Gaming Which consoles do you own? And which do you want to buy next?
2010DigitalBoy replied to Vigilance's topic in Noosphere
Nintendo 64 My first one. Brother an I got as a hand-me-down from older cousin who was a big-time gamer back in 97. First game bought was Tetrisphere. Last was Star Fox 64. most played was probably Diddy Kong Racing or Super Smash Bros. Game Boy Color Got for my 8th birthday, from same cousin. First games were Pokemon Red and Blue. Don't own very many for it, only the Pokemon RPGs and Pokemon Puzzle Challenge and some other crap. Mine was blue, my brother's was green. Nintendo Gamecube I refused to even think of buying the other consoles. Got it for Christmas '01. Between my brothers and I we probably have the most games for this console. Our first one was purple, but it melted down and we got a platinum one. First games were Pikmin and Super Smash Bros. Melee. Most played games would be Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, Phantasy Star Online, and Super Smash Bros. Melee. All 3 of us put PSO as our favorite. Game Boy Advanced Got for my birthday in '02 along with Golden Sun. Mine was arctic color, and my brothers ended up with a platinum one and a black one. Most played game was Golden Sun. I have a lot of favorties for this one. They can come with SP. Sega Genesis We saw it at a thrift store. Only own these really weird, hard to hook up cords. Have the original Sonic the Hedgehog and Mortal Kombat 2. PlayStation 2 The most problematic system. I personally have the most games for this. My brother had the first game, .hack//INFECTION (the whole reason we bought the console) and I got Final Fantasy X. Didn't play it much at all until I beat Sly Cooper and the Theivius Raccoonus, which got me into gaming as a whole afterward. Favorite game is either Disgaea Hour of Darkness, God of War, Devil May Cry, or Ratchet and Clank Going Commando. My most played is any of the Ratchet games. My brother's favorites are Makai Kingdom and Ratchet and Clank Up Your Arsenal. We have owned 4 PS2s. The first one (2003) died of mysterious causes, though we think it's because it was used too often to play DVDs. The second (2004) was stolen after only a few months owning it and right after i bought an assload of games for it. The third (2004) had something wrong with the laser. Finally (2005) we ended up with a slim one. Game Boy Advanced SP My personal favorite system of all time (2003). Easy to play anywhere, nice light-up screen, easy to carry and not even notice, plus chock full of great games. Most played was probably Fire Emblem, which was also the first with the new system. Mine was a limited edition NES style one, though it was pretty beat-up. I left it at a friends house who lived far away back in '04 and simply haven't seen him since then. (sucks, cuz this was days before my PS2 was jacked). My little brother also had a shiny blue one which was stolen. Favorite games are Fire Emblem, Zelda Minish Cap, and Metroid Fusion. XBOX Got for Chirstmas in '03. First games were Halo and Halo 2. Most played game is also Halo 2. Favorite games are Halo 2, Dead or Alive Ultimate, Halo, and Guilty Gear X2 #Reloadl. Only system we've never had problems with. Nintendo DS i don't have one. My brother got a platinum one in '05. He has a lot of games, but most are not particularly great. I don't like the console much because I find it unweildly and i get a headache when I try to play it, but there are a lot of great games on there which came out recently that have got me interested. If I actually bought/played games frequently, i'd get one for myself. His first game was Super Mario 64 DS. I actually own Metroid Prime Hunters, Guilty Gear Dust Strikers, and Castlevania 2nd Game, all of which he traded me at some point. His DS is now broken, as something happened to the top screen which destroyed it. NES A friend of mine gave it to me without the cords to hook it up, though I have managed to play the games he gave me sometimes. I have Super C, Super Mario Brothers 2, and Baiyou Billy XD Nintendo DS Lite My youngest brother has a black DS Lite. I don't think the Lite is too much a step-up from the regular DS - it's still a pain in the *** to wield. Still, it's a little better i suppose. If I were to get a DS, of course it would be a Lite. XBOX 360 Already proving itself to be my next favorite console, even though it has problems. We are already one our third (got the first late 2006), technically. The first one had unknown problems rather early, and the second one got the red-ring of death. We only got it back from Microsoft 4 days ago. Our first game was Dead Rising, and the favorite/most played is Phantasy Star Universe by my brother, though my favorite is Gears of War (also his). My only game is Final Fantasy XI which he recently traded me. My brother loves this console to death. Wii Got this one for Christmas '06 and haven't played it as much as we'd like. First games were Zelda Twilight Princess, Call of Duty 3, and Rampage total Destruction. Only games played all that much were Zelda and Sonic and the Secret Rings. I also have Wario Ware Inc. And that's them. My youngest bro wants a PSP for his birthday >_> -
