I wouldn't actually take my recommendation, 'cause apparently I listen to a pile of crap. But I like these songs so check them out if you want something a bit more... err... maybe gritty's the word?
You don't listen to crap. Of those songs, the ones that I've heard of are on my iPod. I like them very much!

"Yeah, yeah, where to there big boy?" Kazimir turned to Martin, who seemed pleasantly amused at his reaction. He knew very well that, besides occasionally hunting and going out to eat, Kazimir never left his home. "Alright alright. Home. I just thought you would be up for an adventure." He refocused his attention on the road, trying to seem as upset as possible. "I've got too much work to do." "Yeah? Like what?" "I've been analyzing a weiland for a couple days." "How the hell did you manage that?" Martin seemed surprised. "Those usually kill themselves before they would ever be caught by a hunter." "Believe me, after about 20 tries, the process became a little redundant." Kazimir was carrying his usual mocking tone that he often held with Martin, "But believe it or not, some hunters have skill." "Yeah, you keep telling yourself that," he said with a smile. It was always made painfully obvious early on in every conversation that they could never agree on anything. When they returned to Kazimir's headquarters, Martin invited himself in, as usual, offering to help him with whatever he needed. When is this bum going to leave? he thought to himself, but agreed anyway. They spent most of the morning analyzing the weiland's calf bone. Or rather, Kazimir analyzed. Martin was dozing in and out of sleep while he took up working space. After a few hours, when Martin finally woke up and decided to help, they managed to create a series of 10 serums based on the new black substance that was found inside the wraith: Series - NWSA 2200 "I've got a good feeling about this." Martin said. "Go back to sleep. You don't even know what it's supposed to do." "Sure I do." He argued, but stopped for a while, thinking of the correct thing to say. "Make it unweiland-like?" "No. I don't pretend that I'll ever be able to change it with one try. Or 22 for that matter. But this is the first one that I've met with that black substance on its bones. And if my guess is right, that's what kept this wraith from killing himself like the others try to do when you capture them." "So, Kaz, what exactly are you trying to accomplish here?" "Well, if this mutation occurs on a large scale or even inter-species, then hunters everywhere are going to be screwed." "So you're only trying to change it back into a normal weiland?" "Exactly." Kazimir finished mixing the final vial. The two moved into the area encircled with plastic sheets. Martin set up the camera, while Kazimir prepared the serum. It was now in a large syringe. "Whoa. What's the giant needle for?" He said. Kazimir ignored him, seeing that the record light was on, "This is Salvage458 with witness, Bruiser267. I'm updating you on the suggested mutation occurance in the wraith population. I've received several comments from my last video about other odd occurrences among many different species of inhumans. I have developed a serum that will hopefully nullify the effects of the black substance found on Weiland - 22." He approached the cold metal table and pointed to the Weiland's rib cage. "As many hunters are familiar with, the only set of bones in a weiland's body are its rib cage. They protect the heart and I need this," he said, pointing to the large needle, "In order to inject it directly into the heart." "Well this should be interesting." Martin said from the side, receiving a sinister glare from the czech. "Class NWSA, Series 2200, test subject number one." He rattled off almost through sheer habit as he raised the syringe high enough to gain some momentum on the downfall. When the needle hit, the weiland didn't move much. It didn't even scream out. Possible paralyzing effect," Kazimir suggested to Martin and the camera. He grabbed his autopsy knife and began cutting the weiland's other calf in order to actually see if the black material was fading. Again the weiland didn't scream. Upon first glance, he saw the material squirm, as though it were some kind of symbiotic parasite for inhumans. He grabbed the camera to let his audience see just was happening. It seemed to fade a bit, surpassing even Kazimir's expectactions. But suddenly, it went terribly wrong. The Weiland burst into a brilliant display of purple flame. It started from the heart and quickly traveled throughout the rest of the body. It had only been five seconds before the weiland was a pile of ash. Disappointment washed over Kazimir with such unsatisfactory results. Removing his surgical mask, he said, "NWSA - 2201 is a failure. Salvage458, out." He gave the camera to Martin and left him with the task of uploading the video. After all, the man had just said that he hardly ever got on hunter-net any more and was itching for a little excitement. Kazimir on the other hand, felt it was his duty to clean up. After he had collected some of the weiland's ashes for analyzation, the swept all the rest into a trash sack and took down to the basement. Before he even had a chance to get back up to his apartment, Martin burst through the door: "Kaz, hurry up. You're not going to believe this."
Adoption...how can you guys be so insensitive as to say that to a guy who has never really met his real parents...that's just mean, besides her mother already suggested that and she nearly got her head chewed off.
I'm not trying to persuade you one way or the other at this point. I know you've pretty much made up your mind (and it's for that reason, that I'm surprised you came to us for advice to begin with) and I'm happy that you have decided to talk to someone who knows what they're talking about. I'm only trying to point out what you might have overlooked. There is a such thing as open adoption. It's usually for people who know they can't take care of their child, (for whatever reason) but don't want to be excluded entirely from their lives. It's a much more common thing nowadays. But since you seem to have your head on straight, I won't say anything more. Have fun. :animesmil

