In my home life, I am a manipulative uber-control-freak who bends everyone around me to my will. None of my famly members trust me at all, but i always get what I want from them. In my social life, I take backseat and let others lead me along. I am only slightly assertive.

I agree about Bohemian Rhapsody. It is one of my favorite songs ever. But I don't care much for anything else I've heard. i rather like Killer Queen... I think the End of Eva AMV to the live versionof Bohemian Rhapsody is one of the best experiences you can find.
This anime is the weirdest anime I've ever seen. It blows holes through Excel Saga and even cromartie. It takes strange to EPIC levels. That said it's a great show. The music was incredible. The only anime with music that is better is probably .Hack//Sign and that's it. The character designs were strange..but in a good way. The characters themselves were twisted and turned until they have been developed to an amazing level. Taking someone seemingly useless and showing you their entire life in different lights. The whole Lesbian thing didn't even occur to me until after it was over and people called it Yuri(although if it was actually real Yuri I am pretty sure I would notice...I never saw a graphic depiction of any chicks getting it on). Overall it isn't my favorite shoujo. Actually I think calling it that is kinda silly. I mean I can easily see how a male could enjoy every moment of this. Oh and I luvs Nanami!
I think it's described as shoujo because of it's fairy tale nature and because, in the end, it really is a girl's coming-of-age tale. I completely forgot to mention the fabulous music. This is one of the very few anime I actually would like to buy a soundtrack for. Zettai Unmei Mokushiroku is the ultimate anthem. I plan to do my own (English) black-metal version of it sometime, lol. the lurics to most songs were so absurd, yet so brilliant.

I am a huge PSO fan who would readily join a PSO rp and has tried to create oe here before. The reason I will not join your rp is because your 'great story' is one paragraph, and you used every color in the rainbow on the sign-up page. i hate when people do that.

So I just finally finished Utena. Right after it ending, my first thought was ‘I wish there was more’ simply because I’d spent so much time with it, but honestly, i’m glad I get to move on now - 39 episodes was a lot in under a week ^^;; Ah, where do I begin in talking about a show like this? Well, a lot of it I like to compare to NGE. Mostly because it starts as a rather lighthearted show with very serious moments, and gradually becomes darker and darker until it reaches te point of being disturbing. Disturbing in a way, though, that I love so very much. The things that will stick with me after watching Utena are the characters, the imagery, and the ending. And, of course,
that everyone ****s everyone in this show. Seriously. The chicks did the dudes, the chicks did the chicks, the dudes did the dudes. I’ve never seen such a hive of STDs in my life XD Nevertheless, the show had some great characters, detestable as many of them were. I find it funny that I ended up feeling a little sorry for Saionji and Nanami, despite both being such utter pricks at times. In the end, there wasn’t really any character who I absolutel hated… okay, I hate Akio, but then again, he’s the bad guy, you’re supposed to. The show showed all the characters in their serious and goofy moments, so that ou really got to know all of them in every way. I like that each of their individual stories is left open almost entirely, leaving you only with the knowlege of how the characters have grown. In that way, I feel there was a spectacular effort in focusing completely on the characters and not the story itself. What amazes me about Utena is that it can be cheesy, totally formulaic, repeat itself, waste time, and do it all with such utter skill and awesome that I don’t even mind it. That’s what makes the show endearing - while you know what to expect from each episode in that season (a bunch of duels and random Nanami adventures) you still want to see how they’re going to portray it. I also think that the formulaic nature of the series is what strengthened the final saga in a lot of ways. At that point, the plot is all coming together, but it keeps you in total suspense and only reveals it’s hand at the very last minute. There was really no way to predict how it was going to end. And when it did end, it did so with the sort of epic flair I was hoping for. The ultimate sacrifice of Utena and everything about the final stage, namely when the swords came down and destroyed the entire structure was simply awesome. It even had a nice conclusive aftermath that leaves enough to the imagination but still tells you what’s happening. Now, to get down to the juicy stuff. The symbolism in this show was simply awesome. All the rose and sword stuff, the constant power struggle and right down to the tower (I love when Akio says ‘a child can never understand the importance of this tower.’ He means what you think he means!). There was so much damn sex in this show, to. Even the implied Utena losing her virginity or whatever. This part was a little over-the-top for me, actually. When Akio went down on his fiance’s own mother (and neither character shows up again either) I was thinking they might be pushing it a little. Then again, at some point, sex really lost it’s maning in this show. (that point was probably when I realized that Akio and Touga were sleepin together, despite Touga chastising lesbianity earlier, lol). Still, it was all cool in the end. I’d say my favorite part of Utena is just all the trippy stuff that goes on. From the shadow theater representing each episode’s concept, to the extremely odd stuff going on in the student council room (my favorite was the invisible train), right down to Miki’s stopwatch. The show takes so many libertes with reality, and that’s what made it so much fun. Again, there was a time when I had a problem with this. Namely, when it turns out that Souji’s entire reality was an illusion - it made things a bit difficult to comprehend for a bit and just seemed a little too extreme. mkostly because the whole 2 episodes that spent a lot of time on his backstory were a total waste. In any case, this was definitely a fun, interesting, and cool show that I’m happy to have seen, even if it did take up 18 1/2 hours of my life, lol. i guess now I need to hunt down the movie. Though, like with end of eva, I think I’d like to let the series sink in a bt before I go for the film.

