1. Oi, I along with most of the people here, am definetally looking forward to the new Zelda game, though not much can be said that hasn't already. Ratchet Deadlocked looks to be pretty cool. I dont have a PS2 though. Xbox doesnt have many promising games that I know of, except the strong rumor that Half Life 2 will be coming to it. For the gamecube there is, of course, Zelda, and there may be some cool new Mario game coming out. I dunno. Fire Emblem for the cube may be pretty sweet. For the GBA theres Wario Ware Twisted. For DS there is a whole slew of sweet games, namely Kirby's Canvas Curse.
2. Volume 2 is sweet. While I did love the Accord as a charachter, and the way him and Verosa interact was really cool, but for some reason I feel good about them being hideously maimed by weird beasts. I was almost in tears. Bloom... I imagine him looking like Scruffy from Futurama. This would make a REALLY cool TV show, which is what I picture it as.
3. This is so weird, the staff at my Gamestop and EB Games also have these differences. The idiots behind the counter at Gamesyop seem to know absolutey nothing about video games. The only thing I ever hear them say is "you will need to have your parent approve that you can buy this game because it is M rated" EB on the other hand is almost annoying with their video game knowledge (they often get into nerdy conversations and ignore the costomers) if I take a crappy 10 dollar mech game, they'll be like, "Meh, this game isn't that great. I recccomend Mechassault." And if I take an M rated title to the counter they don't give my mom the whole "this game is rated M for Blood and Gore" my mom doesnt care...
4. Wow, that was interesting. I like the Weasel. I have two questions though, 1. exactly how old is Wichersleeves, and 2. How big is the weasel? Oh, and 3. Why aren't you going to a publisher with this stuff???
5. Exactly what I expected to hear. Dont worry about that. The charachters arent all that great looking, i agree, but they more than make uo for it in personality. these charachters are really cool, and there is a lot of dialog. The graphics are just short of amazing. I have heard the game is quite short, but there are six playable charachters and if you get the special edition version of the game you get a seventh. Also, the sidequests may add extra playtime like in Fable. The battle system is one of the best Ive seen in an RPG. It is amazing. The variety of attacks and enemies are very large, and if you have the difficulty on anything other than student, your gunna get hurt. The only problem is that outside of battle the targeting system is rather poor, but it had to be for the battle system to work as well as it does.
6. Yo, I just picked this game up and it is pretty good. It ain't easy though. You really gotta use all of your skills to survive. I took 8 tries beating the first battle. Only after the battle did I learn I could change the difficulty... oops. The game is pretty sweet, and the voices and music are great. The battle system is sweetbu ttakes some real getting used to. So far the story is really good. I havent checked out the extras yet, but Ill get back to you on that. So... opinions?
7. Oi seeker of blood! If y own a Gamecube and ye love Star Ocean, buy Tales of Symphonia! 60 hours and a great battle system be inhabitin this game!Jade Empire was jist released yesterday, an that be a one ta ramember! If ya like Diablo and Baulders Gate, try Neverwinter Nights, I cant stand the lil bugger, but it sounds like it'd be right up yer alley. If ya like slammin the A bottum hundreds of time and leveling up like a maniac with 20 charachters, try Gauntlet. A'course, ya oughta wait fer the new one to be released later dis year as the presnt one has the crappiest graphics I ever laid me one real and one fake eye on! Pick yer poison, lad!
8. Yeah... I wonder about this a lot. Im up till the late hours all the time and this place is deader than a misty graveyard full of brain eating zombies. Or... make that undeader. Whatever. A lot of the time there are people who come on really late, but just leave because nothings going on, so they go to bed. If only all of them came on at once, them there would be a lot of people here knaamean? Anyway, I am a certified insonmiac.
9. A friend of mine started playing Runescape the other day and he said some guy tolf him to follow. He led him out into the desert, then teleported away... hows that for morality?
