as for the pounding in heads..........i'll do it myself!
The point of having an instructor is having someone on hand to let you know when you make a mistake. You can't really do that as a student because you don't know how you're supposed to do it.

Video martial arts. ... ........ ............ Not seeing it. Anyway, the only way to actually get good at this kind of thing is to get yourself an instructor, IMO. You just can't get the kind of hands-on training from watching a recording (Tae Bo doesn't help in a fight and is basically there for exercise purposes, so it doesn't count.) Besides, who's gonna [strike]pound your head in[/strike] let you know when you're making a mistake? Also, this is from someone who also takes online school courses.
Not to mention Usagi had an underage relationship with Mamoru. But then again, most anime/manga have frequent mentioning of child porn /pedophilia. In Japan, it's culturally accepted to draw these types of things.(but just not actually do it to an actual child) Whereas the US has more strained morals while Japan's are looser.
There are so many ways I could object to this statement. For starters, any actual pornographic material, drawn or otherwise, is censored whether you like it or not over there (as I understand it.) Here, you can pick up a Playboy at any old gas station and the only censorship (as I understand it) would be the black bar on the plastic wrapping covering the cover. In Japan, children are like the center of the world. In America, they're the reason you can't go partying Friday night anymore. (This is a sarcastic example, but you probably already knew that.) In conclusion, never claim that another government's morals are "looser" without adequate evidence. Odds are they're just different.

Game: Rate the Sig above you!
The Spectacular Professor replied to Vervex's topic in General Discussion
Seems more like you'd be likely to find this type of thing in the Art Studio. Anyway, I'd give Crimson Spider's sig an 8/10. The quote is nice. The banner itself is really good, except I'm not very fond of the contrast the letters make with the background. As for me, my sig is a bunch of mindless self-promotion and a banner that I spent about 15 minutes in Paint.net on. Feel free to rate accordingly. -

Manga Naruto Manga [Warning: Spoilers]
The Spectacular Professor replied to Ryo the Tactician's topic in Otaku Central
Oh, right. Better get on that. Chapter 418 Chapter is titled Naruto the Sage. Kill me. Anyway, Naruto has apparently managed to keep all 38 of his attention span disorders in check and mastered the Sage Chakra. According to Fukusaku, he's even surpassed Jiraya and avoided any hint of frog transformation in the process. Except, you know, the slit eyes. Anyway, a bird decides to land on Naruto's shoulder, thus ruining the balance of his stone tile and sending the boy toppling from his perch. Somehow, Kishi has legitimately managed to make me chuckle with a gag he intended to create. I hope this doesn't keep up, I may be out of a job. Naruto lands practically unscathed. This is because he's in Sage Mode. Fukusaku declares that it's time to move on to the final training: Frog-fu, a fighting style using the Sage chakra. Apparently it's not a Rasengan upgrade. This chapter is starting to look decent. It's scaring me. Make it stop. Ah, that's better. We're returning to Team Suck. A bunch of Cloud nins are launching an attack on their temporary base. They find their comrade who was captured last chapter lying on the wall, probably dead. And now we see Naruto training. Apparently we skipped most of it. I'm a little disappointed, but it's still not enough to complain about the chapter. Skip back to Konoha, where Generic Girl, Generic Nerdy Girl and Shikamaru (see, he's cool enough for me to refer to him by name) are still trying to figure out what the crap is going on with that coded message. They're also dissecting Deidara-Pein, by the way. And they'd better hurry up, because Pein is about three feet from the main gate and ready to screw up their crap. All seven of him, including this one who looks like a 13 year old girl with her hair tied in a knot on top. The end. Wow, that was a decent chapter. My discomfort level is currently high. I suspect Kishi is plotting something. Probably trying to lull me into a false sense of security. -

Reviving this thread because... Luna is an online predator. In order to keep the flood of Gurren Lagann characters from subsiding, I present to you: Name: Bruce Ironstaunch (unofficial) Source: Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann Status: Background character, concerned citizen and outspoken Rossiu non-supporter. That just makes him more awesome. -I don't know what's up with that shirt combo he's wearing, but I want one. -He has some fantastic fanart. -And finally, this: In short, Bruce Ironstaunch is the man.
I just got this new external hard drive and I can't seem to get it to work. I have done all the set up correctly in attaching it to the computer. The green light is on saying its ready. The problem is the icon to the lower right corner of the status bar does not appear. I have also gone under my computer to see if it is under there as a removable device and its not. Any ideas on how to solve the problem or is the hard drive defective. Here is the external hard drive that I bought. Manga Naruto Manga [Warning: Spoilers]
The Spectacular Professor replied to Ryo the Tactician's topic in Otaku Central
Naruto may do a Goku and arrive just in the nick of time (or well usually after only one or two people have died) but I get the feeling Jiraiya was a lot more adept at using the Sage chakra in battle, given Naruto has like what, two moves to call on ?
I'm not too worried. If all else fails, Naruto'll get kicked around like a hackey-sack for a few chapters and then finish it all by flexing a toe and creating a giant Rasengan that eats half the universe before finally turning all 6 Peins into a giant Akatsmoothie. You know, the way Sasuke always does. -
Fun fact:
Mako-chan
appears as one of the chibis that pop up from time to time in the opening. Never payed enough attention to notice until someone pointed it out, but it's hilarious. Anyway, this show is great. I love how Sense and Ninomiya-kun are in everything, I love Chiaki's scathing sarcasm and Kana. Just Kana. Everything about her. I don't even know why. It's amazing. And that's all I have to say about that. ... Chocolate?

