Wow... O_o I had no idea. I hadn't heard of it. (But I don't really get out much) I just don't have any words. It's terrible and embarrassing. I have to remain neutral on this. I think it's terrible that the Iranian president was the bigger man... But, then again, I can understand where the Americans were coming from. Still, if they invited him, but then did that... It's just wrong.

Here's my question: Do we earn life/death points while mentioning the immortals or do the points only apply for the mortal soul section of our post?

Telumas watched quietly for the most part. She was cool and calculating and only chose to speak when she found the most opportune time. Seeing that six of the "participants" had woken already, Telumas decided that it was her best chance to fully gauge her competition "It's the same speech with you every time, isn't it Celesta?" She spoke in the most kind voice a goddess of her stature could muster. The Goddess of life did not turn her head, but her eyes connected with Telumas. "There is beauty in life, yes. And to cherish that life for as long as fate would hold is also important. But to deny the aspect of a hunt is to deny the basic instinct of human, and even immortal, nature. "Do you imply that I do not respect the forces and powers of the other immortals?" "I merely mean to say that you let your emotions rule your judgement." This was a fact that Telumas had discussed with her brother on numerous occasions. Their distant relationship never stopped them from being honest. "You participated in this 'tournament' for reasons unknown to everyone but yourself. I participated for reasons everyone should know: The hunt. The several mellinia I've spent in the forests and jungles hunting, I've learned that only the strong survive. And I can think of no better challenge of strength and wit than a contest of hunting." "That is something you would admire." Raone said, quietly. There was resent in his voice and he did not wish to involve himself in his twin's affaris, but Telumas had no doubt that he was examining her every word and movement. She finished her conversation and turned back to the pool at the center. In the end, Telumas knew she had the upper hand. While beauty, life, and truth are important in the real world, this game is one of death and more importantly, a game of hunt. Surely the goddess wouldn't have trouble eliminating her enemies, catching the pray, and attaing the prize. Joe sat quietly on the porch with his wife, Cora. It was a past-time that Joe's father had shared with he and his wife, and one that Joe had shared with all three of his children. The two elderly folk were in matching rocking chairs, holding hands and watching the sun rise to the east. It's orange sliver was just beginning to peak over the neighboring houses, when Cora spoke. "So Papa, what've you got planned today?" She asked, taking a sip of her lemonade. "Oh Mama, the same as every other day." He gestured to a large wooden box sitting at the edge of the porch steps. It was another birthday for some youngster and it was his puppet routine that made their day. "Oh of course," she said sweetly and rubbed her husband's hand several times. "I think it's mighty sweet what you do for them kids." Joe leaned across his chair and kissed his wife on the cheek before standing to re-enter their home. "Can I get you some more lemonade, Mama?" "If you don't mind, Joe. I'll be right here when you get back." she said. "I know you will." and he opened the door to a strangely white room.

No, I have it. Crystal Clear, thank you. I was just unsure about whether the list would be public. But I suppose I could have just waited for the game to start before I started asking questions. Let the game begin, haha. It's cool that you remembered your mythology (Apollo and Artemis being twins, that is) And while I wasn't planning on Telumas being related to any of the other gods, it certainly makes for some interesting posts from the god's POV... :D

