1. What songs make you feel a strong emotion? Maybe it's a deep sadness or melancholy, or a powerful charge, or jsut makes you feel good. I'm talking about that song that makes you feel that way each time you listen - a little bit of magic in music. For me, the strognest one is probably Three Evils (Embodied in Love and Shadow) by Coheed and Cambria. I cannot easily describe the feeling I get - it's one part rebellious, a part emo, and a part venting your frustration. The lyrics are pretty emotional themself, and quite emo I might add XD. Just the repeated line, "pull the trigger and the nightmare stops!" is one of the most powerful images you can get, and a sort of ultimate emotional conflict. I tell you, I sing this song louder and more animatedly than any other, sometimes jumping around my room, jumping on (and thereby toppeling) chairs and flipping out while screaming the words (my room is really damn big). It's the sort of song that always makes me feel a little angry when I listen and makes me want to move faster than normal. How about you? (expecting Clurr with an AFI song in T minus 10...9...)
 2. Ah, that **** was hilarious! I agree, mucho respect.
 3.
Then why haven't you posted it? lol
Wanted to finish my character + get both onto comp. Anywho, please forgive my use of pictures for lack of scanner and general inability to draw worth a damn XD however, I think this turned out really well. I wrote a brief fic for it, too. "Hitomi was stunned - Sayuri had puched her over while her guard was down, and a confusion overwhlemed her. She couldn't decifer her feelings - a fear that had spread throughout her mind which she hadn't thought would appear. Sayuri's gaze wasn't of malice, despite the profues bleeding from her arm and leg. She was smiling, but Hitomi didn't see that - her eyes were wide only with shock. In a moment of depseration on the brink of death, Sayuri had captured her and now descended upon her slowly. Sayuri closed her eyes and gently kissed the only person she'd ever been able to love. Hitomi's eyes, still wide, began to pour with tears. She didn't understand - perhaps it was her mind's realization that she was covered in blood, her friend dying atop her because of her actions, but she simply couldn't understand." And now, my character. I couldn't remember his name because I lost the file with information from the story he's in - Looking Forward. However, this character joins the team when the male lead becomes enraptured with him on first sight, thinking he's a girl. The character has been making a living in the poor city as a prostitute - only able to afford a raggedy dress. His skin and hair are pure white and eyes a glowing yellow. The male lead rescues him from this life, but the character feels horrible because he feels he is deceiving everyone. He reveals that he is a boy, but the male lead loves him still. Here he is on the corner, seeing you, but then turning away.
 4. Just make sure you actually post his time, Hells XD I have also invited another interested person, so hopefully she will sign up as well. EDIT: XD should have reloaded the page. I'm definitely in. I'll have my characers to you in a jiff.
 5. My city is known for being a ******-*** tourism spot because it's right on the (disgusting) beach and pretty soon it's going to be known for more I'm gussing since our buildings recently started getting much, much bigger. Mostly we are known by the fact that we are 'For Lovers' - lovers who like ****** beaches I guess, but luckily as a city native I know where the uncrouded ones are, hehehe. Oh, and I hail from Virginia Beach. Yeah, that's right, we advertise it in our goddamn title. That's just blatantly misleading.
 6. What am I playing? At this very second? Nothing. However, I can hear my brother playing the drums on Rock Band right now all the way across the house. I haven't played in a few days but i keep getting randomely roped in for anywhere from minutes to hours on end. Otherwise, I'm still not playing enough games because the mac is a douche and I am too lazy to turn my head 90 degrees and play PS2. However, i really want to give the Orange Box a try, as well as get back to Persona.
 7.
