friends/family who think of it in a negative way. So in that way its almost like "coming out of the closet"..........why do I get the feeling I'm going to regret saying that....
Because I exist. Actually, you're probably right. Both of my sisters have an inherent dislike of Anime in general. They don't really care that I watch it, and I can understand where they're coming from. Try explaining to a non-otaku the basic premise of Fullmetal Alchemist. We don't think that much of it, but most of this stuff is just weird. In other news: Son: "Hey, dad? I have a confession to make." Father: "What is it, son?" Son: "I like Anime." Mother: "WHERE did we go WRONG?!?!??!" Father: "Consider yourself disowned, stranger."
 12. Fine, have it your way.
 13.
I'd really need more specifics before I'd be able to help. . . . Have you ever been able to connect to the internet with your copy of ACWW before? Does it give you an error code or anything when it fails to connect? If so, what is it? Do you know if it can connect from other places besides your home network? And finally, what are you trying to do in the game when you attempt to connect to the internet?
1: I used to be able to connect elsewhere, but I haven't tried anywhere else since I got the modem. 2: Error code:51300 or "Unable to connect to an access point." 3: I'm not sure, but I know of a number of places where I can find out. 4: I'm either testing my connection or trying to leave town. I'm pretty sure the result will be the same if I try to open my gate. (oddly enough, I usually have to reconfigure my settings when I've attempted to connect in WW. Is it possible that the game reconfigures them incorrectly when I try?)
 14. You're incorrigible, you know that? Moving on... (yeah, it's been done before, but seriously, leave the poor guy alone.)
 15. Alright, I've run out of pictures (almost) Fear not, however. I have for you a link to the funniest video you shall ever see. Behold: CLICK! (Dear thread. I am keeping you alive for the sole purpose of my own amusement. You should probably find another lifeline.)
 16.
Lately I've been throwing around the term "public" and "private" Otaku, or "casual" and "excessive" Otaku to determine varying degrees of being a "fan" or whatever definition people want to use.
This sounds like some interesting terminology. It seems pretty accurate, but "public" and "private" almost make it sound like it's taboo to be an otaku (I know what you're gonna say, Konata. You really don't have to.) I just think it's kind of funny picturing "Private" otaku coming out of the closet.
 17. Whooo!! You, my friend, just opened up a whole new can o' worms. Now I'm gonna say they're the same thing and digitalboy's gonna come in and start arguing with me, since he's a purist otaku and all, and we'll get into this huge fight and we'll both get banned and it'll cause a board schism. (Nah, I'm just teasin' :D) I personally think that it all depends on how much they're into Anime and Manga. If it's just a casual hobby overrun by D&D, WoW, Magic, and whatever else normal nerds get into, they're a normal nerd. If the main hobby is Japanese children entertainment (That's what it is, but I love it anyway,) They're an Otaku. Basically, it goes into a simple mathematical formula: Otaku=Anime>Other nerd stuff Nerd=Anime
 18.
If she's using a dictionary to determine wether manga is popular or not, she need not be trusted O_o
True, but I was referring to her definition of "Popular."
 19. I would suggest looking up sales figures. I know that Wikipedia used to have something stating that one of the One Piece tankobons was Japan's #1 bestseller prior to Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (If this girl thinks Harry Potter isn't popular, she needs to burn her dictionary.)
 20.
Yeah, I'll be giving the motivational thread a shot. Also, I like your sign up because honestly, this thing doesn't have to be oh-so-serious politics. It's just a shame that more people don't "get it."
Yeah, it's a shame tis isn't catching on. I was kind of looking forward to ruling the world some good debates. I wonder if I can get Sojiro back for a bit...
 21.
I've always hated when people ask this question here cuz you always get some convoluted-*** 'it means your a nerd in your field' like Aceburner's. Luckily there hasn't been much of that yet.
You realize just for this I pulled your Hall of Fame nomination in favor of Naps the Cat. It's all about opinion, man.
 22.
No voice support: failure. No voice support for random matches: failure. No names shown for random matches: failure. No communication, period, for random matches: failure. Zero networking friends list ability: failure. Taunting assigned to D-pad: failure. Brawl online with above: utter failure. Nintendo should consider getting off their stupid "kid-safe" arses and get with the frigging online play program. Trash-talking is a fine art. Hitting up on the D-pad for a text message is not art.
If thiour biggest gripe about the game, you probably haven't noticed that the Ice Climbers are back. It's true, though, part of the fun of playing around the world is actually being able to communicate with people you don't know.
 23.
He also has an irrational fear of velociraptors... link.
Who wouldn't? Those things are way too smart for their own good. You know what I love about this thread? every time someone else posts, I get a chance to terrorize it with my bizarre sense of humor.
 24. Yeah, okay. I'm kinda into conspiracy theories. I was kinda joking around, although I DO find it interesting that bonesmen tend to hire other bonesmen more often than not. Anyway, Ikillion, pure genius. this is why memes should be born on Otakuboards, instead of 4chan.
 25.
Ba bop ba baa baaa, i'm lovin' it. =D
New rule: save your poster somewhere, like Photobucket or Flickr. Apparently BHL trashes them if you don't. On topic:
