I have an extremely short attention span. Often times when I try to start writing creative works, I can't keep concentrated long enough to get a story going. I've tried several measures to counter this. My first method was to try and plot the story ahead of writing it. Know what the next few pages will be about before writing them. This has never worked, either because I get lost in an idea, or it no longer appeals to me and I'm not sure how to retweak it, or I might not know how to put what I'm thinking onto paper. All of my best writing I have done without thinking, but then I will eventually loose interest. The second method was to try and switch point of views a lot or two write in a vignette style, but forcing myself to work in that format obstructs the writing process itself. Even though I have some ideas that I really like, I can hardly ever get them written, or often I will and then look back and hate it. I very rarely make it past the first page of writing in a project or the first chapter or train of thought. I want to know your methods on keeping concentrated with writing. Much as I enjoy participating in role-plays and writing poetry, I'd really like to create a longer work some time.

XBox: Guilty Gear X2# RELOAD. My brother and I marathoned Genshiken yeterday, and with all the clis of the game being played, we started playing it like crazy. We were looking at all the characters' supermoves just a minute ago. PS2: I'm playing Shin Megami Tensei Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha Versus the Soulless Army. It's a pretty great game as far as mechanics go, but has a lot of annoying backtracking... I haven't really picked up in th story yet, either. My brother is playing Steambot Chronicles and becoming quickly addicted.

I like this idea. Saving time! I'm listening to the album El Cielo by Dredg. I've listened to it countless times over the past two or three days since I just bought it earlier this week. So far I'm enjoyin it a lot, though I think a couple of the songs sound to much alike. It's weird getting used to a lengthier CD gain since the first album is so short. My favorite songs as of now are Same Ol' Road, Scissor Lock, Of The Room, and Canyon Behind Her. Currently I'm on the first track, Same Ol' Road. It's the one I've heard the most, since it has a music video which I was listening to a lot before I bought the CD. And since it's first on the album, no mater how early I have to turn it off, I always hear it. I fear I will get sick of it quick XD.

Advice Request - School Future

Oi. It's been quite a while since I've come to the members of OB for help, but I figure you're the best source for a problem like this. Okay. Last year I signed up to take a special course where each day I would take two regular classes and then be bussed to a college where I will take a specialty class. I signed up for A+ computer repair cuz I thought it looked interesting, and I ended up getting accepted. I didn't really may much attention to the specifics or anything. Near the last week of school, I remembered that I was supposed to show the acceptance letter to my guidance counselor, and that day I was going to the cafeteria to pick up my summer assignment for Advanced English 11, so I decided to head to the guidance counselors office afterward. She told me that if I wanted to make 'advanced track' I would have to take summer school next year for one of my classes. This is because to go to the college I will only have 4 open class blocks, and one of them has to be Japanese 3 for me to make advanced, so one of the core classes would be pushed to next summer. Unfortuanetally, when she kept saying 'advanced track' I thought she was talking about my English class, so I gave the OK for that schedule, only realising later what she'd meant. School ended before I got around to correcting that. I didn't give it too much thought. Earlier, I believe in June, I had started to accpet the idea of having a lot more stuff to have to do next year. I thought maybe since I hadn't really done much this summer, it wouldn't have much of an effect to loose some of next summer. Plus I was thinking about how maybe it was time for me to grow up and start achieving, and how I might get into a good college or something and start my way up to being responsible. Fast forward a month and a half later. I had given it absolutely no thought since then, instead enjoying my summer to the fullest (gotta say, best summer in years), and consiously ignoring my summer homework. (there's no way to last-minute it either, since I was supposed to email the teacher every 2 weeks with stuff and I haven't even started reading either of the books yet :animeswea). Then my dad came home with the mail and was saying how he'd gotten a letter from that college place about how their students had to wear dress shirts and crap. After spending so much time without thinking about it, I'd basically forgotten all about that responsibility I'd talked about. And now, all I have is fear for this next year. Now, if I don't feel I'm ready for the whole summer-school thing, I don't think it'd be hard for me to get rid of, especially since I almost failed Japanese one and two, and it's a mistake in the system that I keep getting put through. But at the same time, I have no idea what the right choice to make is. Will I be missing an opportunity if I dump my advanced track? Will I regret not having had the college experience in high school? But more importantly, am I ready for any of that stuff? I mean, last year I slacked off as much as humanly possible the entire year. I didn't do but a tiny ounce of homework the whole year. I was only .5 points away from failing one of my classes. I slept in at least one or two classes every single day, or talked through them. There were actually a couple times when I went a whole week or two and in most classes simply didn't do any work. I got by on luck and being able to half-*** my way through just cuz I'm smart. Hell! I didn't even do my freaking summer assignment! What does that tell you?! I can't think that I'm ready for all of this, but at the same time, is it worth it to skimp out and spend another year wasting my time in school thinking about how much I hate being there and ignoring everything? Shouldn't I at least try to grow up? I'll have to some day, right? I can't just keep counting on everything to work out for me, right?! ARGH! On the one hand, I don't want to sit around and do nothing or fail and live a **** life wit no opportunities, or end up doing a job I hate like my dad, or miss an opportunity to work my way up. But on the other hand I don't want to spend my youth trying to look to the future knowing it all comes to **** in the end. I don't want to not enjoy myself and regret that either, and I most certainly don't want to put on a ****ing dress shirt every day and go do some hard-*** work that may never pay off! Then again, in the first place, I signed up for that class out of general interest, but it must've been more of a fad. I couldn't care less about it at this point....... not that I can change what college course I'd be able to take at this point. What say you? Am I at the age already where I need to work for my future, or do I still get to be a kid a while longer?

