I read about the re-licensing on VG Cats actually... The only thing is that they're only dubbing the last few episodes? That's going to be a little strange. But they said they might go back to the first hundred after. I think I'll wait for the DVDs of the first "season" to come out before I start actually watching this series. -r2
Apparently, it's because Cartoon Network doesn't want to have to go back to square 1 on it. Surprisingly enough, the former dub apparently got pretty good ratings in the 9-to-14 demographic, but yeah, the big big news is mostly the unedited DVD release. I'm definitely gonna check those out. (By the way, R2, you may not remember this, but... sorry for being such a troll in my early days here. I never got around to apologizing, except to James.)

Okay, folks. I was just at Arlong Park (No, I am a lurker there.) WE'VE DONE IT! http://www.animeonline.com/index.php?page=news_featured&ent_id=101234 That's right. FUNImation knows what we want, and they are giving it to us.
So what are the DVD plans? They?ll be uncut, right? HEISKELL: Totally uncut. What you see is what you get.
Eat our shorts, Kahn. Heiskell cares. Man, I love America at times like this (Sanjaya's finally off American Idol also.) Just thought you all should know. The nightmare is over and the dream is just beginning. Gotta go. Edit:
Besides, I think when
Franky ran around Water 7 without the speedo,
I think everyone just threw up their arms and cursed violently. They thought they could cut
Little Garden because of Mr. 3's sadism,[/Spoiler'] but I'm sure enough finally became enough for them.
Incorrect, I believe they cut Little Garden because of Chopper the Blue-Nosed Merchandsing Goldmine. It's all about money and how fast they can get it with these guys.

Manga One Piece Manga [Warning: Spoilers]
The Spectacular Professor replied to Tatsubei Yagyu's topic in Otaku Central
It's finally here! A manga board for One Piece! Domo, Tatsubei! Okay, on to business. I'm one of the few who are of the opinion that
Ace is alive. I don't think Logias can "run out" of their elements, and as far as I remember, any deceased characters so far were either part of one of the Mugiwara backstories or Mr. 9. It doesn't seem like Oda's style to kill off someone like Ace. I think it more likely Blackbeard will be Shichibukai when he meets Luffy, thanks to the bounty he gained from handing Ace over to be carted off to Impel Down.
Also, is it just me or is
Sunny
just getting cooler and cooler? I mean,
Mini Merry? C'mon, that just rules! Brooke is becoming more and more interesting by the minute. I hope he does join and give the Straw Hats the Power of Afro permanently. They're gonna need it against Kuzan. He's got plenty.
-
Public Displays of Affection.
The Spectacular Professor replied to DeathKnight's topic in General Discussion
Survey *First of all, I'd like to ask how old are you? *How would you say you feel about abstinence? (A. Excellent, B. Good, C. Fair, D. Poor) *And how many times have you been in a situation where you had to make a decision to abstain from sexual activity or not? (It's cool to estimate.) *How many relationships have you been in? (A numerical estimation is cool here too.) *How often would you say you see public displays of affection? *When you see these public displays of affection would you say you're offended in any way? *Would public displays of affection be alright for you to show? *How far would you say is too far for a public display of affection? (A. Kissing, B. Hugging, C. Other. If other, could you provide me with a short explanation of what you consider too far?) *In your opinion have school dances become too sexual? Yes/No. *At what age do you think that dating should begin? (Like, a real age not "Whenever!") Thank you in advance to anyone who does the survey too. :)
1: teens (you're not getting a more specific answer. Don't try.) 2: A. say what you will. I'm Lutheran. 3: never 4: they've mostly been friend relationships. I kinda wish I had a girlfriend, but I can wait. 5: every day. I'm in High School. 6: no, but I'm a bit embarassed sometimes. 7: I hug (friends who are female) sometimes, so I guess so. 8: B. I'll explain later. 9: I don't know. I've never gone. 10: Mom says: 43. Just kidding, I would say around the time your hormones aren't trying to "get to know" every girl/guy you meet, so about 17-18? I think you should probably limit your PDA's to hugging or small kisses (cheek or peck) because of certain taboos of our society. For instance, two men or women may want to think about kissing in public because it might make others uncomfortable (and in the female case, you might attract some pervs.) I think anything you can say or do in public can wait until you're in a slightly less public setting and not make people uncomfortable. (About my example: I don't feel like giving my opinion on the matter because no doubt SOMEONE will and I don't feel like being called names right now.) -
I'm currently in a bit of a rut. I don't know the real way to get a girl!! So far I've tried the you look beautiful walk away method. And it got me a thanks. Almost there! Kid-ding. But I'm really being serious. I have this uber crush on this girl. In front of all my friends just her name makes me blush. My friend says it's true love. 2 Questions. Is it? And could I get some pointers on "how to get the girl"? Thank you all a lot ahead of time.
Okay, I seem to be going upstream here, but I'm gonna say... Sit down and chat a little bit with her. Find out what you have in common. Become friends. Yes, you heard me. F-R-I-E-N-D-S. (if you find out that she is what you thought. Of course, if not, a new friend is always nice. :D ) After that, just hang out together, get to know her better, and if you still want to after a few weeks or so, ask her out. If not, again, you still have a new friend. Unless she decides you're a creep for asking. Then you're on your own. It's pretty unlikely, though. So that's my advice. Then again, I'm the whitest, nerdiest kid in school and most people agree that Weird Al wrote me a theme song, so what do I know about girls? This is just what I would do. Edit: oops, heheheh... congrats, dude. (Stupid, stupid Ace, read the second page, yeh moron.)
I'd just like to remind everyone to PLEASE use spoiler tags when posting. Remember, not everyone has seen this movie. Please read the [U]Music, Movies & TV guidelines[/U'], and feel free to PM me or any other moderator if you have any questions.
Sorry 'bout that. I didn't realize exactly how strict the spoiler tag rule is. I thought that if it didn't reveal the outcome... But I've been wrong before (frequently) and you're the mod, so I'll try to use tags when I'm not sure. Thanks for the warning!

