Wow... Personally, I've never listened to them and I don't plan on it. However, I have heard Miley Cyrus and that was enough for me to disown the Disney Channel permanently. (In my already struggling relationship) It's all a business and don't think for one second that Disney doesn't expect these teen-idols to become burn-outs. They're only capitalizing on their fame right now. (Which is only generated from young children, who actually prefer generic vocals and music as opposed to actual musical talent) When the time comes, a new idol will pop up and these guys won't even be remembered by the general population. Don't trust Disney. They'll step all over whoever it takes. Even if means ruining a very slight chance at a great career. But hey, in about 10 years, Miley and the Jonas Bros. will be all over VH1's, "Best of the 2000s" and then we can all laugh at the jokes made at their expense and say, "I told you so." Perhaps the most aggravating aspect to Disney fame is that you can't escape it. It's even on freakin' JC Penny commercials. (Which floods the TV box-thing right now to prepare for back-to-school) It wouldn't be as bad if I didn't have to see them. They're not worthy to be recognizable. :p
It doesn't make any sense to believe that any of those videos were real. The first one required only a malnourished actor and a pair of special contact lenses.
Which was exactly what it was... I've seen that on a gag website dedicated to making prank videos used to scare your friends... I forgot what it was called or I would give a link. Needless to say, I was fooled at first, but after researching the site, I found that I had been duped. :animesigh The Montauk Monster: I didn't see any hair or teeth... To me, it really did look like a turtle that was out of its shell. Oh well though, I don't believe in the supernatural.

Kicking the Bucket: My Most Gruesome Thread Yet
Darren replied to Lunar's topic in General Discussion
I would definitely want to know... I want to do so many things before I die and knowing when that would happen would let me know if I need to hurry up... Of course, I would also be thinking in the back of my mind if I could prevent it. (And then I would probably die because I was trying so hard to prevent it. :p Paradoxes suck) Best way to die? Definitely not of old age. But definitely not anything that would drag out like cancer or something. And nothing really painful either. (So burning is out) I guess a car crash is acceptable. (Granted that I'm killed on impact) Is it too much to ask to live forever? :animecry: -

Jamie wondered if he could even begin to explain the aliens. There was a tight rumble as the escape pod thrust into space, but it was enough for Jamie to become light headed. The noise the pod made when one of the release clamps was forcefully pulled free frightened most of the passengers, but even the girl seemed to be handling it better than the reporter. "We were right," Zahir spoke up, as if his words confirmed the fact that nothing would go wrong, "The clamp was pulled free. So now we just have to get to the Von Braun." He makes it sound so easy. The outpost and the Von Braun rarely experienced any kind of turbulence, but when Jamie found himself on smaller crafts, such as this tiny escape pod, he couldn't help but lose control. He wanted to open his eyes, but was too afraid of staring into space. Damn, why am I like this? He felt sick. Carefully opening his eyes when he was sure his gaze was on the floor, Jamie placed his head between his knees and began breathing heavily. Of course, it didn't work for long due to the pod's regular shifts and bumps as the pod somehow navigated toward an unknown abyss. "You need to take your mind off of it," Katelyn was sitting across from him, and seemed to forget that if one little mistake was made, they would all die violent deaths. "Sit up Jamie," Alex said, grabbing his shoulder and pulling him upright, "We're representing the Herald on this trip and you're embarrassing me." Jamie caught a glimpse of the escape pod and the worried expressions of the other passengers. That's reassuring, he though, and moved to return to his cowardly position but Alex's grip was strong. "Have you thought any more about what we're going to do when we get back on the Von Braun?" he asked. "Never leave the ship again until we get back to Earth." "Oh, come on King, don't be such a wimp," Alex held a tone that wasn't helping him at all. He lowered his voice so the rest wouldn't hear, "I was referring to the pictures." Of course Jamie knew what he was talking about. He looked over at his partner. It was a type of signal the two had developed over the years which told him that he had thought about it. Alex nodded his head slightly and widened his eyes as if to say, "And?" Jamie looked around the escape pod, pausing on each of the passengers to tell Alex that he planned on giving the copies to one of them. Whichever one could hold they're secret. Alex furrowed his brow slightly, wondering if that's the best choice of action. But a stern glare from the photographer meant that there wasn't any other way he could think of. Then he mouthed the word, "Who?" but Jamie shook his head. He hadn't gotten that far in his plan. Obviously it had to be someone on the escape pod with them. But after that, he wasn't sure who was the best to trust, if any of them were worthy at all. "Hey look, there's the Von Braun," Katelyn shouted, the rest of the passengers applauded or let out some sort of celebratory cheer. I guess all I have to do was get my mind off of it after all he thought, thinking of the young girl's words. And that's when Katelyn caught his attention. Could she be the best choice? A girl? "Let's talk about it later," the photographer said as though it were an answer to Alex's previous question; the rest of the passengers were completely clueless. "Now all we have to do is dock with the ship and this whole thing will be behind us." Victor sounded confident in his statement, but it appeared the rest were uncertain. Easier said than done.

