Gaming Teen convicted of killing mom
The Spectacular Professor replied to Rachmaninoff's topic in Noosphere
Not even Phoenix Wright could defend this guy. This case is pretty much a slam dunk in my opinion.
To say nothing of whether he would... But anyway, I agree. The games are obviously part of the problem. I wouldn't argue on that at all. They were involved, or he wouldn't have bothered to kill over it. The thing is, as a gamer, I tend to look at stories like this and think, "and to top it all off, some idiot is going to start preaching the anti-game gospel again." It's not my first thought, but it tends to bother me. I know gaming is becoming more mainstream, but it seems like that's just making the anti-sentiment stronger. The situation is already tragic enough without people trying to lump all the blame on something that's obviously a small part of a very large and complex problem. -

Anime I need help in finding a new series to watch
The Spectacular Professor replied to Vigilance's topic in Otaku Central
Is it called Blade of the Immortal? OK thanks for the title of the anime that I forget the title. Man, I'm so forgetful lately, but can you help me with another title? Again I forget the title, but its somewhat of monster and sword fight in a way. Its about these monster who can shape shift into people with out letting someone else find out about their identity. Then these girl, who have fuse themselve with the monster blood, become half monster half human and they carry a big sword. People notice them because of their silver eyes. What title is it? I heard its popular.
Sounds like Claymore. I haven't exposed myself to much of it yet, but I've heard good things about it. -

Better transfer the flame to something more durable. > Ignite lantern That's a stupid idea. You wonder why you ever though of it as you press the switch on the electric LANTERN. A warm glow fills the cavern, quickly outdoing the MATCH. You toss aside the MATCH, wondering why you ever thought you needed it in the first place. > ಠ_ಠ DICK VAN DYKE is quite sure you are insane and wonders how you ever managed to enter those characters, much less get the game to respond to them. > Throw lantern Now let's be reasonable. Since that's what happens to dead people in video games. > Fail at previous action Having already succeeded at the previous action, you instead fail at this one. Anime I need help in finding a new series to watch
old school sword fighting, just only skills, without any kind of power that most anime with sword fighting has?
This is more or less a direct description of Rurouni Kenshin, so check that one out. Also, it appears to me that your list lacks Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. it's a mecha series, so I'm not sure if it's what you're looking for, but I wouldn't be doing my job as a Kamina fanboy if I didn't recommend it. -

I don't even- I can't- There is nothing to say. What the everloving hell was wrong with this kid? And I find it disgusting that his defense tried to justify this premeditated murder by claiming that the video games made him do it. That's like saying Hitler caused the holocaust because a Jewish man took his donut. This kid is either seriously sick in the head or just not human. Video games don't do that to you. -
Anime Vote for a New Anime Forum!
The Spectacular Professor replied to James's topic in Otaku Central
I'm gonna go ahead and back Fullmetal Alchemist this round. A couple of reasons: - Out of these choices, FMA, Bleach and (though I regret to report it) Naruto are ongoing, with enough material on the way to keep people interested in discussion. - Naruto and Bleach are basically defaults since they're both so popular, so I'd go with the less predictable one since it's almost given that the other two will get their own forums, if this is based on popularity. -The new anime series is bound to spark a renewed interest in the franchise. -FMA doesn't suck, as opposed to Naruto. A couple of other series that may warrant their own forum, but tend to be less hyped on this particular site would be One Piece and just maybe Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Just puttin' it out there, if one of the goals is to attract new members. -

Well I'm supposed to be doing schoolwork, but that's kinda hard to do when the system's on hold from vacation and hasn't figured out I ordered a new class yet, isn't it? Therefore, at the prodding of that lovable rogue of Moe, Shinmaru, I'm about to go on a Minami-Ke: Okawari binge. Skipping the opening each time, but the show itself should be worth it. -

Writing Journey Quest

Ah, should have explained it more clearly. The idea is; you suggest commands, I write the game. Sorry for the confusion, dude. -
An idea I've been toying with. It's like one of those text-based adventure games. Or a Choose Your Own Adventure book. Basically, you all input commands after each segment. This will be useful because I can be spontaneous and stupid, which takes less planning and effort, plus I can make it as long or short as I want. Anyway... You wake up in a DUNGEON. A quick glance at your surroundings reveals a SHOVEL, a DIRT FLOOR, an ESCAPE TUNNEL BLUEPRINT, and some SKITTLES. > Dig out With what, your hands? Pick up the SHOVEL, bub. > Take Shovel You grab the SHOVEL. Usually dungeon masters would rather feed their patrons CRUSTY BREAD and STALE WATER. You notice the caps and suppose that those items will probably come into play eventually. > Take the freaking Skittles already You grab the SKITTLES. Happy now, punk? > Dig escape tunnel You equip the SHOVEL and begin to dig, following the BLUEPRINTS to the letter. Suddenly, you begin to see a light. You dig a little further to find... Congratulations, Einstein. You just dug a hole through the bottom of an Airship. As you plummet to your doom, you wonder what kind of idiot designs an Airship with a dirt hull. You wonder if there's anything you can do to impede your downward progress. INPUT COMMAND:_

