1. Question: Aren't we supposed to make an introduction post before killing someone off, or did that only apply to the 1st round?
2. Davis, Rebecca, and Vanya walked silently for some time, taking in the painful silence. Ever since Gustaff's death, Vanya had been taking the lead. She would travel a small distance ahead of the other two and then return only to nod her head in approval symbolizing that the path ahead was clear. She did this every time they reached a fork in the road, and by now Rebecca had developed a system for which way they should go. They could never really decide, each one posing a possible booby trap, but Rebecca wanted to alternate routes; left, then right, then left again. It worked for quite some time until Vanya returned from her scouting mission with her leg completely covered in blood. She had been shot with a primative arrow and she was lucky that it hadn't done any major damage. At that point, The trio decided to change their routine. Now they would take two lefts, then two rights, then two more lefts, and so on. They had been doing this, praying the entire time that they wouldn't run into a door that would close behind them, for about an hour. And the entire time, not one word was spoken. The silence was killing Rebecca; she hated it. She loved chatting with people and getting to know their personalities, but the recent death of Gustaff put up some sort of barrier between her and her allies... Of course, Rebecca understood a bit of silence for Gustaff. She was sure Davis was mourning, and Vanya just seemed to be collected. (However, Rebecca knew better. She thought that that Vanya was just a scared little girl on the inside, hiding behind her military background) Then something changed. "Now what?" Davis spoke for the first time in over an hour. The reason for this was because they were currently faced with not two pathways, but five! "I'm not sure," Vanya said limping forward a bit, "But if I had to bet, One of the paths is the only safe way out. The rest will probably be just as deadly, if not more so, than the meteor chamber." "I'm thinking the same thing." Rebecca said. She was glad that this new delimma brought life back to her companions. Rebecca thought that she would die if there was another moment of silence. "Well," Davis stopped, contemplating which way they should go. "It doesn't leave us with very good chances, but Rebecca, I think you should choose. You've only been wrong once, and I trust that whatever decision you made will be good for all of us." "That seems fair enough." Vanya spoke up. It didn't sound sarcastic either, despite the bandaged wound from the arrow that had pierced her leg. Rebecca still felt bad for being the cause of it. "I don't think I could have all that resting on my shoulders--" she started, but Vanya interrupted. "Nonsense. This wound will heal, and Davis is right. You've picked the right path nearly every time. Without you, there's no telling where we'd be. And if you don't choose, you'll leave us with no other choice than to turn back and pick another pathway." Rebecca knew that Davis and Vanya wouldn't turn back, but it was more of reinforcement for what Davis had said. Vanya was trying to boost her confidence, and while she failed miserably, it did force her to choose a path. "The center path." Pure dread could be heard in Rebecca's voice as she said those words. She hated choosing and almost immediately after she had said it, she wanted to take it back, but Vanya had already began her walk with Davis just shortly behind. Rebecca had no choice. They walked on for some distance, Rebecca growing more and more nervous and even more angry that she was forced to break with her formula for safe passageways. She wondered if the maze had deliberately formed those five passages just to throw her off. She wondered if she would ever get out alive. Just as that thought occured, Rebecca heard a small clicking noise. The wall suddenly closed just behind them and Vanya, being a large distance ahead, ran back to join Davis and Rebecca. The three remained in the corner, waiting for something to happen; praying what they thought could be their final prayers. The wall about 100 yards ahead closed as well and only a few seonds later, small red beams that appeared out of nowhere bridged the football-field sized distance in intracate designs. As they moved across the walls and tiled floor, bits of smoke began drifting up as though it was being burned. "I guess that means we can't touch those beams." Vanya surmised. It was a good observation as well because Davis was still in too much shock to even think about what the smoke could mean. "Now the only question is, who's going to go to the other side and push that button?" She said indicating the small green button at the other side of the beam field. There wasn't a door, but the button could at least turn off the lasers. "I'll go," Davis volunteered. He was brave, but he didn't look very fluid. "No. I'm going. Vanya's injured, and you just look slow. Besides, I got us into this mess. Now I'm going to get us out." "Be careful," Vanya didn't argue, although Rebecca wished that she had. Davis just watcher her carefully. "Don't worry," She said, with that same tone that Vany used back at the forked pathways, "I'm a dancer." Rebecca wasn't sure what good being a dancer was, but it seemed to reassure the others, nonetheless. It was true though, she was far quicker than the others, especially Vanya. Upon stepping on the tiled floor, the lasers began moving and Rebecca was forced to step back. She looked back to the other two one last time before readying herself. She saw the quick pattern that the lasers were making and immediately realized it to be a waltz. She quickly took the proper pose and began moving. "One, two, three... One, two, three," She counted as she spun and weaved her way in between the beams. She wanted to close her eyes, but she found that she couldn't blink at all out of fear for that the pattern would change. She came to a dead spot and backed herself up against a wall, breathing heavily. Tears were running down her face. She was only halfway there and already it felt like an eternity. "You're doing great," Davis called, "Only a bit farther to go." She took a deep breath, when suddenly the patter did change! The dull spot she was now at, was the target for several oncoming beams! She didn't have time to think; the pattern seemed strange and all Rebecca could do was curl up in a ball. It worked. Each beam passed just over her head, although her hair was somewhat shorter now. She took another deep breath, once the beams had retracted. Suddenly Vanya screamed, "LOOK OUT, REBECCA!" The tile that she was standing on began to shake, until it moved up with a forceful jolt. Rebecca moved to the side, but not quick enough. One the the laser beams sliced off three of her toes on her right foot. She cried out in pain, but ultimately she was fine. All of the tiles on the floor were now moving in a pattern just like that of the beams, making it all the more hectic. Rebecca didn't have time to think... The beams were coming at her again. She had to move and quick! She stepped into the fury of moving beams and tiles. Sidestepping the beam to her left and then in a move that wasn't dance, but didn't deny her fluidity, she barrell rolled into a dull spot. The other two wouldn't dare speak, afraid that they would ruin her concentration. It was exactly the opposite; Rebecca wasn't thinking, this new pattern wouldn't let her. She moved as quickly as possible, bearing