D:< I don't know that you can do that. ( I mean seriously, I've been waiting forever. T__T )
Too bad, cuz I finished the pic already :p EDIT: For the record, as well, I REALLY REALLY wanted to do one of Konata's characters, being that I consider her a good friend ^_^
 8. I unfortunetaly can't be so very constructive because art is not my forte, however I believe that aynone who obsereves art whoud comment on it, and I know that every artist values their commentary. Now, I have a habit, like many do, of calling things 'great' or 'amazing' only to lump them in with everything else that's great or amazing. I would say, though, that some of your art sits on the higher tiers of what I consider great. Just going through, I don't have interest in still life or the two at the bottom, so I can't say much, but everything else is spectacular, especially your drawings of the goth kids and that utterly awesome TV-head w/ skull which would make a beautiful page in an album booklet. Now, for the ones that I found extra special. I definitely love the Reaper design. I'm a big fan of the Reaper's more uniqu looks and your is a great one, though I can't say much for the pot leaf background, lol. The ink drawing is also very badass and would probably make a sweet tattoo or something, too. Also, the oil one is just so wonderfully trippy that it's impossible not to love.
 9. It might be easier to accept the guidelines of ye metalitons if you weren't constantly backstabbing your credibility with snide remarks about the bands we like, yaknow? I mean, it's one thing to teach someone to like more music, it's another to tell them they lack intelligence for what they already listen to. I like Coheed and Cambria more than most metal bands. You're not going to convince me not to like them by telling me they are bad when in my mind they are good, because you're just contradicting what I regard as fact, hence conflict. I've learned a lot from Jake by listening to his praise for bands, but nothing from his insults. Honestly, people, there's no reason to get all fired up and insulting over this. You can't take the fac tthat someone likes Coheed and Opeth as an insult or stupidity on their part - it's just a difference in tase. All the insults are just perpetuating this conflict. Prem, honestly, you need to not be so emotional about it, too. Jake is a troll in a lot of ways, and letting him get to you is just feeding the troll and makes you look like an idiot, hence the insults and the idea that you never learn. Not that the others are helping much, but try to just ignore their comments and you'll be off much better. I admit, I get emotional myself, especially when being accused of something I had no way of avoiding, however feeding the troll just got both of us in trouble. So for god's sake, someone has to be the better man, so stop bitching back and forth. Personally, I won't even reply to the comments about Coheed - those are 0beron's opinions which I'm not oing to change - I'll just keep my own opinion - no need to argue. - also, i'm listening to the last song on the Ayreon album - most of the album was good, some wasn't as great. It's more along the lines of their old style, with remnants of the Human Equation laying about.
 10.
Yes i've heard of rock band.I've also heard it kinda sucks, but only in some parts. take the guitaring, i heard that it lacks, and is way behind guitar hero. now as for comparing the rest of rock band to guitar hero, it's gonna be like comparing the harry potter books to their counterpart movies, yes some of the movies were good but they weren't as good as the books. I've also heard thar the vocals stink because you can't change octaves you have to sing it how it is, which is particularly hard for me since i'm a tenor/bass. So unlike karaoke revolution you can't switch octaves. Never heard anything bad about the drumming, but i'm sure i will eventually, my problem with the drums is, they are only toms and a bass, and toms are only fun with quints or quads when you are marching or in drumline, or atleast that's my postion. Other than that i've heard that it's a pretty good game. But i just think it's a bunch of hype.
I'd highly recommend you play it before jumpiing to conclsions. Like I said before, it's infinitely better than GH. The guitar peripheral in particular is monumentally awesome. I can sing most of the songs, and on easy mode and sometimes medium, my little bro can get high scores just by mumbling. The drums are brilliant once you get used to them.
 11. First, let me say that my little bro owns and is master of both Guitar Hero 3 and Rock Band (though he will only play the drums because he hates the Rock Band guitar). As for how I feel about them... it's quite complex. It goes without saying that Rock Band is, by far, WAY better than GH3. However... I just don't have as much fun plaing it I guess. However, I attribute all of that solely to not being able to go head-to-head. I only ever played GH3 on pro face off jammin out against my bros for bragging rights. All of us being on a team is fun, but just not as fun. Besides, while I get my occasional turn on guitars or drums, I'm mostly given the position of vocalist because.... I can sing. And since my brothers are as god if-not-better than me at their respective instruments, my position is set. I don't mind much because I have DREAMED of singing Welcome Home as karaoke, but I still would like the opportunity to slam my bro at it and laugh. So until I can do battles, GH3 wil still hold a place in my heart (not to mention while Welcom Home, Tom Sawyer (despite gay-*** cover) and Black Hole Sun are all cool, NOTHING is as satisfying as beating the most manly song ever, Knights of Cydonia, covered in sweat and laughing with pride).
