Cuba has three types of medical care, one for the military and government, one for foreigners and one for the general population. Guess which ones have all the equipment and fancy doctors? Do you remember where Fidel Castro got his important surgery? He went to Spain. Why? Because Cuba botched his surgery and he had to get it done properly. The hospital Michael Moore took them to was the one for foreigners! He is a lying fake filmmaker! I fell for his trick too, i almost wanted to believe that for once Michael Moore had a decent thing going. Americas healthcare system does need work, but now all the government has to to do is say he is being deceptive and they're right. He is just making it harder for people to fix the problem. As for links on what im talking about i rummaged up one, i got my info on cuba from books but here is one that talks about this specific incident. If you just google Cubas healthcare system i am sure you could come up with more. The Real Sicko is Michael Moore
If the effing Cubans can give foreigners better health care than America, then duh, that's still a good point. Hero! Ai amu heeya too teru yoo abauto Moetan! For those who have never heard of Moe-tan, it is a series of books created to tech Engrish to the otaku of Japan. It follows the adventures of magical girl Ink-chan who is trying to help Neo-kun learn english. For each word or phrase in English, it gives an example that references some anime. Naturally, these phrases are horrible. Including... Weapon: "My ultimate weapon is the China cannon attached to my groin." This Pokemon reference that seems to have pig and mouse confused... Punish: "Every time the hero wins, the trio is punished by the pig like creature." And my personal favorite... Bet: "When I fell in love with the her, I thought that the girl was my stepsister. I bet if I had known she was my real sister, I would not have fallen in love with her." So why am I posting about this now? They made an anime about it! Meet Ink-chan. Even though she looks about 6, she is in high school (so of course her friends make fun of her. There's another in her class with the ailment, though). Ink-chan has a major crush on a boy in her class named Nao-kun, but she's a short crybaby, and he's a otaku and kind of mean. Well, Ink-chan has this master plan that she and he are going to go to the same university and fall in love and graduate and get married. Unfortuanetally, due to his English grades, Nao-kun may not be able to go to college (though he doesn't care all that much.) Meanwhile in some other dimension, we see a powerful mage escaping trial and death and running away, only to be subject to some kind of test by a king in the clouds. The king says he will have to face a trial and the mage is sucked into a wormhole. Ink-chan looks up to see a duck falling from the sky. Yep, it's the mage guy. She takes him back home and the duck announces that he wants her to become a magical girl and help people. At first she will be a weaker magical girl, but she will become strong. When Ink-chan realizes she can use this to help Nao-kun, she accepts the offer and becomes... Magical Teacher Ink-chan! Anywho, the rest i will not spoil. As for my first impressions, this show is rediculous and adorable. It's not really funny enough yet to be a comedy show, but it's cutesy enough to not be boring. I can see it getting more comical as it progresses. i just want to see what kind of horrible English phrases they produce throughout. If you're the type who shys away from loli fanservice (AKA you have a stick up your *** >_>) then you will not like this show. It pretty much sexualises this little girl. But if you can ignore that and just watch the show, you might find something you like. Especially if you like Magical Girl shows.

Meh. In my city, there's so many people who either are or think they are bisexual it's hard to take yourself seriously if you question your sexuality. My community actually made me feel I must be straight simply because I feel like I can't be bisexual without being a douche. Meh, fake gay kids are annoying. The day one of these guys actually asks me out, I'l believe them XD Some people are so rediculous, though. My best friend said that he once knew a girl who claimed to 'only date bisexual or gay guys'. He told me how he'd thought he'd 'go gay for her' REALITY CHECK, PEOPLE!
Well it's not that I mind posting... But it's more of my OCD-ish nature that won't let me... ask Hells. He knows. That would bug the crap out of me to see something go from 7:45 to midnight, and then back to 8 or 9 o' clock... I would have to die. (no joke) So it's not that it's confusing, but I have never been able to immerse myself in a story of any kind (book, RPG, whatever) that didn't have continutiy or switched character perspectives a lot. But, since I assume DB is taking a much needed rest, (and I hope he is for health's sake) I'll wait for Fyxe to post, then I'll post with Chloe... And since I'm going to leave it open-ended, (Yes, I already know exactly what I'm going to write; I just haven't done it yet) I'll let Hells finish off the day for both of our characters. Then DB will get to have fun with his next chapter starting on Day 2...
As someone with an extreme case of OCD I have this to say: you're weird XD Damn it man, ignore the stupid time thing. A lot of people want to strangle you right now >_> This is an RPG about maniacally strange occurances - if you don't like it when things suddenly change, you may be in for some discomfort...