Gosh, Prem... You dream about getting raped alot. :smirk: Anyway, I had another falling dream! Only it was different! (Yay me) Me and my family were in a car. And we were driving some really curvy roads up in the ozark mountains. And as we turned a corner, there was a big semi in our lane, so we had to swerve into the left lane, but he still managed to scrape our car and we spun out, passed the guardrail and was balancing on the corner for a while. It was a long drop down. And then, inevitably, we tumbled forward. The last thing I remember was this crushing feeling and the breath being taken out of me. When I woke up, I couldn't breath either. I wonder if, now that I've talked about it, I'll be having falling dreams a lot? That would suck.

No, seriously: I can literally only do half of the things up there (12 out of 24) The rest either don't apply, requires talents (or a very messy entry) that I don't possess, or I don't know how to do. And what do you mean you expect more? I'm only just now venturing out of my hole in the theatre... I've only been here for two years. (With a pretty big hiatus in there somewhere)

Well it seems to be the easiest one to complete in my opinion. Some of those things I don't have a clue on how to do it... Perhaps you should shift around some of the squares after each bingo, instead of coming up with something entirely new.

Click So, at first I thought you might change the bingo card after someone wins once, but since you haven't, I'll assume my anthology critique will still apply. (Granted that you deem it worthy)

I like it. I'm definitely still interested and I got a Cloverfield vibe at the end of this chapter. Very nice. But I do agree with you, this chapter seemed to be lacking in something. Maybe because it was focused more on Dan and Jonny. Even though it's told from Scott's POV, I just felt like there wasn't enough of his personal emotions. (Of course, I don't blame you. I mean he was drunk, and it's very difficult to portray two new characters like that while balancing you're character in the 1st person) But I like the flow of this story so far... It's gone from a dramatic breakup and arced into something entirely different, but equally interesting... And I am curious about what's going to happen. The only problem I had was this:
That was the last thing I remembered of the night Ellie left me.
Okay that's fine, but then you said this:
My memories of any of the previous day were hazy at best, but from late afternoon onwards they became totally incomprehensible. The alcohol I had imbibed had not only suppressed my memories of getting drunk and the actions I had carried out whilst drunk, but it had also robbed me of my memories of the rest of the day as well.
The two quotes seems to be contradicting each other so I don't quite understand what you meant, but that's a smaller detail of the story anyway. (Or is it?) But overall! Great story so far, and I'm very curious as to what happens next!

Well I haven't had one that I remember in such a long time. And the one's from quite a while ago are too, uh, "dark" for me to discuss. But I remember that before I went skydiving, I had a dream that I would pull the ripcord to deploy the parachute and I would somehow fall out of the harness... I don't know how, but I kept falling. Actually, a lot of my bad dreams involve me falling from high places. It's strange that I'm obsessed with skydiving now. Just this morning, I had a dream that I was skydiving, and my parachute just didn't deploy, but that wasn't exactly terrifying because I woke up before it became too dramatic. Plus, I know a decent amount of skydiving stuff to know that the likelihood of that isn't great. Other than that, my nightmares mostly consist of my friends and family dying. Usually, I don't die, but that happens occasionally as well. (Not actually dying. I always wake up just before) And I hardly ever remember any of my other dreams... Sad, huh?
-
Um... Okay? I guess I can post, I just thought that you would cover that as the next landmark... Because I virtually have no knowledge of how something like that would occur. I just want to refrain from sounding any dumber than I already do... I vote DeLarge does it!
Kansas is pretty neutral in terms of regional accent or slang, which makes it all the weirder when I hear someone saying the one genuine oddity that I'm familiar with here, "warsh" (in place of "wash"). Quite often I'll hear someone conversing like a completely normal, competent person, and suddenly when they mention that they have to go home and "WARSH some clothes," it's like a thick-browed, overall-wearing redneck just jumped out of their mouth and sucker-punched me. What the hell?
Haha! I know exactly what you mean! Another Kansas thing is pronouncing the Arkansas river like [Are]Kansas instead of how it's meant to be. That bugs the crap out of me, but that could just be a state pride thing that caught on.