:animesigh Unfortunately, I'm reading this book called Change of Heart by Jodi Picoult... My mom's making me... :animedepr "Why," you may ask. Well, I agreed to read one of her books if she would read The Kite Runner. But, in my mind, that's a totally unfair trade! The Kite Runner is a GREAT book, but my mom just doesn't have great taste in literature. At first she tried to make me read something by Danielle Steel and I was like "HECK NO" So then I settled on this book because she promises me that I'll like it. Anything is better than Danielle Steel. This book is about a mother of a 7 year-old who's husband gets killed in a car crash. She remarries a cop and gets pregnant. But the man who is renovating their house to turn it into a nursery supposedly kills both the cop and her 7 year-old. That man becomes the first death row inmate in (however long the book says) and 11 years later, he's finally set to be executed by lethal injection. But then the woman's new child needs a heart because there's something wrong with hers... So now, in order to atone for his actions, the death row inmate wants to be hanged instead so he can donate his heart to the girl. He starts performing all kinds of miracles and such in prison. (Kind of like the second coming of Jesus) It's not that I hate the fact that the target audience is more for women. Let's just say I'm open-minded about religion, but I don't believe in God, and this book is full of that. Furthermore, I can't help but hate some of the characters just because of the way they act... The mother is just so whiney, (I guess understandably) the priest is an annoying pest, the gay inmate is just boring me to death. (And constantly trying to justify killing his boyfriend) The only character I like in the book is the attorney who's trying to make sure he can be executed by hanging. She's funny. It's an okay book, but not one I want to continue reading. If anybody's read it, please tell me what happens so I can convince my mother that I've read it. :D

*Sniff Sniff* :animecry: I don't have a PS3 or X-Box 360! And this really sucks because I've been hooked on Soul Caliber ever since I had my Game Cube. (Simply because SC2 was one of the first games I bought) But since I've always been a Nintendo fan, I don't get to play 4. :( But I'm sure that I'll be inside Best Buy playing the game until they kick me out.
If you like the bands that Darren suggested, like REM, Damien Rice, Coldplay, (maybe even Radiohead), you'll probably like the band Wilco. Though I have to say Shame on You to Darren for reccing Damien Rice but excluding the songs The Blower's Daughter and Delicate. ;)
Actually, I thought about putting it up there... But I didn't want to go over the top with Damien Rice Fandom. (And to be honest, The Blower's Daughter is seriously my 4th fave after those three) But yes, Wilco would be good. I haven't listened to them in ages... Time to go listen. (And to Sara, I just noticed your signature... Haha, brilliant)