Anyone else seen this? It's a movie co-written by and starring Weird Al Yankovic. The premise is that Al's character is a man with an incredibly vivid imagination, but he can't hold a job.
That is, until his uncle wins a small UHF station in a game of cards. He gets put in charge of the programming, and hilarity ensues. Eventually, his uncle gets in debt with the mob, and they need to earn money to keep the station.
I saw it with my friends a while ago, and couldn't stop laughing. It's a bit dated, but it is now my favorite movie due to it's sense of humor, storyline, and proof that Micheal Richards was once funny. Added spoiler tags. -Clurr
However, I'd like it if One Piece started to play on Adult Swim as well (personally I'm against Toonami because I don't have time to watch tv during weekdays >_>), because it's a hassle to go through all the episodes on YouTube.
Kaizoku fansubs and ADC Elites are good sites to download the anime, but it takes up space on your browser. Youtube is too slow on my computer, which is why I just go to the msn groups site and read the manga. Sometimes I go to my friend's house and youtube the movies, though. Recent spoilers:
They're talking about Whitebeard possibly dying at the hands of Blackbeard soon over a MSN Groups and AP forums. I could see it happening in the Ace vs. Blackbeard fight. WB shows up to back Ace up, but gets cocky, as usual. Blackbeard mortally wounds him, and he asks Ace to find Luffy so he can meet him at the end. they meet up with Luffy, Wb asks Ace to help his brother take care of BB for him and, commenting on how "this little whelp is just like Roger," breathes his last. Ace joins up with Luffy and all my hopes and dreams come true and Ace is a mugiwara. I don't really want to see WB die, but it could happen.
what do you guys think? It probably won't happen though.
A better question could be, "What could the Breach of Contract not be?" Taking into consideration what 4kids did to this series, I'm not suprised that they dropped it (being forced or otherwise). Anywhore 4kids has stopped subbing One Piece
Ace has found Blackbeard and as they fought its revealed that Blackbeard had a Logia Devil Fruit that could control Darkness
Life is good in the world of One Piece
Yeah, life is very good for the Mugiwara Pirates. Anyone else wondering where we can
pick up a copy of that DF catalog Blackbeard was talking about?
Anyway, I hope someone picks it up in the states again and puts it on Adult Swim or something. It would be too bad if Kahn's interference prevented it from having a chance.

I can understand the decision, but has anyone read "Freak the Mighty?" I'm not sure what size she is now, or the extent of the "freezing," but if her innards keep growing, she could die. If that's not the case, maybe this is best for her physical and mental well-being.