Isn't this kind of like the Games you STILL play thread? In any case, my list is the same, and since that post was rather long...
Ah... well, because my brothers' insufferable acttions are my own suffering, I will talk also of the games they play too much. Since it's release in February 2002, we have collectively never really stopped playing Sonic Adventure 2 Battle. It is easily the game that we have clocked the most time into. now, for the first couple years there was actually a lot of game playing. We've beaten the game quite a few times and played certain missions several thousand times. But, of course, it's never really been about the game. It's always been about the chao garden. I can tell you... EVERYTHING... about chaos. We've researched them to minute detail. We've breed hundreds of the little buggers. Even though I've never really been into it at all, I was roped into doing most of the resarch as well. It's a thing that often gets forgotten about for months at a time, only to boil to the surface once more and devour two weeks of time from my brothers' lives. It's a sick, sick obsession. So, recently my brothers were warped into it again. My bro got a chaos chao and declared himself 'done' while my other brother only got jealous and created his own chaos chao and now spends supurfluous time levelling it in spite of complaints all around. Even my bro, who has always considered this one of his 3 favorite games ever and the one that created his Sonic obsession, has officially declared it a crappy game that he doesn't want to see anymore. ...I know he's lying to himself, though, cuz right now he's in there with his stupid friend and our youngest brother playing the first 10 seconds of Iron Gate to get power-ups, going back, giving them to chaos, rinse, repeat, eternalize. Anyway, numbers 2 and 3 are two extremely excellent games that we only stopped playing over the course of the past year due to complete and total oversaturation. While we did have one of them for a far longer time, the other is a game that we played so increadibly profusely in the time we've had it that it is rediculous. Phantasy Star Online is the game in question here, and let me tell you why I've come to hate it. You see, my brothers are idiots. Even though we've had characters with which we've reached the final boss of episodde 2, those characters are gone (data corruption - happens a lot with this game) and I cannot possibly tell you the number of characters we've had. There've been those who reached the level 20s or 30s, though most have either been in the teens or single digits by the time we cast them aside. Each of us has had every race and every class and knows how to play like a complete pro with any of them. I could draw you a map of Forest 1 and 2 right now. Even though I haven't played the game in 6 months, I know it like the back of my hand. So what finally got us to stop playing? Phantasy Star Universe, of course. Okay, PSU isn't multiplayer. But... at that point, the other two can watch the first one play and probably imagine themselves playing alongside them, lol. I, personally, was tired of PSO a while ago, but my bro needed the new game to get him to forget the old. BTW, I almost always play FoNewrl if you're interested. Next is Super Smash Bros. Melee. Because of the fact that, over the years, we've both had a thousand memory cards and only one memory card for long periods of time, we have had a very substantial amount of files for this game. And, of course, had to unlock every character almost as many times. I don't know if you know this, but to get Mewtwo alone you are required to have 20 hours of play time. Now imagine that times 11 or so. Yeah. So, I can also tell you how to get just about anything in this game. Why do we not really play it as much now? Well, because my brothers can't beat me. I'm just too good - I play Samus BTW. Not to mention there's only so many characters that are very fun to use, and the game just gets boring the buhmillionth time. Now, this one is a bit more of a recent vintage, since I've had it since Christmas '04 but I'm still not bored of Halo 2. My brothers and every friend we've had since that time have clocked insane amounts of time into multiplayer (there was even like a month where we played it on Xbox live after getting our 360). I gotta say, it remains my favorite multiplayer game. Unfortuanetally, 90% of our play time is either at Coagulation or Sanctuary. (mostly the former) Coag is the only good map from the original pack IMO. The Multiplayer Map Pack actually has plenty of cool ones, but Sanctuary is the best. For my brothers, any of the Pokemon games count. They still play all of them. I think that covers most of it.
He talked about Gantz and violence, and your bringing up Excel Saga? Come on now... Berserk. The most violent show ever. fantasy settng, wonderful dark storytelling, great characters (hehehe), and more blood than you can ever ask for. Elfen Lied. A lot of people don't like the combination heartwarming and disturbingly brutal cmbination because it toys with your emotions and exists mostly for the purpose of being extremely brutal, but it's still pretty fun to watch. Expecially because it's amazingly brutal, lol. The first 5 minutes are one of the b iggest slaughters ever.