A thread for it. So that you'll be watching from the beginning ^_~ Prepare to get your hopes up. BTW, I didn't post about ones I'm not interested in :o hokay! This is gunna be a big list and stuff. So get ready. Blue Drop: Tenchi-tachi no Gikyoku Summary: In 1995, all 800 habitants of the isolated Kamikakushi Island vanished in one night, all but a single girl who lost her memory. The cause of the disappearances was never identified. Four years later, that girl, Mari, transfers to a girl?s dormitory school, Kaihou Gakuen, leaving behind her grandmother who had been her guardian ever since the incident. There, she meets Hagino. Hagino is the school idol and completes her student council responsibilities flawlessly. The moment she touches Mari?s hand, however, Hagino freaks out, straddling atop Mari, hands around her throat. Mari is afraid of and angry at Hagino, who pretends as if nothing had happened while in front of other students, but at the same time, somehow, she is attracted to Hagino too. In reality, Hagino is actually an alien who was sent to Earth in order to reconnoitre prior to an invasion. The event on Kamikakushi Island occurred when the 200-member crew of a battleship, the Blue, whose captain was Hagino and the island?s inhabitants had killed each other. The Blue was seriously damaged and hidden. Hagino had since blended into human society and continued her reconnaissance. Within her school life, while fighting with fellow students, Mari begins to come out of her shell. Hagino has been living a double life, but her encounter with Mari makes her face human beings, and gradually she begins to have doubts about her mission. While the invasion and war draws closer unnoticed, the girls begin to understand each other. (animenfo) My Impression: If you know me even slightly, or have been reading my posts at all, you already know why I want to watch this. Yuri relationship stuff over the backdrop of sci-fi intensity and an interesting story to boot? That's unbeatable. The plot sounds more than cool, but more importantly, it's got character focus and yuri! What's not to love?! Mokke Summary: A fantastic story about two sisters. Shizuru is a high school student who can see monsters which ordinary people can?t, while her little sister, Mizuki, is easily haunted by these monsters. They are living with their grandfather?s home separately from their parents because of their abilities. The theme for each story is not horror-centric, but rather, of a heart-warming nature. My Impression: This looks to be a fun and heartwarming yet interesting series. Probaby next in line of Mushishi, Kino's journey, and all that good stuff. The whole one person sees them, one attracts them thing is used a lot, but I've never seen it as sisters. And since it's a slice-of-life story, it's sure to be an interesting watch. One to look forward to. GHOST HOUND Summary: No one knows! My Impression: I find it interesting that this series is known nothing about, and yet already being looked forward to the most by a lot of people. Of course, that's natural when you get Masamune Shirow doing anything. I was roped in by the fact that it's the director from Kino's Journey. If the very few images say anything, it's that this will be a freaking awesome series. ef - A Tale of Memories Summary - The story revolves around the protagonist Hirono Hiro, a poor high school boy who draws shoujo manga for his living. One cold Christmas night after meeting a very strange woman in a church, who tells him that he?s going to meet someone he has to meet, his bike gets stolen by another strange girl. He runs after her and finds her collapsed on the street. Her name is Miyamura Miyako and her bag got stolen by a man on a motorbike. Soon after, they start hanging out together, enjoying high-school life. Miyako falls for Hiro pretty quickly but naturally finds a rival in his childhood friend, Shindou Kei, who has been dictating Hiro?s life since ever. My Impression: Well, this summary doesn't sound particularly impressive to me, but some people I tend to agree with are lauding it, and I've heard great things about the game. If nothing else, it will definitely be worth glancing over. Kodomo no Jikan Summary: 23-year old school teacher Aoki Daisuke has a huge problem. One of his precocious 3rd Grade students, Kokonoe Rin, has the hots for him?! Yes, mischievous Rin has proclaimed herself to be Daisuke-sensei`s girlfriend and is now on a warpath to win him over or cause him to lose his job?whichever comes first! Besides Rin, Daisuke`s got other problems to take care of ? one of the students in his class, Mimi (one of Rin`s friends), hasn?t been attending school recently. - (Taken from AniDB) My Impression: I am uber looking forward to this! Not just bcause of my lolicon-ness either! I've heard so very many good things about the manga, there's no way I could miss out on the series. I was very disappointed when Seven Seas dropped the manga