I think this newspaper should be held bi-weekly, and here's why. Point 1: This newspaper is awesome. It deserves to be seen more often. Point 2: A newspaper has to be up on current events. As it stands, by the time most of these articles get published, the topic is either dying or dead and buried. At that point, the newspaper is really only playing the same role as Otakupedia in telling events that have already passed. As a matter of fact, for the first two weeks or so of the month, Konata, our member of the month was posting like crazy. I haven't seen any posts from her in almost 2 weeks now, though. (the same thing happened with Affection... I think I'm spreading a curse around :animeswea) Point 3: More people will pay attention if the thread is more active. More attention means more submissions and the activity will really get rolling. As of yet, I think the newspaper is underappreciated in all it's glory. I will single-handedly produce enough articles to print in two weeks if necessary. I'm really interested in seeing this thing more often, cuz both volume one and two are great and deserve far more attention.
There's only one game that is getting all of my anticipation these days. I'm completely sure that it'll be a quality title, and its official name hasn't even been announced yet. Do the names ICO and Shadow of the Colossus ring a bell? If not, that just won't do, so let me expand a little. These are two brilliantly concocted games by Fumito Ueda, an interesting director who prioritizes emotional reality over photorealistic appearances. In fact, the label "video game" doesn't do these titles enough justice. They're much more than that - atmospheric, artistic masterpieces that evoke an emotional connection from the player while tugging them along a rough path of an intricate storyline riddled with subtle complexities. These games boast not only cohesive elements, but also revolutionary mechanics that make for a gripping and unforgettable experience. It's just these games have such high production value... I can not imagine Ueda tainting the the next game with mediocrity. All we know is that it's headed for the Playstation 3 at some point, and when that day comes I will buy the console (even if there are so many other factors undermining my respect for Sony's new system) solely for the incoming gem.
Thing is, though, those games are pretty darn short. I don't think I'd go out and buy a 500 dollar console and pay 60 dollars for a game that's only gunna last 6 hours. I'm sure they'll add some time on their next-gen games, but still... I'm not worried, though, because the PS3 has had so few exclusives - almost everything ends up with a 360 version, so if that happens, I'll go for that. Definitelly one to look forward, since SotC was one of the most amazing games I've ever played. Also, Clurr, I'm petty sure SC4 is a Wii exclusive.
Raven, did you catch Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (also known as When They Cry)? It might be up your alley with its psychotic atmosphere and tasteful gore. The animation is potentially difficult to take seriously, though.. So I can't guarantee sleepless nights. :p
I agree about the artstyle in character design - the girls have the most mishappen, hideous heads I've ever seen. However, the atmosphere serves to be really creepy in that they make brilliantly dark images. I've only seen the first episode, though, and I''ve heard there are certain scenes to make you squeal. I've been considering buying this on DVD. It deserves to be noted as well that there is a second season currently airing in Japan, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai. Also, if you haven't seen Boogiepop Phantom, it has that sort of atmosphere and is wonderful.

I don't know anything about this stuff, but I'll say that I really like Digital Evolution. I agree that all three of them seem a tad messy like you were trying to fit as much as you could into every part of the picture and ended up drawing like random scribbles in some places, but I kind of like how it's done with Digital Evolution. Though I am confused why something called Digital Evolution is depicted with plants, lol.
I think the customary lack of pants might be a factor in that one. Or at least the impression of pantslessness.
I've always thought of it that the extra length of the shirt is sort of like the pants, but a kind of pants that can be easily entered and an outfit that can be removed in a single swipe. Or, if it's a shirt too big even for you, you could probably both fit in there. The pantslessness isn't the only benefit, though. Having a tiny girl in a big shirt is just... :animenose it's like the epitome of moe. Also, this is just my opinion, but I think the male clothes thing only works as well with long-haired girls. The shorter hair looses some of the effect. Also, the more the girl is blushing about being in your shirt, the better. Another great thing about the big short is that it works for all breast sizes. Though that's still on a more slight frame - I think the taller the girl is, the less appealing the big shirt thing is. The whole point is the cuteness, and taller girls turn it more sexy. Not to say that's all bad, but it's a whole different fetish. Another thing is that the shirt thing is great because different shirts can be used in different situations. For instance, if you're looking to snuggle up, a really really big shirt would be best, and if it's winer time, a big hoodie is ideal. If you're going for a sexual encounter, it'd be more fun to have a shirt that goes just a few inches past the panties for that more tantalizing effect. Also, accessories can play a major role in the look. The great thing about this is that the look is rather basic and allows for a lot of options. Glasses, cat ears/tails, long socks or stockings, all look great. Also, if you're into bondage you can tie the ropes right over the shirt. It's form-fitting while being roomy enough to get around... :D I think anyone can guess what one of my biggest fetishes is XD

