My favorite charachter from any RPG.... I can't decide. I really liked Auron from Final Fantasy 10. He had that whole cool attitude. Oh! I know! I like Isaac, Ivan, Garet, and whats her name! Never heard of them? Those are the four main charachters from Golden Sun! Golden Sun is probably the best RPG ive ever beaten. (the only one Ive ever beaten). Sure there wasn't much charachter development, but those little dudes rocked. Garet being the talkative one with all the questions. Ivan was the little nice guy. Isaac was so clueless. And whats here name was a needed deviation from the game chick steriotype. Great charachters. Then there was Saturos and minardi, who were like the evil version of Teem Rocket. (no teem rocket is not evil.)

woah now, that isn't true. I wasn't expecting cool battle scenes, because it was only rated PG13. I also had no idea it was a CHinese movie. The comercial didn't say anything about that. The battles in the movie were so (and I will be harsh) horrible, that I would have prefered there be no action AT ALL. I was expecting a better story. Kill Bill wasn't ALL about the blood. Kill Bill had a great story of revenge and hate. Most Chinese legends I have read and seen have been eally good. Even the ones that are about morals and not action at all are better than Hero. You may have liked the story.... I DIDNT. Sure there was a dramatic difference in each flashback, but all of them involve the same three people doing practically the exact same thing. Some parts were all right, like when he knocked over all those scrolls, and when BS wen't over to wipe the water off of FS's cheek. But the OVERALL story was just wrong. You said yourself that the lie was evolving, but I would have enjoyed it a heck of a lot more if it was just the truth. And I don't see how the guy was a hero. (and quite frankly, I don't care)

Here in Richmond G4 is on regular cable... anyway, its not really that the games I liked weren't on there. I didn't really play many games this year. In fact, all I did was buy a whole bunch of PS2 launch titles! I pretty much didn't play anything new this year except Mario Power Tennis and some GBA games. All the games that were nominated were 1) the obviouse most popular games that didn't really deserve some of the ratings they got. For example, while the media hyped the h$ll out of Halo 2, most Halo fans that I know were really dissapointed. 2) There was not a single d@/\/\ /\/ Nintendo title that wasn't a handheld. When yOU WATCH G4, you get REAL gamers up there, talking about the great games they reviewed and played on their shows. Real gamers vote for the games on the website. And most of all, they wait till the year is OVER to do the awards. Wouldn't it be funny if one of the December titles rocks the world?
-Jet Li's acting, I agree with Lore. Li's character (Nameless) was not meant for emotions and drama; you got enough of that through his many stories. He was there to accomplish a goal. He was an assassin.
But thats not exactly true. There were plenty of parts where he had a clear empathy towards his opponents that should have been shown, but this guy kept the exact strait face through the entire movie. I might have bee moved a little more if he actually showed some feeling. I understand that the colors are great. I agree. I also agree that the battle with Sky was freiking awesome. But the flashbacks were pretty much the same thing every time! I cant remember what those words were, but Snow kept saying this one phrase over and over again. Seeing these people die once was alright. Seeing the people die 6 times, allways from a stab in the stomach, is just wrong. When the green scene came, I was kind of relieved, but then it went back to the crap. There was so much power put into the red scene, only for it all to be a lie! That was kind of like watching thirty minutes of absolutely nothing! Then, we see the kings version. But since that turns out to be incorrect, I gain nothing from that either. The only thing I truly gained anything from, and that was the last scene, which I didn't like. Also, the king kind of had some kind of growth spurt in intellegence. In the beginning, he doesn't even know his own countries language, then suddenly he is extremely intelegent. Not to mention the whole thing with Nameless and Broken Sword (BS for short hehehe) coming from the same place ir whatever was weird. I give it a four out of ten