liscence, but they can kiss my *** while I laugh at them while I watch the subs. Bastards! Minami-ke Summary: Minami-ke is a manga following three sisters, Haruka, Kana, and Chiaki in their lives at home and school. It?s a funny series that depicts how these characters interact with each other and their classmates. It?s a story about ordinary girls and their ordinary adventures told in an extraordinary manner. - (Taken from AniDB) My Impression - Who doesn't love a good funny slice of life? I wonder if the show will live up to what this summary promises, but if it does it will undoubtably be worth a watch. CLANNAD Summary - Clannad follows a linear plot line, which offers pre-determined scenarios and courses of interaction, and focuses on the appeal of the five female main characters. According to Jun Maeda, the main scenario writer of Clannad, the title means ?family? or ?clan? in Irish. Clannad is set in a high-school located in some Japanese town. Okazaki Tomoya is a third-year student who doesn?t take his studies seriously. Always late for class, he?s seen as a delinquent by the rest of his classmates who are busy preparing for their entrance examinations. Needless to say, he hasn?t too many close friends either. Tomoya seems not to mind too - until one day he meets a girl, Furukawa Nagisa, who is left alone without friends on this school, because everybody she knew already graduated. My Impression: Oh, come on! Key and KyoAni, what more could you want?! Anyway, the plot sounds interesting enough, though if Kanon and Air are any indication, there will be plenty of surprises to be found. Sketchbook ~full color's~ Summary - Heroine: A very quiet high-school girl. Likes: Taking a walk, cats, sketchbooks, school?s Sui-mountain, relaxing at the art, picnic, neighbourhood cats on the way to school, strange surroundings, the art room during after-school hours, senpais that are just a bit strange, really odd creative works, rainbows, fireworks, sunsets, discovering tiny things that happens to anyone, any day, drawing quickly, quickly. Lots of laughs, just a bit of heartfelt emotion?? A faint smile, nostalgia slowly taking over. A high-school girl animation you?ve never seen before. My Impression: That summary gives me the image of a quirky, cute show, and as many are comparing it, similar to Hidamari Sketch. And since I ZOMG LOVE Hidamari Sketch, it should be worthy of a watch. I'm putting a high rank on this one. Genshiken Season 2 Summary: Based on a popular comic about the Japanese otaku lifestyle, this manga follows Sasahara Kanji as he dives face first into a world of anime, manga, video games, pornographic doujinshi, and the like. Kio Shimoku pokes fun at every element of the otaku world, so sit back and enjoy the ride. This is an anime for hardcore fans, with very complicated references that will test your knowledge of all things otaku. My Impression: Recently watched all of Genshiken and have been reading the manga - awesome series that even inspired the desing of my room. I can't wait to see more awesome hi-jinks of the Genshiken gang, especially if we get more Madarame! Ryofuko-chan Summary: The summary found on Wikipedia JP describes the story of Warrior Angels striving to receive the highest rank a Warrior Angel can receive?to be called Musou Tenshi (tl: Matchless Angel). The story focuses on a rori Warrior Angel Ryofu Housen, Ryofuko-chan. She needs to present seven gems from the battle arena to her Emperor, she also needs a good track record of taken heads from other warriors, say? ten thousand of them. With the assistance of another rori Warrior Angel, Chinkyou Koudai, the Emperor just might grant her that title. My Impression: Completely depends on how serious it takes itself. I mean, who could've seen Higurashi coming? So it could be really cool. Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro Summary: Yako?s father was murdered in a locked room. She then meets a man named Neuro Nougami who is a demon from Hell who eats ?riddles.? He forces Yako to act as a detective so he can solve mysteries. Neuro longs to eat the ultimate mystery. My Impression: It sounds like it will go the Detective Conan route. Will be interesting for a while, but after 50-60 episodes, you just wanna see the goals fulfilled. Could be interesting, but might be one of those you wanna wait for to get overseas release. Shion no Ou Summary: Yasuoka Shion lost her parents, and her voice, when she was young. In a murder. She was found amidst a blood-soaked room, and the only hint for the suspect was a Shougi board and one piece: the King. Now, Shion steps into the world of female professional Shougi players. As her popularity and fame slowly rises, so do the questions about her past, particularly the murder case that was never solved. My Impression: The art alone will have me watching the first episode, plus it sounds rather interesting. Bamboo Blade Summary: This sports manga is about a teacher, Kojirou, who is also the Kendo instructor at a high school who decided to take on a bet by his senior, as he is totally