1. I believe desertphoenix has officially won eternity. That photo cannot be topped with kitties playing pokemon, so I'm gonna hafta get serious. Yeah, I think I can do better than that, too.
 2.

Heh. Calvin and Hobbes for the Supawin. 13th: Who says there's a winner? I will this thread to live on! The views expressed may be a little slanted, though.
 3. Have I won the internet yet? 'Cuz there's more where that came from.
 4.
How would I go about adding a poll to this thread?
You might be able to by editing your first post, but it might be too late now. Mods, can we shed some light on the matter, please? If not, it's fine, it's just easier to have solid numbers handy when taking a survey.
 5. This thread is in need of a poll. Like nobody's frickin' business. Anyway, I am not very informed on the subject, but genocide is always justified in the eyes of the perpetrator. The Holocaust was Hitler's way of advancing humanity. The Darfur struggles are based primarily on survival. I'm not saying that Hitler was anything less than a monster for his actions, but if you consider the way he viewed the world around him, you may find yourself pitying him for his ignorance. Also, slavery was brought about by people wanting to better themselves. This, fo course, was brought about by worsening the condition of their fellow man, who were then considered sub-human. However, despite the atrocity of such actions, the culprits may also have been victims themselves. Therefore, I have no opinion of Christopher Columbus. I consider his actions miguided and foolish, but I did not know him personally, so I will make no further judgements.
 6. Joshdude just basically summed it up. I'll let it drop, since I don't even know why I picked it up in the first place. The Zelda shot might've riled me up a bit, but I'll take your path as well and just agree to disagree.
 7.
Whoa, slow down there GTA4, where you headed? Oh. To beat up Link and steal away that feeble and vulnerable Zelda, you say? Well, don't let me stop you! See you Quarter 1 of 2008!
Quite frankly, I'm surprised Des hasn't nailed you for that suckah. Allow me: http://flickr.com/photos/8595417@N08/1344318998/ "Gamecube 2.0?" Have you even PLAYED this thing? It's less like it's predecessor in every way than PS3 and Xbox360 combined. This is a worse argument than the "Gamecube is for 3-year-olds" crap I've had to deal with since 6th grade. Then again, I doubt this will ever get through to anti-fb's anyway, so I don't really know why I bother. Anyway, I want Brawl, along with Tales of Symphonia: Knight of Rattatosk, Tales of Innocence, Elite Beat Agents 2 (make it happen, Fils-Aime!), Final Fantasy IV DS and the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles sequels coming out. I'm a fan of all these series, so there's my motivation. I also would like Guitar Hero III. Mind, Only a couple of these are coming out any time soon.
 8.
Eh, I don't know, I can't really tell the difference as far as taste goes. I mean there really isn't much difference in the two other than the name. Of course, then again I am referring to Sam's Choice, so I'm not too sure about everything else. But hey, if you gotta choose between Sam's Choice and brand name, why go for the brand name when you can get the same taste for a cheaper price? Just a thought.
Ay-men, Brutha. There are exceptions, though. While I'll go buy a 12 pack from Safeway any day, You wouldn't catch me with an RC cola unless money or threats are involved. The most vulgar aftertaste EVER. I swear by it. Then again, I've been known to drink Ketchup packets for 5 bucks, so what do I know?
 9.
I used to be a major soft-drink addict, I think my record was once going through something like fourteen 390ml cans of Coke in one day, which is probably somewhere shy of five and a half litres of the stuff. Yeah, even I grimace thinking about it now.
For some reason, Gavin, I always thought of you as a cola person. Probably because Johnny Bravo reminds me of Franky from One Piece. Besides the fact that Johnny doesn't wear a speedo on a daily basis, that is. Anyway, I've never really cared about name or generic brand. I usually go with the cheaper option. Lemon-Lime calms my stomach no matter who made it. But, to each his own, I guess.
 10.
He didn't do the soundtrack for 12...and not sure about 11 but I never count that anyway.
Right, sorry about that. I've basically only played the ones before VII, so I wouldn't know. I hope to change this when I buy a PS2, though (The current game library of PS3 coupled with the price of the system and limited backwards compatibility make it unjustifiable for me to buy one. Nice going, Sony. "No Guitar Hero controller for you!")
 11.
Prem, I think you have a problem that goes far beyond soda O_o I hate Vault, but my bro swears by it. I'd rather commit seppuku than drink Diaet MD.
I've tried Diet Dew, it's similar in taste, but the aftertaste leaves much to be desired (i.e. a finger down your throat.) Anyway, I'm inclined to agree with Clurr. Cherry > ALL.
 12.
Nobuo Uematsu (the guy who did the music for FFX).