I went into the theater to see Hero in hopes of seeing the bloodless version of Kill Bill. I was expecting something that had a great Saiyuki style story with plenty of action. I also expected it to be like Ninja Scroll in a way. All of that desintegrated into what I conisider to be one of the most dissapointing movies in the last few years. I was perfectly fine with the unexpected fact that it was all Chinese. I watch a lot of my anime in Japanese. It wasn't bad to me that it was all a flashback. I was still expecting greatness. I loved the beginning. The battle with Sky was AWESOME. The music was great, the story was looking good, and everything was brilliantly colored, as so many of you have said. Then the whole thing hit the ground hard and fast. First there was the whole "calligraphy" scene. This seemed to drag itself out. And when the arrows started launching, I kept thinking, this is too predictable. Everything that happened at that part seemed so obvious that it was going to happen. Then there was just ALL this CRAP, and I was starting to get bored. Finally, things were wrapping up, and nothing was too horrible. Then the unthinkable happed, the entire thing was done AGAIN! Thats right, when this king thinks about the story, half the thing was done again, in a modified way. The same psople died, the same people cried, and the one good battle was never seen again. The actual major battles were just as repetitive as the story. The flower pettal thing was just the screaming lady charges, the other lady dodges, the screaming lady charges, the other lady dodges. Then there was the lake battle. One guy jumps, the other guy jumps, they bash swords, they jump, they bash swords, it just happened over and over! Half the battle was showing there FEET!!! The only other battle that was even lightly appealing was the battle in the green place, but that wasn't even all that great. I don't really see why the one guy liked the king so much.
In the end, the king is spared. They could have left it at that. I would have still not liked it, but not hate it. Then the most horrible thig happened. The hero died. Dead. Gone. The king should have spared him! Or if he haldn't, the hero could have blocked the D@M# arrows!
I hated Hero. Period.

Gaming Your Ideas on the best video game
2010DigitalBoy replied to Kiba_the_Chosen's topic in Noosphere
There are plenty of FPS games with RPG elements and RPGs with FPS elements... I don't know what rock people live under lol. Bungie certainly isn't going to pave the way for something that's existed for years and years. I'm not including RPGs that happen to be in first person, such as Morrowind, Wizardry or the Xeen games, because they don't really mesh with the idea of a FPS... They do exist though. Most of them are for the PC, however. Both the Deus Ex games fit into this, although the first moreso than the second. The System Shock games are also excellent examples and I really recommend both of them. I recently picked up Deus Ex 2 at Best Buy for only $8 and the first one is sometimes on cheap-o racks. They're not hard to find, nor are they expensive. In fact, I'd say System Shock 2 is my favorite PC game in general. There's also the No One Lives Forever titles, which while they are mostly shooters at heart, feature lots of exploration and problem solving. The second one makes use of an experience point system that lets you increase various stats of your choosing. I can't remember if the first has that or not. Vampire Bloodlines is a recent RPG that's played in both 3rd and first person, with the gun segments mostly being FPS in style. Usually in these RPG-style games, however, you can't really just easily run around and blow crap up because stats directly influence your firepower prowess. There's more out there and I know of a few for consoles as well, but I have to get going.
Thats not quite what I was thinking... I was thinking more in terms of a turn based or time based system, where you would be walking along, when suddenly your in an FPS battle. Like a first-person Tales of Symphonia. But your lists and ideas are good too. Heres my dad's idea. He said to create a christian game, where you go on adventures helping people trying to be saved and create justice in the world. I heard that a game like this was in creation, but that doesn't stop it from being a good idea. Im not to sure about his idea myself. Maybe if it was a first person RPG..... -
Im not watching it for a single good reason. It was obviously payed off by sony and Microsoft. Why? Because the ONLY Nintendo games nominated are the handheld ones. Not a SINGLE OTHER Nintendo game was NOMINATED! Screw spike TV.

SPR WAS pretty bad, but not nearly as bad as Chefs Love Shack. It advertises its great minigames, but in actuallity, its a quiz game that only hard-core South Park fans in their mid thirties could figure out, and there are only a few crappy mini-games that only come around around every 10 turns.

I have always been a green day fan. I met them when they were first getting started. My parents were managing a clothes line on a tour called Lalapalooza. Green Day was there and my dad gave them free clothes. I met the drummer and we skipped rocks. The drummer ALSO went on to WEAR THOSE PANTS AT WOODSTOCK 95! Great.... I love their new CD. American Idiot is a cool and funny song. Ive had that freakin Boulevard of Broken Dreems song stuck in my head since it came on.

I personally felt this album was a good idea. The only dissapointments I have are that A. Some stuff sounds kind of weird and B.Linkin Park cusses in these songs! I KNOW there will be other bands that will do this, mostly because its the studio that puts this crap together, and also because on the live TV version it wasnt called "JZ+LP it" was called "MTV ultimate mash ups"