Ah, a bump. Just to let everyone know, I'll probably fall way behind schedule. School comes first, plus I've recently branched a few of my shenanigans out to theO. On top of that, my laptop recently died. Twice. So this thread is basically the only complete copy of this series left. I think I have up to the chapter before last gathering dust on my old iPod somewhere. I'll see if I can dig it up. If not, there will be much copy-pasting.

I might go for Minami-ke: Okaeri if I can finish Okawari first. I really hope they get a new opening for this one, though. Something more akin to Season 1's. Okawari's opening flat-out sucks. Ride Back is really the only other thing that caught my eye, and the description of it is pretty vague. Other than that, nothing caught my eye that I wouldn't feel guilty about watching without catching the original or first season of beforehand. I'm lookin' at you, Slayers. -

Garlock held up a hand. "Had my fingers crossed." "You can't do that," objected Vixen. "Who the hell do you think I am?" replied Garlock, "we're all pirates here, cheating is what we do!" "Fair enough," smirked Vixen, signaling to the cook. Garlock watched in horror as his plate was removed from him. "Hey, what the-!" "If you want to eat, tell me what I want to hear." "That's extortion!" "Pirates." "DAMMIT!" . . . Garlock sat on the Spiral King's figurehead, whiskey in hand. "We have a galley on this ship too, ya know," said Sharona, leaning on the rail nearby. "Pretty decent cook, too." "Jeez, woman. Just drop it." "Well, Captain," she replied, "I'm just suggesting that you could have avoided the humiliation if you'd just eaten over here." Garlock took a swig. "Women." Sharona chuckled. "Can't live with us, can't live without us. Later, Captain." Garlock watched her leave, then turned back to the ocean. "I gotta learn to keep my damn mouth shut," he muttered to himself, taking another swig. -

Why is it nifty? Well isn't that just like Ace to nominate his own creation without a single thought. No, but seriously. I can't take all or even most of the credit for this thread. Everyone pitched in to make it the epic archive of win and funny it is today. It's lost steam since its creation, but this little thread's still truckin' along, miraculously being revived without too much effort before too long every time. Funny will always exist on the internet, and I'm confident that this tread will survive as long as that remains true. Or until someone locks it for being too long or something.

I just thought it was kind of strange at the time since it's not like teleportation jutsus just up and miss the mark like that. Seriously, though. Of all the things to survive, why is Mt. Rushkage unscathed in the slightest? The entire damn village just got nuked. -
Manga Naruto Manga [Warning: Spoilers]
The Spectacular Professor replied to Ryo the Tactician's topic in Otaku Central
Yes, 430 is what I meant. Now let us begin. NARUTO HAS RETURNED! Sporting a jacket that would look awesome, but really only serves to make that orange jumpsuit even more repulsive than usual. Nice coloring job, Kishi. He's standing on a giant frog, which is also standing on a giant frog. This particular frog is standing next to two other frogs of similar height. That's one WTF strike. Two more and I will be quitting this chapter early and playing more Tales of the Abyss instead. It becomes more interesting this way, no? Sith Pein approaches, preparing for the super major face-off that shouldn't be happening since our hero wouldn't be anywhere near Pein's tier if it weren't for Kishimoto's lack of storytelling ability. Naruto still hasn't figured out what the crater he's standing in is. In a marvelous display of selective monument survival, Mt. Rushkage is still standing, which serves to remedy the confusion. Strike two, page 7. And apparently everyone important survived the nuking. Strike thr- OH SWEET FAILKAGE THE HAG IS DYING! Alright, we're still on strike two. For now. Nagato decides to focus all the chakra into Sith Pein for this fight. Because Jiraya was a toy, but his idiot apprentice with seven different attention span disorders is SRS BIZNESS. Two and a half, just because I'm still feeling generous over the whole thing with Tsunade dying. Lazer Brain Pein attacks Tsunade to finish the job, only to be OHKO'd by Naruto. DAMMIT I CAN'T QUIT WITH ONLY ONE PAGE LEFT. And with that, it seems he's surpassed everyone who ever came before him. The end and screw this bullcrap.
