I can't believe there hasn't been a thread about this yet! (okay, it's hard to find decent pics that don't involve playing the shoujo-ai card but what the hell, it's fun to watch) Simoun, despite what impression it starts off giving with all these hot chicks kissing, is a very serious sci-fi drama. Do you like Gundam, but are tired of the same old damn mech shows that take themselves too seriously and rehash old plots? Well, here's a show for you. First of all, I'd love to give a synopsis of this show as usual, but this show has layers upon layers of exposition that would take too long to explain, and besides I've only just finished ep. 3. This show has tons of background information -- for those of you who like a story based on a thick, interesting background this is for you. The first episode honestly threw me off because it's unbearably serious and all 'this is a war show' right off the bat. The more relaxed feel of the next 2 episodes reeled me right in though and I'm now on board. This show is increadibly popular among big time anime fans and is considered a modern classic by many. so much so, in fact, it managed to get liscenced (your in luck for once!!!) though since the DVDs are far off, it's still rather easy to find subs. Get em while they last, lol.

Customarily, as is true with any forum, the best way to become 'one of us' is by following the simple tactic of 'lurk and learn'. Figure out what's going on and go along with it. Take a look at who's popular and check out the way they post. that's how you want to post. It's not entirely difficult to become an instant star here at OB.
On another site it seemed a lot of people had problems with shows like InuYasha, Naruto and FullMetal Alchemist because of their popularity. Personally I don't think its right to judge a show based on how many people like it, and I mean that towards ANYTHING. People need to create their own opinions and I admire you all for your ability to watch anime and judge it based on your personal taste in anime.
Naruto and Inuyasha - two shows I used to love and now i hate. It's true, I get into confrontations with the hordes of fans for these shows nowadays since they're so popular, but I was watching both when they were relatively obscure, so I doubt that has anything with anything. The thing is, neither Inuyasha or Naruto is a very good show. Both are carbon copies of every other Shonen Jump manga/anime. Both repeat themselves incessently, are rediculously predictable, have indestructible characters that take an eternity to see the slightest development, and repeat the same moves and stuff a thousand million times. I can't even figure out why I liked those shows, though I guess at the time any promise of action was enough for me. It's not so much that I hate the shows for their fans, it's more that I hate the shows for turning people into fans. Whenever I see a Naruto fan I want to tie them to a chair and make them watch something better, lol.

Alcuin - well, I had asked allamorph to go ahead and release him, but he went to bed or something, so I'm assigning the task to BK. Good luck. And I promise I didn't tailor the rules against you, lol, although I do consider it an ironic payback for you screwing Deoky, XD If you don't believe me, though, I showed Indifference the rules back at the beginning, so she can vouch. Sorry for my absense! Yall always get all damn active right when I'm not here, lol. To Darren: Trust me if I'd had death cards, he'da been dead a long time ago, lol. And so.. about the men-to-women thing. Sorry, that's partly my fault for making so much sexism. I always end up getting male charactres killed. It probably falls along the same line of why I almost always write female characters. But hey, not all the guys thought with their cocks. Etamet, Moatilliata, Oromis, Darius, Julian, and at first merik seemed fine >_ -
Turn back now, you fool. Especially if you're over the age of 18.
That's my advice, lol. I'm in my second year of japanese in high school and not only is it really hard, but we're still just learning the basics for geting around in Japan and having a simple conversation. It's not possible to learn the language without being in Japan - just like English it's got so much caked over the regular way of speaking. I mean, it's not like you can just take a Japanese class and all of a sudden poof your subbing anime and reading japanese manga. It's super-difficult >_
[U]Breaking the habit[/U'] by Linkin Park-This video was directed by one of the band memebers Haun.(I thought that was cool)The video is a animated version of the band playing live. The animation is awsome! All the band memebers look exactly how they do in real life and yet they all look like anime characters at the same time.
That has nothing on the one for the remix of that one song with the digime vid. Today, I have this song Shut Me Up by Mindless Self Indulgence. don't worry, it's a clean track this time, lol. The song is addictive and awesome, but the winner is the sweet video. The guy at the cashier is a splendid actor and the effects are fun, especially when he starts killing the people in line. The bass, the rock, the mic, the treble, i like my coffee black just like my metal!
I have to say that from my impresions of seeing the whole series, the first ep starts of with a real bang. It's probably the only word I can use to describe it. It then slows down really quickly in ep2. At times though it seemed very slow even for a short 13 or so ep series especially from about ep 2-6 or something. But once it started getting into the weird and the thick off the plot, the payout in the end was really worth sitting through those slow eps. I think it's well worth watching.