10. There are lots of educational games, but they have their own consols. Most of them are some crap system by Milton Bradley or something where you play really odd games. I used to have a really good edu-system though. It was called the Pico, a SEGA system where most of the games were disney and stuff. They were educational, teaching Math, History, and other things, but it was cool because it was done really well and used a touch board which you drew on with a pen, and had a few buttons. The games came in the form of a book on a consol, and flipping the page turns to the next level. There were a LOT of tings to do.
11.
The last Xbox 2 rumor I heard involving hard drives was actually pretty interesting. It basically involved a portable hard drive that would sit inside a shell you could carry around. You could just insert it into your Xbox 2 or someone else's, as if it were a normal memory card. It'd obviously be larger and hold far more, however. I don't remember much more about it. There was discussion on it being a flash drive of sorts, instead of a normal hard drive like in the current Xbox. Who knows. I guess we'll find out when they show the system for the first time on MTV in May... lol. There are supposed prototype pictures of the Xbox 2 controller floating around too. They're kind of in tune with the official pictures of the controller that have been leaked off of ourcolony.net (which is an Xbox 2 related official site). It also goes along with the rumors of there being no white and black buttons. You can see them here: http://www.joystiq.com/entry/1234000263039584/ Still, I hope there is more to them that this because they've basically taken the PS2 approach: making controllers that are almost exactly the same as the last generation.
I have a weird feeling the white and black buttons are going to be like the PS2s R2 and L2 buttons. Those are some interesting pictures, but Im not believing anything until I know for sure. That new FF7 joke is pretty bad. What is CC? Lets see... Advent Children, Before Crisis, Dirge of Cerberus, whats the other? Wouldn't it be interesting if we keep going up until Zeapon Cruisers, the FF7
12. I suddenly want to go out and buy a CD by Chewbacka. That was seriously disturbing. The images of female Wookies and naked Jabba are going to be burned into my mind for the remainder of my existance. Why did it seem like you and Chewy were gay together? Was that just me? I loved the part where Chewy hogs the bathroom. He threw the toilet paper out
13.
What a fool!Do you seriously think Nintendo is doing horrible. You obviously don't play video games of any kind, and you don't know there history.Back when atari relased the game ET,based off the movie, the video game industry was on the brink of destrution, the game barly sold at all and the made more of that game than there were atari's in existence. Some people called this point in time"the crash".Then came along this company. The name of the company was Nintendo. When the NES was realesed gaming sales sky rocketed.Nintendo saved the gaming industy from distruction. And it is also thanks to Nintendo that sony became the gaming empire it is today.Back when sony was a decent sized company it they where trying to partner with Nintendo in the gaming industry,They where going to make an add on to the SNES.Nintendo turned down there offer because they thought it was a bad idea,it may have been i'm not sure. Then sony eventually made the sony playstation. So you see, even if you hate Nintendo you should at least show a little respect for the company that saved the industry that you know and love. oh,and one of sony's up and comin faliures is the $1000 PSX,it's just a PS2 with alot of uneeded hardware.
I didnt see any disrespect to Nintendo in the origional post... What you're saying Otakon, has nothing to do with how Nintendo is doing now. Just because they saved video games in 1985 doesnt mean theyre still doing well. Just look at SEGA, they were doing almost as good as the Super Nintendo with the Genesis, and now theyre practically gone. Also, wasnt the PSX a remake of the PS1? Or is it something new from Sony? I have never heard of this PSX. Look, all of these companies are going to live on. Sony is a powerhouse, Microsoft is the biggest company in the world, and Nintendo is intellegent. There is really no reason to discuss this any longer.
14. I have heard many video game rumors and I want share them. 1. The Revolution: I read somewhere that the Nintendo Revolution will have a controller that is a great big touch screen. This would be interesting for Adventure games, bad for first person shooterss, and the best thing to happen to RPGs since Chrono Trigger. I could imagine a revolutionary menu system and a lot of cool new features. I just hope theres an analog or two on the side, for other games. A really interesting idea is that the controller could be like a GBA with a touch screen. Another rumor about the ravolution is that even if it isn't a touch screen, they have decided to completely annihilate the cross pad. 2. Nintendo Virtual again?: I once heard, quite a while ago, that Nintendo's reason for saving so much money because they want to expand into virtual technologies. Because of the expences, this should take a lot of saving up. 3. Xbox bomb: Rumor has it that the Xbox looses around 100,000 dollars a day on their console. Because of this the Xenon or Xbox 2 should cost around 700 dollars. But, I have also heard that they are planning 3 different versions of it! First, is one that is just the normal system. Second is one that is actually an Xbox 2 integrated into a PC with a screen and everything! This way people could play PC games and Xbox 2 games on the same console, use the internet, and more! I havent heard anything on the third version. So... Comments? Rumors? Anything?
