I can already imagine all of the Twilight Fans flooding into the movies on the day it is released and squealing every time he says a line. I really do not want that. How To Train Your Dragon is not ment to have that kind of fan-base. It is a children's movie, it is for children. They are not going to care who is in it, and certainly the parents that take them to go see it are not going to be too happy about Pattinson's role in it. That's just my opinion though.
By this logic, Craig Ferguson shouldn't have been in the first movie, because that's exactly what I did for every single one of Gobber's lines. And on that note, I've been to see all three Pirates of the Carribbean movies and the Tim Burton version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in theaters. The fangirls behaved themselves pretty well when Johnny Depp was onscreen, so I have my doubt that this phenomenon you're stressing about actually happens. As for parental concerns, I really just kind of hate it when people decide to hate on an actor for their past roles. The thing about actors is, a lot like most of us, they enjoy eating, sleeping in a bed and not walking around in public naked. These things are a lot harder to do when you have no money to obtain the materials necessary, so they end up showing up in bad movies. Take Brenden Frasier, for example. This is a good actor who winds up almost exclusively appearing in bad movies. Do I fault him for it? No, because he was Ben Sullivan on [Scrubs] and gave one of the best performances of his life there. And it doesn't even have to be exclusive to "bad" movies. A lot of parents will go crazy about an actor their kids like appearing in something not appropriate for kids. There are several things wrong with this. First of all, the 'adult' movie the actor is in isn't supposed to be seen by your kid anyway, so if they do get 'corrupted' by it, that's on you. Second, Hollywood shouldn't be raising your kids, you should. Sure, they can have role models, but you're still supposed to tell them what is and is not okay. Third, these actors have lives and it's not up to you to dictate what they can or can't do with them. Finally, plenty of 'adult' actors know how to reign it in and behave and are actually very good with children. Jack Black, for example, was in Kung-Fu Panda and has appeared on Sesame Street while simultaneously being the lead singer of one of the dirtiest bands in the country. Heck, George Carlin was the conductor on a couple of seasons of Thomas the Tank Engine. Why were they allowed to do such things? Simple. They didn't swear or make sex jokes. Because they were making kid's material. Bottom line, I don't care if Pattinson wants to finally appear in a good movie. In fact, I praise him for it. If he gives a bad performance, that'll be another story, but I really don't mind him being there for the time being. Oh, and if it makes you feel any better, Robbie has been actively trying to sabotage the entire series from the inside since day 1.
What makes me cringe the most of this news is that Jason Alexander is playing Cosmo.
On the contrary, this is the only part I'm actually looking forward to. It's one of those "this movie is bound to be bad, but the one actor already knew that and decided to have as much fun as possible making this tremendously bad movie" things. -
Watching 'The Perils of Penelope Pitstop' at the moment. This makes my Top Ten List of Irritating Boomerang Shows. SERIOUSLY, PENELOPE! NO ONE FREAKING RUNS LIKE THAT!!!
I never understood why Penelope got a spinoff in the first place. She's probably the most irritating character on Wacky Races. All she did was get trapped or incapacitated (usually it's her own damn fault, like running out of gas or something) and then every guy on the racetrack would pull over and help her because no one else participating had breasts. I swear, if Dick Dastardly wanted to win a race, all he had to do was siphon Penelope's gas tank before the race. They should have given someone interesting the spinoff. Like Pat Pending or Peter Perfect (hey, at least a half hour of ol' Pete's phallic symbol car being smashed up would be funny). -
that's all I have to say about this.
Don't forget about how Aang gains a new female companion every season and the last one is shipped off to parts unknown for who knows what. Wait, Katara stayed part of the group for the entire series? Even after Toph and Suki joined up? Unreal.