Upon completion, I'd have to agree with this for the most part. Overall, I can safely say I really liked this show, despite the issues I thought it had - issues that I felt to have been resolved by the end. This is truly a pure love story, and I respect it for that, with a perfect ending for a romantic such as myself, lol. There were some slow parts, but they were only a problem in the earlier episodes. I think the problem was that they tried to use situations where we would feel a certain way about the chracters, but they hadn't yet introduced them in a wy that we would care enough yet. Of the first 6 episodes, while I really loved episode one and four, there were only certain parts of other episodes I liked. From 7 on, though, it really makes up for it as a great series. There are still some issues, but when you watch the whole series, the way the whole was projected seems to work out. The show can be really sad or really happy, super-desolate or hyper-energetic, and it does both sides of the field well. I'm glad I watched this right after something like NHK, too. This show isn't meant to be deep, it doesn't make you think hard afterward. It's just a simple, lighthearted, fun, and well-made romantic action comedy (and I mean comedy in the drama sense.) It leaves only one question for the audience.... HAPPY DESU NEE?!?!?! The last 3 episodes were what really clenched it for me, though. They are positively EPIC. I haven't seen an ending quite so crazy in a long time. That's another thing that makes this show interesting - in a lot of episodes it seems like a pure romance and you completely forget about all the 12-year olds with machine guns and giant fire-shooting squids, but when they reappear, it feels almost natural. i don't want to spoil the ending, but i will say that it is positvely awesome and pulls the story together exactly the way I wanted to see.
Hmm, worst... I'd have to say Pokemon. It's like even in the Japanese version, they try to be inconsistent with the games. ("If a grass type jumps, electricity is more effective!" it's like cheating to make Pikachu look good.)
You wound me! Anyway, this next one I actually half-love simply because it's so epic-ly retarded that you can't help but love it to death. Of course I mean the legendary 4 episode OVA, Final Fantasy: Legend of the Crystals from 1995! Firstly, the fact that the FF movie came out only like 5 years after this is hard to believe. The movie had like the most amazing graphics in existence at the time of it's release. This movie looks like an 80s anime or something - it's plain old shoddy. Not only that, but the characters are downright rediculous-looking (well, I suppose I should be glad they don't look like real FF characters, lol.) The OVA is surprisingly shonen. Unlike the FF games, it's positively brimming with testosterone and manly action. The main character has a Sephiroth-length sword, naturally, and there is plenty of action to be seen in this story, which is what solidifies it as 'awesomely-bad,' simply because you'll still have fun while you laugh yourself to death. Know this, you must watch the dub. It is SO VERY BAD that it's increadible. Not to mention it holds the single worst line in dubbing history. The little guy is recalling witnessing his gradpa die and says in 100% monotone. "Grandfather. Nooooooo." That's just GOLD. The story is dumb, the pacing is meaningless, the characters are annoying, the ending comes uick and takes forever - basically it's got all the classic anime complaints - it's plain stupid as hell. Also, Dragon Ball Z and Inuyasha are both pretty god damn stupid, but I don't wanna get into that a thousandth time.

Oi! Found the next one browsing my Anime I've Seen list (sig). I remembered Kai Doh Maru. My god this movie was freaking godawful. Firstly, I thought it would be cool because it was from the makers of Blood the Last Vampire - a 30-minute movie with a unique artstyle. Christ, I was wrong. Firstly, about that damn 'artstyle'. Parts of the movie were supposed to look like some kind of art of the edo, or whatever. It had this hideous look like it was blurred and a coat of white was poured over it which ends up just making it hard to see, not cool. But that wasn't enough, they had to change it up throughout. So, there are parts where there's regular anime-style animation, but in this movie all the (ugly-***) characters do is stand still and talk for about 3/4ths of the film. and what do they babble about? Like every other goddamn samurai show it's full of political intrigue or whatever, but 'intrigue aint the word. They talk about crap you don't care in a horrible attempt to explain the plot that just doesn't work. The worst of the animation comes when they try to change it up. While characters babble, we get one of two things. Either a pan shot of 'nature' which is like a big ugly orange tree that isn't moving or something. that or they'll show a CG version of the town, but the CG is so uninspired it's laughable. The saving grace, like in any samurai story, is the violence, though. Or is it? Cool as their moves are, the camera shaking in the battle scenes makes it near impossible to tell what's going on as everything's an ugly blur. The writing makes me laugh just thinking about. Hideous dialogue, and the worst dub in any anime I've ever heard, lol. Just bad all around. The story is nonsensical as well. Nothing about this freaking movie is appealing - it's a waste of 30 minutes I used on recording it on my fake t-vo. This is crap, and you're better off not having seen it -- though it might be worth watching just to laugh your *** off at the dub.