15. I do not believe that any of the systems are going to die. First: Xbox: Even if the Xbox 2 doesnt sell overly well, they could lower production rates and try to make less so that they sell everything. Its not like Microsoft is going to go out of bussiness! Second: PSP: No it hasn't sold overly well yet, but with the high reviews its getting, it could pick up. Once it hits online there is going to be a lot of favor toward it. There is the price point, but this wont matter to the older gamers. There is one major problem. There have been 2 stories Ive heard of dead pixels (one here and one from a kid on my bus). This could pose a huge problem if this keeps happening. Im not paying 250 bucks for a system with no screen! Third: Nintendo: Okay, what the heck are you talking about "struggling to find good titles"? Just because a game isnt good doesn't mean it didn't sell well. SMS, tWW, and Super Smash Bros have all been mentioned, but lets not forget that in the last year there was Metroid Prime 2, Tales of Symphonia, Paper Mario 2, Resident Evil 4,and a slew of other great games. One problem is that without online capabilities it doesnt sell well in the multiconsole race, but games like Prince of Persia and Gauntlet and other action games are best on Gamecube because of it's controller.
16. I havent played many online games, but I know what all of you are talking about Mean: I recently got (and got rid of) Neverwinter nights for the PC. The people on there suck. You can walk into a server where the rules say "no magic or transformations" and find birds and volcanoes sprouting out of the ground. All the people there know each other and kill noobs for no reason. Every time I logged on Id have some jerk killing me over and over. Id say "stop! Im a n00b!" but theyd just be like "duh" and kill me and laugh with their friends. Nice: Ragnarok online was a very friendly experience. My cousin was playing the first time and met a friend in the training ground They stuck together till the end of training. When they entered the real game, they were sent to different cities. They spent hours trying to find each other using long-distance chat. My cousin got into a little feud with some people haning around this place. When he came back, the people appologized. As they started to leave, a level 43 wizard walks up and asks for the friend's name. Then he contacted him, and teleported them both to the nearest town, told them to make that their respawn point, and then left.
17. well, Bloodseeker, your community must not be very diverse. The DS had an opening week as one of the bestselling consoles ever. Millions of people love it, and while it may not have very many notable games now, the coming of Viewtiful Joe, Final Fantasy 3 and Crystal Chronicles, Xenosaga, and many other titles I cant wait to touch, the sales will stay up. The PSP is NOT going to do overly well, because not only did they release it at a completely unaffordable price, but there are next to no big holidays in the coming months. The gamecube is still doing very well. I have known far more people to own a Gamecube than any other game system, firstly because any hardcore gamer is probably going to buy all three consoles, and secondly because every parent who wants to buy their little boy a video game is going to buy a Gamecube bcause they advertise themselves as a kids system. The legend of Zelda not only sold amazingly well, being one of the top sold games of 2003, but also had the highest pre-order count of any game in history. Even if you didn't like the new graphics, if you were a Zelda fan you bought that game, and chances are you liked it. I know i did. Mario Sunshine also sold through the roof because it was a very huge game, and due to the set up being like Mario 64, people knew what to expect. It also came out at a time when practically no great games had come out. Lets not forget Resident Evil 4. This game got higher reviews than any of the 2004 games. It sold through the roof because of tons of advertising, a huge fan base, and lots of extraa stuff like the Chainsaw Controller and the special edition version. The Gamecube's sale rate, while not overwhelming, has remeined practically the same over the last 4 years, and if it could hold its own then, it can hold it now. Lets not forget my favorite system ever, the GBA. The GBA sells a TON of units yearly. Old school gamers who dont have any new systems will reach for this because its the cheapest. The same goes for the Gamecube. The GBA also has the excelent SP, which still sells pretty well, also. Because the GBA and SP come in so many different colors and variations (I have an arctic GBA and a classic NES SP and couldnt be happier) it sells a lot. The point is, like the others said, Nintendo may not be the Wal-Mart of the gaming industry, but like the Dollar Tree, its cheep and has a lot of fans.