As well as... ALL the other FF's, he's only the series's composer is all!:animesmil I'll just put some GBA suggestions, since if you want a new system at some point, it's an affordable option. Dragon Ball Z: Legacy of Goku I &II/Buu's Fury: I don't like #1 much, but I was addicted to #2 for a while. Buu's Fury I have not played. Tales of Phantasia: Yes, ANOTHER one. Other than minor translation errors (the epic battle of "Kangaroo",) this is a fantastic piece of work and the only (legal) way to play a translated version of this game. Symphonia was created as a prequel to this , but stands on it's own quite nicely, too.
 13.

This is Hit-and-Miss for me. Mostly a nice art style, but Robin's nose was never meant for it.:smirk: I like typical art styles or slightly exaggerated ones, such as One Piece's normal style. I'm usually more for the story and not the art, but I despise Shin Chan. The humor of it kinda puts me off, too.
 14.
But other times it's having total control over anyone's car radio, the TV and sometimes the room temp at people's houses. And don't even get me started on my 'private life'
Again, Hey, Me too! Yeah, we all get that way sometimes. I don't have a Wii. I want to use my friend's. Sometimes I can be a bit forceful in the matter. I even sit my friends down and force them to play mulitplayer Tales of Symphonia with me. I wouldn't be worried. Thanks for clarifying the Cosmo thing, though, you don't seem like the type of person to concern yourself with that stuff.
 15.
I have to make this thread because I'm noticing more and more that I tend to be a bit bossy and something of a control freak when I can be. Well that, and there was a quiz in an old issue of Cosmo about if you're good girlfriend material and one of the questions was about control. Honestly, I don't think I'm that bad. I listen to what other people say, I take turns. I don't feel as though I hog an entire conversation- although the washer and dryer are another question. Yes, I'm high maintenence at times and sometimes I'm a bit of a well... it rhymes with witch, but only when I need to get my point across.
You're seriously not that bad, what you seem to describe here is human nature. I force my point when no one will listen, too. Perfectly normal. Or should I seek therapy? But... You're worried about what COSMO thinks?! This is a strange and foreign concept to me.
 16. Well, a quick search shows that in all of otaku history, there has never been a thread about Queen. Thanks to new innovation of me becoming more of a nutjob by the minute, that is no longer true. Welcome to the Queen Thread. Songs, band members, Freddie Mercury's personal life, feel free to discuss anything relating to the band. My personal favorite song by Queen is Bohemian Rhapsody (How many times have you heard that?) I just like the end where it gets all fast and totally random. How about you guys?
 17. I'm-a go out on a limb and say people probably want to know what consoles you have, as well, but I already have a basic idea from your thread about currently owned consoles. PS2: the only one you haven't mentioned that I can think of is: Tales of the Abyss See Dagger's banner above you? Ask her more about it. I have not played this game, but I have heard almost nothing but praise about it. And I'm addicted to one of its predecessors. The storyline makes you come, the linear motion battle system makes you stay. Other than that, all I can say is: Naruto: Clash of Ninja 2 (if you're into it, decent fighter,) Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles, Tales of Symphonia, Zelda: Twilight Princess/Windwaker (Shaddup, Cel-da haters.) For the love of PETE you need a Gamecube, man! Anime stylized games practically flock to this machine (Although Wii IS backwards compatible with it, so that will save you a fair bit of money on your next console purchase, practically buying 2 and all.) In general, if you can find anything with "Tales of" printed in the title, just buy it. With the possible exception of Legendia, which I have heard mediocre reviews about.
 18. The EBA thing was just my commentary on how a concept can surprise you with your sudden addiction to it. The DS is full of these (Brain Age comes to mind, I mean what poor soul who ever attended public school ever thought that learning could be fun?) The Picross idea is starting to grow on me, though. Besides, Best Buy is offering that free game rental thing, so I might give it a shot. I like puzzles. I like to draw. Why not?
 19.
I don't know. I think she was telling the truth. Besides, I think I'll put her story to the test. This November Chrispin Freeman and Vic are going to be at a con in Philadelphia. I'm going to ask Chrispin if he knows this girl. "KAMEHAMEHA!" Dragonmanm2
Did she give you a name? Besides Crispin's? 'Cuz you're following a dead trail if you ask him if he knows "some girl who also knows Scott McNeil."
 20.
Well, I would say that language makes up a small fraction of one's culture, but it does not specifically define it. Confining culture to a country's language is absurd; you wouldn't limit American culture to candy bars and Dairy Queen (although, admittedly, that's basically all we have to our name -- we never really thought of anything else original). Language was just a means of communication when it was first developed; we all spoke the same language until the Tower of Babel was attempted. Then God broke up our languages and scattered them across the earth so that we could not understand one another. So, essentially, language was a part of the different cultures on Earth. However, it would be a shame to define one's culture with language, because so many cultures do share the same language. Thus, culture has not emerged from language, but rather, with it.