the pain searing throughout her foot, as she ducked under on of the beams while the tile she was on began to rise. She eventually got her groove back and began working the pattern more creatively. That still didn't stop the beams from taking a part of her flesh from her arm. It was just a graze, but that didn't help the pain any less. There was only a few more feet, and the beams were moving faster than ever! In a final instant of bravado and fear, Rebecca dove through a small opening and arrived at the end. She gave a brief cutsey and then pushed the button. Vanya and Davis were cheering on the other side. As Rebecca began limping back to the other side, to meet them in the middle a rumbling occured. It was faint, but fear swept over all of them. "Run!" Davis screamed. Rebecca did the best she could, she was limping on account of her missing toes, but what scared her the most was that she couldn't see what she was running from. She heard a rhythmic pattern of thumps behind her and that only motivated her to move quicker. The thumps got louder and louder until curiosity got the better of Rebecca and she needed to see what she was running from. Each section of the walls were closing; slamming shut at the center of her pathway. If she didn't move quicker and meet back with Vanya and Davis, she would be crushed. Unfortunately, that brief time it took her to look back caused her to lose her footing. Davis began running after her, motivated to pick her up, but stopped after she screamed out in pain as a wall crushed her legs. The time it took for Rebecca to die seemed like an eternity. It was in slow motion the whole time. From the moment she stepped foot into this maze to the time that she began dancing between the lasers, it all seemed like forever ago. She couldn't bare to look at her friends as she died. Her life was so short and Rebecca hadn't had a chance to accomplish what she wanted to, but at least she stopped the lasers. Maybe that's what she needed to do for Vanya and Davis. Maybe that was her destiny. As the wall that would end her life began contracting, Rebecca looked at the ground, not wishing to see the horror on her friends faces. Yes, in that short time, she considered Vanya, Davis, and even Gustaff her friends. The thud of the wall was sickening to Davis. It wasn't just a thud, but it carried a small squshing noise that indicated blood and gray matter had just been smashed onto the wall, like that of fly being swatted. Davis turned to the side and puked. "Bastards!" Vanya cried out! She didn't know who she was speaking to, but she was sure someone was watching. "You planned it from the beginning! To make her go through all of that, just to die. YOU SICK FREAKS!" She stumbled over, too tired to yell or even comfort Davis who was still in the corner. When the final wall contracted, saving Vanya and Davis a distance of about 20 feet to move around comfortably. That same feminine voice rang out of nowhere, "Contratulations, participants Davis and Vanya, you are the only two to have ever survived the laser beam corridor. You will find that this accomplishment gets you even closer to the end than any of the other paths, but tread lightly because the pathways will become even more treacherous than before." With that, the voice clicked off and the walls receeded, revealing a large mass of blood that could only be Rebecca Lynn's remains. At the edge of the 100 yard distance was a door that didn't used to be there when Rebecca started her journey through the lasers. "We don't have a choice but to move forward," Davis said, suddenly retaking the lead. He seemed to be filled with anger and leadership at the same time. He wanted revenge. As the two passed by the corpse of Rebecca, Vanya turned to her and stated plainly, holding back the tears, "Thank you."
3. Wow... I guess I forgot there was even an underground thread for the maze... I'm stupid. Sorry for taking so long. I've been really busy and only had a chance to post once, as you already know. But I'm sure I'll get around to it tonight or by morning... Once again, I'm really really sorry... Since we're on the subject, (or slightly passed it since I'm behind) I have to give credit to the most greusome death so far: Crystia, as a fellow past Mercenary, THAT WAS FREAKING GREAT!!! I hope I can out-do it. But I'll try my hardest to pull some of those terrible ideas that Aaryanna, Anomaly, and I came up with for the screenplay and apply them here.... Muahahaha, okay then.
4. "Wake up," Dwight's voice interruped Darren's slumber. He was having a very nice dream about a girl he liked back when he was 'normal' "Wake up! You're going to be late for class." At this, Darren jumped up in bed. He couldn't afford to be late once more. "Why are you always the last to show up for class? Aren't you supposed to be the smart one?" Dwight continued as he gathered his books that were thrown across the room. "Yes. You remind me every time you ask to cheat off of my work." he retorted. It always did get annoying to have to share the same grades with someone who didn't deserve them. "What the big deal, it's just a little homework every now and then." "Try every night." he said, as he pulled on a T-Shirt that looked clean. "Is there time for breakfast, I'm starved." "You're always hungry. But unfortunately, no. There's no time left. Do you have anything you can take along?" Dwight asked sincerely. He knew that Darren's powers required for him to eat before they would work. "Yeah, I got some leftover pizza from dinner." he stated lamely as he picked up a couple of slices before wiping his teeth with his finger. It was all he had time to do before leaving the dorm. "You'd better eat those quick. You know you have field training in the morning." Dwight said as he shut the door behind them and heading off in one direction. Darren didn't bother to answer because Dwight was right. He needed to scarf down those slices of pizza and hope his power kicked in before training got started. His power was a strange one: It took all of his excess fat and energy that the body didn't need and transfered it into energy. This energy could be clearly seen as 'light' traveling through his veins and collecting at his fingertips. Every time he had something to eat, an intense yellow light would show up and with that light engergy, he could project energy shields or small spikes that protruded from his fingers. The spikes could even be shot at the enemy. However, all that was based on how much he ate, and Darren doubted that a few slices of pizza would be enough to create anything detrimental in a fight. He really needed to start waking up earlier. As Darren exited the Cheshire Academy's main entrance, and headed for the shade of the large oak tree where field training began every morning. "You're late again Mr. Lane," Mr. Turner's telepathic voice rang inside his head. It was calm but loud, meaning that he was mad. "If this were a real mission, all of your teammates would be dead and you would be fighting a one-on-one." The dissappointment in his voice was discernable even though Darren couldn't see Mr. Turner. "Now then prepare yourself for battle." All of the other students that had field training were setting on the sidelines; they had obviously already been defeated by Mr. Turner. But even as Darren entered the shade of the tree, he didn't see his teacher. It was an ambush, and Darren assumed his readied position, realizing that a couple slices of pizza wasn't enough to even bring a small glow to his fingers. This was going to be a long day.
