Haven't read this year's installment yet. If it happened, they'd probably start with either Redwall, Mossflower or Martin the Warrior, though Taggerung would indeed be awesome.

My DS has had Digimon World: Dusk stuck in it of late. It's actually pretty fun. Kind of like Pokemon if you bar the fact that you can have 3 mons on the field at once, the storyline actually involves complexity, and Digimon is better by comparison ( I still like Pokemon, though.)

Okay, this just occurred to me, but Three Musketeers has Shonen written all over it. Swords, French guys in frilly costumes, cute girls, awesome villain, it has everything. I demand an animated series. Someone make it happen.

Therefore, there is very little standing in the way of an anime becoming extremely popular just from one country. Also, many anime do not do well in translation due to cultural differences and Japanese puns. Our Crayon Shin Chan is basically not the same show as the Japanese version. Furthermore, anime dubs do not instantly make an anime popular. Like it or not, The entire shonen genre today revolves around that puppy. I, for one, would be minus one favorite series (Toriyama was Oda's idol and inspiration. Without Dragonball, One Piece wouldn't exist.) Naruto fans, same thing. Bleach? Hunter X Hunter? Most of Watsuki's stuff? You bet. Long and short is, Shonen wouldn't be nearly the same right now if Akira Toriyama hadn't stepped into the ring.