Gaming The Video Game Sub-title Game!
The Spectacular Professor replied to 2010DigitalBoy's topic in Noosphere
Tis actually Marvel: Ultimate Alliance =P. I actually thought it was too easy when I started looking over it.[/b']
"I don't see a price on the fat guy in the bubble, how much is he?" "That's you." "Oop, EM-barassing." Sorry, I was thinking of riding spiders and fighting off rabbits of doom AS an action hero. Also I wasn't sure anyone would get mine. PWNED just PWNS at this! (Hey, PWNED, could you tell me which VGCatz it is when they have the Dub Robot ripping Luffy's guts out? Sojiro needs to see that.) Anyway, sorry for the delay and let the game continue. -
Gaming The Video Game Sub-title Game!
The Spectacular Professor replied to 2010DigitalBoy's topic in Noosphere
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner - Raidou Kuzunoha vs The Souless Army. Heh, Shin Megami Tensei was actually the first thing that went through my mind when i saw the first 3 words. Sub-Title: An extravagent gathering of those bound by a common purpose. 1) Only here will you see rabid animals, 8 legged insects, and heroes of justice working together. 2) Released within the last four months, now out for multiple systems.
Okay, took me a while, but I'm guessing Rayman: Raving Rabbids (say it three times fast.) My turn: Summoner's Lineage Hint 1: Part of a long-standing popular series with installments on SNES, PS1, PS2, and GCN among many other systems, this installment never made it to the states. Hint 2: A spinoff of a game released on three different systems (at different times,) but released only once on one system in America. -
Well, the thing is is that 4kids seemingly stopped dubbing at an odd place, right around the beginning of the Jaya arc, they had even aired the first episode of Jaya in the UK before the dub seemingly disappeared completely. So my theory is that 4kids' license was completely revoked, since Toei can do that in cases of breach of contract, or for whatever other reason they have in mind.
I was wondering about the dropping of the series from the dreaded Kahn's hands. What would the "breach of contract" be, anyway (besides everything: terrible VA's, like Vivi or Sanji; being obsessed with getting the L/R thing wrong everytime [Nefeltari, Zolo (I don't really care about that one or Roguetown; ) the whole "Trace" thing [don't tell me the name is inappropriate, remember Funky Cops, that crappy show they made all by themselves? Guess what one of the main characters' names was. Ace.] or their massive story edits for merchandising's sake.) It seems strange to just stop here, especially when Grand Adventure went all the way to Skypeia.

YESSS!!! LEGO is so one three three seven! Man, I used to spend so much time in my room building robot mutant shark people and the like. Heck, sometimes I even dust off the ol' collection and start building (I currently have a very crude representation of the Going Merry on my bookshelf among other creations.) Yeah, I've heard of the Exo Force thing, which seems kind of cool. I wonder how they come up with the names, though. I noticed that one of the characters is named Hikaru, so I instantly thought "After he gave up Go and dyed his hair blue." Anyway, the liscensing thing doesn't nessecaily mean that they're going downhill. If so, there is no explanation for LEGO Star Wars II (great game, by the way.)

What's your geekiest purchase?
The Spectacular Professor replied to vegeta rocker's topic in General Discussion
What a coincidence, I just bought Lego Star Wars. For Gamecube, no less. Those things combined will probably equal ubergeekness. I actually thought it was worth it, though. -
Well, I didn't raelly come up with mine, honestly. It's alwayse been a borrowed gift. The "Sojiro" part was my best friend's idea. And the "47" Was a gift from my predicesor. So...I inherited part of it, and the other was given to me by a dear friend. There it is.
I guess I can wrap this story up for you, since it also has to do with my username. Where Sojiro and I go to church, our little circle of friends have a little "tradition" of giving each other anime-related nicknames. You may be able to recognise Sojiro's name as Seta Sojiro from Rurouni Kenshin, whereas I go by Battosai when referring to Kenshin characters. My username comes from this, except with my favorite anime, One Piece. My character nickname for One Piece is Ace, Luffy's older brother and master of fire (Hence the "burner.") Sojiro goes by Sanji when referring to this. Just a bit of trivia for y'all!

Ah, yes, Hikaru no Go. I love this series. Alas, I can never afford to buy my own Manga (One Piece being a MAJOR exception. Heck, I'm even buying Grand Adventure [I may have to arson-ize Gamecrazy if it doesn't get here soon :whoops: .]) As of the moment, I am currently waiting for my good friend Sojiro47 to make another Borders run so I can "borrow" (Read: steal) his copies.