But yeah, maybe you weren't born yet DB, or they weren't as out in the open[/B'], but those hard core nerdy fans were there. .
That's what I meant. Hardcore nerds are only recently big enough to be considered a social class. they used to be the occasional weired guy in your neighboorhood, but now they're extremely common, and you can find them all over the place (myself, for example, am a hardcore nerd more than anyone I've ever met in person, and yet I also happen to be well-known, as well as I know other hardcore nerds even at school.)

Ninja Ressurection is the worst turd to ever slide down the tubes of anime's anus. This double-reature was meant to be a sequel to the uber-famous anime classic Ninja Scroll. Basically, the only similarity, though, is the character Jubei returning. Okay, so it comes in two parts. The first one is about religion, some holy war, a kid with god inside of him, and a whole truckload of BS. Really, the only reason these movies exist is to be offensive, and they are plenty of that, but holy crap they could not have made something more tragically disgisting and terrible as this heaping load of pure ****. The second part is the worst. Apart from that the first 10 minutes have nothing to do with the rest, the whole thing is ****ing disgusting, pointless, and tripe. There's some rape, summoning of the devil, all the classic nasty ********. Now mind you, I don't care about extreme sex and violence, hell i've written my fair share of it. But this movie is just crap caked in piss. It's an attack on your intelligence and it will make you cry bloody tears. The ending is the worst part of all. The team of demons shows up in town, kills like 40 people, then jumps up on top of a building and says 'the world is next' or some such crap. If you even remotely like Ninja Scroll, do yourself a favor and avoid this hideous atrocious abomination. I don't care who you are, if you savor your dignity, your well-being, or even your innocence, don't watch this hunk of pubic cake.

Once again, this is a show that's rather old, 2 years old I believe, but has no thread here and since I'm just now watching it, I'm inviting you to do so as well. It has yet to be licensed for American release (which at this point means it probably wont ever be) so if you need subs, PM me about it. First, I'm going to link to Wikipedia, as they do a better job of explaining why this anime is hard to classify into a genre. [link] The first episode of this show will throw off what is to be expected for the rest of the series. It begins with a totally zany battle scene starring these two twin loli girls who don't actually appear at all later... it then cuts to our protagonist, Rentarouu, who is in a pickle dealing with the yakuza (common trend in the shows I'm watching, lol.) I won't recount it, but the first episode has an almost FLCL level of zaniness with over-the-top explosive combat action as it introduces our star characters. This is completely belayed, though, by the next two episodes. These ones have a more gentle atmosphere to a large extent. It's almost like watching a whole different show. In some ways, this creates some major pacing issues that are hard to get used to, though it is still an interesting and fun show. In episode four we get more hyper action and comedy, but then episode 5 is 100% slow and more serious. From what I've read, this trend continues and the series also becomes more serious about halfway through (I'm only through ep 5 so far.) The show is by UFO table who also did the recent Manabi Straight as well as some other rather well-known productions, though this is only the 2nd I've seen of theres. At times the animation results to pan-shots and the like, but for the most part it's solid. EDIT: At episode 11 I'd say other than some awkward writing in certain episodes, I'm loving this show. The blend of serious, heavy drama and rediculous action sequences is seemless. This show gets points for imagination where it falters a little in execution. All-around pretty cool though, and at certain parts a little sad.