Damien Rice - Volcano, Cannonball, and Rootless Tree These are three of my all-time favorite songs. I don't know where my musical taste would be without Mr. Rice. I almost didn't pick up his CD because of one bad song. But, okay, I'm a sucker for lyrics, acoustics, and accents... Fortunately, the Irish singer mostly plays acoustic with absolutely brilliant lyrics. :D And if you're a Radiohead fan, he did a cover for Creep that gives me the chills every time I hear it. Elliott Smith - A Fond Farewell and Son of Sam IDK why I like him... Really all of his songs are great, but those are my favorites. I like his voice too! Iron & Wine - Boy With A Coin I love this band. Anytime I listen to them, I'm instantly calmed. The only downside: Most of their songs are indistinguishable. :( A lot of them sound the same, which is why I like Boy With A Coin. It's one of their most upbeat and different songs. It's just soothing music. John Vanderslice - Exodus Damage John Vanderslice is a great artist on his own. He resembles Damien Rice and Elliott Smith with his own folk twist on the music. (Plus his voice is way different) But this song always gets me because it's about 9/11. "So the second plane hit at 9:02 Saw it live on a hotel TV Talking on my cell with you..." It tends to be focused on rhyming... A lot, but it's such a beautiful song, I don't mind. (Also, be warned, the chorus is a bit strange) mewithoutYou - Messes of Men This is definitely one of the most unique bands I've ever heard, but I'll only recommend this one song for you because a lot of people don't like them... Pure and simple. The singer, Aaron Weiss, talks through a lot of his lyrics (not like William Shatner, he has melody. And he does sing) Last time I brought them up, I got bashed for liking them. This song alone has so many great lyrics in them. The entire album is about the singer's overcoming depression and thoughts of suicide. It's talking about the troubles he faces every day. The only bad thing about this song: It's over very quickly and then it goes into an instrumental "You caught me making eye At the other boatmen's wives And heard me laughing louder At the jokes told by their fathers. I'd set my course for land But you well understand It takes a steady hand To navigate adulterous waters." Paper Rival - Cassandra This song is the most contemporary-sounding of the group. They're a very indie band who has obvious influences from country (although they don't sound like country, so don't let that effect you at all) and folk music. In this song, you can definitely hear a bit of 60's influence in there. And the song is just pretty. It's about finding self peace. It's really good. If you like those, you should definitely look at some these too: Pedro the Lion R.E.M Neutral Milk Hotel Radiohead Ray LaMontagne Coldplay Rocky Votolato Rufus Wainright Sea Wolf Spoon Sufjan Stevens Rilo Kiley I basically pulled up the best from my iTunes list. I couldn't give explanations on all of them. (as you can see) Have fun listening!

Saying that MCR is responsible for teen suicide is like saying Marilyn Manson is responsible for Columbine... And anyone who makes those assumptions is very ignorant. It's ridiculous to even suggest. That being said, I can't deny the fact that MCR tends to attract the darker scene/emo kids. But that doesn't mean everone who listens to it is a scene/emo kid. I listen to them occasionally, (Mostly only "Ghost of You") and my music scene leans more toward Indie stuff. That doesn't make me emo. Just eclectic. And anyone who tells you they only listen to one kind of music is either a poser or simply uneducated. And when that's the case, well, you can't help but feel sorry for them.
I just realised that most of our male Hunters enjoy a healthy breakfast of beer. I wonder which is going to kill us first, the freaks or liver disease?
I noticed the same thing... But I didn't want to bring attention to the fact that we all have alcoholics on our hands. (Which is understandable, considering the circumstances) I've also noticed that they all like to smoke... I'll find a 1-up here soon, hehe.
Respectfully, man, that is possibly the most cynical, pessimistic, hopeless take on the situation I can think of.
Me? Cynical? Hmmm... I didn't really mean for the comment to sound like that, but then again, I was merely giving opinions. (Which was what the thread is for) And since you know I meant well even if it sounded pessimistic, why so angry? I've based my advice on what I've actually seen first-hand. And maybe it's pessimistic because I thought my brother's marriage would fail from the start. However, I believe it's better to be a realist rather than fill your head with fantasies. And if I implied a "What if it fails?" scenario, then I would say that equally implies a "What if it succeeds?" scenario. After all, only Lonely Fighter knows how the situation truly is. And if my measly comment could fill him with doubt about whether he loves her not, then he doesn't. I do know that of all the teen pregnancies that occurred in my brother's graduating class (there were four) they were the only ones to get married. They're also the only ones who aren't together today... If only I had some kind of statistic to show how many teen marriages actually work. Not that any of that matters anyway since, in my opinion, marriage was the least important thing (in my mind) that I apparently tried to give advice on.

