1. Okay, so I was searching through some old books I had and I came across this series called Broken Sky by Chris Wooding and I actually think it would be perfect for and RPG, but since I'm not the newest member of OB and I'm not the best RP maker, I need your input. I'm still questioning the story line that I would go with, but I don't want it to be anything similar to the original story. (No main characters and such) Since this isn't really a common series, I'll just explain a bit about he world -- worlds. And then I'll leave it up to you to decide if it would be good. Also, if you've read the series, (I've only read the first 4) or if you just have a good idea for a plot, then please help me out. Here's a link to some info on the series not everything is included in there, so I added my own stuff. [link] As far as I'm concerned, there are three races: 1)The dominion people of The Dominions. They are usually caucasian, and have spirit stones. They live in a world much like ours. 2)The Kirins of Kirin Taq. They are usually very dark or grey. This is because they live in a world with a non-moving, permanantly eclipsed sun. Having a spirit stone is forbidden, but that won't stop the kirins in my story. 3)The Resonants. They are able to cross between the world of the Dominions and Kirin Taq, so you could imagine their importance. Even though they are resonants, There are still Shirin Taq Resonants and Dominion Resonants. Resonants can't have stones. It could kill them if they had one. There is also the deliverers and the many monster races, but they don't really play an important enough roll for them to be considered as a character for the RPG. Now, you must be thinking, what the heck is a spirit stone. Well, in the world of Broken Sky, a spirit stone is a stone that is implanted by the diliverer into a baby's back just after their birth. The stones are originally colorless, and the diliverers somehow sees what that baby's gift is and changes the stone. He then puts the stone into the child's back. They are slightly exposed. Some people don't have them because getting a stone is very expinsive. The most you can have is 6, and the more you have, the more power and control you have over the element. Anyway, here they are. This is most of them. I know there are more, but I don't know them all. I was thinking that if anyone wanted they could create their own power and the color of the stone. Red-Amber: This gives the user the power of earth. They can create and control poweful golems, move rock, sand, and clay, sense vibrations in the ground, and create flowers and such. Sky Blue: This give the user the power of air. They can use it to shoot powerful concussive blasts and use it for shields, etc. Black: It is guessed that this stone gives the user the power of metal. A technopath, if you will. Dark Green These people are the pilots. They are the only ones able to drive any type of vehicles, So you can see their importance, and there aren't many pilots at all, so they're in high demand usually. Silver Animal Empathy... Basically it's communication between the user and a close animal. One of the characters from the series is able to see through his dog's eyes and vice versa Red & White Healers. Healers are able to relieve pain by taking it into themselves. They can also heal themselves. Milky White Psychometry There are more, but I can't go into details for lack of time. There are more listed on that link above, but I'm sure that's still not all of them. There are also many other items and races/animals/monsters, but you'll have to read that link up at the top to see. There was one animal that wasn't mentioned and thats the wyverns. They are dragon-like creatures which are controlled by pressing the muscles on the back of their neck. They are ridden by anyone who can't drive using the pilot stone. Once someone acchieves a certain age they are mentally bonded with a wyvern. This helps in battles so you don't have to press the pressure points on its neck; you can just communicate with it. I think that humans are bonded to wyverns with trigger stones which you can read about on that link. Sorry if this doesn't make much sense. Like I said, I'm not sure about how it would work out. Generally, the books are intended for younger audiences, but in the RP it would be M[VLS] the whole works. I need input, I hope some people would be interested. :animesmil
2. Oh wow, I love the idea! I would definately join if you started it up. I've never played DDS so you'll have to forgive me, but what exactly do the demon forms look like? Are they just like savage animals or entities or what??? Also, I figured that the whole Kharma temple thing is something from the game, am I right? Anyway, it's a good excuse to keep the tribes fighting; so they can ascend to the temple and acchieve nirvana, but what's the back story to it? I know you said you were working on the whole plot of the story, but I was just asking to get my interest sparked. I'm also not so sure about the Kharma members mediating the whole thing. I mean I love games, dont' get me wrong. And if you're going for a RPG that is just another version of DDS, then it seems fine. But I thought you were going for a spin-off world that was inspired by DDS. So what I'm asking is why have a mediator? If that whole thing is in there, then it would seem a bit more game-like. But without the mediatior and the rules to inform the kharma temple of a battle attempt just makes it seem more real. (Not that people turning into demons is real to begin with but you know what I mean) Please understand, I'm not bashing, just constructive criticism. Plus, as I said, I've never played DDS. So if I'm being ignorant, please forgive me. It's an interesting idea, and I would definately join. Great find, hope you get it up sometime soon!