5. Eflair had no idea how to proceed. She had only agreed to travel with Jennifer and Ambellina because she didn't want to be alone. Personally, she preferred to be with that nice human, Vanya. But she thought that the four others trapped behind the circular door would be moving at a much faster pace. At any rate, Jennifer seemed to know what she was doing. It was true, the humans had nothing in the realm of magic, and at least Eflair wouldn't have to speak when Jennifer was near.It was hard enough just to breathe, but talking was too straining on her. Eflair felt awkward to be out of the water. Every second, Eflair thought she was going to drop dead from the poison air, but that was not the case. Her world was so much simpler than this. The beautiful palaces made of giant coral and pearls provided protection from all animals; her village was fortunate enough to have the lowest death rate in all of Euto, and if only she were in the water, she could move so much more comfortably. "This way. It seems that circular trap opened another doorway." Jennifer's voice cut into her thoughts. Eflair was shocked back to reality. She wondered if Jennifer heard all of that about her home world just then, but she didn't bother asking. The new corridor that the trio entered was quite strange. It actually resemled Elfair's village, what with the huge spires of earth that resembled her coral palaces. The only difference was that the spires were a deep red like that of the lantra fish. And it wasn't underwater, of course. But that didn't stop her from looking for even the tinyest bit of moisture. "Don't get too excited. This place can't be too healthy, even if it does have water." So Jennifer was reading her thoughts. The other thing that seemed to stick out was that red ball in the sky. "That's the moon." this time it was Ambellina's voice that cut in. "I'm not so sure, it looks more like a distant planet, and it seems to provide efficient amount of light... Maybe it's a very dim sun. Elfair still hadn't said anything, despite that she didn't have to speak, but this place felt so familiar to her that she found the courage, "Perhaps it's neither. If you'll notice, it seems to be daylight and there seems to be a sky, but yet, I don't she how it's possible for us to have been in the stars before and on a planet now. This entire setting is false." She finished with confidence. After all, reading nature was her specialty. "Just because it's fake, doesen't mean that it won't kill us." Ambellina's voice, even in thought, was beginning to get annoying. It was always whining and it seemed like she knew everything, even though she clearly didn't. Almost as if her words had signaled it, the door behind them had slammed shut. Fear struck the trio and the distant red plantet began getting brighter and brighter. It was sucking the life out of everything, radiating pure heat and it was getting worse with every second. Ambellina screamed out in pain before taking cover inside one of the earth red spires. Eflair and Jennifer did the same. It was like some awful sunburn; only a few seconds in the light and heat of that thing would have been enough to incinerate them all. "NOW WHAT?" Ambellina screamed with words as she touched her face to feel how burned it had gotten. "It seems we're trapped," Jennifer cut in, "I can only hope that the red planet cools down soon so we can proceed." That's when Eflair noticed it. It wasn't the crystal blue color of her planet, but there was no denying that the pool hidden in the shadow was water. It was almost black, but it had all the same qualities as normal water. Eflair wondered how it would help them get out of this. "Maybe if we soak our bodies in this water, we can survive in the heat just long enought to take cover in another spire's quarters." Jennifer cut into their thoughts again. This seemed like an intelligent throught and you didn't have to ask Eflair twice to jump in the water. She immersed her intire head in the water, taking in how good it felt against her skin. When she opened her eyes, however, she realized that it wasn't such a small pool after all. The entire room they were in was above water. It was clear what they had to do now. "We have to swim," Eflair thought calmly pulling her head out of the water. "There's practically an ocean underneath all of this. I believe that in order to stay out of the harmful planet's rays, we must swim from pool to pool inside the spires." "Are you crazy? We don't even know what's down there. There could be all kinds of beasts." Ambellina interrupted with her own spoken words. She loved contradicting everyone. Jennifer seemed on-board with Elfair's plan and when the two gave their odd glances back at Ambellina, she lamely stated. "I can't swim." "Not to worry," Jennifer cut in, "I have a feeling that Elfair will be fast and strong enough to pull you through while you simply hold your breath." And so the plan was set.
6. It seems that I didn't have time to post before all was changed. But I think we should keep our info generally the same. Since this is a X-menesque story, I think I can do extremely well. I love X-MEN. I think instead of brothers, we should be roomies now! So I'm going to keep the same info about the bio, but I'm just going to briefly go over his powers in my first post... Which will be coming soon!
7. "Dwight?" Darren screamed towards the dark pit. He wasn't sure how deep it was or even if his brother could hear him, but he had to do something. "Dwight, are you alright?" All seemed lost. His brother was at the bottom of a pit that could go down forever and Darren was stuck in this blood-sucking vampire tree. Suddenly, one of the branches from the tree rose to his left and very large, hollow, thorns protruded from it's branch! They were obviously used to suck the blood from its victims. "DWIGHT, DWIGHT, DWIGHT!!!" He screamed. That's all Darren could do; he couldn't move his arms or legs, and all of his weapons and magical items were at the pit with his brother. Darren swore that the gods cursed him with such and idiot brother, especially for his life to rest in Dwight's hands. "Stop 'yer whining like a little pansy! I'm fine. How do I get out of here?" Dwight's annoying yet releiving voice echoed out of pit. Darren didn't wonder if Dwight had been consious the whole time and simply chose not to answer him. "I think we have a bigger issue right now considering these trees are growing fangs! HELP ME!!!" "Well what do you want me to do? It's too dark to seem my weapons and even if I could, it wouldn't help me down here!" He replied back. His voice sounded somewhat shocked at the comment about the fangs, but he managed to keep his cool. "I don't know, what can you see?" Darren was screaming frantically watching the blood-sucking thorns get larger and larger. It seemed to be the size of his head now and it was still growing. "Only your stupid books and that dumb bag full of magical fairy dust or whatever it is you put in it." Dwight loved mocking Darren. The bag wasn't filled