That Feeling of IMPENDING DOOM.....
2010DigitalBoy replied to visualkei's topic in General Discussion
Mmmm.... well, I had a feeling kind of like that today when it occured to me that my changces of pulling up my grades before the soon-to-come report card would be impossible, and ther's a fairly good chance I'm going to fail all my classes. However, each passing grading period I seem to care less and less. The biggest reason for this doomyness is just that I always seem to have this urgency about things. I often overburn myself because I feel like everything needs to get done immediately and there's too many things I've set out to do. This is why I can't wait to be through with school and never have to worry about it again. -
lol, I think I just figured out why old boy is so much like an anime/manga.

Just got done watching the first season which was awesome in so many ways that it outweighed the bad, though I have some real issues with it. Mostly the last episode, which is nothing but ****ing exposition for season two, which generally pissed me off. But yeah, after a great first 2 eps, things were rocky for 3-4 eps, but by ep 7 it was smooth sailing... 12 was kind of boring being nothing but a 'loading the guns' sort of episode. The climax is okay - it could have been much better, but could have been much worse. The last episode just totally left me with a bad taste in my mouth, but besides that it was mostly completely awesome. Another gripe I have its that everyone in this show is a goddamn martyr. It starts to piss you off when you've heard the words 'I'll prtect you' the 754th time.

Anime The anime here in america...is it getting childish?
2010DigitalBoy replied to Humaru's topic in Otaku Central
Two words.... Shin Chan
Actually, used properly it is sort of one word, Shin-chan. -chan is a suffix, it's not his last name or anything. But yeah, that is one awesomely bad translation XD -
Yeah, they've seemed like something you'd like to me, as well. All of their stuff is good except for every single song on Manipulator. Stay the hell away from that album. XD I was so happy when Fall of Troy's "FCPREMIX" got on Guitar Hero III, too bad no one who plays the game knows who they are.
lol, i think I remember seeing that, and thinking 'ewww screamo' and not buying it XD. Maybe I should. I've been listening to Mouths like Sidewinder missles like crazy, but next I'll give said song a try. Oh my ****ing god, Mann. I need to bo buy Dopplegange, like, now.

Anime Eureka Seven: Psalms of Planets
2010DigitalBoy replied to Fasteriskhead's topic in Otaku Central
Mine too, plus Enomine, she is also hot. I lvev Eureka's voice too, it's o sincere and it has meaning. And Talho... let's just say each one is good in one way, but no one beats Eureka. But what I like about Enomine, is her crazy sidde, I love crazy girls, they are hot and veyr forceful. Talho was ot... until a bit later. >_>
Getting past the fact that you spelled so much wrong that I can barely read your post... dude, do you see anything other than a chick's looks, or what? You've gotta be, like, the horniest dude I've ever known XD. And I'm guessing you mean Talho's makeover but... dude, she was
pregnant
. Anyway, as for Eureka's voice, I watched it in Japanese so if I agree, it's not on the same thing. -
So, Mann told me to listen to The Fall of Troy because (and this is what HE said NOT me) "they sound like coheed/the sound of animals fighting." Now, I thought for sure I'd go listen and ronounce it the first and last time I took advice from Mann but for SOME UNGODLY REASON I actually like this music. Its.... it's bewildering, but I really enjoy it...

Anime Eureka Seven: Psalms of Planets
2010DigitalBoy replied to Fasteriskhead's topic in Otaku Central
Eureka. She appeals to all of my favorite aspects of a woman. Short hair, small breasts, strong and silent type, and she has kids which is a major plus. Her and Renton have my favorite anime relationship ever. -
When I think 'wedding ring' I think of this: { } and the "onion ring" that inspired me to create it. Shows how young I am XD

Does it count to have junioritis? I feel exactly like you do right now, and I'm ready to leave school already. I almost felt that way last year, but like you, I got to that point where I just stopped doing anything. It's partly from looking back and partly from looking forward. My whole life, school was a pain, from trying to kill myself in 3rd grade over grades and being bullied, further being bullied through middle school, etc. However, the first major axe in my ability to care was at the last quarter of ninth grade after I moved away from the inner-city school i'd been attending for 6 months. It turned out that all of my grades had pretty much been meaningless, since my final grades only reflected what I'd done since coming to the new school. Mind you, my grades weren't different enough for me to complain, but when I looked back on 6 months of absolute HELL and realized that it'd had no meaning at all, I began to care less about my work. However, this year, it basically happened at the end of November. Having dropped the only class that took any real effort to pass (due to the stupidly immense amount of effort required), AP English, I decided to completely and utterly stop caring. In the past 2 weeks in my math class I have not done anything. Well, except write anime reviews XD. I didn't even hand in the quiz we took. I don't do any homework, and copy others' where possible. I'm not failing all my classes (I'd say half, probably. Passing English now, have Ds in 3 other of my 6 classes, at least I think so). I know that it's going to bite me in the *** when my parents (who have alway been srtict about grades and recently highly disapponted in my development) see my report card, but really, I cannot even remotely care. And I'm happy that way, because I know it's what's right for me.