3. I was just wondering about one of the characters who was accepted. StarrStruck's character, Mihret Enslin, is in fact a woman... And you said in your intro to the story that a few women do go into battle. I was just wondering why she was called Brother Enslin... Shouldn't we be calling her Sister Enslin??? Just curious.
4. Kyoto, Japan The Shimozato House 5:32 pm Haruki had been home for two weeks and three days. Despite everything that had happened, he couldn't imagine leaving his father's house. It seemed a bit empty at times, but Haruki ignored that by leaving dirty clothes piled on the floor and dishes left on the table and counter. To him, it was so dirty that it looked like Haruki had a room mate. In the two weeks that Haruki had been home, he dedicated himself to the brotherhood. He searched the internet and local library for any details on this beast. It seemed that every ancient culture he read about had one. Haruki began to think that they were all the same creature. Japan called it a demon soaked with the blood of the earth... The wierdest part was that it didn't have a name in any culture, except that it was a demon, beast, etc. Haruki had also been looking in the current news across the world. He had discovered many stories of accidents... And what could be called terrorist actions, but no one saw how it happened. He surmised that anyone who was close enough to see the beast, probably died before they had a chance to tell anyone. He was trying to follow its movements, but they were so erratic that it was impossible to tell for sure which ones were caused by the beast and which ones by something else. The different patterns gave Haruki three possible destinations that the beast was traveling: Towards the U.K., Down central Asia into India. Or east across northern Russia, possibly headed to Alaska. He didn't know weather or not the beast could travel across water, but he didn't deny it since every culture had some claim of it's existence. It seemed like every time Haruki would come close to completing his study of the beast that a new accident would pop up or he would find new information about the beast. In a span of two, barely-rested weeks, Haruki thought it was time to give the brotherhood a rest and do a bit of living. Unfortunately for him, he recieved an e-mail later that day: Brother Shimozato, My name is Tala-Taima. I'm sure you know who I am. I was very pleased to hear of your induction into the brotherhood. I have heard nothing but good remarks from Brother Effrom. I am sorry about your father and while I've never met him personally, my father talked of working with him in America on several occasions. The brotherhood is having a meeting for all new and old members at our underground HQ, and I would like for you to be there. If you wold like, Brother Effrom or myself could meet you at the airport in England. You would need to leave either today or tomorrow. I look forward to seeing you there, Brother Taima Haruki sighed... Maybe he shouldn't have spent so much time eating noodles in front of his laptop. It was finally time to join the real ranks of the brotherhood. At least he would be able to size up the other members and see where he ranks. He searched the internet for tickets to London, but none were available for 4 days. However, there were a couple seats left leaving the airport in 5 hours that went to Berlin, Germany. From there, Haruki could get a later flight to London. Without even glancing for any quicker options, he booked the flight from Kyoto to Berlin at 10:00 pm, and Berlin to London at 5:00 pm the following day. Haruki figured that it would give him enough time to investigate the supposed attack just 20 minutes outside Berlin and he would be able to tell if it was truly the beast or not. Haruki sent a reply to Brother Taima and proceeded to get ready for the trip. He wasn't sure how long it would take so he packed enough to last him a week or two. Then, Haruki took his fully charged laptop and called a cab. He would use some of the small fortune his father left him to pay for the taxi and the plane. With that, Haruki grabbed his weapons and loaded them into their specially designed cases, and headed out the door to wait for his taxi. A few hours later, he was boarding the plane for Berlin, praying that the beast hadn't struck there. If that were the case, then he guessed that it was heading directly for the Brotherhood headquarters; Something that would end terribly for everyone.