 12. Oioi! I just (legally?) obtained the soon-to be released Ayreon album 01011001 and it is kicking some real *** as of track one (which is like 10 minutes long, XD). It's even go the vocalist from Blind Guardian! That's, like, automatic epic! This one seems to have a lot less focus on vocals than The Human Experiment, which is logical becasue THE was an opera anyway, but luckily it keeps the heavy roots of it's predecessor - the lack of which turned me off of Ayreon's earlier works. And as usual, the concept is pretty ****ing hilariously weird, but awesome.
 13.
That sentence might be the most nonsensical thing ever written. How can you write "I'm not genre specific, I hardy know about genres" and then follow it with "I just hate when people get them wrong"? Do you hate yourself as well? Besides, I think you are becoming a bit genre picky. Metalcore might be a fusion of metal styles and a little hardcore punk but it is still plenty close enough to metal to be called metal. Music is becoming overly sub-genred, and artists, afraid of getting bunched together with the herd, keep coming up with sub-genres within sub-genres. Honestly,I think these genres keep popping up because a lot of musicians are insecure. Though I would probably feel the same way about anyone that felt the need to snub me because I confused a metalcore band with a metal one.
I'm begging all of you, PLEASE reply through PM. Anyway, I'm listening now to... Wolves In The Throne Room, again XD. I can't help it, this album is incredible. It's one of those 'I could listen to this every day' albums. I want to memorize the whole thing!
 14.
I was on a ridiculous amount of time within the first few months, and I mean a lot. DB claims to post a ridiculous amount, but he's really a lightweight.
Forgive me if the OB decided every post had to be quality XD. I can match a weeks worth of OB posts with a day's worth on Megatokyo because of that fact alone, lol.
 15. This thread isn't in the directory : O And... i knew I remembered there being a Generator Galw thread, but who would've thought I created it?! XD! So, after 3 years of watching it, I have FINALLY finished watching Generator Gawl, and for an Eva clone, it was done very well. Kind of funny how I started this show and Eva around the same time and only saw the cheerful beginnings, not seeing the real meat of the plot until years later, lol. Okay, so calling it an Eva knock-off might be a little much, but let's be honest, it probably was.
There was a girl in a giant orange test tube with clones on-hand, all the computer scenes looked the exact same, a test subject throws it's opponent into a giant orange window where the scientists are operating, an ending where the main character reshapes the world, and even the series structure, beginning calmly with a mix of action and comedy, then getting darker until becoming dramatic
- it's no wonder ADV was so quick to license this show back in the day. However, like most things that exist, Generator Gawl doesn't have half the impact of Eva, being half the length as well, however the pacing is much, much better. Gawl moves very fast from start to finish, making it the perfect show for a marathon, and is always totally fun and interesting. While rife with plot twists, it manages to remain a bit unpredictable as well as logical. I'm willing to bet that some things would bug some viewers, especially some of what is revealed in the last episode, but I think the logic supported all of it well enough, even if the ending was an ultimate plot-fixer trick. If you have a rainy day, I highly recommend giving this little 12-ep series a look, especially if you'd like to see a shorter, less high-brow-mind-****ing version of eva.
 16.
That's not a sage. That's a fluffy owl.
Then I must be a mouse. (or a rat... or a rat-boy.... this explains a lot) Anywho, I don't realy go on hiatus much, and even when I come here far less than usual no one notices becaue I'm still here far more than they are XD. There have been a couple times in the past few years where I was gone for a bit. The first time was moving into a new house 2 years ago and osing internet for a month - a month I spent crying and being pissed about not having internet while my organs twisted around my brain tightly. The next was a mildly enjoyable 2-month disconnection. Both times, I jsut sort of alked back in - I wans't really well-known then anyway, so whatever. Does being banned count as hiatus? XD The times that happened, I just sort of 'laid low' when I got back.