I might sheck them out since I'm a little bit of a closet post-hardcore fan. Currently listening to Lost My Music, which is the second song from the concert scene in The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya that is always overlooked. It's a great song, but God Knows is just so incredibly amazing that it overshadows anything else, XD.
And then there's my favorite song of all time, literally.. "Light and The Glass" by Coheed. I can't tell you how many times I've cried on that song. The choir singing "Pray for us all"... Claudio yelling out "Your father's dead, he died in his sleep", which reminds me of my wife, who the lyrics follow closely.. It's sad, yes.
Ah, some great (terrible?) memories to that one. I love the ending most of all for being so epic, but my experiences are with the rest. Having been in a long-distance relationship, it was too fitting. 'Carving her name across your arm.... with every wish, it's hit or miiiiiiiiiss heeeeeeeer I tooooold you sooooo, I measured a distance in lines, departing the rest of our lives' lyrics to die bye, hehe. I can't tell you how many times I laid in bed listening to that song and hoping sleep or death would come before 21:13, but thankfully that's all in the past ^^;; next I'd like to mention another anime song, God Knows... from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. In my opinion, it's the best vocal performance ever, and it gives me chills (especially watching with the anime footage.... the part where she yells "dakara....WATASHI!!" is animated so well it's moving). That song always just makes me feel blown away, like I've just witnessed something truly beautiful *likens it to the intoduction of Boogiepop vs. Imaginator novel. EVERYONE should read that intro.... and all Boogiepop-related material*

Another reason to hate the Administration.
2010DigitalBoy replied to Allamorph's topic in General Discussion
Does this count?
at the time, i was living in a rather bad neighboorhood and went to a pretty crappy school. It sucked for me being one of about 5 white kids in the building cuz next to no one ever talked to me and stuff. About 3 weeks before we moved away from there was a particular incident that was memorably zany. At my school, there was this one guy who was like the hall monitor guy or otherwise disciplinary officer of the school - he was pretty useless, but he would get you in trouble for stupid **** (you had to keep your shirt tucked in at all times, for example, though we only did so when he was around.) The guy was basically a freak cuz he didn't seem to have a brain or any sense whatsoever, and he abused his so-called power like crazy. On this day, that guy as well as the officers who worked at our school came into the classroom because they were going to do a backpack check. They lined all the students up against the walls and started going through all the desks and backpacks in the room! So the crazy man goes into my backback and pulls out my scissors. I was using one of those big pairs of scissors, and this maniac pulls them out and starts going 'who's is this? Who's backpack is this?' and ****. Me being honest raised my hand timidly and was called forth. 'What ere you doing with these?!' what should I say? 'um... it's a pair of scissors' 'but what were you doing with them?!' what the ****? He's never used scissors before? Are you serious? So this guy starts telling me that I can be prosecuted for this, that I might be expelled and promises me that I'm going to get in trouble. He puts the things in a manilla envelope and everything and hands it to an officer! Needless to say I was freaking out for the rest of the day. Thank god i never heard about that again... I guess he really was all talk...
-
Listening to the opening of Tokyo Majin which is lol Japanese hardcore. The genre seems to be the same there as here XD.
Calling it an Eva knock-off is a little unfair. If anything it's more like RahXephon in the way things happen. For one thing, it's not about
'reshaping' the world as such- they were sent to prevent things from happening in the future they escaped from. It doesn't change the world in the same way it apparently happens in Eva (which I'm still not sure about, given the rather complicated and ambiguous nature of both the series and the movie endings).
That said, it's been a long time since I watched Gawl and I don't remember much about it. I think I remember enjoying it, but being a little frustrated by the English dub. Those were the early days of ADV though. Methinks I shall watch it again at some point, in Japanese.
I haven't seen Rahxephon, but it came 2 years after Gawl. Gawl was in the time of Eva's remaining rediculous popularity, and since ADVs money has always ridden on Eva, I woudn't be surprised if Gawl was only liscenced for the similarities.