At the moment that a person dies, a shinigami comes to guide their soul to heaven. There are many shinigami in existence who take the souls of those to whom they are assigned. Shinigami resemble humans, but they have powers that humans do not possess. Firstly, they do not physically connect to the human world. They simply ghost through all physical things. That is, unless they take the form of a human and insert themselves in human society. Shinigami can float about and teleport themselves. It is also not uncommon for shinigami to travel with a familiar that shares these traits. All shinigami carry a black scythe which they use to take a person's soul from their body. Shinigami don't always deal with death, though. They are free to do whatever they please in interacting with the human world. Whether it involves resolving a restless soul, walking someone through a near-death experience, or simply mingling with human relations - shinigami are what they please to be. That said, the Shinigami's interactions with the human world can have anywhere from a monumentally minor to extraordinarily large effect. VOLUME TWO: Vampire Factions Whereas regular humans give off an obvious aura when they near death, a vampire never has to worry about sending of this aura. Because of this, a vampire is easily confused as a normal human, and there is no real way to realize their existence without being right next to them and having the sense that they have cheated death. For those who are unfamiliar with vampires, they create other vampires by drinking the blood of a virgin from the opposite sex. Anyone who isn't a virgin or is the same sex will merely become a ghoul. Hundreds of years ago, vampires became a major problem as they ravaged the lands, but humanity retaliated and eradicated the species thoroughly. Unfortunately, the smarter vampires managed to elude the eyes of both humans who wanted them dead and shinigami who would release their souls. Thus, the vampires continued to bide their time and quietly live on in secrecy. In modern society, vampirism is thought of stylistically, and regular humans even try to emulate the lifestyle. Using this as a cover, some vampires re-emerged into human society; some to live amongst them peacefully, and others to destroy them from the inside. With the sudden growth in vampire population, there is room for division amongst themselves, and certain groups of vampires have their own ideals for the world. The hundreds of years keeping secret was forgotten by the newer vampires, and some young up-and-comers sought to do things their own way. The Count: The Count is a powerful vampire immortalized in a recent decade. He is known to have the largest following; said to range between 30-40 followers whom he has turned into vampires or had turn others into vampires. It is said that his servants are all children within the ages of 9 and 12. The Count wishes to take over the world by eradicating the Shinigami so that he cannot be stopped and then conquer the planet. While he uses his servants to help, he takes a hands-on approach to most of what he does. Seras Valkyrie: The Seras Valkyrie is an organization that has rooted itself inside a corporate conglomerate. Because of this, it holds immense power globally. The organization is said to be run by a vampiress who is both cunning and evil. While under the guise of merely being a massive corporation, it also runs gangs and crime syndicates all over the world. It is unknown how many, but vampires have been found to be present within these gangs. The Seras Valkyrie's dark agenda is unknown, but it is undeniable that they would take interest in the actions of the Count. Rogues: Vampires or groups of vampires who act out of their own intentions. This is the position most vampires are in, and most are harmless, though the ones who are dangerous often take jobs from the major vampiric factions acting as mercenaries or whatever they can do. The Hidden: For hundreds of years, vampires remained hidden from humanity as their only means of survival. Although many vampires have gone out to integrate themselves with society and fulfill their own purposes, there are still many who uphold the traditions of remaining hidden. Old Main Thread Banner