with fairy dust, or at least, not all of it was filled with fairy dust. The bag contained magical items from all over the country and many of them could possibly get them out of this mess. "Open the bag and tell me what you see?" The thorns were now to about the length of his entire calf! It took Dwight a while to answer. It was as though he was taking his time. "Not much. There's a bottle labeled 'E.L.', a wierd looking dagger with flames, your fairy dust, a bag full of pearls, and a rock... Why do you have a rock?" That's when it hit him. The rock! The rock could work! "Dwight, this is going to sound crazy, but I want you to throw the stone up here?" "I hardly think this is the time, brother," he said like he knew what he was talking about, (which he didn't), "What am I supposed to do? Hit the tree really hard? The tree thorns had finally reached its full length. It was getting ready to literally suck the life right out of Darren. "JUST HURRY UP AND THROW IT!" A few seconds later, the petrification stone came soaring out of the black pit and landed on the ground just a few feet from the tree's trunk. It began glowing a brilliant rose red. The tree flinched. The restraints around Darren's body loosened and the tree backed up to its original position, as did all of the other moaning trees. Suddenly, the vines retracted and Darren fell into the pit where Dwight was waiting to let him fall on his face. "So, do you mind telling me what just happened?" Dwight asked, completely in awe that a simple stone had just saved a life. "It's a petrification stone. It's used to temporarily freeze cursed beings for about 10 minutes. Who would have thought that the entire red forest was cursed? I mean seriously, I've never heard of a cursed forest. Inanimate objects and people, yes. But trees? It's amazing." "Yes yes, that's fascinating," Dwight's sarcasm cutting through Darren's words like nails on a chalkboard, "But what would have happened if the forest wouldn't have been cursed?" "Well I suppose I wouldn't be standing here before you." he replied "Let me get this straight: You risked your life for a hunch?" "Aye." Was all Darren said. "That's great to know." Dwight was speaking with sarcasm again. "Don't worry. If it came down to it, I would risk your life for a hunch as well." "I know. That's the part that scares me. So how do we get out of here?" He asked picking up the weapons and bags that he could find. "Well I guess we follow the tunnel." Darren replied as he began walking down the pitch black pathway. "That's the dumbest idea I've ever heard. There could be all kinds of things down here." He scoffed, but nonetheless caught up to walk with Darren. In truth, Dwight was probably thinking the same thing, but he just like to contradict him and cause problems. After several miles of walking, only talking to argue, the Herother brothers finally came to an end. At first, Dwight cursed Darren because it seemed like a dead end, but upon further inspeciton there was a door that was just small enough for a dwarf and the two brothers were able to fit through it if they crawled on their bellies. The tunnel emerged at the edge of the forest. Strangely enough, all the trees had already regained their red leaves. Darren wondered if it wasn't because the forest had found a victim. "Looks like we're here! That wasn't so hard." Dwight said moving his fists to his hips and puffing up his chest. "How can you tell?" "Well there's a big castle, I'm pretty sure we're here." Dwight was right, the castle was huge... And too obvious for anyone except Darren to miss. It was littered with a sheet of ice. and several large bodies of ice. Something that Dwight could only describe as glaciers. It seemed like they weren't the first ones to get there. "At least whoever got here first, already took care of whatever kind of beast was lingering." Dwight continued, "And look. How nice, they left the gate open for us." The two brothers headed for the open gate to the castle happy, for once, that they got lucky by not being ahead... "It looks like this won't be so hard, maybe whoever is ahead will weaking Morgwyn for us as well." Dwight finished with that same bravado he alwasy emitted "What makes you think that the people before us won't actually get the pheonix heart?" "Are you kidding me," he slapped Darren on the back of the head, "This job can only be accomplished by the legendary heroes for hire. The Herother Brothers!" Just then, a quiet rustling noise was taking place. Dwight didn't seem to notice it, but Darren had stopped walking all togther. As the sound increased, Darren noticed little bits and pieces of flying gargoyles hovering above the ground. They were emerging from the glaciers and pulling themselves off of the many ice spears that littered the ground. By the time the noise had reached a lound screech, there were at least 50 of the things in a thousand different sizes. "I don't think those gargoyles know that part." Darren tapped Dwight on the shoulder. The Gargoyles were still digging themselves out of the rubble; their numbers were around 80 now. "Well those are cursed right? Can't you just use that dumb rock again?" "Well I could have tried, if I hadn't dropped it in the red forest." "Shit. Looks like we'll have to do this my way, not that I'm opposed." Dwight smiled as he pulled his large sword out of his back and readied himself for battle. Darren did the same.
8. Unfortunately, I don't know how soon I'll be able to get around to the posting... My computer at home is broken right now, and I'm on my school's computer right now. Unfortunately I don't have the time to post in just one class period... I can try to do it tonight, but I'm not sure at all. Maybe, I can get around to it this afternoon, in 7th hour.... I hope it will turn out alright if I can't get to it immediately. But I really liked your post, it was very interesting and I think I can make a wonderful post that will put us "ahead" of the mercenaries (since they seem to be playing off of our original ideas, and they seem to want to race... :animesigh ) But yes, I will try my best! EDIT: Okay, I finished my post. There's a few typos but I didn't have time to go back and fix them. Sorry. And I think it was long enough to compensate for the few posts that we've had. Plus, the Titans and Argo haven't been up to posting as we have. We've both posted twice. And the mercenaries have all at least posted once. Only Tiana from Argo has posted, I believe and not all of the Titans have posted yet, so I'd say we're golden so far as long as we keep our posts at a really good quality. Okay, so tell me what you think.
9. YES SIR! I've just posted my reply... It was kind of short, but as long as we get the road on, I'd say we're golden. After all, Sandy said she'd be switching the story several times throughout the challenge, so we don't really need to focus on the in-depth stuff. I say we just get our characters as close to the pheonix heart as possible before it all changes. Well good look and my our team WIN!!!