Jsut blasted through 5 hours of God of War 2, which isn't as good as the first one yet. Story isn't as good, I'm still fighting the same old enemies and killing them in the same ways, puzzles are still good, but less ingenious and I want to know wwhy I'm climbing on a wall every 5 ****ing minutes. Still, though, epic and awesome experience nonetheless. I do enjoy killing pretty much everyone the Greeks ever wrote about XD game seems to be longer too, since I beat game 1 in about 5:30 while I've got about 5 hours logged into 2 and am only at Atlas. 1 thing I should note - I always play games on easy mode because I generally suck at video games, however, even on easy, I found the first game to be a harsh, unforgiving *****, but in this on eI an in-de-****ing-structible. Anyway, I got stuck and went to look at a guide (because I was serioulsly stuck) and saw how far i was from the end, so putting it down for now lol (have to be at school in a couple hours)

Anime What are You Watching/Reading Now?
2010DigitalBoy replied to 2010DigitalBoy's topic in Otaku Central
The first episode of Tokyo Majin is probably the greatest first episode ever. TONS of over-the-top action, thrills, great characters already, and the atmosphere is simply perfect. I love how Shinsen-subs used Shin Megami Tensei music with their ending TL notes, because the style is similarly awesome. I'm definitely psyched about this one, even though I've heard it's never as good as ep 1. Will post in main thread after completion. -
Taiyou no Mannake he by Bivattche is the third opening theme to Eureka Seven, and I have to say, nothing out there is quite as upliting and generally make you feel like following your dreams, which is my favorite feeling in the world. Having first heard it in the show, I always loved the parts where he yells 'I WANNA FLY AWAY!' though hearing the full version it's just an all-around epic song. Can't beat symphonic indie, lol.
Haha, Christ, I thought the complete opposite about Oldboy. The basic concept is great, and everything else about it I like (acting, directing, fight scenes, etc.), but once the story starts getting into
Dae-su remembering his past and the high school hijinks with Woo-jin and Soo-ah, the plot just gets too ridiculous, unbelievable, and retarded for me to care about. I will say, though, that smug!Woo-jin is awesome. "*****, I just made you do it with your daughter - HOW YOU LIKE THAT??"
Um, glad you liked it, though. :p
lol, well, I don't like things to be realistic anyway (as you would be able to tell if you saw the end of Dead or Alive XD) as for Oldboy, I dunno if I'd say it was at all realistic from the start, but it was a very anime style plot, which is probably what drew me into it. And I LOVE
incest
>_>

I watched The Protector. There's not much to say, it was by far the greatest action/martial arts film ever. Tony Jaa is a golden god. I also watched Dead or Alive, a Japanese film by director Takashi Mike who is known best for doing the Ichi the Killer movie. It was pretty ****ing sick, and the style was jost so different that it was refreshing, if a little boring. However, all I really recall is the OH MY GOD ****ING AMAZING ending. I won't spoil it, just go watch th movie yourself. It is, BY FAR, the greatest ending i've ever seen. I also watched Oldboy, an awesome and trippy Korean movie that felt about twice it's 2-hour length. It was an excellent mix of suspense, action, and psychology with a dash of black comedy thrown in for good measure. One of the most well-written movies I'd say I've ever seen and the innumerable plot twists and mechanics are just too much fun. Really, really awkward moments, too. I believe that covers it so far.

When I die, the world will have ended, so I won't really have a tombstone, but I guess... "A God in an Alcove" or better yet, "This Apparatus Must be Unearthed" XDDDD
*Raises hand* I'll join. Buuut... for the avatars, what picture do you want? A cartoon/anime image? The image you posted didn't show up for me ^_^;;
Yeah, anime or cartoon - he said 'animated' but I believe he meant drawn, lol.

@ Panache: Bottom is a good one - I've actaully gotten tired f the ong from playing it too damn much, but I can't help but listen to it when it comes on - it gets you in the '**** the world' attitude where you look around, see everything you hate, and just start screaming. Another one I like to sing loud. @ Mr. Maul: Bright Eyes "Four Winds" is the only song I've really heard by them, but it's sort of melancholy nature is deep and touching. It's a song I really have to be in the mood for, though, but when I feel like the world is messed up, it always fits. I used the lyrics in an english report once.

Listening to Euphoric Field, the openiing theme to ef ~a tale of memories~ which is my favorite anime of all time as it stands. Heard the full version the first time, reading the lyrics, then listened to the Japanese version used in the last episode, then went back to lisen to the full again without reading it. For those who aren't aware, the lyrcs in my signature come from this song, and I pplan for them to remain there for as long as ef remains my alltime favorite show, which is bound to be a bit of time until Shinbo creates something even better, lol. The song is simply amazing, beautiful, and inspirational. Even if the singer's English is HORRIBLE, it still sounds great XD. I plan to record my own version with vocals done by local English speaker yours truly XD