 17. Since you both like it, I feel the need to unleash this bit of copypasta ~ ugh.... well, they did some things right but... the changes from the manga are all negative. They didn't express horo's emotions nearly as well, and Lawrence is WAY weaker of a character. They got the character designs alright, but the art is simply not as good (not that that's a surprise since the manga art is in-****ing-credible). It wasn't all failure, but I definitely think it will be one where reading the manga is a more worthwhile experience, especially since the animation is pretty static. I absolutely dislike Lawrence's voice actor (he should have had a Ginko style voice...) however, I will say that this show's soundtrack has already proven to be out of this world. I will definietly get the soundtrack, hell I might even import the damn thing - the opening theme is beautiful and all the insert songs and the ending all had a beautiful and very tonally fitting sound. I wouldn't mind putting this on while I read the manga, heh.
 18.
Now, when we say "Sixth Album", are we talking about "Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence"? (Note: I had to wade chest deep through EP listings to find their actual full-lengths.) The reason it's so expensive is because it's two discs. If you're really a fan, go for it. However, Dream Theater annoys me in ways that only Jake can express.
I have to agree, they are not bad, but they are just so goddamn pretentious it's disgusting. I read an interview where one of them said [paraphrasing](regardless how you feel about these bands): "You know, there's a few bands out there like Mastodon, The Mars Volta, and Tool who we are kind of similar to, however al of them are selling realy well and we aren't. However, our music is better than theirs - it's like people like things that are lower quality." I just couldn't find it in me to respect them after that. I still like some of their music, but it's sort of like those damn nazi bands - you just can't bring yourself to enjoy them when they are like that.
 19. Hmm... well, most of Gunslinger Girl takes place in city settings, but it's not really a city-slicker manga (it does take place in Italy, after all) do you mind readong anime on the computer, or do you prefer to buy them?
 20.
That's besides the point DB. This is based on what the person viewing it thinks, whether or not you agree is irrelevant. :p
You misread his post. "and I believe that it is nearly impossible to get addicted or even watch the show for one episode" that's why I said I was disproving him, unless he only meant himself. And lol, yeah, Ikki Tousen is pretty bad from what I hear, though the chara designs are pretty hot, lol.
 21.
I dont know what I'm going to do about you, DB. :p Anyways, on the subject of Ergo Proxy, the last episode I saw was the one where
Re-L discovered her little split personality with Vincent, which was an oddly satisfying twist.
I also saw the episode where Pino was in that Proxy's theatre. Which made her even more cute than she already is. I had lost hope for Tenjho Tenge, but the last epsiode that one
kid's powers went ballistic and his hair turned black
... I want to watch the show again. Plus Maya and her sister, OMG! I aslo need to watch up a bit on Blood+, which is great btw.
I think Tenjho Tenge and Blood+ suck as well, so we probably are just doomed to disagree. Unless you are watching Gurren Lagann right now as your avi and sig suggest, in which case I would tell you to hurry and watch it all so you can bask in the GREATEST ENDING EVER.
 22.
Wooh, I would have to say that the worst anime I've seen so far would definitely have to be Lupin the III, that show is so stupid, and I believe that it is nearly impossible to get addicted or even watch the show for one episode. Its that bad and boring.
Well, I love it. So, like, theory disproven unless you were only tlaking about yourself. It's a timeless classic, really.
 23. Oh yeah, Darren I should have mentioned I'm more than ready to join your rp. After all the support I've given you over time, I'd feel stupid if I didn't join.
 24.
Well DB isn't a genre genious like you.
there's a better term for this, but I'm sure mentioning it here will only get me more warning points =_= oh, and Prem, listen to more Swallow the Sun. They are incredible. Every time I listen to the album Hope it gets better and better.
 25.
I listened to Yakuza, and learned two things: 1. There's a reason they're not on Metal Archives. 2. You have absolutely no clue what "Progressive Death Metal" means.
The only ****ing source I had was Wikipedia. How the hell am I supposed to determine the genre with no source? And how the hell are hey not metal?
