1. I like them all, really. Gun to my head, though, I think it's a tie between Fluttershy and Rarity right now.
  2. I mostly just quoted you for context, Beth. Anyway, my piece has been said and I'm ready to move on.
  3.
By the way, watched episode 21 today... I got a bit of a Pocahontas feel from it, I don't know why. But the way the chief and Applejack's cousin fought with each other just reminded me of the "Savages" and theeeeee... Spanish? Or were they English? They didn't really sound either or look either. -shrugs-
British colonials. Pocahontas is a notoriously historically inaccurate movie, so I'm not surprised you couldn't quite place the accents. I'm pretty sure one guy was inexplicably Scottish. But yeah, Native American property rights are a pretty common theme in the US. Tends to still be a touchy subject to this day, so a lot of fiction picks up on that and draws parallels. James Cameron's Avatar is a notable recent example. I liked this version of the conflict more for a couple of reasons, though. 1: The Settler Ponies clearly had just as much use for the land as the Buffalo did. In most versions, the settlers just take the land for some mineral resource that doesn't perform any practical function except look shiny, which pretty much makes them unsympathetic by default. The Settler Ponies needed the land for their apple orchard, which is their primary food source. This way, they have just as much need of the land as the Buffalo, who were there first and have more right to it by default. 2: The resolution seen in this episode is about the only way you can end this particular commonly used plot without accidentally implying that the Settlers all went home, brought back several thousand soldiers and massacred the Indians into submission through superior firepower (the way it historically happened). With this compromise, everyone is allowed to co-habitate the prairie and there's no further need for conflict.
  4.
While this is true, I'm fairly certain attempting (poorly) to guilt-trip people into either testing out said item or shutting up about not liking it is both the complete wrong way to get them interested in the series and entirely disingenuous since it's patently obvious that anyone who likes it is incapable of shutting up about it for long enough for anyone else to bear getting into it.
I'm not trying to guilt-trip anyone. If you don't want to watch the show, I don't care. I just find it a little rude to act like not wanting to give this thing a chance somehow makes you better than those who have watched it and liked it. And I recently have been trying to tone down the level of my hype in places not specifically meant for it. I tend to become a bit over-enthusiastic for a while after newly becoming a fan of something, but typically it dies down after the first week or so. As far as I can tell, this is actually pretty common, but I'll go ahead and apologize for the early-stage fanboying of late.

It's like a disease, Chee. :p I'm not a fan myself but I know plenty of people who are.
yeah, though that disease will never reach me for i am immune :D
You know, all joking aside, guys, I appreciate differing opinions and all. I know not everyone's gonna like what I like, and I think that's fine, because a world full of me would be boring and creepy. At the same time, though, I do think it's a shame when someone just up and decides that they refuse to give a decent work of fiction a chance. And I know you don't mean it that way, but look at it from the creator's perspective. You spend years toiling and laboring over this one project of yours in the hope that folks will enjoy it, and people just ignore it as soon as they see the pink horse on the cover. Seems a little unfair, don'tcha think? Just something to ponder.
I'm allowed to talk because I actually did suffer through the first Twilight movie.

  6. This is a brilliant work of satire! It's our new favorite show!

  7. It's a funny, smartly-written show with strong female protagonists and surprisingly effective monsters. It also helps that they at least attempt to be subtle about the obligatory weekly moral. It's also worth mentioning that Lauren Faust brings a lot of the style of humor that made Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home popular, and the writers and animators actually slip in frequent nods to the /co/ fanbase, such as slipping Derpy Hooves into the episodes and making Spike an obvious surrogate for all the dudes in the audience. In summary, it's a decent cartoon that the creators put a lot of love and effort into and as a result, anyone can enjoy it even though it's marketed primarily to the demographic that TV executives decided they could sell literally anything to ages ago. I want to be an animator myself some day, so I can only hope that some project of mine will ever be half as good as this show.
  8. Hey guys. I made this. Just. For. You. You're welcome. Good night.
  9.
I'm sad that my main uploader got deactivated, but whatever. I was very interested to see how they'd animate the buffalo in this episode and I'm happy they did such a great job of it! I have to admit that Little Strongheart's looong, baby buffalo legs got on my nerves a bit. I've no idea why though! D:
I think it's because her design was just nonstandard. We're used to seeing ponies, so even the normal characters all look alike to some degree, and Princess Celestia still bears the same basic shape as the others, but this is the first time we've seen buffalo at all. It's offset for the most part by seeing so many at once, but Little Strong Arm just looks so different from the rest of her species that it's harder to ignore. Kind of like Applejack's dog in "Applebuck Season". It was cute, but it looked a little out of place. I blame its eyes.
  10.
Uh, these ponies do not look like ponies to me. They look like mishapen and melted Barbie dolls. I thought they should at least look a little like horses!
...Eh, the appeal's gone. I'm gonna go play pokemon.

An animal glue is an adhesive that is created by prolonged boiling of animal connective tissue. Stereotypically, the animal in question is a horse, and horses that are put down are often said to have been sent to the "glue factory".
We are Bronies. We are legion. Expect us to forgive and forget, because holding a grudge is a hindrance to friend-making.
  12. Impressions on episode 21: - Pony racism, but on an even grander scale! Yay! - Pinkie Pie's song in this one has made several thousand furries far happier than any of them have a right to be. - This is probably the first story featuring conflict between a Native American analogy and an Anglo Settler analogy where more than three of the obvious stand-in white dudes aren't out and out bastards. It's refreshing, really. - It's nice to get some focus on Applejack and Rainbow Dash again. Much as I love Rarity, she'd been in the spotlight for two episodes in a row already, so I don't mind her being a little less involved in the plot of this one. Overall, very fun. Next week is a Fluttershy episode.
  13. Remember that scene from the Great Mouse Detective where they go to the bar and they see the mouse striptease show? I think that just happened on My Little Pony.

      Felix the Cat

I agree with Applejack's Cousin and the Buffalo Leader though, it was the worst song in My Little Pony yet.

My favourites so far: Evil Enchantress - Fluttershy and Hush Now, Quiet Now by Sweetie Belle.

Not sure on the second one.

  17. The Friday song is so terrible that I'm convinced that it was made popular by people going "OH MY GOODNESS THIS IS THE MOST TERRIBLE THING DON'T BELIEVE ME JUST WATCH IT". Seriously, folks. If you find something that honest-to-goodness sucks and doesn't even have any value as snark bait, keep it to yourself.

  21. This took way too long. I tried adding borders, but they just kind of clashed with the color scheme. Too much PANK. And sorry about the watermark in the banner. I swear the only way to get a good macro font is an online generator or by buying Photoshop.

  23. Ponies will not be a writing category. In fact, there probably won't be any ponies. However, participation in this competition would certainly please any theoretical ponies were they indeed involved.