Yes, the fourth installment... But only my third time to participate. :p EDIT: And here's an important question... I realize that with this new system, you have your choice to shoot for death cards or life cards... However, what if you're the only one that aims for a life card and then your character dies? It would be obvious if he/she was revived... So how do you plan to correct such a scenario? Will we have the option to save our life cards for as long as we want, (or with some sort of restriction) or will there be some other option... I guess this all stems from the point system; it still confuses me. I'm sure I'll get it after it's started, but I'm just curious
What are you basing that on? Television? Or actual experience? How about some statics showing that cops really do say that in cases like this at the very start. No matter what people tell you... It is not required to read someone their rights at the moment they are arrested and detained. Focusing on that bit is meaningless in regards to what happened here. What's being investigated is more of whether or not the situation warranted such a response. Or rather such a forceful one. Though from what I've seen and read it did.
Well, if you must know: From personal experience. Not that I like to divulge much of my personal life besides funny humor and maybe a few tickets, (although I've only received 1) when my brother went through his "teenage rebellion" phase, there was more than one arrest made at my house. And not only that, I'll be the first to say that my distant relitaves are pretty trashy and are alwasy getting arrested... I may not have been there for the relatives, but I've heard the stories, and I've definately seen my brother arrested and hauled away kicking and screaming in the back of a police car, and and he was putting up more of a fight than this guy was, they still screamed his rights over his curses and such. And there was only two of them, so I doubt they needed all four to hold that tiny guy to the ground. (Especially since my brother was much larger than that kid) As for the procedure bit and what the cops did wrong: Once again, I'm basing that on personal experience since my city council took a vote last month on whether or not to fire the entire city police force... I don't think they did, but the basis for such a vote was on procedure among other things, and I did a bit of research whenever I saw that vote on the local news.
Honestly, Rach is right, try doing a search on the web about this to get a little more information. The police used a taser since he refused to quit resisting and simply leave. If he hadn't been such an idiot and simply let them escort him out of the area instead of continuing to squirm, they wouldn't have needed to taser his butt. This guy has a history of deliberately pulling stunts to get attention. If they fire two cops for dealing with a stupid little attention whore, then the real injustice is that the fool will have gotten the attention he wanted. Or rather he will have gotten away with it.
I believe I already addressed this:
There was even a point on a youtube video where he was completely still. (you can even see his hands behind his back. The cuffs aren't on yet, but still, he's on his stomach, hand's behind his back, not restisting) The only thing he was doing was screaming, "What did I do? What did I do? Why are you arresting me?"

But after that initial reaction, I spare him no pity. He was obviously just craving attention, and while I think the taser was a bit too far, (In fact the whole thing was too far, which goes back to the fact that the department's procedures are under investigation.) It's like I said, I bet the kid learned his lesson.
I was definately worried about having real photos instead of drawn ones, but I'm surprised at the outcome and I'm excited to see what comes of the Ragnarok... Hopefully third time's a charm...
Wrong, police do not have to read you your rights when you are arrested or escorted off a premises.
Okay, I'll give you that, but it's usually common for cops to read them their rights... Perhaps that's why the department's procedures are being investigated. Not just for the taser thing. And as I said, escorting him off the premisis is totally different. Of course there's no need to read him his rights if he's not being arrested, but they just sort of attacked him.
You agree with what the kid did in response? I can understand a guy doing something like that if those people were anything but cops. But considering they were cops i'd say he was a complete fool.
Okay, let me rephrase that: I agree with his initial reaction. If anybody, (I don't care who it is) comes up behind me and grabs me without know who it is, I'm going to pull away and freak out. Yes, it was pretty obvious the cops were behind him, but he wasn't looking at them when they grabbed him. I'm just saying it's human nature when people grab you like that. But after that initial reaction, I spare him no pity. He was obviously just craving attention, and while I think the taser was a bit too far, (In fact the whole thing was too far, which goes back to the fact that the department's procedures are under investigation.) It's like I said, I bet the kid learned his lesson.
Oh yeah, and for the record, campus police ARE real cops. And by campus I mean college. Those officers on your high school campus aren't.
Well actually, the guy that sits in his little cop car outside the school making sure no one leaves campus without permission is a real cop... At least the one at my school is. We joke around calling him a rent-a-cop, but he has a gun, a badge, his academy diploma, he does regular locker checks for drugs, and he's there to escort anyone who's been in a fight off to jail... But maybe that's because my town is so small he has nothing better to do. And by the way, I do agree and I'm not big into conspiracy theroies. I was just entertaining. I disagree with the way police handled the situation, but at the same time, I agree with what the kid did in response to their methods. It's human nature, when you don't think you're doing anything wrong and then a bunch of guys just try to wrestle you to the ground without a word of warning or anything. (And somehow Neuvoxraiha, I just don't believe that cops don't have to read you your rights. Which includes what you're being arrested for.) Escorting him off the premisis is one thing, but arresting is another thing entirely. Regardless, I think both sides are receiving their punishment. Even if the kid receives some restitution out of the city dept., I seriously doubt he'll be "Disrupting" an event any more, unless he liked that taser ("OW OW OW!")