Both Resident Evil references. Old and New: 1. If you save a wild wolf, it will be eternally indebted to you and will come back to help you out when you need it most. 2. All rich people have elaborate puzzles or keys hidden in secret places, just to get to the next room in their mansions.

Being raised in Oklahoma, I get funny looks every time I say "You guys" as opposed to "Y'all" or "I'm not" as opposed to "I aint".... I used to say that when I was little and first moved to the area, but as soon as I reminded myself that it was very (how to say this nicely) country, and gramatically incorrect, I trained myself not to say it. Also, I'm the only one in my family who kept my Kansas accent. Probably a sign of my rejection from "country" culture. So even though it's not slang, I still get weird looks when I speak without a "country" accent.
Maybe the same people who say "pop" instead of soda?
I'll have you know, all of my family from Texas says pop, and everyone I know says pop. (And Oklahoma isn't that far north of Texas) I think it's more of a Western states thing. My brother said that when he was a basic training in California, everyone made fun of him for saying pop, and that's the first time I had ever heard of the majority saying soda... So, who knows.
In this case, sadly the majority of politicians are narrow minded idiots who are threatened by the idea that someone who is gay is actually normal.
I don't think most politicians can even think for themselves. I think they're just trying to protect their job. And if they think they have the majority's backing (which in this case, I would say they do) then they would be all for it if it meant another term in office.

It is a bit strange, but oh well. If they can have a child, let them. I mean the guy still has a uterus so nature allowed them to give birth. The only thing I have a problem with was the fact that the media had a field day with the story. "Man has baby." Under normal conditions, everyone would be like "WTF?" But then once they find out the details, they're like, "Okay, it's a woman, who wanted to be a man, but decided to be a woman again for 9 months..." MAKE UP YOUR MIND! But it's hard for a GLBT couples to adopt, so I can sympathize with what they were doing as well. All in all, I really don't think it's that big of a deal. Essentially, it was a woman (who looked like a man) who had a baby. Not a big deal. But no, to answer your question, I'm not repulsed or disgusted by the news. Just indifferent. And I'm kinda wondering how that child is going to be raised. I wonder if his/her parents will tell them. Could you imagine when the kid finds out that a baby is normally born from the mommy?

I like Daft Punk in phases. Usually, I'm not a big fan, but I randomly crave a bit of techno-esque music... One day, on a spur of the moment, I went out and bought the DVD "Interstella 5555" It's a little cheesy, but fun to watch when I'm in the mood. :D So yeah, there okay in moderation.
I got this from browsing Sara's thread on music recs- Ray LaMontagne's Hold You in My Arms is such a wonderful and romantic song. :) It's just simple and sweet but incredibly sad, it's my new favorite song.
You're welcome... :p Actually, my current interest is Anthony Green I can't explain why I like him, but I've been hooked ever since the early days of Circa Survive when they released The Inuit Sessions. After that, I attempted to find as much from him as possible. (And there is a lot of it) He was the original singer for Saosin, (even though I still hate them, they were a lot better back then) then he played for Sound of Animals Fighting, and a lot more. (As well as doing to the back-up vocals for a lot of other bands like The Spill Canvas and Say Anything) I've pretty much been listening to his entire musical career (or as much of it as I can find on the internet) for the past few days in order to prep for his first full-length solo album, Avalon! I'm pumped for it, and I can already tell it's going to be good, just from the single that was released. :)
My question about the e-mail is why would people take that seriously instead of seeing it as a possible prank? Perhaps I'm missing something but I'm not seeing a reason why my character would do anything with it other than to delete it.
I completely understand. Your character seems more level headed than most of them, so it makes sense that you would be struggling to figure it out. I'm not even sure why my character is going other than the fact that I wanted to for the sake of the story... *runs off to check what P.J. said in his post* Nope, no help. I'll just pretend that he wants a chance to test out his other possible vaccinations against the nasties and he doesn't want Martin to get himself killed. I mean, all of the hunters pretty much know it's a trap. They just don't care. Err, maybe it's because they're all a bit psychotic after hunting for so long.. :animeswea I don't know, but I'm sure you could come up with something.