10. "Where are we?" Dwight Cried in frustration as they continued their trek through the Red Forest. If the brothers kept up their pace, the should arrive at the castle in two days time. "Where do you think? We're still in the red forest." Dwight held up his hands in futility. "I know that. I mean, are we close to getting out of here? I'm bored." "Well, then find something to entertain yourself with." Darren finished and turned back to his book. It had all kinds of information on magical items, but the pheonix heart only had a paragraph or two over the history of its creation. "This won't get us anywhere." The truth about the map was that even though Darren was smarter than his older brother, he wasn't so good with directions. At their last stop, the brothers stocked up on everything they would need and Darren cursed his forgetfullness to bring the compass. But the pathways in the Red Forest seemed to be pretty self explanitory. It should be a strait shot with only one fork in the road in which the brothers would take the left path. Just then, Dwight let out a grunt that could easily be confused with a gorilla. He was practicing his punches and kicks on the trunks of the trees. "What are you doing?" Annoyance was taking hold of Darren as dwight jumped up and down, dodging imaginary punches before side-kicking the tree. "Practicing. And you? Oh wait, don't tell me, you're reading." Dwight loved to give Darren a hard time. In fact, that was the biggest part of their relationship: Not having one. "You'd better quit," Darren said stopping to let Dwight catch up, "You know why this place is called the Red Forest don't you?" "I'm not even that stupid. It's because all the trees in this forest have blood red leaves year 'round." "But the rumor is that they're red because they drink the blood of all their victims." Darren was trying to scare him. It wouldn't work, but it could supress his urge to punch the trees. "Don't be stupid. That's an urban myth. There's no proof whatsoever that these trees can even move, let alone drink blood." With that last word, he pulled out his dagger and stabbed it into the trunk just behind him. A loud howl of wind came through the pathway, rustling all of the trees. Just then, the tree's leaves turned gray and began falling off the branches. A red substance began trickling out of the stab wound, and Darren could have sworn that he'd seen something move out of the corner of his eye. "What is that?" He asked, indicating the red liquid which was now forming a puddle on the ground. Dwight bent over and dipped his finger in it and brought it to his nose. After a few brief moments, he replied, "It's blood." "Great! Now what have you done?"
11. Yeah! That sounds great to me... Although Sandy said that bios weren't necessary unless we wanted to, I guess the other teams could get a bit of a feel if they were to want interaction. I like the idea! Let's go for it, I'll post my bio ASAP. But speaking of strategy, how should we get involved in the RP... I just figured that if we're the type of "heroes for hire" that maybe something could be done with that... Anyway, I'm sure you have a bunch already planned out while I just found out about the challenge. (I'll explain) So I'll go ahead and post the profile and then you can post the first entry from our team... How's that sound? That way, I can follow your lead and our stories will seem coherent... On the note of why I'm just getting around to the challenge: I had to go to my state competition Thursday-Saturday and I just got back around 1:15am... Anyway, there were 13 debate teams (2 dropped out from the original 15) and we got 3rd over all! So I was pretty excited since we're the first ones to get a medal at state in a long long time. (at least 10 years) So, I'll get right on that so this party can get started. RPing is a strong suit for me! ~~~~EDIT~~~~ Name: Darren Herother Gender: Male Age: 20 Personality: The younger of the Herother brothers, Darren is always trying to prove his self, especially to his older brother. He dabbles in too many things all at once, always trying to improve his knowlege of the world and how it's run. Because of this, he's never really prepared for the thing he's actually trying to prove himself in, thus, his personality interests contradict themselves; In truth, he's just too lazy to worry about slaying a dragon or evil sorcerer. While he may want to, he finds it much easier to read a book or two about dragon's or sorcerer's and tell his brother the best way to defeat them. He's the "assisstant," if you will, and Darren despises himself for it, but as said earlier, he's too lazy to really care. He's also optimistic. For example, Take the above statement: While he strives to live up to his brother's reputations, he finds that his brother would be quite dead if it weren't for his knowlege of the situation. (And the fact that he's saved his brother's life on the occasion's where he wouldn't listen) He believes that the death of an enemy is indirectly caused by his knowlege and his coincidental relation to the man who can slay the being. Biography: *generic tragic hero's bio* (Mother and father killed long ago by evil sorcerer, never got revenge but doesn't really require it, cares for the brother too much to let him do something rash and get killed so he follows along, trying to live up to standards, compensates by ridding evil beings from other villages, you know the drill)
12. Well, as I said in my last message to both of you: I'm really sorry. I felt like I had abandoned both of you towards the end. And considering I was the only one who wasn't an original LOL member, (plus the fact that I had lost the debate) I was sure I would be eliminated. I'm grateful, of course that I'm still here, but I can't express how worthless I've felt throughout these past couple of rounds... I've just been in a slump and I plan to escape it soon. (I'm going to state tomorrow, so I've been super busy and after that, I'll be done with stressfulness for a long time) Next round we'll show 'em who's boss!
13. YAY! I was sad that I missed Labyrinth in the events section whenever Sandy held it... I'm glad that I won't miss out on this one as well. I sent you the sign-up, but I may have added too much information. If and when you decided to hold this (granted that I'm accepted) feel free to edit my info if I provided way too much! :D I'm just a little curious: What's going to be different from Labyrinth? So far, besides it being a different setting and characters and such, it all seems spot on. So can you tell us or are you wanting to keep it a secret???
14. I never got an e-mail, but I guess that's okay since you just told me what all you had said... That said, I'll PM you all the stuff I have. Just keep in mind, it's not much. I'm not a very funny person (or original for that matter) so I couldn't come up with anything that's funny. It's all just generic, run-around-in-circles kind of music. But I think that some of it would be good. But I do have ideas that I can't get the words to fit right: On the parts where they say "I am the one blah blah blah..." we should definately take that opportunity to introduce ourselves. Like our names and some wierd aspect of our personalities (Like, "I like Cheese," I dont' know) And if we feel like it, we can even introduce past members. (One of you two would have to do that because I haven't been here since then) After all, this song was based on all Hallows Eve, so I don't see a problem with introducing past members as though they were dead... And then of course DW would have to replace the reference for "Pumpkin King" since he's the captain. But of course, if the team doesn't like 'em I'll go with whatever. I'm just throwing my ideas out there. I'll send the PM your way now... It's not much though.