Here's a question for both of you: I know that since this an online survivor, it's a bit harder to incorperate strategy. But still, I tried to do for as long as I was around. So my question is, "What was your most strategic move that most likely got you to the final two? And if you feel that strategy wasn't a major factor in your gameplay, what is the one move that you regret the most and why?"

Okay, I get that he was being pretty obnoxious... So what? Where does it say that freedom of speech only applies to those who are calm? And Senator Kerry didn't seem to have a problem answering his question, so why did the police? According to Fox's report, Meyer cut to the front and wouldn't leave after his time was up, so I can somehow see why they would charge him with Disrupting a public meeting. (or whatever it was they charged him with afterwards) But it's like it's been said over and over, they didn't ask him to step down. From the video, it almost seems like the police are running to the aid of Kerry after the question of Skull & Bones is asked... (I bet all the conspiricists think the police are in on it now) I can accept the fact that he was arrested... If he wouldn't have resisted, he probably would have just gotten a night in jail (maybe) and a slap on the wrist. I think the charge that was given after the incident was just to cover the cops' butts because they know they were wrong! And then because they were arresting him, I can see the resisting arrest charge. But they didn't follow NATIONAL PROCEDURE!!! They didn't read him his rights! (as if Meyer screaming "What are you arresting me for?" didn't tip them off) They just pinned him down, (all 5 of them and the little woman) and told him to stop resisting or they'd taser him... Seriously, I guess if he was struggling bad enough for them not to be able to get the cuffs on, then it would be okay, but seriously (those big guys on that tiny little college kid was more than enough to hold him steady) There was even a point on a youtube video where he was completely still. (you can even see his hands behind his back. The cuffs aren't on yet, but still, he's on his stomach, hand's behind his back, not restisting) The only thing he was doing was screaming, "What did I do? What did I do? Why are you arresting me?" And then they tasered him, because I suppose in their minds, asking a very reasonable question was still resisting arrest... That's a load of bull if you ask me. So definately, the police officers need to be suspended... And if, after the investigation, they find something wrong with the officer's course of actions, (which they had better) then they'll be fired or demoted or something of the nature. (Trust me, my local police station has been through this 4 times in the past 5 years. I'm not sure exactly what happens, but it's definately not a "vacation" on the officer's part. Besides, they probably don't even make enough to matter.) Police brutality and just god-awful procedured by the officers. I'm not even a cop and I know that you shouldn't arrest someone without telling them what they're being arrested for. EDIT: And he did offer to leave! That's even worse. If he was going to leave that simply, then he never should have been charged with distubing a public meeting in the first place... I bet if the officers asked him to leave, he would have. He'd have been mad as heck, but he would have left. Like I said, it's an excuse to keep the cops out of boiling water. However, with the support from the community and news groups and youtube, I seriously doubt the cops will get the favor... You never know though. (Maybe the judges are in on the conspiracy as well... Spooky) :p

Well, I was a very smart child. I didn't need a lot of explaing in order to figure things out... I think that when my parents had, "The talk," with me and my brother, I was probably 7 or 8... But I had pretty much had if figured out from the time I watched Kindergarten Cop. (Don't ask how that movie tipped me off, but I just somehow got it. I may not have understood the 'mechanics,' for lack of a better word, but I knew the gist of it and probably a lot more than my classmates had deduced on their own) And on the subject of waiting: Doesn't the whole ideaology of "Sex before marriage" come from the bible anyway? I'm pretty sure it does, so if you're a strong christian, then you should definately follow your own beliefs or morals. As for the rest of us, do what feels right. I definately think that there are too many people in this world that just prefers to sleep around to say that they've been with X number of people. Others are in it just for the pleasure. (And that goes for girls as well) And as a consequence, we have several STD... Call it irony that everyone has to be extra careful. I think it was meant to teach humanity a lesson in self-restraint and prudence, but I'm pretty sure the message is falling on deaf ears. So yes, matruity level plays into it. But just because you prefer to have premarital sex doesn't mean that you're "immature." It could just mean that your responsible enough to make sure that you care enough about the man/woman to proclaim your feelings... And of course it also means that your smart enough to make sure you wouldn't be contracting anything. (Which also implies that you would be respectful enough to make sure you're not giving anything to your partner) Some claim that you should be "In love," to have sex. Others believe that it's not even necessary to know the person. I guess I lie somewhere in between both of those viewpoints.