broke. The bet requires him to send a team of five female kendo students against his senior?s team. For the sake of his empty tummy, he has to win the match! This first volume starts off by having Kojirou trying to get more female kendo students (at the moment, there?s only one female kendo student at the kendo dojo). The first female he had set his eyes on, has absolutely no interest in joining the kendo club, despite displaying great kendo skill, while welding a broom. However, he won?t give up that easily. My Impression: Another one that I'm iffy about, but drawn in by the awesome character designs. It has potential if nothing else. Night Wizard Summary: The anime will talk about a transfer student named Ellis and her good friend Kureha who?s president of a run-down astronomy club. At first they seem to be getting along well, but something happens to Ellis one day on the school grounds. Kureha witnesses how Ellis? eyes turn blue while she starts chanting some mysterious words. Based on an RPG. My Impression: Well, seeing the man character and reading the summary made me think 'ignore' until I saw that it had the director of NHK ni Youkuso and a guy who worked on Aria. That kind of team alone means 'promising'. Shigofumi ~Stories of the last letter~ Summary: A story about a miracle, involving Fumika, a quiet but hard working girl who wears a uniform that of a mail carrier, and her talkative staff and partner Mayama. The Shigofumi is a posthumous letter, the last resort of relaying a deceased person?s last message to his/her loved ones: family, friends, and significant other. My Impression: Yes. Now. Plz. Shugo Chara Summary: Everybody at Seiyo Elementary thinks that stylish and super cool Hinamori Amu has it all: But nobody knows the real Amu, a shy girl who wishes she had the courage to truly be herself. Changing Amu?s life is going to take more than wishes and dreams?it?s going to take a little magic! One morning, Amu finds a surprise in her bed: three strange little eggs. Each egg contains a Guardian Character, an angel-like being who can give her the power to be someone new. With the help of her Guardian Characters, Amu is about to discover that her true self is even more amazing than she ever dreamed. My Impression: Worth a shot. After all that Hitohira and Manabi stuff, I'm looking forward to what could possibly be the next spiritual successor. And this one's got magical girls! If nothing else, the ain character looks adorable.

I've been catching lots of random episodes of this on th Funimation Network, and everything I've seen is pretty great. Much as I hate some of the voice actors, I love the humor and am an instant Akito fan. The songs Sana makes up are hilarious... or hilariously bad in many cases ^^;; In any case, it's fun to watch when it's on.
Score! :)
I'd be echoing that cry, but I'm not sure abou it. I think Angelic Days is pretty dumb, so this better be better....

A Discussion Elsewhere Another shoujo-ish NGE, but this time with action and swords. All I know so far is that the angels are now just pretty-boys with wings, and rather than mechs, they use weapons. And there will probably be a lot of gay moments with Shinji and Kaworu.

Ah, so this is what bullet hell looks like! I was only recently introduced to the genre when a friend of mine randomly bought some Xbox360 Japanese shooter game and within minutes I was like 'ZOMG I know this genre..." and so I started to play it, and it is not bad. Mostly fun on 2-player mode, though that's mostly because I get to play as a loli and beat the **** ou of my brothers XD I've never heard of this project, but things with good fanbases generally tend to be fun. I will look into it, captain!

Anime What are You Watching/Reading Now?
2010DigitalBoy replied to 2010DigitalBoy's topic in Otaku Central
Copied from m3h blowg. WARNING: If you?re cynical to the effect of anime on persons, you migt as well not read :p WARNING 2: SPOILERS FOR HITOHIRA AND MANABI STRAIGHT So? to start, a couple days ago my brother and I marathoned Manabi Straight. I was initially watching this show when t was first being subbed, but I lost track around episode 8 and simply never got back to it. Little did I know how much timing would effect my perception of the show. Anyone who?s watched both Manabi and Hitohira will immediatel draw parallels between the two. First of all, both are stories of a small group who wants to fight against all odds to keep their club alive. In a lot of ways, though, the stories are sort of opposite. In Manabi Straight, Mikan starts as the only member of the student council, but gradually she is surrounded by friends who help her push forward. In Hitohira, Mugi is dragged into an already existing tight group of friends for whom she must be the strong one. Still, both of them are a similar journey of a shy girl who needs the help of her strong friends to keep their time alive, even if they know it won?t last. In Hitohira, every odd is against the club, and you can pretty much tell right off that
there?s no chance in hell that they?re going to make it.