Anime What are You Watching/Reading Now?
2010DigitalBoy replied to 2010DigitalBoy's topic in Otaku Central
Only 9 more eps of Revolutionary Girl Utena! I swear to god, this show is bat **** insane, but I'm loving every minute of it. On the side, I've also picked up Scrapped Princess since everyone and their grandma seems to love it, and I should probably hurry up and just watch Nadesico already. -
Actually Naruto has no super powers. If you know well enough and seen enough then you'll know what I mean. Chakra and hand motions are all things incorrperated with a ninja's ablitity. It is not magical or supernatural. Just plan ninja skills using the physical and spiritual powers.
Hah. I'd like to see any human pull that crap off - I'm calling 'supernatural' on that crap. Any sort of power that cannot be used in the real world should be considered 'supernatural'

I'm not voting for anyone. Why? I'm too lazy to read any sory other than Prem's, and I only read his cuz I'm in it. So why not vote for him? Cuz he didn't take my advice and do the really cool idea I suggested that would have guaranteed his victory! Oh well. I guess it's better if he did it on his own, even if the story was kind of lame >_> bah, I'm voting for Aaryana_mom. The thought of her being a guy is horrifying.
:wigout:So, we all know the reason we are here... because we all love anime!! All of us have those anime shows that we like better than others, mine personally is Inuyasha or Fullmetal Alchemist. Of course, i'm a sucker for action;drama stuff. Lol... So to all you out there, what is your favorite anime? What kinds of genres do you look for when you search for new anime? In any animes you may have seen, do you like anyone from it specifically? Anyone you wish was real?
Lets see... 1. I'm trying to figure that out now by rewatching all my favorites. If I had to pick, though, it'd be Welcome to the NHK. 2. I've listed some here - namely psychological stuff, comedy stuff, and humble slice-of-life stuff. I'd now like to include that I like things which are over-the-top in an illogical way, and don't want you to answer all the questions. I'm watching wo of these shows now - Gankutsuou and Revolutionary Girl Utena, both of which incorporate insane or random things for the sake of entertainment without explanation. 3. I do. a LOT. 4. Anime characters are real. I, for one, am Lain, and thereby also Miyashita Touka
I'm also currently part of Shinigami Dance as well as the dual rpg I'm running with BKstyles, Project Starship. So obviously that makes me more picky about whether or not I'll join something even if it's something I do like. I doubt I'll join the Abyss when Darren puts it up even though it's something that interests me.
The abyss will never go up. I'm convinced. Prem, a good key is for your rp to have a general direction of what it's going to be like beforoe you post the sign-up. I remember a recent rp of yours where you gave the story but no indication as to what players would actually be doing or how the game would be played. Remember, the gameplay of an rp is more important than the story itself. For example, in Esper Jam I gave a rather thorough description of how the game would be played before starting it. In Shinigami Dance, the game actually began without a story. i only introduced the mechanics and no one knew how the story would develop until chaper two of the game itself. It's also a good idea to be reliable and have a good track record. Prem, your rps are known for dying early, and your posts in other rps are judged as well. Look at Esper jam and Shinigami dance - in both of them, you always do your own thing and don't group yourself with other players. Now, I've only ever been n one of your rps, and in that one, all of the other players had already met up and started being chased down and stuff, while your guy was busy with his own completely different agenda. People look at your old material to judge what they're going to do with you in the future. I was a major player in The Maze, and so people trusted me with the Panopticon, and I did a (relatively) good job on that, so people who saw that joined my newer rps. As SunfallE said, timing is really important. You don't want to start an rp when everyone who would participate is busy. A lot of the major role-players are currently involved in a lot of projects, so you want to wait for some of them to die out before you make yours. I actually puched Shinigami Dance back a lot from where it would have started beasue of Project Starship and stuff.