Anime At what age did you start watching anime?
2010DigitalBoy replied to Elk's topic in Otaku Central
When I started watching anime, I hadn't yet known what it was. I started with Beast Wars, one of the coolest shows ever. I loved that show to death. I later became interested in DBZ, but I wasnt much of a fan. I then discovered Pokemon, and I was and still am one of those crazy buy-all fans. Then, in 2002, my cousin started to get into anime with Cowboy Bebop. Me and him became hooked, and constanly watched Cowboy Bebop, Yu Yu Halsusho, and some of the othe Adult Swim shows. The release of Inuyasha got us really into it. My cousin began to buy the VHS movies. We watched Blood, Vampire Hunter D, X, and Ninja Scroll, and then we got so hooked, that my cousin bought a DVD player just for anime. We started buying Anime Inside, Animerica, and looking online. Now Im always up-to-date with anime. I own 36 DVDs and my cousin owns around 50. I stopped collecting a while ago because i knew that the fall would be the best months in Gaming history/ -
Pokemon Snap was a great game! there were all kinds of secret special things, and you could spend plenty of time trying to get the best score. My MOM beat that game. Finding Nemo for the GBA SUCKS. I am all about games for kids, but most of these freaking Disney games are confusing and hard like this one. Another bad game like this was Donald Duck Going Quackers for the N64. It was weird, screwed up, and difficult, and the game never seemed to want to save.

Hmmmm............ has anyone ever played Pac Man World 2? I think it was on all of the consoles..... it had the worst camera ever. you would jump completely foreword, and the camera would e everywhere. When you did jump, you would turn in your jump and stuff. The platforming wasn't terrible, but you could beat the game in under 2 hours. The only reason I stopped playing it is because the camera made it impossible.... I gotta go

Kyohen became infuriated with all the waiting. His stomach was almost as empty as his patience. "dammit Arturos, when are we getting there?" "no need to use bad language, there are only 6 hours left in the trip." Kyohen thought of speaking back, but some spark of intelegence popped up in his head and told him, just shut up and go to sleep. Jarod noticed this and it nearly made him laugh. He thought of how Kyohen had become the fool on this journey. Kyohen sulked in his misery. OOC: when are we getting there, man?

Wow, that Kuja thing was increadible. James totally put him down... and it all started so simple with an innocent letter, than turned to hell in the form of... a trial? What was that about? Anway, I cant wait for the second story. Maybe you could compile them all into some sort of novel..... And I keep hearing everyone talking about your numerous other works. Perhaps you are interested in releasing a SEXY thread with all of your sexy stories in them, assuming your sexy enough for that kind of thread...... are you? :p -
I pretty much do what you do if its really good, maybe not in that order. if I see a second series of something on TV and love it, the first thing I do is search the web and research until I know everything that isnt a spoiler and sometimes more. I usually base the rest on pictures, music, and however much money I have, which is hardly rver anything.

Gaming Your Ideas on the best video game
2010DigitalBoy replied to Kiba_the_Chosen's topic in Noosphere
An FPS--RPG woud be a great idea! I totally support that idea. Which reminds me of a different thread that involves Samus, Master Cheif, and KOS-MOS. After watching the newest episode of Judgement Day, where they said RTS needs a kick in the ***** like Fable kicked RPGs in the *****, I got to thinking of a way to make an interesting and innovative RTS. Something that could blend the lines beetween turn base and action games. Or maybe, it could have a timing system like Final Fantasy VII, where it fills reletively slow, but well enough to keep the action going. Or even better, a mix between Tales of Symphonia and a Fire Embleem style RTS. You do all the RTS stuff, then when you get into combat, its real-time. -
Thank you for the honor. Heres mine. ( :tasty: My caption is: mmm.... brains.) But I'm not gunna let myself win.
-
HAHA! Brilliant! I could totally see the three of them teeming up. But wait, isn't there a different sony person? Maybe someone who has a full body suit, so that not even their face shows? What about that shinobi chick from that newer shinobi game? Either way, I love your combo. I could see Kos MOS talking most of the time. "Samus, my sensors do tot compute this life form" and Samus replies by blowing the creature to bits. Then Master Cheif turns to Samus and hes like "I need a weapon." Samus proceeds to show him a storage of extra guns in her ship. The three start to become friends and lear to fight together. Brilliant!

Kyohen stared blankly foreword. Arturos' practice was better than this. Suddenly he saw a flock of birds to the left. He thought for a minute, then had an idea. He took out his bow and pierced one of them through the heart. But he felt as though this were a waste of bird. He thought about it, and put his bow back "hey, dragon guy" "its Sonic" "yeah, whatever, can you breath fire?" "well, duh. im a dragon." "well your hungry right?" "maybe a little" "can we cook one of those birds?" "a felow flyer? never! I was thinking we cook you!" Kyohen was startled, but realized it was a joke and hoped the dragon didn't see that other bird...