I'm not even being really random this time, I'm just picking whatever 15 songs i want to talk about right now, beacause i feel like it, because I am an American Cowboy. Song: Stupid MF Band: Mindless Self Indulgence Description: A song about stupid people, as the name expects. Don't expect to understand any of the lyrics except for the highly controvercial chorus, lol. Seriously, as the name suggests, if you don't want to hear the f-bomb dropped a lot, don't listen. Anyway, MSI' combination of rock and technio with hip-hop elements and a lethal drug dose is addictive. Love this song. [link] Song: Windrider Band: Ensiferum Description: This is one of my favorite Ensiferum songs, and they are currently one of my bands though I've heard no more than 20 of their songs and don't like all of them as much as others, though the ones I love are spectacular. This song is one of their heavier, and also one of their most inspirational, ans can be said of many of their songs. The folk and metal elements are combined perfectly here, and every time he screams 'windrider' i want to slash a beast down. Currently this is linked in my sig, but in case that changes soon, here's a link [link] Song: The Funeral Portrait Band: Opeth Description: I don't bother with the full song as often as the slightly cut short version in the 300 video I'm linking to. This song has some great riffage and an amusing atmosphere that makes the length worth it. It's dark, gives the feeling of blood, and when you watch this video especially, it's got a feeling of all around cool. One of the best songs from Blackwater Park, even if that's not my favorite Opeth album. Cool *** solos too.[link] Song: Hey You Band: Pink Floyd Description: A truly amazing, somber, beautiful piece. Seems to fit overly well with most of the anime I watched as represented in countless AMVs. This song makes me intensely sad every time. The solo is perfect, the lyrics are heavy, and the imagery is strong. Every part of this song is amazing. [link] Song: Day 8: School Band: Ayreon Description: School's a real *****, and I know how the guy feels. If you like opera in your rock and metal in your symphony, this is for you. Complete with multiple singers, cheesy lyrics, and total awesomeness, you can't hate this song without being a jackass. y the way, gotta love the fitting Zatch Bell vid [link] Song: Everything Means Nothing Band: Toe Description: A really cool song by an instrumental Japanese post-rock band. This was the first song I heard by them and it's intensely cool. The riffage is great, but the best part is how they masterfully blended the instruments in an amazing way. The bass, guitars, drums, all are absolutely spectacular. It's an experience not to miss. [link] Song: Stealing Society Band: System of a Down Description: One of my favorite SOAD songs. It's heavy and yet airy - a really great song no matter which way you look at it. It's interestin, and it doesn't sound like any song I can think of in existence. The pending energy during the verses is almost quizical, and when it starts jamming around halfway through, I can't help but get into it. Probably the best of Hypnotize, though the whole thing is pretty damn epic. Listening to this album with while playing Halo harkens some of my greatest memories. Warning: foul language and bad video. [link] Song: The Great Debate Band: Dream Theater Description: Since the last took the whole duration of the song to type the description, i went for a 10-minute opus this time. This is one of my favorite DT songs, and an excellent example of prog-metal as a whole. This song is excellent because unlike too many DT songs it doesn't put all it's focus on mediocre, squealy solos. The lyrics are perfectly neutral, and the recordings of public statements at parts blend in well. Musically, it's simply outstanding, namely for the intriguing time signatures. Stem cells and Ghost in the Shell spoilers.[link] Song: Odoru Akacha Ningen Band: Fumihiko Kitsutaka Decription: The first ending theme to Welcome to the NHK. Four WTFs please. [link] Song: Little Busters Band: The Pillows Description: This song honestly sounds better as an insert in the anime FLCL for several reasons. A. it gets repetitive since it's basically a verse and chorus repetition, though it's so damn catchy it's impossible to care. The only thing that bothers me is the way his voice sounds when he says 'just witing for the little busters.' in any event... 'where the kids think of the future/maybe kids don't need their masters/just waiting for the little busters/oh yeah, yeah yeah yeah'. Epic. [link] Song: Bring the Pain Band: Mindless Self Indulgence Description: Wait, I don't even really know this song. I've heard a different version, but not this quite. not to mention I already put an MSI song on this list, and this on'e oly a hundred times crazier and worse. Just don't even watch, heh. [link] Song: Sleeping Giant Band: Mastodon Description: By no means their best song, but good nonetheless - one of their calmer tracks I suppose you could say. The opening instrumental is great. That's not why I'm posting this. You really have to see this video. It's the funniest thing i've ever seen. Sadly, these kids remind me so much of my brothers and I and it's so something we would do. Cheesy as all hell XD [link] Song: Gor-gor Band: GWAR Description: This opus of immense magnitude is what introduced me to the incomparaby amazing GWAR. They are your masters and you must die for them accordingly. Until your blood has been pumped from the hole where your had once connected to your body, you must spend your every moment in tribute to the almighty rulers of earth known as GWAR. Probably some violence. [link] Song: Supersonic Band: Bad Religion Description: ZOMG notime to type thisstuff I only have under 2 minutes whatdoido um... wellits reallycoolandicanrelate to it and stuff so I really like it and It's got a sonic video and stuff which is all cool and OMG typos so constantly I quiet now, LOLZ [link] Song: Stinkfist Band: Tool Description: An honestly completely depressing song, which brings me to the point of this list altogether. I mean, I guess that's how I relieve my stress - by listening to music and typing meaninglessly long posts. It's like existentialism wrapped in guitars and lyrics that make me want to die, right? Cuz that's how every Sunday ends in the long run, even when you get to stay up later. You could live forever and still die, couldn't you? Okay,i've gotten off topic there. Although when it comes to tool, i could say anything and remain on-topic so there. In any event, beyond it's length this post is entirely wierd enough already and I have a lot of bold tags to add...