And although he's not an expert, Haruki is able to use the Katana and Bow & Arrow when he absolutely has to. Needless to say, he prefers distance fighting. Appearance: Haruki has long black hair, (not long enough to reach his shoulders or tie in a ponytail) and it's usually very messy, Haruki doesn't prefer to waste his time styling. He has dark piercing brown eyes that he uses to intimadate people, but he's also very kind as well. He's about 6'1" and is very fit from the extensive training he's recieved. Haruki usually wears glasses, but he doesn't require them to fight. And you'll usually find him wearing baggy, tattered, teenager-like clothing. Haruki's style is catagorized as "the sloppy genius." He's very smart, but doesn't care to much to keep up with style as long as it won't hinder him in whatever goal he's trying to accomplish. Personality: Haruki is very courageous when he's provoked and prefers to be an intellectual... However, when duty calls, he puts down his text books to defend whoever he needs to. He's experienced a lot of loss in his short life, and he doesn't get along with people who don't respect that. And although he's a "softy," if you rub him the wrong way, you'll learn to regret it. He always wants to be of help, but he always questions his strength so he's never sure how to go about it. Biography: Haruki was born in New York City to his American mother, May and Japanese fater Eito. Haruki was raised to be smart and intelligent. One day, May was murdered in a drive-by shooting and Eito decided that they should move back to Japan. While there, Eito insisted that Haruki bulk up and learn how to defend himself. Haruki, didn't know why his father would make such a request but he reluctantly went along with it and was trained in many forms of martial arts. In his training, he met a girl named Marumi who he liked very much and they ended up falling in love... It was only later that year, that her parents moved to Hong Kong, China and they never saw each other again. Torn up from the loss of his love, Haruki refused any further training. At the time that the beast struck in Warsaw, Haruki's father dissappeared for what he called a, "business trip." Just a short time later, once Haruki had turned 18, he recieved a letter in the mail telling him to leave the country and go to the U.K. Once there, he met with a deligate of the brotherhood and they told him their entire history, and what had happened: Including that his father, a long-time brotherhood member, had been killed by some unknown person while he was in conquest for the beast. It may have even been the beast itself. Haruki, became enraged and immediately re-started training with the brotherhood, perfecting his fighting skills and learning how to wield several weapons. Now, Haruki, a newly-inducted brotherhood member, seeks vengence against the person or thing that killed his father. Snippet: Haruki sat on the floor, his legs crossed. His eyes, however fierce they may be, prefered to stare at the object that rested in his lap. It was a katana. His father's katana, to be exact. He must have seen it mounted in his house in Japan and even America a thousand times. But yet, when Eito left for the last time, Haruki didn't notice that his father had taken it with him. The sheath was a jade green, with a white dragon painted on it and it had two red tassels dangling from it. It was just a year ago that it all happened: The letter he recieved in the mail, the plane ride to London, Brother Effrom briefing him on the history of the brotherhood, all of it lingered like a bad memory in the back of Haruki's mind. He wondered how things would have been different. What if his mother hadn't been killed? He certainly wouldn't have moved to Japan, but would his father still have left to aid the brotherhood after the attack in Warsaw? Would he still have abandoned him and his mother. Haruki hated and loved his father at the same time. His mind wandered to all the times he said something rude or disrespectful and all the times, in his teenage rebellion, told his father that he hated him. And still, Eito had never done one thing to make him feel that way. Haruki was completely alone in life. Of course he had the brotherhood, and his close friend Brother Effrom, but none of that mattered in the heat of battle. His mother was an orphan, and his father's family had disowned Eito for leaving Japan and marrying an American woman. "Oh, Marumi, I wish you were here," He said to himself, thinking of that beautiful angel that graced him with her prescence almost two years ago. "I need you." Brother Effrom had told Haruki that they were lucky to even find Eito's sword. It was buried in the snow in northern Russia and the only thing that gave it away was the red tassels on the white background. And now it was time for the sword to be passed on, like japanese tradition said is should. Haruki thought that he would be recieving the sword from his father's warm hands once he graduated high school. But instead, he recieved a letter from Brother Effrom. In his fury, his eyes became hot, and Haruki had let a tear fall from his face onto the hilt of the sword. He cursed his mother, and father, and Marumi for leaving him all alone, and he cursed himself for not being strong enough. At about that time, Brother Effrom, the English deligate of the brotherhood, entered the room and saw Brother Shimozato setting in the floor, his back rising and falling with his deep breaths. This kid has been through a lot, he thought. And now, it was time that he sent Haruki back to Japan to await contact from the brotherhood. Haruki was only 19 and already he had experienced more loss than Effrom could imagine. It wasn't fair what he had to go through, but the world wasn't fair and sending him back to Japan is what would be best for everyone, whether Haruki realizes it or not. Now that Haruki had become a full-fledged brotherhood memeber, his training recieved diretly from Brother Effrom himself, he had only one more task to complete. "Shimozato," Effrom called across the room, startling Haruki, "it's time to go." Haruki wiped his eyes and turned to face Brother Effrom, his katana in hand. His eyes glittered with despair, but they remained strong, and Brother Effrom knew that Haruki would make it. "As a brotherhood memeber, Eito-- Your father, requested that this letter be given to you upon your induction to the Brotherhood." Brother Effrom handed Haruki the envelope, and he opened it. He sat down