Okay... *Few supportive pats on the back* This may not have happened directly to me, but let's just say that I became Uncle Darren at an age I was NOT expecting. My brother had his first kid when he was a junior in high school. He had his second just after he graduated high school. College is always an option! Don't let your having a child hinder you. There is so much financial aid and scholarships available if you want them. But knowing that you're a CNA, here's my next bit of advice: A CNA's pay is nice and all, but it's not enough to support a child. You should look into LPN classes. My mom works as a medical staffing administrator and you can get LPN schooling paid for by hospitals, if you agree to work for them up 3 years after your schooling. Basically: More pay, less grunt-work, and way more stability... It's always worth it to further your academic endeavors. Government aid will definitely help: WIC, Food Stamps, Medicaid, etc. You qualify for all of these if you're going to be filing independently for 2008. If not, then your parents, or her parents, or whoever should be able to help you out. The point is, if you're independent when you apply for these programs, you'll get more. (But I don't think you should take it all just because you can. Only take what you need) Lastly, I can't stress this enough: DO NOT MARRY HER! I know that some of the other members have suggested it, but this might not be the best option for you. I should know: My brother and his girlfriend got married briefly after they had his first-born, and they didn't even make it a full year. Now this could have something to do with how much they loved each other. (Because I've always thought his definition is more on the lust side) But just the same, having a child and trying to become an independent family is one of the most stressful things a young couple can go through. (Again, I've seen this first-hand) It's best to wait and see if you both still want to be together after the rough times are over. If you decide to get married afterwards, go for it. If you decide to split up, then you'll have had the child-rearing experience (and hopefully maturity) to know what to do next. Plus, you won't have to go through the annulment process.

I'm sure that to her, you changed as well, but you can't hold it against her. (As I'm sure she won't hold it against you) Anyway, this is somewhat included in your thread, "Growing Up." Change is a part of growing up, and accepting that change is equally as important.

Kazimir didn't bother to turn on his camera for the wolf's autopsy. It wasn't necessary since he couldn't save the poor creature. But he hoped to learn as much as he could about this wolf. Especially why it was away from the pack. He knew from experience that Martin cleaned up well and if there was more than one werewolf, Kazimir would have them on a table next to this one. He took hair samples, blood samples, urine samples, and skin samples. He collected the brain, (and could only imagine how the sickening noise had effected Martin) and most of its organs before finishing the autopsy. He deemed that the female became injured while on a hunt and her pack had abandoned her. This probably wasn't the normal case for werewolves, but living in an urban area, most monsters adopted the method of leaving the injured. Kazimir figured that she had wandered into town in the confusion. Which was where Kurt had found him... Kazimir wrapped her up in a plastic body bag and wheeled the body out to the service elevator. He took her down to the basement and threw her in the furnace that he had kept running on his own ever since he moved in. After the body had been disposed of, he returned to his makeshift headquarters and sat down at the computer. (it was 5:59 in the morning, after all) The Hunter-Net wasn't too active throughout the early morning hours except for a few vampire sightings and slays. He had a small portion of fan mail concerning his new weiland video. And only one new message: To: Archangel298 Subject: RE: New Inhuman Data Body: Unfortunately my policy is as follows: 1) Always take werewolves 2) Take other inhumans only under live conditions 3) Never take insects So while I would love to inspect this new monster that you've discovered, a dead subject will not aid me in my goal. Perhaps if you could tell me how you came across this new subject, it will aid me in finding a live subject. However, beyond that, I cannot accept the bodies. -Salvage458 He grabbed his usual breakfast from the fridge (a beer) before going to speak with Martin. The autopsy lasted three and a half hours. Bruiser was long asleep in the most comfortable chair in his "bedroom." Kazimir didn't even have a bed. He preferred to avoid the temptation of sleep. His dreams haunted him every time he closed his eyes. The sound of his popping bottle cap woke Martin. "You finish examining it?" He asked, rubbing his eyes. "Did you finish drooling on my chair?" Kazimir responded, lighting up a cigarette to accompany his breakfast. "Did you want a beer?" "No." The response was curt. Kazimir had forgotten that Martin quit drinking. "You should really consider getting a T.V." "I can't get cable, and the boring channels I get with an antennae only put me to sleep." "A radio?" He suggested. "I thought about it, but decided that music might put me to sleep. I need to stay focused anyway." "I know I've asked already," Martin began, "But when was the last time you slept?" "The last time I didn't have a subject to dissect or a hypothesis to test." "Which was?" "About eight days ago." Kazimir said, watching in amusement as Martin's mouth dropped. "It's not that bad. I've had several 10 minute naps here and there." He said that, reassuringly. "Doubt it." "So what about you, Martin? What have you been up to since our last big hunt?" He asked.