I think bacon's disgusting. Then Again, I'm not big on pork. So... Oh well.

Anything and Everything! We seriously have no food in our house most of the time. So I'll snack on whatever I find that's edible and doesn't take too long to make. Strangest thing I've ever found and randomly eaten: Fondant Icing But I prefer chips or cereal.

I don't think I could ever decide... It has to be an exceptional movie, which really applies to any genre... I definitely like Sci-fi/fantasy movies a lot just because that's where my aesthetic interests lie. But maybe, because I love that genre so much, I'm too picky to like anything. My most recent favorite movie is Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I also like Cry Wolf, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Donnie Darko, Reservoir Dogs, and many more...

I'm not certain about this because it's all from my personal experience. Military people tend to have a certain mentality. They're trained with it. It's what they know. It's like a brotherhood. They joke with each other, they joke about family, about gay people, about women they'd like to sleep with... Somewhat similar to a stereotypical high school jock only 10 times worse. It's the pig side of the male personality. And even if they don't agree with abusing (physically or verbally) they can't help it. It's what they were taught, and it's what everyone else is doing. (I know, this is starting to sound more and more like high school) I can't rationalize why they're like that, and I'm personally against DADT, but when you talk about changing it, you bring on a whole lot of crap that no one really deals with it. First of all, there's the issue of the military mentality. It's impossible to avoid when you get that many guys together and put guns in their hands. It only has to be brought up once, and they'll have a field day making fun of gays or whatever else is on their mind. But the big one is the excuse of religion. It will always be brought up as an obstacle to cross, and truth be told, it's one that the government refuse to cross. The most we can hope for is that once america becomes more understanding, (look at where the gay marriage stance is as a good meter of when that occurs) that it will be lifted. Bottom line: It's wrong, but there's nothing we can do to change people's mind. We can't program brains (Well, I can, but not on such a massive scale. :animesmil) so we have to wait.

I wish that I still had my sources for this topic, because it was quite popular for the national debate topic two years ago. But since I don't, I'll do my best to remember what those sources say. It really is a hard subject to talk about. First of all, there is evidence on both sides of the debate that backs up their arguments. Gays can technically serve in the military. They just can't admit to being gay. But on the other side, like you said, the DADT policy doesn't always work out. Military officers have said suspicions rise anyway (due to the way certain soldiers act) The DADT policy helps straight soldiers feel more comfortable when they have to sleep or shower next to a potentially gay man. Ignorance is bliss, is their policy. They also say that DADT is a way to protect the gay man because there have been reports of hazing and abuse to soldiers. (under suspicion of their homosexuality) In that case, who do you think the military will discharge? It will be the gay man because no matter how man straight soldiers you discharge, there will always be another prejudice hate monger who wants to beat the crap out of a man just because of his sexual orientation. However, on the other end of the spectrum, DADT is a loophole to the entire 1st amendment: You have freedom of speech, but you're not guaranteed that right in the military. Gay soldiers feel that to have to "Go back into the closet," so to speak, is a violation of the constitution. And, technically speaking, they're right. But here's how it is: Right now, we live in a homophobic country and I don't expect it to change any time soon. When you think about it, it's NOT necessary at all for other soldiers to know your sexual orientation. So why make them feel uncomfortable or bring about hate to yourself in the name of free speech. You should be in the military to serve your country. And there are a lot of other ways homosexual men can help their country. If pretending to be straight is too much for them, don't join.

Unfortunately, Inuyasha Fandom, the auditions for this RPG were closed by the creator over a week ago, and the RPG has already started. Please try to post in auditions threads that are open. Thanks! Thread Closed