Manga Naruto Manga [Warning: Spoilers]
The Spectacular Professor replied to Ryo the Tactician's topic in Otaku Central
Oh, and considering how the Hatchibi is supposedly less than a step behind the Kyuubi in terms of strength, ability and outright raw power, Kishi has also basically nerfed Yondaime to the point of being equal to if not below some punk emo kid with a though process more corrupted than North Korea's government. That's what you get for God-modding a kid into being able to do what it took an entire village's resources and the sacrifice of their leader to do by quite literally batting an eyelash. -
Manga Naruto Manga [Warning: Spoilers]
The Spectacular Professor replied to Ryo the Tactician's topic in Otaku Central
I really don't get why all you guys are getting so pissed with Naruto lately. As far as I'm concerned, Kishi has always had characters pull random super-power moves out of nowhere to get themselves out of trouble/obtain a cheap and quick victory. Just so happens that now it's a character you don't like doing it, get over it.
The main difference here is the fact that Amaterasu, which is pretty much what did Hatchibi in, wasn't even officially mastered by Sasuke yet. Itachi basically installed it as a defense mechanism from Madara. Couple that with the fact that all four of them were completely screwed 15 seconds prior, Karin is still alive, Sasuke's revenge plot that defies every conceivable form of logic Mankind has ever come up with, Karin is still alive, Suigetsu jumping from Captain Obvious to Gibberish King every other line, Karin is still alive, Juugo not realizing that Sasuke is probably the reason his friend is dead, Karin is still alive, Naruto's Sage Training probably won't do anything but update his stupid Rasengan for the eleven billionth time, Karin is still alive, most of the tolerable characters are dead, Karin is still alive, bizarre racist undertones, Karin is still alive, tentacle monsters and Karin is still alive, and we have a crapload of incredibly bad writing that's been accumulating for a couple of years now, it seems. So in conclusion, we're not complaining just now. It's been building up for a while now and it basically just gets worse with each chapter. Only reason I'm still reading is because I enjoy making fun of it every week. Kind of like Joe Mathlete's Marmaduke blog. Gives me something to vent my frustrations on while at the same time sharpening my wit. P.S.: Karin sucks. -

The Spectacular Professor replied to Ryo the Tactician's topic in Otaku Central
I have to admit Ace, as much as a I agree with a lot of what you've said, that reference the Raikage made to the Hyuuga clan on page 13 really caught my eye. [Edit] Just realised that probably refers to the incident where Hinata was kidnapped as a child and Neji's father died in his brother's place. That of course and we're finally getting a meeting of the Kage Rangers, it'll be interesting to see Tobi make an appearance there under his Mizukage guise.
Yeah, I probably should have touched on that one. I just figured that we already knew about it. -
Manga Naruto Manga [Warning: Spoilers]
The Spectacular Professor replied to Ryo the Tactician's topic in Otaku Central
Chapter 417 It should be noticed that the Raikage's face looks like a piece of cardboard with features drawn on. Maybe he's related to Zabuza's sword. The chapter begins with Fukusaku playing wak-a-moron again. Naruto asks why he can't just carry the oil into battle. Fukusaku explains that it'll evaporate as soon as he leaves Toad Land's climate. Personally, I think it'd be pretty impractical to strip down to your boxers and lather yourself in oil before every battle. But hey, I don't know how Ecchi physics work. Anyway, Fukusaku drags him off to some new place for some reason I don't really care about. Now they are sitting on square stone tiles balanced on spikes. Naruto, of course, falls off. Fukusaku catches him with his tongue. I wouldn't have. You don't know where that kid's been. Apparently you need to hold perfectly still in order to absorb natural energy. Cut to the other, more I HATE THEM ALL crew. Apparently, they left Suigetsu's sword behind. Also, Karin has a ponytail, which defiles everything I love about ponytails. And a miniskirt, which is telling me that Kishi needs to stop what he's doing and have someone hit him over the skull with a frying pan. Anyway, apparently Sasuke now has a new power capable of destroying Konoha. And he enjoys spilling booze on wooden crates. Oh, his eyesight is getting messed up. Couldn't have happened to a more deserving person. Suddenly, Karin's chakra senses tingle. Apparently someone from Cloud Land is actually doing their job. Of course, he's surrounded by these children in mere seconds, as usual. Cut to Akatsuki, they're waiting for Pain to start the exorcism. Cut once again to Cloud Village. Raikage's aide (who is also black, btw,) has arranged for four teams to rescue KillerBee and beat the crap out of Hawkatsuki, all of whom are likely destined to get owned by some improbable cop-out. Raikage is mad at Konoha for not doing their job and killing Sasuke when they had the chance. Know what, dude? So am I. Life sucks. Deal with it. They then find out that their tracker has gone AWOL. Now a full-on assault is happening. Three new characters. Omoi, Karui and the unnamed only white person in the entire village. Figures. The white lady has knockers, and Omoi is quick to point that out in the most vulgar way possible. They're off to answer the Raikage's summons and I'm off to get this horrible taste of Naruto out of my mouth. The end. -
So, the final Gurren Lagann Parallel Works was released today and it by far made up for 7 (seriously Gainiax, what the hell was that). I really don't want to spoil too much of it, but all you need to know is that it shows the back story of Lord Genome. So go watch it, like now. I lol'd hard at boota-Guame
Yeah, 7 was lame.
Ace, I really love Baron Lupus von Kessler but I think that he would make a great mentor for the characters to meet in the story as opposed to an enemy. What do you think? Something about a wise old wolf running illegal alchemic experiments in a cave in the middle of nowhere just screams mentor.
Hmm. Actually, I kind of like the idea too. If at all possible though, I think it would be great if we still have some kind of tension. Maybe those dietary rumors keep someone up at night or something.