On the same note as Indi's, I was intending for Kazimir to be set away from the rest of the characters. (Entirely different cities) And so, if it's alright with P.J. McKrafty, I guess we're the only ones in our area... Or we could say that he traveled a long way to get to Kazimir.

So, since I'm replying to this, does that mean I get the space "Be the first to reply to a new thread" ???

I'm not even going to lie: It rocked! I do agree in saying that Bale is the best batman to date! (And I'm excited to see him play John Connor in the upcoming terminator) And no doubt, Ledger is the best Joker to date... His performance was so astonishing! (He was totally convincing as a bad guy without being over-the-top) He reminded me of Nicholson with a hint of that dude from "A Clockwork Orange" And I have to agree again: Batman and Robin was absolutely the worst Batman flick ever created!
The only part I didn't like was when Rachel died. And the way they just dismissed Two-Face in less than 30 minutes. Best part: Heath Ledger in a nurse's outfit! SO GREAT! Oh, and the malfunction he had with the explosion of the hospital...
One thing I might have missed though: Where was the dedication to Heath. This is his last full movie (assuming that they could still use him that other flick he had started when he died) But seriously... I didn't wait for the entire credits to roll, but I would have thought it was at the beginning. So tragic.
And everything on Disney Channel.
Correction: Hannah Montana, High School Musical, and the Jonas Brothers are killing Disney. (But they get good ratings, so it continues) And I agree with the rest: Pointless
Yeah, but I didn't include them mating with gigantic squids or blue spotted octopuses to form new and exciting strains of tentacle monsters that prey on Japanese schoolgirls and costumed superheroes. Just thought I would apologize to Zephyr for stealing your internet format type thing at the beginning. I liked it! So kudos to you ^_^ Anyway, Talon, if there's anything wrong with the post, (simply because I mentioned the black substance) let me know and I'll change it. Also, Engel, if I happened to falsely describe the Weilands, let me know and I'll take care of that as well.