Similarly, in Manabi, the girls are fighting almost
for a lost cause because they know that their school fair will be he last one and that their school is dying anyway, but they still push on.
Both of these shows take an extra responsibility, though, in the end. These are no fairy tales, where the big event comes, everything is glamorous, and then the show ends. Nono, both of these shows feature the constant climb to the top of this mountain that is their utmost goal, and both also watch the characters as they climb down the other side - and at some points, tumble on their way down. Hitohira probably does the better job of exploring this part of the journey, if only because it took a couple more episodes after the big event. After this whole long journey - this battle to preserve that one moment, all the growth that comes along with it, the intense struggle? when you?ve reached the pinaccle of your journey, what happens next? That?s the million dollar question. In Hitohira, there is a lot of drama put into
Mugi?s last attempts to hold onto her time of happiness, and he wanting to stay with her senpai and the others who have to move on.
In Manabi, it?s more collective as we know that everyone will be
moving on together, and Mikan is relieved of her stress much easier.
I think Mikan is simply a bit stronger than Mugi, though both are admirable in their conquest in the end. The most important difference between the two, and the one that made me so happy to watch Manabi Straight later than Hitohira, is the ending. I don?t really know whether to call Hitohira?s ending a ?happy? or ?sad? ending. It?s simply a ?real? ending. At the end of Hitohira,
Mugi is somewhat optimistic, only promising herself that one day she?l cross that bridge into the outside word as well. But we don?t really know what happens. In the end, all we know is that she will one day have to move on, but whether she does so successfully or not is left up in the air.[/spoler] Meanwhile Manabi?s ending is much more
fulfilling. We see everyone move on. We see them happily in their futures, and we see Mikan come back for a visit, and we know exactly how it goes for them.
I can?t tell you how thankful I was for this ending, though the night after watching this show, I had a complete breakdown and was bawling my head off ^^;; Hitohira had left me questioning my own future. Being a child about to go into 11th grade, I have a lot of questions about my future, and I?m terrified to have to walk out into the world. Hitohira was like a reflection of my own feelings in Mugi. I?m just like her - timid and not ready for what?s ahead. So seeing Manabi Straight
bringing everyone into the future and showing that there really is a great time to be had, and that your life isn?t going to change to the point of destruction
was greatly appreciated. I don?t really want to talk about myself to much here, but I have to say, Manabi Straight gives me a lot of confidence in my future, and really was a moving experience for someone in a position like my own. It?s really a shame that I don?t appreciate my school life more, and that the people around me aren?t like the characters in anime, lol. If you haven?t seen either show, i think it?s best to watch Hitohira first. Hitohira is a more depressing series all around, whereas Manabi is constantly uplifting. If your like me, you?ll definitely appreciate the experience. -

Nicknames... how did you get them?
2010DigitalBoy replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
I only recently started getting cool nicknames, and mostly cuz I begged my friends to give them to me, lol. I call every last one of my friends by something other than their names, though, ad a million names at that. My brother's friend 'Brandon' is a great example of this. The first of many nicknames is one my bro and I both use, 'Brando'. This comes from my brother's internet name which takes the last letter off of his name. his is 'Victo' so we dubbed the other 'Brando.' We never use Victo in real life though. Brando's next nickname is 'Pablo'. Brandon is half Morroccan, so we used to always make jokes about how he looked like a terrorist until he got his hair cut short. We them decided that he looked Mexican and stated calling him 'Pablo'. He often uses this name on online things. The biggest one is my friend 'Joshua'. At first, it was simply Josh, as anyone would go by. Sometimes he also liked to go by J. Well, a long time ago one of his girlfriends stated calling him JJ and so I started calling him that, too. Now, most of the reason we became friends in the first place was because I introduced him to Tenacious D and we would sit in the back of our Japanese class and sing D songs. I don't know if you've ever listened to the D, but they call each other by a million different nicknames. Kyle Gass is known as KG, Kage, Rage, Rage Kage, and Jack Black goes by JB and Jabels as well. So, once I stared calling him JJ, is naturally came to be that I started calling him 'Jage'. This is the name I adress him by the most. In reply, he took my initials 'CC' and started calling my 'Cakels'. Yes, we are dorks. I also call him 'J to the J' Or 'J to the J to the Joshua (last name)'. I also sometimes adress him by his full name, or simply his last name since it's easy to say. Honestly, if someone listened to us talk, they'd think there were like 8 people in the room XD. -
Hado Gei!!! I love that guy! You can't beat the hump walk -- so many pelvic thrusts!!! Ah, it's been quite a while since I've sen someone bring him up, but there's no denying he is an awesome, sexy man.