Like most, I didn't know that DBZ and Pokemon and such were anime when I first saw them. The first anime I ever saw unedited and with knowlege of what it was would be Ninja Scroll. My cousin, who was like 19, showed it to me and my other cousin, who was like 14, and we both thought it was like the coolest thing in existence. Somewhere around that time, [AS] came into existence and I saw it on it's second night with said 14-year old cousin (I was like 10 BTW) and we both loved it. My cousin then started buying anime magazines and that's when things first started. I had moved away about 6 months, but then whenI moved back, my cousin and I first really got into anime. Back then I didn't have a DVD player yet, nor did he, so our first 4 movies were on VHS. They were Ninja Scroll, Blood the Last Vampire, Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust, and X. My cousin then got a DVD player and Char's Counterattack, and thus our anime collecting began. We were getting into it at the exact time that anime was just getting on the rise in America, which is pretty cool in retrospect, cuz it makes me feel like I was right there in the action, lol. Most of the DVDs we bought were volume ones because we wanted to get so many different series, but couldn't afford to buy whole series, so i've seen like the first 5 episodes of a whole ton of anime. A lot of the shows we were buying back then are either now well-known or have been on TV, sometimes to my chagrin >_> For about 2 years all my time and money was dedicated to anime and manga research, so I pretty much knew everything about the anime that was around in America and about the history of anime. Unfortuanetally, I was basically unaware of how uninformed i was in comparison to most major anime fans. I didn't know I could watch subs or anything, nor how easily I could have gotten anime. I was a hopeless n00bish anime fanboy who loved shows like Kenshin and read Naruto religously (I liked it before it was cool!) After those 2 years, though, i had a falling-out with anime because I got back into video games and spent a year dedicating my time and money to researching and buying video games. When I got poor for a while I fell out with that, too, and when I got money back, it was all about music... It was around February of this year that I rediscovered anime via the Megatokyo forums. I started watching shows that were still airing in Japan and I opened up to an entire different world of anime. Now I'm one of the anime big-wigs round these parts ^_^

Favorite genre. And does your family like it?
2010DigitalBoy replied to Aberinkula's topic in Noosphere
My mom's all-time favorite band is System of a Down, who she is obsessed with and loves everything about, period. She's got more SOAD crap than probably anyone. She's also a pretty big fan of Satyricon, Ministry, Jane's Addiction, Bauhaus, Nine Inch Nails, Revolting Cocks, Amen, and Mastodon. She's a big fan of 80s music period, namely industrial-rock and synth crap, and she loves black metal. My mom is very genre-centric. If it isn't fast, loud, or energetic, she won't like it. She can't stand my post-rock music, but she loves my metal. My dad doesn't listen to too much music, but he very passionetaly feels about the bands he likes. Rush is his alltime favorite, and he's a big fan of Jane's Addiction. He also likes the 80s bands like Zepplin and stuff. He doesn't like his music to be too heavy, nor does he like any kind of screaming. He likes songs that are easy to follow I could say, since he, too, doesn't like my post or prog all that much. Basically, he's pretty lame. My 14 year-old brother likes some of my bands, and he mostly likes stuff that's uplifting. He hates dark music and stuff that he can't get am image from. He's absolutely obsessed with Dragonforce, and he loves Ayreon, Coheed and Cambria, Mastodon, Gorillaz, Green Day, Avenged Sevenfold, Franz Ferdinand, Linkin Park, Rush, and Tenacious D. He also likes Agalloch, Tool, Pearls and Brass, SOAD, and Type O Negative. My 9-year old bro just likes Gorillaz, SOAD, and Avenged Sevenfold, and everything else he just sort of tolerates. My brothers are the ones who are subject to my music the most because whenever i'm in the room, i want to listen to it. My brothers both absolutely hate Isis with every ounce of their might, and neither can really stand The Mars Volta either. When it comes to my post-rock, they just think it's 'boring'. -
Your posts will cause a big commotion in America once an overconcerned Republican parent finds out about what forums and anime do to you.
*after a 12 hour sleep...* I can see what you mean, but you should also include video games, gameFAQs itself, and Mountain Dew. Anyway, i feel refreshed from my sleep, so hopefuly I can operate more clearly now. There's a pretty badass thunderstorm outside that hasn't started raining so I'd like to go take a picture of it....