User: Salvage458 Password: ******** Access to Hunters Network approved. Welcome, Salvage458 Kazimir scanned the new updates of Hunter-Net. It was almost ritualistic, as he did this every day at exactly 6:00am, 12:00pm, 6:00pm, and midnight. Just like clockwork. Perhaps it was the OCD talking, but coincidentally, there seemed to be most new updates around those times. He placed a cigarette into his mouth and lit it while clicking on a few topics he hadn't seen before. It was strange to think that there were so many hunters out there. And the fact that they couldn't take care of problems themselves was unfathomable. However, Kazimir did find a few topics interesting. (Most importantly the emergence of several new species of monsters. All of which seemed to have spawned within the past few months) He replied Haphazardly to a few of the new hunters, stating that if their instincts couldn't tell them how to kill something, they were up shit creek. (Or something along those lines) And then he replied to one of his old creed contacts, Ambrose499, who was currently working on an infestation of a new creature in Romania. Lastly, he looked in his contact list and saw that Shield223 had posted about a possible crawlers infestation, requesting help. "Fuck that." Kazimir took another long drag from his cigarette before putting it out in the ashtray. Bugs weren't his specialty. In fact, the Czech man hated bugs more than anything. Even regular bugs, let alone supernatural ones. "Besides," He continued speaking to himself, searching for excuses, "That was posted at 6:30. Those things are no doubt, very active at this late hour." Kazimir lit up another cigarette. He always had the tendency to chain smoke when he was 'operating.' His tank top was already covered in dark gray blood which the freak was releasing on contact. Kazimir put on his his rubber gloves and set up his tools after they had a chance to sanitize. He passed through plastic curtain in the center of his room, which he used to keep the blood from getting everywhere. After taking all the necessary precautions, (surgical mask, test subject's bonds tightened, subject sedated as much as possible, etc) he turned on the camera. "This is Salvage458 preparing to resume autopsy on live subject: Weiland - 22." This was how Kazimir had received his fame on Hunter-Net. He was the only member willing to post videos of freak anatomy and conduct extensive research on their body. This was, as the number suggested, Kazimir's 22nd Weiland autopsy. He wasn't as experienced in Weilands, but he figured they were just as worthy of salvaging as any of the freaks... Except the bugs. He continued: "Subject anatomy is... Typical." He sighed, removing his mask to take another drag from his cigarette. "Subject displays little signs of human-like existence. Bone structure seems to allow for rapid movement, common among Weilands." He took the dissecting knife from his tray of instruments and cut into the frail leg of the already cut-open creature. It writhed in, spitting up gray liquid every time it moved. "Subject seems to have a low tolerance for pain." he said as he peeled back the skin on it's assumed calf. "This is strange." Kazimir said as he pulled the bone out of the creature with little effort. A sickening crunch filled the air as the joints gave way. "Subject 22 seems to be missing the key component on the skeletal system that the prior 21 subjects have presented." Kazimir held the bone up to the camera. In the past, the Weilands skeletal system had a dark indigo liquid covering their leg bones. It was Kazimir's hypothesis that this was what caused them to move so rapidly. However, subject 22 had a black liquid covering it. It was different than the rest, but seemed to provide the same results. "Suggested mutation among the Weiland population. Further testing is needed to clarify. I will attempt to render a serum from this liquid and see if it's possible to save subject 22. Salvage458, out." He turned off the camera and finished his cigarette before leaving the autopsy area with the camera and the Weiland's calf bone. Just as he was uploading the footage to Hunter-Net, he received a phone call on his personal line; a number that only a handful of people knew, most of which were from his dying creed. "Salvage." he said. placing the bone on a table in the other room. "Kaz, it's Martin." Only one person had ever called him 'Kaz.' "What do you want Bruiser?" Bruiser267 was the only Defender that Kazimir kept contact with. Something about a special hunt that they both happened to be covering a few years back. It turned out to be so massive, it was still talked about on Hunter-Net. Their anonymity was kept, but it seemed to bond both of them for good. Even if neither one of them agree on anything. "I've got a present for you." He said. "Dead or alive?" "Burned to a crisp and shot in the head." "Call me when you've got something useful." Kazimir moved to hang up, but he heard Martin's voice. "I thought you of all people could appreciate a good werewolf." Kazimir paused. His specialty was werewolves. They were what took away his brother, and if he could find some way to atone for that, weather it be dead or alive, he would take it. "Male or female?" He asked. "Does it matter?" "Where? I'll come pick it up." "No need." Bruiser said, "I'm coming to you." And then he hung up. Just then, his computer beeped to inform him that the video had been uploaded to Hunter-Net.
Darren: First thing that came into my head was The Collector by Nine Inch Nails. I am the plague, I am the swarm... Hmmm. Wonder when the thread is going up. Any word, Talon?
Hmm. I don't listen to NIN, but I was thinking of a plague type of thing. I was even tempted to describe them as locusts, but decided on a less common, blood drinking insect. And the thread is up now.
-
Oh, my turn: The Swarm These nasty insects bear the resemblance to South American Kissing Bugs, and share the same temperment. They have a liking for human blood, but are especially fond of hunters and other supernaturals' blood. It starts out with one bug, known as the queen. She burrows into humans while they sleep. During that time, she uses the host as a breeding ground, using human organs for food. This allows for the swarm to take over their host's body and immerse themselves into society. When their host runs out of food and they can no longer sustain the rotten human sack, they go on a rampage, swarming any an all living things they can find. The downside: They share a collective mind. You can harm then with literally everything, but the attack is only successful if you take out the queen; kill her, kill all of them. Unfortunately, regular members of the swarm revive themselves, as long as the queen is still alive, and they will protect the queen at any costs.