This one's a bit wierd, he thought. Varick was stalking around the block, searching for a bar or something to keep him occupied when the strange man just approached him. In Septu, it was extremely rare for random conversation between strangers. Either this man wanted something, or he was able to tell what Varick really was. He glanced at his bionic arm and it flexed involuntarily. "Whoa, no need to lose your temper. I was only making small talk." Varick was right, this man was wierd. Wierd enough to be crazy. "You got a smoke?" Varick already knew the answer. He could practically smell the smoke radiating off of him. Syn smiled and reached into his back pocket, revealing a white cigarette. Varick didn't recognize the brand, but he didn't really care. He had another motive for asking besides nicotine addiction; he had his own pack of cigarettes at the apartment. As Syn handed the white stick over, Varick made a conscious attempt to make physical contact. After he acquired this man's "imprint," perhaps he could find out a little more about him. He lit the end and he inhaled the fumes. "Thanks," Varick said and turned to walk away without another word. He could tell Syntic was dumbfounded. He practically felt the tension and confusion in the air, but Varick had what he wanted and then a little extra. He took another drag from the cigarette and looked back to see if the man was still there. He wasn't... "Definately an odd one," he thought. But if Syn was really interested enough in Varick, or perhaps more accurately stated, Varick's Bionic upgrades, then he would follow. He took one final drag from the stick before flicking it into the street and continued walking. "Time to test his prints." he said and activated his uniqe imprint system, but something was wrong. Syntic's imprint wasn't registered like the other five he had stolen. But Varick had made direct contact with the man's skin and he could even tell that Syntic had no bionic limbs... How could it not work? Why hadn't he been able to steal his prints? He turned around again, his eyes landing on the spot where he had encountered the man, but there was still nothing. "Damn," maybe he wasn't following. Varick had never met anyone whose prints he couldn't steal. And perhaps if this man could, maybe they had more in common than expected. He thought that perhaps Syn could help reveal some of his past. Why was his half-day turning out like shit so quickly? It seemed like Varick would have to search of Syntic instead. "What a pain."

Yes, Sandy, that was what I was implying with the card... Of course, you described it better... And the reason I made the card so strong was because I was thinking that everyone else would do the same... I guess I was wrong, but at the same time, I was thinking along the lines, "They're immortals. It's only natural for them to be powerful." Side-Effects would be good... How about The person holding the card slowly begins to transform into a wolf. They become enraged and vicious, and thus, are more compelled to use the power of Sure Shot. Anyway, if there's ever a problem with the cards Sandy, you could always just re-word the cards to limit the power. But thanks for the input. And the card is showing up fine on my computer at home and at school. I'll try uploading it again, tonight. P.S. If only certain characters are given the cards, wouldn't that give away which characters belong to someone??? Like if I gave "Brian" the card, and he happened to be mine, as he started to change into a wolf, or even when he used the card, it would be pretty obvious he belongs to me... Or is it all stategic? Can we give it to other characters that aren't ours?

Thanks again Sandy. I appreciate it, and I will definately take you up on the offer, if you don't mind waiting until tomorrow. I just got off work at 11:00pm and I have a ton of homework!!! I just got on for a quick update. But I suppose that if I would be having days like these with all-night homework assignments and such, it probably is best that I hold off on The Abyss. However, I hope you won't mind if I'm this scatter-brained in the RPG itself. 'Cuz you know, last time, Rachmaninoff just deleted me. :p So yes, I'll definately join. P.S. Oh, Sandy, not that I would have cut your head off or anything, but at first I was tempted to steal Rach's voodoo doll...