15. Well, I'm pretty sure that we're the farthest behind in this specific round. So, in an attempt to catch us up, here's the lyrics: Boys and girls of every age Wouldn't you like to see something strange? Come with us and you will see This, our town of Halloween This is Halloween, this is Halloween Pumpkins scream in the dead of night This is Halloween, everybody make a scene Trick of treat till the neighbors gonna die of fright It's our town, everybody scream In this town of Halloween I am the one hiding under your bed Teeth ground sharp and eyes glowing red I am the one hiding under your stairs Fingers like snakes and spiders in my hair This is Halloween, this is Halloween Halloween! Halloween! Halloween! Halloween! Everybody waiting for the next surprise In this town, don't we love it now? Everybody's waiting for the next surprise Round that corner, man hiding in the trash can Something's waiting now to pounce, and how you'll Scream! This is Halloween Red 'n' black, slimy green Aren't you scared? Well, that's just fine Say it once, say it twice Take the chance and roll the dice Ride with the moon in the dead of night Everybody scream, everybody scream In our town of Halloween I am the clown with the tear-away face Here in a flash and gone without a trace I am the "who" when you call, "Who's there?" I am the wind blowing through your hair I am the shadow on the moon at night Filling your dreams to the brim with fright This is Halloween, this is Halloween Halloween! Halloween! Halloween! Halloween! Halloween! Halloween! Tender lumpings everywhere Life's no fun without a good scare That's our job, but we're not mean In our town of Halloween In this town Don't we love it now? Everyone's waiting for the next surprise Skeleton Jack might catch you in the back And scream like a banshee Make you jump out of your skin This is Halloween, everyone scream Won't ya please make way for a very special guy Our man Jack is king of the Pumpkin King now This is Halloween, this is Halloween Halloween! Halloween! Halloween! Halloween! In this town we call home Everyone hail to the pumpkin song La la la la, Halloween! Halloween! (X4) I have an idea for a few verses, but I'm not that funny... I'm still trying to make up stuff that might make someone laugh... As for the midi: I found it... It asked me to download it so I'm assuming that it wasn't already uploaded to a site. I've listened to it, and it's exactly like the song so I'll be sending that your way and you can host it for us unless someone has found something better.
16. Okay, I'll admit: I'm a bit confused on exactly what we're looking for here... I get we need an mp3 or a midi of "This is Halloween." But what am I supposed to do after I find it? Do I link it through the forum? Do I download it and then use a hosting service to put it directly onto the forums? (I'm not even sure there IS a hosting service for music and if there is, I don't know of any) I'm pretty clueless. In any case, I've been searching and any site that has that song, (I haven't found and mp3, but I've found several midi) I've been downloading them and then writing downt the url address... Help me out when you read this.
17. It's too hard to decide, but after extensive thought (and remaking my decision about 30 times) I choose This is Halloween... It just seems like it would be easier to put in jokes and rhymes that sound good and I like the music better. (Even though Aladdin is my favorite movie!) So I guess we're waiting on Kitty to answer...

The Condemned

Has anyone else heard of this move called The Condemned... It's very "Battle Royale"-esque, but it has an American storyline and makes it believable for present day society... As far I can see from the trailer, it's hitting on the Battle Royale series exactly exept the players are condemned convicts (hence the name) and there's only 10 of them. (as opposed to fourty something) All the rest, however, seems to be pretty much the same. After seeing the first two Battle Royale movies, I'm a bit skeptical at how this one's going to turn out. It's a pure guys' movie, no doubt about it, and with all the "americanization" that's happened (assuming this is atually based in BR) I think it would be way better, but still.... Here's a link on Youtube: The Condemned So what do you guys think?
19. Okay... Well I went through and downloaded as much disney tunes as I could find. And then I listened to ALL of them. (every single song the entire way through) As I was listening, I took into count that we would be changing these into humorous pieces and I think I've got 3 pretty good ideas: (Not including the ones that you have named off already) Aladdin - Prince Ali... My reasoning for this is that it's very upbeat and could require a lot of work to make words fit. If we were to pull it off, I think we would be praised 10 fold for it. Plus, at the beginning, there's this whole, "makeway for the king," sort of music (what with the horns and stuff) and we could use that to build up our already inflated egos. :D The Lion King - I Just Can't Wait to be King... To me, this is the exact music I think off when I think of a humorous track to a Survivor soundtrack. It has the right instruments and could be very rewarding if we pulled it off. Lastly: The Nightmare Before Christmas - This is Halloween... While "What's This" is a great track to use, I think that we could easily make a dark humor track with this song... Plus every time they say "Halloween," (which is a lot) we could substitute it for "LOL's." But I'm still up for whatever it comes down to. In the end, we'd still have to find the songs without words. (Which I have no idea how to do, or how to find and MPG or MIDI file of it, or how to host it online for Sandy to hear) Just tell me what you guys think of all of this. In the mean-time, I'll keep searching for possible better tracks.