Gaming Has anyone heard of "Phantasy Star" ?
2010DigitalBoy replied to Tetra of sound's topic in Noosphere
I think the people who played the original PS games simply grew tired of trying to state their case and decided to keep the pleasure of playing them to themselves, lol. Well, I'm a HUGE PSO fan, and my brothers are both even bigger than me, heh. It's my personal most played game of all time. Phantasy Star Universe is also an excellent game. My brother, in ultimate PSO fandom, decided to try going after the old games and got Phantasy Star Collection for the GBA (contains the first 3). Becasue it's an old RPG, it suffers from the wear of a few console generations, and people like me who started gaming on the N64 have a hard time appreciating it, so we mostly keep it for the purpose of collecting, lol. My brother still wants to get his hands on 4. I wouldn't be surprised if we sw a DS adaption sometime... -
Hmm lets see I'm proud of the fact that I have watched 40 episodes of anime straight without moving on 2 different occasions within a 3 day period I'm proud of the fact that I have played a console rpg for 19 hours straight on the third straight day of my not sleeping streak
You are a golden god, and an inspiration to us all. prepare yourself. 1.) Long or short I have always loved having long hair, and it has never been easy. Honsetly, there are pretty much 0 good points to having long hair, but I would absolutely rather die than have short hair at this point. I've had my hair cut plenty of times in the past, though rarely without letting it grow really long first. Until I grew a moustache, I was constantly mistaken for a girl all my life. I've been teased relentlessly for it, and even now there are plenty of people who have a problem with it. It's always being questioned. 'Why? How long? Do you wash it? how often do you brush it?' (cuz it used to be very poorly maintained >_>) i honestly have no good reason for having it. It's hot, it gets itchy, it's frizzy and the damn jew curls are hard to maintain. It's a pain to brush, blablabla... I still love it though. It's just... me. Over the past 6 months or so I've come to really apprecate my long hair. That's because last winter break, in a period of immense apathy, I went a while without showering or brushing my hair and it became a hideous beast that had to get chopped off (in one cut!) and so since then, as it's regained it's legth (my hair grows extraordinarily fast) I've taken way better care of it. 2.) Color Naturally, it's dark brown. 3.) Have you dyed it? When I was like 10 there was this concert I wanted to have spiked blue hair for. I cut my hair short and bleached it blonde so that I could blue it for that day. Looked bad *** for the concert - I got a lot of compliments. I got a lot of Aaron Carter jokes for it afterward, but it changed back soon enough. 4.) If you have dyed it, what colors has it been? Blonde. Well, last year, I wanted it to have blue streaks going through it. My mom dyed the streaks into my hair but they wouldn't show up since my hair is too dark. My hair bled blue in the shower for a month... 5.) What length do you prefer on the opposite sex? This is an exremely, extremely complicated question. Honestly, I could write an entire essay on my favorite hair types. I can't really pick a certain length as my absolute favorite, since there's so many conditions that alter the situation... likee I said, it's really complicated. I guess if I had to pick an absolute favorite, it would be shoulder-length hair with hairclips to keep them out of her face. But only if it's on the right girl... *doesn't want to get into it*
I am about to watch petite Cosette tonight! I am psyched!