I'm so sorry guys. I've been so busy with school and work as well that I completely forgot that I requested another spot. *hits self on head repeatedly* I know it's been a week already, and I haven't really been keeping up with the worm since school started, so feel free to skip me; I just don't have the time... Again, I apologize.
-
I did, and it's quite funny that Sandy stole (well, he didn't know he stole it) one of my ideas. I won't tell you which one, so you can be surprised when I make The Abyss, and his approach to the idea was much more involved than mine, so more power to you Sandy! It's a great idea.
-
*Sigh* Fine, I'll wait... again! It's as you say, I'm busy. (But I didn't want to give the wrong idea that I wouldn't be able to manage the time. I guess I failed) And there never would have been the worry of not finishing the game, you see, because I had developed a totally new system for the game itself. After watching DB and The Panopticon, and seeing how many problems he faced with it, I adapted. (See? It was good to wait, maybe I'll pick up a few things from Sandy's as well) Now, my only worry is that SunfallE, BKStyles, and Indifference will be too burnt out on Death-Card that they won't want to play mine afterwards... I already know that Beth said she wanted to creat one as well and I know Matt was throwing ideas around... *Sigh again* I suppose though, Sandy, if you just aboslutely have to crush my dreams, (And I speak literally. After I posted that comment yesterday, I really did dream of The Abyss) then by all means go ahead, you eager little badger...
-
I apologize! I am still here, and no DB, I am not dead... Rather the threads are dead with things that I ususally post in. I still plan on hosting the Abyss. In fact, Hells and I were just discussing it earlier today. (Don't worry, I didn't give anything away) And I see now that since I have more comments in this thread, there's definately a bigger interest, yes? But still, I hadn't expected my senior year to be as hectic, with more work time and less computer time, I am really wrapped up. I could budget homework, work, "This is Earth," and "The Abyss," but it would be a really tight squeeze and I wouldn't want to do it unless the damand for the RP was high. So just a recap, could everyone that is interested, please post here. Even 5 replies is motivation enough for me. My only stipulation is that SunfallE, Indifference, and BKStyles play... It's part of my story and while I suppose it could work without them, I really wouldn't want it to because it would ruin my plans. I'll probably send a PM to all three of you sometime soon if you don't send one to me first. ;) Other than that: Please express your interests or any other questions here.