20. I am very interested in this. I hope it gets started. Name: Tristan Brady Stockard. His mother named him after the famous knight, Tristram of Cornwall from the opera, Tristram und Iseult. Most refer to him as Tristan, but his close friends call him Brady. It was the name his father called him. (Who wanted Brady to be his first name, but couldn't win over his wife) Gender: Male Age: 24 almost 25. He's actually been having a bit of a panic-attack fearing that he may be getting too old for his occupation. Appearance: HERE and also HERE. Tristan stands about 6'1" with brown, naturally curly hair and hazel colored eyes. Specialty: Tristan doesn't really have a specialty. He's more of a "Jack-of-all-trades," and while this is usually perceived badly within the order, it's the only thing that has kept him alive so far. He's a novice hand-to-hand fighter. He's had some training in the martial arts, but never finished. He's also a mediocre marksman. His true specialty is a special type of magic that is rarely practiced anymore. He never finished his training in this either due to certain circumstances, but he knows plenty to actually be useful in battle. Also, when combining this magical ability with his martial arts skills and weapons, it makes him deadly. Weapons: As said before, Tristan is moderately useful when it comes to hand-to-hand combat. Because of this, he wears two Kakute around his middle fingers and two Shuko which are used to hack and slash like a tiger or bear. Shuko can also be helpful for climbing walls. Both of these weapons would be lined in silver. Of course, this method is only for battle. Tristan is a practicioner of Kuji-In and Kuji-Kiri. Kuji-In is a method of meditation (and magic for the extremely well taught) which not only allows the user to increase his strength or speed, but also read minds, see into the future, and heal as well as many others. Kuji-In has 9 hand signs. (much like what you would see on Naruto except these are real and actually practiced by buddhists in REAL meditation techniques. All except for the magic part. That's just for story-telling, and since that's what we're doing here...) Each finger on the hand represents a specific element, thus the handsigns represent elements being used together to produce the outcome: RIN - Power KYO - Energy TOH - Harmony SHA - Healing KAI - Intuition JIN - Awareness RETSU - Dimension ZAI - Creation ZEN - Absolute Kuji-Kiri is a type of written spell (for lack of a better word) that is used to gain control over an element. it uses 9 alternating lines (5 down and 4 across) that are placed over a kanji symbol. For example: Fishermen who wish to have a save voyage might take the symbol for sea or water and draw the "grid" over that symbol to insure their safety even if the boat sinks. Personality: Tristan is very light-hearted. He's your typical alpha-male. (He'll try anything once) At least on the surface. Besides being a public dunce and an, "embarrassment to all males," as his many flings have told him, he's actually very smart. He's moderately OCD. (Room is alwasy clean. Life is pretty much scheduled down to the second. Has to do everything evenly) He's always analyzing things and likes to take in the whole scenario before rushing to conclusions. This if often misinterpretted as cowardism which causes him to rush in anyway in order to prove himself. (that's the alpha-male speaking) He's one of those terribly kind and generous people that you can't help but feel sorry for because even though he acts all nice on the outside, you know he's falling apart on the inside. And he'll never admit that fact either; he doesn't ever let too many people get close enough to see the way he really is. He helps himself last, which is what causes him so much pain. But besides all that, he actually enjoys giving back. If he had the time, he'd volunteer at a homeless shelter or something like that. It makes Tristan happy to know others are happy, and it doesn't matter the sacrifice he has to make. Biography: Tristan was born in New York City to a wealthy diplomat and his dramatically-inclined wife. She had actually starred in three movies before he was born. He had three older brothers and one older sister. Two of his brothers were already in college so he never got to really know them. Tristan's mother passed away when he was two and he and his siblings were forced to move around alot since they couldn't stay home any longer. They lived in several cities throughout the U.S. before they finally moved to Europe. Once again, there was a lot of moving through Europe and Asia. Tristan's Sister became ill and died before Tristan turned 10 and by that time, his only other brother was well into college back in the states, leaving him and his father. Tristan finally moved to Japan with his father when he was 14 and he ended up staying there for several years. He never bothered to learn the language, but he had several friends nonetheless. One day, when Tristan was 16, his father was killed in a bizzarre attack against the American Embassy. At first, people suggested that Tristan go home and live with one of his brothers, but they all had families and he didn't want to impose. Then he was offered the choice to live with his best friend in Japan. He gladly accepted Tristan discovered that his friend's grandfather was a buddhist and when he became curious of the ways, the old man taught him the basics of Kuji-In and Kuji-Kiri. Tristan was a child prodigy when it came to the arts and the man began adding methods, teaching him the abilities of increased strength and stamina; forming his body into a deadly weapon of reason and peace. This is where Tristan developed many of his philosophical ideas. When he turned 18, he moved to L.A. to attend college and live with his brother. He later found out from his best friend that his teacher had passed away due to a heart-attack. The news was strange to Tristan because the Kuji-In kept his teacher in the best physical condition. That's when he learned of The Order. At first, he didn't know what to think of it so he started out as a research guy and provided back up on certain missions that didn't pose much danger. Tristan had never personally seen a shadow person, which was why he never fully committed to the Order. (His logical mind didn't want to believe it was true) One day he actually saw a BEK, and from that moment he knew that they were the ones responsible for his mentor's death. He finished school and joined the ranks of the order, completely thereafter. He has small odd-jobs on the side for some extra cash, (like building homes for low-income families, fixing up cars, or delivering packages across town) but he's completely devoted to the Order. Since he fully joined, he's increased his abilities in martial arts and Kuji-In. Despite his age, he's a very valuble asset to the team.
21. I completely agree. I hadn't even thought of it until you said, but by using a disney song like that, it makes things a lot easier. I was trying to think of a song that we could find the mp3 version without lyrics. (Once again, a disney choice simplifies that) and it would be a lot easier to fit the words in there. So besides the one you mentioned, do you have any other ideas for a song. It would definately have to be upbeat if we're making it humorous... I'll look into some good songs!

Gifts and Curses

"Damn." Brian cursed and sighed as he looked at the time on his watch. He had set it to go off at nine o' clock, but he's such a heavy sleeper, it didn't bother him. The morning sun eventually became so bright, (since there weren't any blinds on the windows) that he was forced to wake up around 11:00am to an empty house. Of course he could have just waited there for someone to come back, but Brian was really hoping to start bright and early to search for Beth and the other missing zodiac. However, if he left by himself, he'd most likely get lost since he didn't live here like the others did. In the end, his impatience got the better of him; He put on his pants, freshened up as much as possible, and tried to get his hair to lay flat without the use of water. It was no use so he headed out, noticing several new holes in the floor where Eddie was sleeping the night before. "More renovations," Brian hadn't bothered to pay attention when Eden was driving him to the house, so it didn't take too long before he decided that he was officially lost. He didn't care much, though because he realized that he ususally finds exactly what he's looking for. Within about an hour, he found himself at the police station and that's when it hit him: After they were all arrested, they had to fill out all kinds of forms and reports. So there should be a record of Beth's address somewhere. "It's worth a shot." The police department must have gotten at least one brawl a day, because when Brian walked in there were a group of four or five thugs sitting in the exact same spot Brian and the others were less than a week ago. Upon entering, they all gave Brain a threatening glare like he was the one to blame. Despite all of their appearances, none of them intimadated Brian like Dani or Charles. Brian was actually surprised to see that neither one of them were there again. "Excuse me," he said as he approached the front desk. A short hispanic lady turned around with an annoyed look on her face. She was filing her nails and chewing bubble gum very loudly. She blew a huge bubble before addressing Brian. "Whatcha want?" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Brian was pissed as he exited the station. Perhaps he was so mad because he actually thought they would give him her address. No such luck. He crossed the street to the bus stop and paced back and forth before finally kicking the bench and cursing at this new pain that was rushing up his leg. "You done yet?" A feminine voice asked. It was deep and sent chills up his spine. In a way, it reminded Brian of Quan. He didn't turn around. "If you're that upset, I could always just give you the girl's address." He didn't see it, but the woman sounded like she was smiling. Surprised at this remark, he turned to see a woman of medium stature in her 30s staring back at him through half framed glasses that drooped low on her nose. She had blonde hair that was pulled back, but Brian could tell it was long. She was wearing a business suit and seemed to pull a piece of paper out of nowhere. "That wasn' so hard was it?" she asked as she stepped forward and put the paper in his shirt pocket. She moved the glass up to their rightful position and gave a smirk of satisfaction. "Who are you?" were the only words Brian could muster up. She ignored his question completely. "But I wouldn't go to Beth's house if I were you." "Why not?" The woman let a girlish giggle leave her lips. She was toying with him in the same way Quan did. "Quan doesn't like it when people don't do what he asks. It infuriates him to know that he doesn't have control. I should say that Beth and a few others fell on his bad side." "How do you know Quan" She sighed as though she were disappointed with his question. "With all the news about the destruction of the Harlem Academy, you should be asking, 'who doesn't know of Therius Quan?' But if you must know, Quan and myself are unfortunate enough to share the same parents." "You two are related?" It didn't really surprise him. After all, she reminded Brian so much of Quan. The woman ignored him again and grabbed his arm saying, "Let's go for a walk." They walked for nearly five blocks in silence before they turned into the main entrance of the park. "Back to the start," He thought. "Who are you?" He asked again "You already know who I am: Quan's sister. But if you're wondering my name, it's Tori." "What's Quan going to do to Beth?" "Why're you so full o' questions? Can't you just enjoy the sunny morning walk?" She was joking of course, but that didnt' keep Brian from giving here a strange look as though he didn't know if he was offended or scared of her comment. "I suppose he'll kill her. There's no telling what kind of sick shit my little brother's into. She may still be alive, but I can't possibly know for sure. When she somehow got around Quan, avoiding moving into that crap-house of yours, she put a target on her back. So did the others." "So there are others?" he asked. "Of course there are. You knew that already. And before you ask, yes I have their names and where they're at this very moment. However, the one that's in immediate danger is a boy named Cairo. He's 'bout to get kidnapped and I don't think you have the resources to save him." She was too much like Quan. Brian could tell that she was on his side, but she had certain attributes about her that he didn't like. She was constantly insulting and condescening. "Why are we having this converstaion then. If I don't have the recourses to save him, then what are you talking to me for?" Frustrated, Brian practically yelled this. "Good question. I'm not sure myself. Jus' thought you looked like you could use someone to talk to. Don't worry, none of you have the resources to prevent his kidnapping, but there is a way to prevent his murder in my favor." They were now passing the lake in the center where a large crowd was gathering around the shores. There were several men in uniform picking up dead ducks and putting them in a container in the back of a truck. Little kids were crying and clinging to their mother's leg. "Well then, how do we stop his murder?" "Another good question. While my brother is addicted to pain, it makes him predictable." Tori said as she sat down on the bench only two feet from one of the dead ducks. Brian was sure one of the men would ask her to leave the area, but they seemed to not even notice she was there. Brian sat next to her before she continued, "But the rest of the zodiac, like you, are too wild. You're all filled with pointless emotions; some are affected by certain emotions more so than others and therefor everyone behaves differently. I can't tell who's going to be kidnapping him or where they'll be taking him," she paused, looking at one of the corpses before continuing, "I can tell you that you'll need Dorian's help." She stood up abruptly as though the conversation was over. Brian got up to follow her. "What're you doing?" Tori stopped and turned. She was annoyed again. "Conversation's over. Find Dorian's your mission. Now go on before things get really messed up." She turned to leave again. "Wait!" He hollered back, "You said that 'crap-house,' was what Quan wanted all of us into. So should we do the oppostie?" Tori bagan walking towards Brian again. She put her arm around his shoulder and talked to him like he was a five year old. "Someone just gave you a house and you want to return it? Of course you stay there. Ignoring Quan could be potentially problematic for ya. Besides, if you want a nice place to live, you should prolly talk to Eden for renovations." She turned to leave again. Brian had so many questions that were still left unanswered. Tori must have sensed that so she turned for the last time and said calmly, "You have an important role here. Starting with this conversation. Remember it and tell all your friends when you see them. And don't worry about Quan attacking you. If he makes a move, I'll know about it and come straight to you. But that's all I can say for now. Until we meet again." Tori shook Brian's hand firmly before finally walking away, leaving Brian abandoned in a city that he couldnt keep from getting lost in. At least his objective just got a little easier: He only had to find Dorian. Still, he couldn't help but think of Beth, Cairo, or the other and how relaxed Tori seemed in the face of her, 'teammate' being killed off.
23. Well this sucks. I had been writing my entry for about two hours (It wasn't feeling it... So I made several revisions) Then I get up to eat dinner, and my mom gets on the computer and exits out of everything!!! I'm mad so I don't know if I have th patience to rewrite it, but I'll try. They say things are alwasy better the second time around anyway. If I don't get it posted by tonight, then tomorrow for sure! ~~~EDIT~~~ What they say about it being better the second time around is a lie. I'm sorry, but I was so tired this time that I didnt' feel the need to include a lot of the conversation with the hispanic lady that I had in my original... I was also fumbling to remember the exact words between Brian and Tori... I like the end part (since I didn't get to it the first time around) but for the most part, I'm disappointed. I hope it's alright though. Vicky, if I went overboard with Tori in any way, I'll change it. Just say the word!
24. I'm pretty sure we decided on you torturing and then Dorian sending his mind to an alternate deminsion, just before you actually get around to the murder... As for me, if I get done with everything I have to do, I should be able to post tonight or tomorrow. I'm way to busy to post right now, but I just wanted to give an update.
25. Well, considering that we're the Lols, I wouldn't have it any other way than humor... But I'm not so sure about any ideas. A nice rock song would be good. We were discussing bands we liked, so if we could find a song from one of those that has a catchy tune, then I think that would be settled. As for the near future, spring break starts on Monday. Until then, I'm going to be very VERY busy... So expect to hear back from me until then... I fell like my brain is going to explode, I'm so overloaded with work right now... (Play, regional speech competition, homework, tests) But have no fear, I'll do my best!