I'll use an example of what Fandom kept doing in Prem's rp he had a while ago... Every time we tried to form the plot, he had to go and change it to follow whatever he wanted so whatever we did was meaningless. For example, I might have set the stage for what our characters were going to do and then started in that direction, but then he totally destroys that plan and sends the characters off doing something else. Plot theft is when someone rather than adding to the going story or twisting it in a way that makes sense, finds some way to change plans before they are ever initiated fully. It's like when you have 6 people tied up and five start running one way, only for the sixth to turn and pull them all down, telling them to go in a different direction. >_>
-
That's a damn awesome plot point there! I like you're style, and you're very smart >_> I would have never figured that out XD Anywho, I agree, no plot theft. Don't be a _Fandom - it's everyone's rp.
IV is seriously Coheed's worst album, but then again, if you can actually stand/like "The Suffering," I guess you'll love it. Every album of theirs since has been a major disappointment.
I agree that IV is their worst album cuz it's to damn poppy. It simultaneously is their most concentrated and yet most sell-out release. The Second Stage Turbine Blade is probably among my top 5 albums of all time, and I can say good things about In Keeping Secrets as well. IKSOSE: 3 is mostly good, there's only 2 or 3 tracks that I can't stand... IV isn't necessarily a bad album, ti's just that too much of it sounds the same and some of it is simply uninteresting. There are maybe 5 songs that I think are geat, and the rest is total meh. They just released a new song on their myspace that is pretty good, but it seems like the new release might be a lot like IV. The song is sort of the style of Ten Speed. As for Agalloch, don't expect to find them. At all. Halo 3, of course. Halo 2 is probably my favorite game of all time, and it is a franchise I love to death, so more can only be better. I only have to say that they better NERF the effing Spartan Gun. I hate that things SOOO much..... Other than that, Assassin's Creed and BioShock both look cool, but I'm betting on my brother buying them. I'm not much for buying video games...

Your most outrageous purchases.

I'ce never before had the kind of money to spend that some of you talk about XD I had 300 bucks to blow for my birthday, so I decided I had enough to buy something totally unnecessary but worthy of my collection - something that would serve as a status-symbol for my otaku-ness. So I bought this Lain artbook - hardback version - for 40 bucks. Mind you, to me, 40 bucks is a LOT. I am very tactical with my money, so spending 40 bucks on something like that was a rush like I've never gotten XD My brother was in awe, and he took away one of my 'jew cards.' I'm glad I did buy it, though. Yoshitoshi Abe is an amazing artist, and Lain is one of my favorite anime. Plus it finally explained episode 5 for me... -

Like Earth must have looked before the development of technology. All around was endless grass and ripe trees. It wasn't a jungle - more like a valley but with some of the oddest plant life I'd ever seen. There were animals, but not nearly in the abundance that our planet would have had. Perhaps they were in the earlier stages of evolution. I could have thought that this planet was earth, only that there was no wind nor humidity, and the clouds were blood red that billowed above in clusters. Finding other people amongst a planet full of plants wouldn't be too hard, right? Though this was an entire planet we were talking about, and a handful of people would be well dispersed. I'd have doubts if we'd find anyone in the span of just a week or so, even with our powers. I don't know how Jake meant that we would be able to protect them from simply being sucked back into the cloud before we left again, but I guess he would know what he's talking about. "If the others know that we are here looking for them, they will probably try to make themselves more obvious... if we can't find them, there's a good change they could still find us. This planet is twice the size of earth, so it can't possibly be easy, but it's damn well worth any shot we have..." We split into four groups of five... My mum just got a new iPod shuffle (and like her old iPod mini/cro which I fried, I'm the only one using it XD). It's a pretty strange device in that you're basically screwed unless you, y'know, shuffle, so I just loaded some crap on there and I listen to it when I'm in the room with someone who's gaming (because otherwise I force their volume down in favor of my music) iPod's are fun and all, but god do they get on people's nerves XD

I was in denial about Santa Claus for a long time. I ****ing hated people who didn't believe in him. Up until like 5th grade I would argue with people, begging that he exists.I assured myself that he exists even until I was about 12. Even now, I want to believe that an old fat guy once went around giving things to children. I probably knew he didn't exist. I thought it was probably just my parents. In fact, I remember on my 13th christmas when my parents, knowing that neither me nor my brothers really cared about wrapping, just had everything in a huge plastic bag and dished it out XD Honestly, I hate wrapping papper... so pointless. My little brother was just like me. All growing up, he fought for santa as well. I think it was my youngest brother was the one who really ended it for me. Unlike my romantic self, he's a total realist. He was like 6 when he said "duh! Of course santa's not real!" to my parents when asked. I knew it was my parents who put the presents under the tree, but that line is what really put the fat man behind. As for aliens... well, it's just completely ignorant to not know that they exist. I mean come on, how small-minded can you possibly be? As for special people on earth, I believe. I even think I'm one of them. I've always kind of been that way, but I think Haruhi helped instill a lot more of that belief in me. After watching it, I decided that I was god, and I've kept to that belief. I hold myself as the center of the universe, and that when I die, the entire universe will cease to exist. I belive that with all my might. That's the only real thing there IS to believe. Oh, as for religion, I never cared about it. I never went to church, my mom's a complete nihilist - she believes in nothing whatsoever. My dad became really spiritual about 4 years ago and still is, which has effected me in a lot of ways. for a little time I started to pick up on that attitude, but then I picked up on my own thoughts and come to what I consider the ultimate conclusion.