Black Everything was dark. Not a hint of light to come at all. And cold. Every inch of Varick's body ached with numbness. A flash suddenly shot through his mind. White hot pain. What the hell is going on? Varick growled, and tried to move but he couldn't. He was breaking out in a sweat, but remained colder than ever. Another flash. And Another. They were coming faster and faster. He bit down on his tongue until he tasted blood. HELP! Varick tried to scream, but couldn't. He struggled with the pain and fought away the numbness. Another flash that was accompanied by a small muscle spasm. What's this? Varick found that he had a little movement in his right hand. He worked the joints, which felt like they had been cramped up for days. Another flash of pain shot through his leg, but still he resided in darkness. It was becoming more unbearable. And that's when he heard it. The sound of wheels on hard, linolieum floor, the screeching of rustic metal, the sudden but intense heat at his feet. Varick's heart rate was rising rapidly! I have to get out of here! Adreniline combined with another painful shock, finally gave him full mobility, regardless of how painful it was. His hand ripped through the darkness in a blur of fury and his foreign hand found a neck. Varick was scared; too scared to realize what he was doing before it was done. ----- Varick sat up abruptly, just as he had done his dream. That same dream he'd been having for months on end: A recollection of his first memory. He was breaking out in a cold sweat, despite the cheap and unwarming comforters covering the lower half of his body. Varick observed his shabby one-room apartment. It's familiar shabby appearance, did little to comfort him. The room consisted of a bed, a refrigiorator that didn't work, a microwave oven that was close to exploding, empty cabinets with door falling off the hinges, a toilet and shower placed randomly in the corner with no walls surrounding it, and a sink that didn't work. His bed doubled as a couch and there were no carpets or wallpaper, it had all been ruined and that old hag of a landlady never bothered to keep the place up. Of course, the reason behind this was because there would never be any legal suits brought up against her; only criminals and outlaws stayed in this part of Septu, and most of them probably didn't pay too well either. The blinds to his right were letting an awful orange glare shine into his eyes, and he peeked through to see that the sun was setting. No telling what Varick was doing earlier that morning around 4:30 to 5:00. "What's wrong baby?" A woman's voice sounded to his left. He jumped up and fell out of bed, pulling the sheets with him. He didn't remember bringing a woman home. "Who the hell are you?" He stood, tucking the sheets around his waist. The woman rolled over groggily, exposing her bare breasts. "What do you mean?" She asked, her lipstick still smeared across her face and Varick guess across his as well. "Are ya deaf? I asked who the fuck you are!" She was obvioulsy frightened at this obviously unseen aggression, but she took it in stride, "I'm Tiffany. Don't you remember anything?" "Get the hell out." Varick said calmly "Wha--?" "I said get the hell out, you filthy tramp!" the woman looked hurt, and as mean as his comment was, he still had a heart. Varick dropped the sheets and put on a pair of jeans before throwing a couple of dollars and what appeared to be her clothes onto the bed in front of her. "Clean yourself up, and get out. Don't be here when I get back." Varick pulled on a dirty T-Shirt and walked out the door. He didn't care if she was there without him, she couldn't damage the apartment any worse than it already was and she certainly couldn't find anything worth stealing. Varick walked down the flights of steps and onto the street, unaware of that night's destination. ~~~~~~ OOC: Feel free to interact, anybody.

The human E-2351 would not be missed. If he had any family, they wouldn't care if he were alive or not; this was life and this was how Saxton made his money. Little did the doctor know that inside the body bag, the regulatory system was still functioning. A volt of electricity shot throught the subject's corpse before finally settling into harmony with the neurophase technology. The bag twitched with the life of the human inside, but it was so subtle that the doctor never noticed. Fear spread throughout E-2351 and he ripped open the bag. Doctor Saxton was standing horrified at the site of a failed experiement's hands suddenly around his neck. The bionic arm was giving him increased stength and Doctor Saxton couldn't hope to escape. His windpipe was crushed in only a few seconds and he was dead. The naked E-2351 picked up Saxton's lab coat and left the body, but not before activating his neurophase technology. E-2351 was officially Varick Saxton. Okay, I went and saw it tonight... With a bunch of friends, I might add. Don't hate the opinion, but I personally HATED the movie. Sure, I got a few laughs, but that doesn't mean I was brain-dead through the movie; I knew what I was laughing about. And just knowing that the humor is so crude and gross is just a turn-off for me. I'm sorry, but it was pretty much a waste of time. Except for McLovin. That's the only part I found hilarious without being crude. Fake IDs, buying liquor, getting punched out, and some of the scenes with the cops. Other than that, the movie was pretty disgusting and I couldn't ever imagine watching it alone or with family, as someone said earlier. I believe that's it's good for a one-time watch with friends and only friends.... But that's just me. Meh. :animesigh

Sterile Darrell ... :animesigh I have no idea. Some stoner was too high to remember my real name and decided to add the word 'Sterile' before it... About half of my friends call me that. And I know several people who think that Darrell is my real name. :animesigh
You also have to take into consideration that colleges don't look at AP/Honors points. Your weighted GPA means nothing to most colleges.
Well, yes, I know that. But I was only meaning that a 5 point class can help class ranking, and that is important to colleges. I know that I've been taking as many Honors, AP, and Distance Learning classes as I can so I can improve my ranking. And if the school's small enough (like mine is) it could be very easy to make it into the top 10% or top 5%.