I resent that! You didn't mention Arby's! Anyway, funny story about the Tower of Babel. The idea was that if we don't all communicate he same, we won't be able to band together and decide we don't need God anymore. Of course, God realized that he created us smart enough to decipher each other's languages, so he invented Race. Now everyone's too stuck up to want to understand each other!
 21. Boo, where did you get that joke? THAT'S MY FAMILY HEIRLOOM! *Ahem* Anyway, this is another one my dad never stops telling. Maybe you guys will like it more. The Duck and the Bartender One day, a bartender is up to his usual business, cleaning mugs and breaking up rowdy customers, when a duck waddles through the door and hops up onto a stool. "Excuse me," says the duck. "Yes, may I help you?" asks the astonished bartender. The duck is quick to reply. "Got any grapes?" "No, I'm sorry," says the bartender. The duck just gets up and leaves. The next day, the duck comes back and, just like the day before, hops up on the stool, turns to the bartender and asks, "Got any grapes?" "No, this is a bar," Says the bartender, watching the duck head for the door. The next day, the exact same thing happens. This time however, the bartender is fed up. "Got any grapes?" "NO! WE HAVE NO GRAPES! THIS IS A BAR! WE HAVE NEVER HAD GRAPES AND WE NEVER WILL! IF YOU COME IN HERE ONE MORE TIME TO ASK ABOUT GRAPES, I'LL-I'LL NAIL YOUR BEAK TO THE BAR!!!!" The next day, like clockwork, the duck arrives. However he now has a new question. "Got any nails?" "No," replies the confused bartender. "Good! Got any grapes?"
 22. I thought it was just a drawing program. Nothing I can't do on Pictochat. That said, I may have to try it out. Doesn't look like my cup o' tea, but I've been wrong before (seriously, people, go buy Elite Beat Agents. Tell them Ace sent you and you might be able to confuse 'em into a discount.)
 23.
Next is Super Smash Bros. Melee. Because of the fact that, over the years, we've both had a thousand memory cards and only one memory card for long periods of time, we have had a very substantial amount of files for this game. And, of course, had to unlock every character almost as many times. I don't know if you know this, but to get Mewtwo alone you are required to have 20 hours of play time. Now imagine that times 11 or so. Yeah. So, I can also tell you how to get just about anything in this game. Why do we not really play it as much now? Well, because my brothers can't beat me. I'm just too good - I play Samus BTW. Not to mention there's only so many characters that are very fun to use, and the game just gets boring the buhmillionth time.
Technically it's 5. Plug in 4 controllers, go to four man melee, set a timer and let it simmer. Anyway, I have a severe addiction to Tales of Symphonia. I go through the game un and re-forgiving every character at least 5 times. On top of that, I spend lots of time deciding whether Lloyd gets love or
Kratos
this time around. (he frequently ends up with Raine or Sheena. Mostly Raine.) Is there a Tales Anonymous group somewhere?
As I mentioned, my brother brought a GameCube and he plans to buy Zelda: Twilight Princess, and so that leaves me to get Zelda: Orcarina of Time or that Zelda collection. (Maybe both) I still have a craving to play Orcarina of Time though, so, yeah.
Don't waste your money. The collector's edition has Ocarina of Time, as well as Zelda I and II and Majora's Mask.
 24. Mugglecast. What? It's interesting, funny, relative to my interests, and the Pokemon refrences are so rediculous that they begin to make sense after a while. Actually, that's the only one I'm really big into, but Japanesepod101.com is starting to grow on me and, hey, I need my language credits. Also, Some friends and I are trying to start our own, but we can't seem to get it off the ground.
 25.
I was having this arguement/ discussion with my friend from Quebéc about how you don't need language to maintain your culture and he's claiming that you do need language to maintain your culture. Which to me is an insult because I'm Irish American and to my knowledge Gaelic which is an Irish language is virtually unknown to most people of Irish decent not living in Ireland. So now I have to ask the rest of you all. What do you think? Can you have a cultural heritage without being able to speak your ancestral tongue?
Of course not. I know you're a New Yorker, but I would never imagine you swearing. Oh, THAT language. Well, I have a Norse heritage. I don't even know what my supposed native tongue is called. "Uffdaish" or something. As far as I'm concerned, your friend may as well have just told you to shrink four feet and wear green. This kind of stuff has no bearing on your heritage. That said, I thought Gaelic was Scottish. Too much Robert Louis Stevensen for me, I suppose.