to read it and was engulfed by the words that were scratched on the little piece of paper: Dear Haruki, If you're reading this, it means I have passed from this world. I never intended to hurt you and I understand your sorrow, for I too, lost May. And had it not been for that, I might still be alive. I hope that you will forgive me, but without May, I was just a hardened wolf. Your mother softened my heart with her love that we both know all too well. There were so many times that I tried to tell you about the brotherhood, but I decided that you shouldn't know; that you were better off living a life without the burden of a thousand men's deaths on your shoulders. I have faith in your strength and I know you'll do what's right. I can't make this too long, my plane is just about to land in Warsaw. I must tell you that what may have seemed like mere coincidences throughout your life, is all carefully panned. And even though it may seem like a cruel plan, I don't want you to lose hope in the future. Your mother wouldn't want you to lose hope. If you're reading this you're a man now. I only wish I could have stayed long enough to see it happen. I'll still be there, watching and protecting you. And I know your mother will be there as well. Perhaps, one day, we will all meet again. Farewell, my son. With love, Your dear father, Eito. Haruki, calmly folded the piece of paper and put it in his pocket. He picked up his suitcase in one hand and his father's Katana in the other. It was time to go back to Japan. As Haruki and Brother Effrom walked out into the chill London air, he claimed to the world, "I understand father." And then he got into the cab. His Journey home starts now, thought Effrom. and I'm posotive he can do it. OOC: Sorry the snippet is so long. I couldn't help it. :animesmil
6. Many many years ago, when Gaia was first created, she shed her tears of loneliness. The tears filled the earth with beautiful oceans and forests and a sky and a sun and moon and the many heavenly bodies that surround it. Years later, the stars developed a consciousness and decided it was time to govern. So they created man and woman and god. They created the Gods to govern the beautiful aspects of their mother, Gaia. And they created men and women, so they, themselves, could govern their personalities; such is the creation of our signs. Several hundred years passed, and the gods and humans lived in harmony with each other. The 12 gods, which were first discovered by the Greeks, were given mighty names and relations became so familiar between the two that many of the gods began having sex with humans. (Contrary to old belief, the 12 gods were never siblings or in any way related. This was just a way for the humans to describe their creations) Many more years passed, and the signs began to notice that not even gods were paying their respect to them any more, let alone their mother, Gaia. And the humans were being equally insolent. The sexual encounters between humans and gods were getting out of control, and the signs had had it. They commanded that the 12 gods, most of their descendants, and their resilient mortal companions to leave the realm of the earth and create their own place where they could reproduce as much as they wanted, since that seemed to be the only thing on their minds. They also cursed the gods to a life of half-mortality. The gods were no longer exempt from illnesses and hunger and thirst. While they could live for an eternity, they still had to live off of the land much like the humans did. The signs sealed off the two realms and that was the end of it. About 2000 years ago, once the gods had become wise and intelligent, they figured out how to open small portals to the earth, and they disguised them as every day landscapes to hide them from the eyes of the signs. In our realm, the few descendants that remained populated the earth with generations of humans that had a small portion of godly power in them waiting to be ignited. And with the development of new aspects to the earth, more gods were consequently created. Now, there is a god of magic, a god of guns, a god of pestilence, and many more dark gods. When the new gods found the portal to the old gods? realm, an all out war began. The winner, to take possession of both realms. The war got so out of hand, that even the signs began to notice the catastrophic results and in a last minutes decision, granted the gods permission to search for godly descendants to use in their war. In the last battle that was fought between the gods, nearly half of the alliance was killed. (Due to their curse) It is now time for the remaining gods to search out descendants that are scattered all over the earth and find their candidates who will be their next god. Original gods left: Apollo Ares Athena Previously Replaced (real names): Hermes (Markus) Aphrodite (Ginger) Zeus (Zariel) Hades (Hadera) Gods that have died and need a replacement to continue the war: Hercules (God of strength) Artemis (Goddess of the moon and the hunt) Hephaestus (God of the forge and of fire) Ouranos (God of the sky) Poseidon (God of the sea and earthquakes) Now, you will act as a candidate for possible replacement of one of the 5 gods listed above? And hopefully, with your new found strength, you will be able to aid the gods in their mission and end the war once and for all. And I will act as the 7 remaining gods in power. SIGN-UP Character?s Name: (It needs to be something common of the culture that your character is from.) Gender: (Don?t worry if your character?s gender doesn?t match the original god/goddess? genders. Hadera is a female replacement for Hades who was male.) Age: (Between 15 and 25, please. Also, you need to include the character?s date of birth and astrological sign) Nationality: Godly Heritage: (It needs to be what your character is being recruited for. Hercules, Artemis, Hephaestus, Ouranos, or Poseidon) Appearance: (description or picture) Personality: Biography: Special: (This is to explain how your character was discovered as a candidate. These powers can?t be strong, because remember, these Godly characters have been watered down with many generations of human ancestors. For example, if you want your candidate to be selected for Artemis, you might say that he/she is a marksman in archery or that they just always seem to get lucky while hunting, etc.) Extra: (This if for you to tell me if your character has been trained in any kind of martial arts and if they?re able to use a weapon)