I decided to mimic you. Now... I was pretty sure I hadn't done any acid since last night, but now I'm starting to wonder. Either I am trippin balls or I just watched the first episode of petite cossette. Either way, I want some more! Ah, Shinbo, you never let me down, and neer cease to amaze me. And seeing as how this show is so short, it shouldn't be hard to collect either. I know Geneon's releasing it, but I don't know how much is out... -
Lulz, sounds like an excuse to flash most of my favorites list. 1. Hidamari Sketch (tale of 4 girls in art school. You haven't seen it, and therefor you dissappoint me!) 2. Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei (pschological illnesses are not super powers!) 3. Genshiken (Otaku Tales!) 4. Gunslinger Girl (Although she has a mechanical body, she is still a young girl.) 5. Kino's Journey (Her gunslinging is superb, but it's all skill baby) 6. Haibane Renmei (slice of Haibane life) 7. Serial Experiments Lain (super technology but no magic involed)

Anime The anime con that almost wasn't

I can't decide which is more shocking, that you were in that situation, or that I actually broke my eyes attempting to read that affront to grammar. Well, I'm not sure whhat you're really looking for. I guess it would be an oportunity to share negative con experiences, but I myself have never been to a con. I've never heard any stories as wild as yours either. I do know of one incident where a guy fell on his hand and it swole to the size of an orange and he still pressed on to buy more doujins. Eventually he got bumped into and fell uncoscious, and they wheeled him off on a stretcher. -

Vampire Hunter D was a novel before it was an anime - in fact, the first novel was written in, like, the late eithies. Currently there are 17 or 18 novels I believe... all are pretty long too >_> As for the .hack novels... well, I've got the 2 A.I. Buster volumes. It's basically the same frikkin story seen over and over in everything else .hack, which was annoying, though not terrible. The second book was pretty pointless. I only have the first of the Another Birth volumes, not only because I've only played the first game (and am not far) but because I hate the writing style. If you don't know the game itself, it's hard to know what's going on... -
I could see it in the way it was paced. I should probably elaborate...The way the show reveals things to you. It is very similar to boogipop...at least to me it was. I dunno maybe I just think everything that is difficult to understand is the same. Whatever. Not a misconception just a difference in opinion. I still think Miyazaki movies are good but not as good as some people claim they are. I never read any of the novels. All I know is that the movies were both good.
lulz, don't worry, I'm acually on your side about the Miyazaki films. I lke them, but none are a favorite. Perfect Blue was confusing in an illogical way - it was trippy just for the sake of being trippy, and that's what I hate about it. Boogiepop does everything in a way relating to the plot, and really isn't confusing at all - I can never undersand why people say it is. Probably just the vignette style... The first D movie is based on the first book, Bloodlust is based on the third. The first one was fine enough (I have a review of it on theO i you'd like to check it out) but te second was unbarable. I'd easily rank it the stupidest trash I've ever read. -
Perfect Blue Well to start I didn't like this anime very much. I mean it was OK but wasn't worth all the hype it got. Now for someone who really like this sorta thing it would be amazing for them. I speak of course of the hardcore drama/suspense fan. This would make them pee themselves in glee. I could see how boogipop was influenced by this film which was neat.
I fail even remotely to see how boogiepop was influenced by that movie. You say it like all suspenseful horror is influenced by Perfect Blue or some crap... Boogiepop was the sequel to the novel Boogiepop and Others, and a prequel to the second/third book. If it was influenced b anything, it would be the novels. Guess I should expect misconceptions, though from someone who thinks Miyazaki is overrated :p Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust was a pretty sweet movie though. The world of D is so massive and full of so many creatures, which is cool. I might still be reading it if the second novel weren't so inccreadibly godawful that I couldn't stomach it. -
Oi. Do we really need te dead baby jokes? They're rather disgusting - I know I personally do not wish to be subject to them >_>. If they continue, I might have to crack out the pedophilia jokes and light this thread on fire.
Don't worry, Axe smells pretty disgusting. You're better off with a bar of soap.
For every person who absolutely hates the scent, theres someone who absolutely loves it. I remember once etting a 'oh! you smell like axe!' and I asked f that was good, and they said yes. I know my mom likes the smell sinc my dad says that's the only reason he wears it... i hate it >_>
Yeah, we notice it then, but it's not like we hug you with the intention of sniffing up your bodily fragrances (or odors, as the case may be). If you're smelling particularly nice, we're going to notice. But we don't really pay much attention if you just smell like a clean person.
My hair has been very intently sniffed before, and there have been mutiple occasions in which a girl smelled my hair, told the other surrounding girls to smell my hair, and thereby subjected me to a round of hair-sniffing >_>