What quote do you live by?
The Spectacular Professor replied to PaganAngel's topic in General Discussion
You stole it. Jerk. Okay, I got this one from the movie The Santa Clause, and I think it really sums up my religion to a tee. "Seeing isn't believing, believing is seeing"- That elf girl (was her name Susie? I forget.) -
Okay, my turn... No one expected my motivational poster! Edit: wow, my photobucket sucks. Well, in case anyone cares, it says "Monty Python: Because NOBODY expects the Spanish Inquisition!" I will try to get around to fixing it at a later time.
Because Desbreko is a Site Admin, obviously. Wine and logic ftw! And thinking about the game ftl!
I lose. Ummm, yeah, we know that Des is an Admin. What he meant is "Why start a thread where the idea is not to post. By the way, are you following Sojiro and trying to discredit him 'cuz he thinks Ninja over Pirate? Because if you are, that's not cool :animesmil . If not, forget I said anything. I'm kidding anyway.

Anime Who would win poke vs digi
The Spectacular Professor replied to Whatsupmon's topic in Otaku Central
Okaaay... I would have to go with digimon, for one simple reason: Digimon, can revert back to their weak, small, original forms after evolving." That sounds lame!" you all yell. Hear me out. A huuuge Charizard VS. Wargreymon, for example: Charizard beats him within an inch of his life, but not before taking a few hits, as well. Wargreymon then changes back into Agumon, climbs into a small cave, and rests to gain a little energy back. Poor ol' Charizard is sitting there waiting for him to come out. Out comes Agumon, then Wargreymon, then the beating of Charizard's life. The end. -
What quote do you live by?
The Spectacular Professor replied to PaganAngel's topic in General Discussion
Okay, I forgot exactly who said it, but one of my favorites goes as follows: "I refuse to engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed person." Note: it is not in your best interest to say "What?" if someone uses that on you. -
I didn't forget the elite of One-Piece, I simply know nothing about them. Whereas I've watched Naruto extensively, I've only seen about...three...episodes of One-Piece. Until you just mentioned them, I really didn't know about Mihawk and Ace (although I do have Grand Battle, and Smoker does rawk. Have yet to unlock Shanks. >.

Okay, so it has been brought up that today's ninja has been terribly over-hyped. This is true, but so have pirates. Let me explain: 1. Pirates do not bury treasure. They blow it on booze and hookers. 2. Walk the plank? Don't make me laugh. If you're worth the plank, you're worth money to someone (ransom, anyone?) 3. No sane pirate would go out and rob himself a huge ship. Other than Blackbeard, most pirate ships were oversized rowboats, thus helping to catch the merchants they were after off guard. 4. Scurvy. Citrus deficiency is literally murder. 5. Female pirates don't exist. For the most part, anyway. However, I'm pretty sure that "Elizabeth Swan" doesn't sound anything like "Queen Alvida." Pirates were incredibly superstitious, but so were most sailors. Both have been overhyped, which is why I remain happily nonpartisan. Also, Ben, In your argument, you forget the elite of One Piece, while bringing up Kakashi. There's Mihawk (world's greatest swordsman, count the other seven warlords, as well,) Shanks (missing an arm, but still kicks butt in Grand Battle,) Smoker (face it, he is just too awesome,) and, of course, Ace (I would pay money to see him and Kakashi go at it.)

Most Important Person In Your Life
The Spectacular Professor replied to Sojiro47's topic in General Discussion
Last night as I lay in my bed, I started thinking about the two most important people in my life. I wasn't really thinking, mor like reminiscing about the past. Anyway, I was wondering who the most important person in your life was, and why. There are two people in my life I consider as the most important. The first one is my best friend. Her name is Samantha. We have been best friends sence as long as I can remember, we dated, and we know everything about each other. I will always trust her with anything. Like any good friend, she straitens me out when I need it, and is by my side always. The other person in my life I consider important is my beloved sensei, Sensei Pete. He has been the most father like figure in my life. He has always been there to listen to even the minor problems in my life. This man has always been there for me. I owe him so much.
Seems like there's someone missing from your list... I'm telling SOM! (No, I'm not.) for me, I would have to agree with DeadSeraphim, and running in a close second, friends and family, who help me preserve my sanity.