18. man, I wish i had known that before I had gotten rid of my DVD defective PS2. I always wondered why I could only play my older games like I Ninja and Jak and Daxter, but not Rachet and Clank 3. Unfortuanetally, I couldnt send it in because some idiot ripped off the warranty. You may wanna check to see if youre warranty sticker is still there. Otherwise you can only sell your PS2 for 25-30 bucks! Anyway, I dont really like Xenosaga.
19. Gas prices are like the frikkin stock market here in Virginia. One day we were driving down the road and I saw a sign that said 1.80. The next day the exact same sign said 2.10! I was beffudled. While I think this boycotting idea is interesting, I seriously dought it will make any difference unless it hits the air (TV)
20. While I have played, like, a buhmillion zelda games (out of the twelve that exist) but the only one Ive beaten is the Minish Cap. My favorite, though, has to be Ocarina of Time. I have watched someone play through this 3 times, and I never get tired of it. The story is amazing and really deep. The game is easy to learn, and easy to play, but not so easy that it stumps you. The only problem I have is that some of the puzzles are so CRAZY HARDCORE that they are impossible without a guide.
21. Anything is better than Pokemon Colloseum... I would also liek to see an Earthbound remake, and I have always been buffudled as to why 1&2 never made it stateside. Youd think the demand would be high, but I guess since Earthbound never had a big fanbase here, it makes some sense. Wouldn't it e cool if some next-generation Nintendo console had a game with like 50 NES games or something? Just a thought...
22.
Have any of you even[I] heard [/I'] of Tales of Symphonia? I'd have to say that it and Final Fantasy IX are my two favorite games. I mean, come on, the intricate story line, the unexpected plot twists, the undeniable fact that those games are addictive? And don't forget Tales of Symphonia's unique battle style. The only downside to FF IX would have to be the somewhat DBZ feel that I get from it, but I guess that would have to be part of its charm.
I agree that Tales of Symphonia is a truly great game, but I havent played much of it so I dont know just how great it is. The charachters are possibly the best charachters in any game I have ever played, which is why I would never in my LIFE compare it to Dragon Ball Z. I love that its very lighthearted and I feel comfortable playing it. One problem, if you can call it that, is that I tend to drink excessive ammounts of lemonade while playing it.
23. 11. Sonic Advanced: This is a surprisingly fun GBA title. There are plenty of unlockables, and multiple ways to play through each level so that they dont get boring when playing again. The Tiny Chao Garden is a nice addition, especially in conjunction with Sonic Adventure 2 Battle. Right here was a pretty huge step forward for me. From this point on I have chronicled the games I beat, and how many times Ive beaten them. I try to get my time of completion and times beaten as well. Untill this time I was only into GBA games and anime. I only ever really played my brothers games. 12. Sly Cooper and the Theivius Raccoonus: Anyone who has known me well here on OB knows that I love this game and that the final boss gave me a really hard time. This game helped me get back into gaming. It took me 5 and a half hours, though I never got every last collectable, because I bought Ratchet & Clank the day after beating it. 13. Ratchet & Clank: In my search for old PS2 games, I came across this. I was hooked and I blazed through in around 17 hours. Once again, I didnt get all the collectibles, because I didnt know they existed. I plan to go back and really beat it over the summer. 14. Mario Power Tennis: Wow, this didnt take long. I just stayed up all night and beat every tournament with Daisy. When I woke up, I was like a hero to my brother. 15: Ratchet & Clank Going Commando: This is my favorite game of all time. The platforming, the weapons, the insaane hardness, the humor, and just knowing theres a plot twist right around the corner. I have a lot of the collectables, but not all of them. This game took around 23 hours. 16. Halo 2: I got it for Xbox on Christmas and just couldnt put it down. I finally completed it on co-op mode. I play multiplayer all the time with my brother and my friends. This game doesnt tell you the times, but Im guessing it took around 8 hours or so. 17. The Legend of Zelda the Minish Cap: This is probably one of my favorite Zelda games because its so lighthearted and stuff. Its a little short though. I REALLY wish it told you the time of completion. My best guess is that it took me 7 hours. 18. Metal Arms Glitch in the System: This is a truly amazing game, though underrated. There were a lot of fun times, although even on easy mode this game will hand you your butt with a side of fries. 19. Mechassault: I just beat this the other day. Its a really fun game, with some difficult parts that you can pull through with practice. My only complaint is that you usually have to have lost on a level once or twice to beat it. Thts all for now! At this moment Im working on Tales of Symphonia, and Ill be getting Jade Empire and Final Fantasy 1&2 soon.