My body is on the verge of shutting down completely. I'm barely getting any sleep whatsoever, and my sleep schedule is erratic and unhealthy. I've been switching randomely between undereating and overeating while consuming my wieght in Mountain Dew daily. I've been keeping myself awake when tired on sheer desire to get more done in my awake time, and I'm loosing my mind, not to mention my trail of thought keeps breaking. I keep spending days doing nothing but sitting down, then getting hyperactive on one day and doing all kinds of stuff, pushing my body to exertion. Everything about me is screaming 'unhealty' right about now. I wouldn't be surprised if the physical and mental stress put me in a coma >_> which is cool, cuz i've always wanted to be in a coma.
Last week was the forth of July remember? Also DB told us to have our characters wrap it up for the day and most of us already have. We are waiting on the rest of you to post. ;) Also, even though only DB knows what he has in mind, time wise, unless your character is going to talk to another one the time is irrelevant. Your post at say midnight would not matter if it came before Fyxe or Aaryanna who are still around 7:45pm. I for one don't find characters, in the same day being at different times confusing. Even then DB, you can always start off the next part if people take to long, after all, if it's the morning of day two, the implication that people at one point did indeed go to bed is rather obvious isn't it?
I'm stalling because I'm tired, sunburned, my muse is on vacation, I forgot where we are and don't have a strinct enough aesthetic for this rp, I have a lot of stuff i'm doing, and I'm a naturally lazy person. >_> Indiff, you've been a magnificent advisor to me in the past - I'd be honored if you PMed me some aid...

You may or may not have seen the single-episode OVA Sky Girls that got generally mixed reactions from all viewers, but that's irrelevant here. Sky Girls is a new anime series with the concept and characters of the OVA turned into a series (and without all the creepy furry stuff). Wether or not you will like sky girls is something you could probably determine just from watching the opening song, seen here. That said, though, if the first episode is any indication, it won't be quite the hyperactive madness that that OP makes it look to be. The premise is as follows: in the not-all-that-distant future, these creatures titled WORMS sprung out all Gears of War like and started reeking havoc on the planet. Also like in GoW, the earth defense finally has to resort to nuclear arms to blast the crap out of everything. As a result, most of the world is now underwater, and almost all of the world's military force (or as they so elegantly put it, men between 20 and 40) were killed (AKA excuse to recruit young girls). Nowadays the WORMS are long gone, but for some reason the military is running around recruiting young girls as test pilots for some new mechanism... The main character (or at least the central character of episode one) is a girl named Otoha... A small-town girl with big dreams of being a pilot like her late father. She is a trained swordsman who was supposed to inherit her grandfather's dojo. One day, she is approached to try out this test project. Meanwhile, we are shown some other girls who are being asked the same - one who's a super jenius and has a sophomore degree at sixteen. The other girl isn't explained much except we see that she is an exceptional jet pilot. She's totally my favorite yet. Personally, though it didn't cover much ground, I really liked the first episode. The animation above all else was super-pretty and the character designs were, needless to say, awesome. I don't just mean that in the perverted sense either, though there was a damn fine amount of fanservice in this episode. My favorite par tof it was how the characters seemed so human. From the way they moved while talking to the at least mildly natural-sounding script, there was a lot to enjoy in the characters. While they aren't completely original, they aren't laughably and over-extremely cliche. That is, so far. I can already tell that the character interactions and melodrama will be the fabric of the show, and there will be plenty of wacky robot action and sweet, sweet fanservice coated on top. This will definitely be a journey of epic proportions. As a first epsiode, it's only real flaw was in not moving the plot along fast enough, but that just leaves you more curious as to what the hell happens next.
-
However, after getting curious I finally checked out the first episode and now here I am, done with the second and planning on watching the third. This is one of the wackiest shows I've seen in quite a while. With all the serious chat about how to eat and grill, to Kotana
not being interested in clubs since it would interfere with watching anime
It's hilarious.
Wait till
Konata's being a lesbian in a public bath
and you realize you're actually a pedophile. That's when the series really picks up. *is behind*
Okay... It seems like we've been a bit low on activity. (Not something to be worried about, but I'm just pointing it ou) I would like to wait to make my post at midnight since that's what I stipulated in my last post, but it seems like we've only moved up to 7:45... So, if you no one else has a problem, then I'll make a post (granted that Fyxe still wants to go first) puttingus at midnight, and then Hells can end off the day or something. (since I know he wants me to include Dante at the club as well) If that's okay with everyone, then I'll do it, but I won't post until I get the okay from you guys... I don't want to god-mod this thing. On another note to DB, why does the start of the second day have to be the start of the next chapter? I'm just saying that if you're not completely sure on how to start it, then it's fine to wait a bit and go ahead and let the next day start since you were already forced to start the 2nd earlier than planned.
I do things in a very meticulous-pain-in-the-ass way. The reason for the day 2 thing is because it's perfect inspiration, fits logically, isn't obtuse to everyone's schedule, and i can start it in like 2 posts >_> Go ahead post, you don't need permission just freakin do it! BTW its like 2 here XD