Oil spills are an inherent risk in oil drilling, the same way nicking the wrong artery is an inherent risk in performing surgery and various food-borne illness scares that cause people to swear off pork for about a week before forgetting the whole thing and hitting their local Famous Dave's is an inherent risk of raising pigs. No system is failsafe, and it's unlikely that any system ever will be. That's just the way this stuff works. Sure, there are procedures to ensure that this stuff happens less often, but the thing about odds is that they basically just determine how long it will take for something bad to go down. That being said, what we can do about this stuff is exactly what CaNz said; figure out how to fix it before it breaks. Add an extra valve, come up with a plan of action, whatever. This stuff needs to be dealt with promptly, and that means being ready for it before it happens, not scrambling around like a bunch of headless chickens while all of your assets and corporate credibility leak out the same pipe dumping gallon after gallon of oil all over the Louisiana coastline. Speaking of which, I was in New Orleans a couple days ago. The "FUBP" shirts were hilarious.

Strong female character will be fun and exciting. I wonder if there will be fun descendants from other characters. Like Fire Lord Zuko and May's kids. I can't imagine how messed up/emo/confused they'll be, but it'll be fun anyway. AND, what kind of animal guide would Korra have? Badgermole for Earth, Dragon for Fire, Skybison for Air, and ....what exactly for water? Giant whale/eel/shark? God I would love to ride a giant whale...
Well, acording to Katara in the third book, the Waterbenders picked it up from the moon. ...I have no idea how that's going to work.

Yeah, yeah, he was just making the people happy, he had the interest of the human race at heart et cetera et cetera yadda yadda yadda. Y'know what? I still hated him for over half the second season of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Rossiu Adai, you are a douche. You more or less singlehandedly caused
the Anti-Spiral attack by driving all the underground humans to the surface against their will and taking a census of them, all the while carelessly advancing the very prophecy you yourself feared so much. You usurped the authority of your best friend, forbade him to save the people he swore to protect, then threw him under the bus and SENTENCED HIM TO DEATH to appease said people. You then sentenced over half of the very same huddled masses to a gruesome, fiery death in order to save the collective asses of you, your girlfriend and your friends, excluding the one you left to rot in a maximum security prison vault hours earlier. Too bad all of your arrogant politics couldn't hold up to the grit and determination of the man you plunged a machete into the back of. The best damn thing you ever did was not commit suicide, because by not being dead you gave Simon the opportunity to pound your oh-so-punchable face the way everyone watching the show wanted to. You were extremely hatable, forgiven far too easily, and left in charge of everything you were previously proven too incompetent to handle. You, sir, are the worst part of my favorite show. I would have been far less frustrated with your final fate if you weren't appointed leader of the very world you nearly destroyed in the end. Have your happy ending, fine. Just don't take back everything you never deserved.
-

The CHARMLESS FOLLOWER takes the traditional stance and prepares to determine WHOSE KUNG-FU IS STRONGER. Suddenly, you notice the neck of a bottle in the outer pocket of his MINION SATCHEL. It seems to contain an orange liquid of some kind... Waitaminit, is that.... Yes it is! It's an ORANGE FANTA! Sweet Seyfert do you love ORANGE FANTA. Moreso than any ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE, in fact. You would sell your own mother for a lifetime supply of ORANGE FANTA, seriously. Don't look at yourself like that, you don't know your mother. You need that drink. > steal Fanta You browse your CONFLICTECH list to choose your next attack. As it is your turn, the CHARMLESS FOLLOWER politely holds his ground waiting for your choice. You settle on ARTFUL DODGE. You feint a strike at the CHARMLESS FOLLOWER, only to step aside at the last moment. You use your opponent's momentary flinch to relieve him of his delicious beverage, then take your position back across the room. > spray Fanta in charmless follower's face WHAT? NO! You are outraged at the very idea of this! such a waste of the most delicious beverage you've ever encountered! The orange-y goodness of this ORANGE FANTA shall not be squandered in the face of this CHARMLESS FOLLOWER. His eyes do not deserve to be stung by the FRUITY BURST OF FLAVOR within this sacred bottle! A drink this tasty must be preserved and respected! Jeez, what is wrong with you? While you're arguing with yourself, the CHARMLESS FOLLOWER moves in to strike. He suddenly pauses, bewildered by your apparent mental breakdown. This causes him to sacrifice his own turn. He moves back into position on the opposite end of the battlefield. > Jump, gypsy You settle on your next CONFLICTECH: JUMP, GYPSY. You raise your VIOLENT-LOOKING MACE above your head and lunge at your opponent.