24. As a semi-newbie gamer, I have only beaten 19 games in my entire life. Looking back on them I realize how foolish I was as a child, playing through the first few levels of every game I rented over and over, not realizing there was so much more. As I read other people's posts about older games that are so cool, I always seem to want those games a lot. Then I thought, well, I can make up for it be beating every game I come across from now on. Here are the ones I have beaten and what I think of them. 1. Pokemon Red Version- The first game I ever beat. God I love my gameboy. I'll never forget playing through every gym, and them playing the Pokemon League over and over again, until I could get a Porygon. I leveled up a Venusaur to 98 without ever giving it a rare candy. I had tried to use a Gameshark to get free Pokemon and it screwed my entire file over. 2. Pokemon Snap- A really easy, but really good game. Getting a picture of every Pokemon was extremely fun. Even my mom played the crap out of this game. She even bought an issue of Nintendo Power just to find the last photos. 3. Pokemon Silver- Wow. This is easily one of my top five favorite games ever. Not only was it really long due to the 16 Jyms, but it also had the "final boss", Red, at the top of Mt. Silver. I never liked Ruby or Sapphire because the just cant compare to this. 4. Mario Party- I really played the living crap out of this game. It was truly increadibly boring, and you were constantly taking breaks during your opponent's turns. It was an easy game, though, so I was able to spend hours on it with no complaint. 5. Golden Sun- Yeah, theres quite a gap in time here. I spent about a year before this watching people play Zelda, playing Super Smash Bros Melee and raising chaos in Sonic Adventure 2 Battle. Finally, when I bought this game, I got HOOKED. The only other RPG I had played was Pokemon, so this was new to me. I spent an entire 7 day road trip dedicated to playing this game. I logged a complete total of 50 hours into this game. Definetally in the top 5. 6. Metroid Fusion - Wow. Never has such a short game proved so difficu;t and so addicting. I really struggled to beat this the first time. I had just learned to use GameFAQs, and man did I need it. This game has quite possibly the highest replay value of any game ever, as I have beaten it 5 times. 7. Soul Calibur 2 - This is quite possibly the best fighting game I have ever played. The story mode was a total friggin pain, and getting all the crap for the charachters was maddness. My crazy cussing cousin helped me out a lot on this one. 8. Robotech Macross Saga - This is the best side-scrolling shooter I have ever played, even if there are only ten levels. There are some RPG elements in that you can level up your charachters. Unforuanetaly, I could only even come close to beating the game with 3 charachters because the others suck. 9. Kirby Nightmare in Dreamland - Man, this game is cool. Not only does it have all the classic Kirby sidescrolling anyone could ask for, but it has cool mini games and lots of extra crap. Like Metroid Fusion, it has a really high replay value. 10. Metroid Zero Mission - Another great Metroid game. This game is really hardcore. Sometimes I found myself in a large area just shooting things in hope of finding the next passageway. I'll post the others soon, but now is my bedtime. So, what games have you beaten? What were your experiences with the games?