GTA sucks. Suck can't be epic anyhow, I haven't played God of War 2. Also, my list was supposed to be only last-gen so no Oblivion or them things. While RPGs can be epic, I find epic to ruly be a game where everything is grandious from start to finish. God of War always has that sense of extreme power as you manage puzzles the size of gods and such. Shadow ot Colossus is self-explanitory. Zelda is plain huge and sticks with you. Others on my list included Halo, Zone of the Enders: the 2nd Runner, Phantasy Star Online Episode 1&2, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Radiata Stories (see! Epic RPG), Onimusha 3, and Pokemon Silver.
Why would you want to go to McDonald's?
Many places have a McDonalds on every block i think she was expressing her distance from society. I live in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where i have lived most of my life, despite this being my 17th house. Where i live there is a 7-11 every 30 seconds, which is great because I love 7-11. Everyone here goes to 7-11. I go at least once or twice a week with my pals. Um... and the beach is a short drive I guess, but it's crowded and disgusting. VA beach is slowly growing - we recently got a rediculously huge tower near one of our malls that's growing steadily (but still sucks compared to others in the area.) So... yeah. Whatever.

Haha! Looks like Jake finally came back and is as pissed at crappy bands as ever! I have no idea how I overlooked Nickelback, one of the horrendous, sucky mainstream bands that make no sense. Oi. I was just doing a Top 10 for GameFAQs on epic games, so I figured I'd start a topic her about it. What do you think are some of the most epic games? I'll just do the top 3 since the list was huge as 10. 1. Shadow of the Colossus This is, by far, the most epic, massive game ever to be created. First of all, the world in which it takes place is enormous and breathtaking, and the best part is that you never once have to backtrack. Each time you defeat a colossus, you are sent back to the temple at the center of the continent, leaving you to another amazing journey on your way to the next boss fight. This world is so huge that you never really cover most of it in the short game, and there are some secrets it holds that you might not even realize on your first play through. Adding to that, there are no load screens throughout. The biggest thing about this game, in every way, is the bosses. In Shadow of the Colossus, there are no regular enemies. The entire game is in 16 boss battles, each unique from one another, even though some of them look similar. To defeat the giant beasts, your character, Wander, must literally climb their backs, make your way to their head, and jam your sword into their weak points releasing sprays of blood. Between the sheer scope of the fights to the creative and sometimes insane ways you have to win them is 16 of the greatest boss fights in gaming history. The final boss itself is probably the most massive. 2. God of War What?s there to say about this game that hasn?t been said before? It?s bloody, brutal, and Kratos is one of the most visceral and cool characters to walk the digital plane. This game starts you out in the middle of an action scene and jumps straight into a massive boss battle. It stays exciting all the way through and continues to surprise with it?s steady mix of ingenious puzzles and pulse-pumping action scenes. The story is one of the best I?ve seen in an action game, and leads up to a truly awesome conclusion.
The best and most epic part of the entire game, though, is that Kratos actually fights his way out of Hades. This level is ridiculously hard, entirely exciting, and one of the most fulfilling experiences in any game. Who else can say that they fought their way out from the bowls of Hell itself? No one. And the ending; just the way Kratos sits in his throne and chills was wonderful.
3. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess While the beautiful landscape doesn?t quite match the size and accessibility of the number one game on this list, it is a masterfully created world that holds a grand plethora of exploration and tons of things to discover. When compared to earlier incarnations of the Zelda series, one can see just how huge this game really is, especially since most of it?s areas offer plenty of exploring before even entering the extensive dungeons. Even the Wind Waker isn?t quite as big as this one. Because one Zelda is enough, and I?d like to pick the biggest of the series, this takes the only Zelda spot on the countdown.
The final battle(s) in this game are some of the most epic, fun, and satisfying to grace my gaming eyes. While the earlier parts of the battle are far more difficult and interesting, the ultimate one-on-one sword fight between Link and Ganondorf is really the cat?s meow. While simplistic, the joy of simply beating Ganondorf to the ground like you?ve wanted to since that Gamecube preview in ?01 was superb. The final blow, Link slamming the sword into him and his reaction to this action were pure bliss.
