Manga Naruto Manga [Warning: Spoilers]
The Spectacular Professor replied to Ryo the Tactician's topic in Otaku Central
Personally I find the growing Kisame/Killerbee pairings trend coming about because of this most disturbing.
Please, if anything this is a love triangle. Kisame is still in love with Samehada who ran off with Killerbee. Clearly, Kisame is an abusive partner. Even if Samehada was cheating, that kick was totally uncalled for and very traumatizing. Would you expect an empathetic weapon to stand by and let you cut off the business portion of its true love's body? I didn't think so. Does anyone know any good therapists? That last paragraph disturbed me deeply. -

Guess I'd better join the cell, then. Hey Gavin, how's the virgin situation lookin' in OB Heaven? Still enough to go around? -
There's a group for OB and a "profile" for Spikey, the mascot. Spikey's page updates with whatever news nuggets have been added recently. Adam used to use it as a sock puppet, but I haven't seen him actually post anything in there for a while.

The Padded Room Party: Random Thoughts

We have Scotland to thank for Sean Connery. I think the answer is clear here. I was insulted vulgarly by a friend today at the prompting of one of the biggest douchebags around. She apologized and I have not forgiven her yet. She has a history of pulling crap like this, crying over it for three seconds and going on with life not sweating over it too much. She gets to sweat now. I want her to know that when you act like a horse's butt, you lose friends. We'll see if she gets her forgiveness later. -

Anime Shippuden on Toon Disney!?
The Spectacular Professor replied to HopefulOTaKu's topic in Otaku Central
I should really just put this in the preface: I'm sorry if I came off as a jerk with that last post of mine. This is kind of a topic I've already worn to the ground and honestly I'm a bit tired of it myself, so I probably sounded a lot more abrasive than I meant to. I hope you don't hold it against me and for the record, I'm totally cool with your decision. I just disagreed with your reasoning a bit.
Movies mentioned? One made 62 years ago not recently. One that wasn't even released in theaters because they knew it was a pile, Simba's Pride. And one that while it was in theaters didn't do amazingly well, Hunchback. Oh yeah that reminds me... Bambi one of their "classics" they dumbed down with their version of adding to the story to make it more of a spunky happy sort of thing. You know erase the "OMG HIS MOMMA DIED!" memories of that scene by turning it into the following... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8fofVHg-QdE
I'll half-concede this point, though I'm also gonna have to disagree on a couple of things, since Simba's Pride is actually a fair bit more popular than most of the other cruddy direct to DVD sequels they've released and Hunchback has become a bit of a cult classic at this point. In any case, whether or not the movie was successful doesn't change the fact that it had some pretty dark themes and it was a Disney feature. As for the Bambi sequel, it was made 60 years after the original, so it's about as moot a point as the one I made about the scene in the first place. :animeswea The basic point I'm trying to get across is that a lot of people seem to think Disney has a really juvenile history of pandering directly to children and never even bothering to think of their other demographics, which I'm guessing is an inference based on their recent history of doing just that with Hannah Montana, Jonas Brothers, etc. It kinda bugs me because looking back far enough, it's really not the case at all, and it's kind of giving them a rep they don't deserve (anymore.) Of course, you already knew all that, so I guess I'll just shut up now. :animesmil Also, sorry about assuming you haven't bothered to check in on it. I can see where you might think it's not a good fit with the channel. The advertising on there is pretty grating. -
Anime Shippuden on Toon Disney!?
The Spectacular Professor replied to HopefulOTaKu's topic in Otaku Central
Hoo boy, here we go.
Personally the minute the man beast told me about that I became irate. Disney has no buisness being near anime. Ever.
Every Studio Ghibli movie ever dubbed would like to have a word with you.
Dumb it down just like they do everything else.
It was the year 1942. Thousands of children nationwide were scarred for life after this scene broke up what was otherwise a lighthearted, adorable family film. This is possibly subjective, but I don't think many people would consider the death of any main character's mother an example of "dumbing it down." Also: See above video evidence courtesy of Sangome, featuring a priest singing about rape and a mother coaxing her children to murder.
Edit virtually everything out.
And at this point, I'm going to call complaining about shows you don't watch. See, I've actually seen Disney XD's air versions of the show. It's exactly the same as it was on CN. Aside from very minor violence/risque content edits (Deidara got his arm crushed, but didn't bleed, Jiraiya's books aren't as heavily implied to be smut,) it's identical. Kakashi even said the word "kill" at one point. You'd be hard-pressed to find another cartoon on US airwaves that can get away with that and isn't Avatar. EDIT: Haha yeah, Family Guy, South Park, etc. Don't count.
Ugh... Cartoon Network failed when they dropped that into Disneys lap...
CN had little to no say in the matter. They stopped distributing because Naruto wasn't pulling in those monster ratings anymore (likely because of the filler hell that the last season or two basically consist of.) Viz needed a distributor, and Disney volunteered. You want to complain about "letting it happen," blame Viz.
This is why I refuse to watch it on tv now. Just wait for the unedited dvd's to come out and in the meantime watch the unedited goodness online. >. -
Don't feel bad. I didn't find out until someone told me around the time Itachi kicked the bucket. Or was it Pein... I think the only exception to that rule is Hidan though. If I recall he still had his cloak on. (Although it's also safe to assume he didn't die though)
Actually, I think Kishi stated outside of the actual series that Hidan has to do that blood ritual regularly in order to stay immortal, so he's probably dead by now. Anyone else think that Kisame's new form looks like a Zora had (As Christopher Turk of Scrubs would put it) "Underwater Relations" with a sperm whale? -
I have also decided to take over the U.S. in the name of the Roman Empire and re-name it New Pompeii. We will all speak Latin as the main language and our flag will be a giant Wal-Mart smiley face with oblique black and red stripes in the background. Also, our national bird will be Jack Sparrow. Our national "As Roman as..." will be Jell-O. And our national anthem will be a tune containing every quote that has ever left Kamina's mouth ever.
Fair warning, I'd be forced to conquer you about a year later and turn the flag into the Dai-Gurren emblem. I'd also rename it GARabia and change the national language to Yiddish, just because. The rest can stay the same, with the possible exception of Jack Sparrow being replaced with Sam the Eagle from the Muppets. -
I know people are bout tired of it now, but I'm gonna say it again... Sasuke is Naruto's lover.
And on that note, Killerbee's "pretty eyes" comment has me convinced that there is not a single heterosexual male in this series. Which would explain why Hinata's been getting the finger and Sakura's confession is basically being blown off as EW ICKY GIRL GO AWAY. Best part of the chapter by far came right after Kisame blocked that second attack. Most dudes would hesitate or even cower before such might, but no, Killerbee is the man. Throws a damn headbutt at him. -
Discuss The Great Rebellion – Summit
The Spectacular Professor replied to Allamorph's topic in Theater
You misunderstand. You're not the "utterly foolish" one. Your idea had its merits, but you didn't consider it fully, and no one blames you for it. "Utterly foolish" refers to the Gym Leaders if they overlooked such an important detail as civilian protection. You aren't a Gym leader and you're not in charge of the story bits pertaining to this kind of thing, so you can be forgiven for overlooking that. Basically, the idea is a start, but not thought out to the extent that we can make it work easily. Some of the problems with it would make the characters look stupid to overlook, but you can't be expected to worry about those particular details because they aren't things that would easily occur to you (or even me) anyway.
