Heheh. Take it from a girl, no one has a chest that sticks out like that. Promise. You seem to have the water coloring down very well. what kind of pastels are you using? they look like hard oil pastels. if thats the case, try layering the colors a bit more, they look scratchy. All in all good work. proportions could continue to improve, but I'm impressed by the hair especially. I'm impressed with the first picture mainly because you seem to have mastered line thickening. this is a great technique to learn, as it gives the picture more depth and makes it look less like a coloring book page. very good job.

OK, there are several ways to go about this. 1. Use the magic wand looking tool to select a certain area. After it is selected, anything you color and erase can only be done in that section. It takes away the problem of not being able to color inside of the lines. 2. Color it like you have been, but using a different brush size. 3. Scan in your drawing and apply another layer. If you color on this layer, it will not affect the other unless you combine them. You can do this by using the layer button. Most important part is practice. If you have any questions, feel free to pm me.

I'd love to take a stab at it. Are there any more specifics about the picture that you'd like to have included?

I completely agree. one way to get into the tokyopop world (yes, even then you need some connections and stuff) is to submit a twenty page comic to them for the RSOM (Rising Stars of Manga) competition. there are six catagories, horror, romance, comedy, sci fi, fantasy and action... i think thats it... anyways, the winners of each of these catagories win 1000 dollars and thier manga appears in a Tokyo Pop RSOM book that they publish after the competition is over. For any more details, I'd just visit the official Tokyopop website. it has all of the guidelines and stuff there.

*hem hem* I also like your drawing a lot. the shading with hatching adds a lot to the picture, but my fear is that it distracts from the other little details that you have in it, like the knives and throwing stars and such. the other thing i wanted to say... i know that my computer may have distorted the image a bit to accomodate the screen, but his torso looks a bit too long, so his legs look a tad stubby. take no insults. i still like your picute.

even without seeing much detail, it looks very cool. i've always been a fan of etchings and carvings. i admire what you're doing with that pumpkin, i'd be too afraid of my images becoming distorted. looks cool, from what i can tell.

I have anime dreams all the time. i think the first anime dream i ever had was of sailor moon (yes i used to be a mega sailor moon fan). the most recent i think was about dn. angel. I was trying to help satoshi catch dark. i don't remember why, but i do know that we failed miserably. but thats ok. i like dark too much to see him caught.

Indeed. something that i really love photoshop for is simply editing my work. after i finish my sketches, i outline them in pen... but, i'm not gonna lie, sometimes my hand slips, and i have a line where it shouldn't be and such. with photoshop, you can clean up any random lines that you dont need. i've been doing photoshop for a while now, and recently i've learned a few awesome toning and coloring techniques as well. all that basically to say, photoshop is my hero. and keep at it! i'd love to see more than sketches. how about a more complete piece?

i'm really a fan of the first one (the black and white with the person holding the child.) black and white is very profesional looking, but it still caught my eye even more than the handprints. It seems like everyone uses hands for logos and things, and i liked the difference in the child one.

Manga Trying to start a manga...need a little help

Well, i have an idea You say you want the characters to be able to turn into animals. i was thinking that maybe it would add a cool element into the story if they could not turn into these animals at will. i don't know if you are into other world type things, but if someone signaled to them from another world using some sort of magical item, they would be forced into that world in their individual animal forms until they are released from service. that was just what popped into my head. i hope its ok. -
Ummm.. i'm a newbie, and i really would like to join... as soon as i figure out how to put pictures on... heh. sorry!