I've got all four. Disgaea is naturally the most fun because it can be as simplistic or as complicated as you want, and if you're into it, you can play it forevar. Makai Kingdom is just pure fun. It's got the most over-the-top attacks and a way better system than Phantom Brave stategically, IMO. Plus the story stuff is absolutely hilarious with a memorable cast of characters (Mickey! XD) Phantom Brave is the most complicated of the games, which can get annoying, becase it can be unforgiving, and the story is good but way more serious than the other games. I haven't gotten very far in La Pucelle, but what I've played was excellent. There's more to it than Disgaea, but not so much that it becomes a pain, and it's really fun once you get used to it.

Haruhi 2 starts winter season, yo. KyoAni is busy with CLANNAD for now. Probably so the other Haruhi DVDs can come out in America before season 2 starts, lol. I find it funny how many people are calling this a lame season before it starts, when a lot of things I've heard were 'I'll just watch whatever I hear is good.' Mostly cuz there's not much info on a lot of these shos yet, and quite a few are without source material. Should be intresting. Oh, and that Dragonaut show is GONZO BTW, and the vocal cast consists of basically the entire cast of Lucky Star and more stars (Aya Hirano - lead female, and Yuuko Goto is in there and stuff) which is enough to mobilize the whole anime community, lol.

Nicknames... how did you get them?
2010DigitalBoy replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
I'm going to follow Gavin's example and only talk about my newest nickname. That and I've never really got much in the way of nicknames or rather ones that were worth remembering. Anyway, my newest one is Rach. And I got that nickname here at OtakuBoards. Since there is another Darren here and that name stealer got it as a user name as well since they joined before I did. Though it's more fun to have something different than my real name so I don't really mind. lol In the end people started abbreviating Rachmaninoff to Rach and I even tend to sign my pm's with it as well since I've gotten use to it.
If we're going in terms of nicknames online, I've got a million. Mostly because not too many people want to type '2007DigitalBoy' (well actually, a shocking amount of people do). I always refer to myself as DB, which is also what Prem calls me, but some people use others. The comon ones are '2k7DB', '2007DB', 'Digital Boy (mostly because that's how I sign blog comments)' and things such as 'DigitalBrat'. My full username is 21st Century Digital Boy, but no one has ever refered to me as such XD. In the introduction to my current work, the Shotgun Dance, there is a sort of soliloquy signed 'Little Digital', a pun of of my name. -

Sorry you haven't seen much of me for about a week, and won't for about another week. My summer break is coming to an end and I'm anime cramming like never before. There's a slight chance I'll find a time slot to write in, but don't get your hopes up till around when school starts ^^;;(for me it's like the 3rd or 4th, not sure) -
nothing jumps out right away. Lets play wait and see. btw, you forgot the new Gundam series Gundam 00
Well, like I said, I only listed shows I'm interested in. I've never been much of a Gundam fan, but every gundam fan I know is clawing their eyes out over this crap, so I'm sure as hell not gunna watch it >_> I think this looks to be a good and otentially great season. Mokke, GHOST HOUND, Blue Drop, and Kodomo no Jikan are like guaranteed excellence, and the rest looks promising.
Pfft! Is not! [that and I'm undecided] Anyway... I'm assuming Starwind is kind of out of it at this point since he hasn't been on since the 6th. Also, are we allowed to introduce other Shinigami? NPC's to be exact. I don't plan on it but I was wondering.
Bah. I wouldn't advise it, but Prem already did. So I guess it's okay. Then again, Prem always seems to be in his own little world, so ut probably doesn't matter ^^;; As far as Starwind goes, if he's not here by '-------- 3' then he will be removed from the roster. BTW, like the new look. -