You were even more specifi than me, not to mention thorough XD. I liked it, even if it was insanely long and in bright purple (though my hideous orange gives me no right to complain, lol.). I need to go back in edit some things that were important and left out. - go to a gifted school in third grade - attempt suicide in third grade - find first interest in writin in fourth grade - discover pornography at 8 years old - hump the ground all the time - discover masturbation at 11. Become best friends with it. - at 14, get into an internet relationship with an overweight 30-year-old woman. Why are they all really dark things >_< EDIT: ended up with even more than that, lol. I was laughing maniacally as I created the poison card and the mind-switch card, but i never even dreamed they would be used together so well! Whoever Sastasha's handler is better step up quick - the poison duration has not lengthened! -
Okay! I don't know why it's a week later when I post this, and this thread is extremely old, but that's where the directory came in, so I guess it's okay. I bought volume one of this last Sunday and I have to say... I love it! First of all, as a huge otaku, it's only natural I can relate to this. It was perfect timing, too, because many of these things I learned about recently, and so it's like i'm exactly at pace with the manga. The most important thing for me in any series is the characters, and this manga has some amazing ones! They act like true otaku, only without being incessently bitchy, and that's cool to see. Kanji-kun is cool because he remids me of my brother - unable to fully accept the things he enjoys - and in some ways like myself before just a while ago. Kousaka is the best, lol. He's so increadibly hardcore and so innocent-minded that you can't help but wish him the best. [strike]Not to mention the GAR-factor.[/strike] Madarame has to be the one I relate to most, though. He shares my methodology in obsession - my need to defend my beliefs with long, dramatic speeches full of eccentricity - and my utter nerdiness. Tanaka is great to if for no reason than that he's just really fun. Saki-chan gives a good variety to the group. She isn't a total tsundere like I expected, which is great because I hate them >_< but she's still brutally honest and hilariously deperate for Kousaka-kun. I would say more about Ohno, but I'd like to see more of her first. The artwork in this series is great. My favorite part being when they enter the doujin shop. The extrme detail was nice (yes... niiiiiiiice). Also, I loved this so much I managed to read it 3 times in under a week!

Anime Hayate no Gotoku (Hayate the Combat Butler)
2010DigitalBoy replied to 2010DigitalBoy's topic in Otaku Central
I like playing "Spot the Parody" in Hayate. You can usually tell when they're poking fun at something because they bleep out words like "Gundam" but working out which series they're referencing is pretty fun. Besides which it's quite well done for a just-for-laughs series. I especially like Sakuya and Isumi's hardcore corporate bodyguards and the continuing restatement of the exact figure of Hayate's giant debt...
Ah yes, there are tons of references! From the Gundam quote in ep. 1 to... OMFG he's Solid Snake in ep. 3, and so forth. The whole bleepig thing gets confusing when you don't know what they're referencing >_< it's cool, though, cuz it doesn't affect the plot. I can't get over the 4th wall massacre XD The bodyguard are absolutely freaking hilarious, especially when they appear from thin air. I think my favorite scene so far was the one where he was trying to protect the cashmire (sp?) and the insane train of events following. I couldn't stop laughing - I had to pause it just so the subs wouldn't pass me. This show is absurdly hilarious (as of ep 8) as well as terribly adorable. Nagi-chan makes my lolicon sense tingle... EDIT: I forgot to mention,
when they dressed Hayate as a girl he was REALLY FREAKING HOT!!!!! [strike] that's one trap I'd gladly fall into.[/strike]
-
Anime Your "To Buy" list? (anime and manga edition)
2010DigitalBoy replied to 2010DigitalBoy's topic in Otaku Central
UPDATE: I now own Ergo Proxy volume one, so that is removed from the list. MANGA 1. Genshiken vol.2 and onward - this is the most important manga for me to collect right now. Volume one was so great i read it 3 times in a week nad could still read it again now if I wanted to, lol. 2. Hayate the Combat Butler vol.1 - the anime has been great from what I've seen, so naturally the manga will be necessary! [strike]Plus I need a more portable way of looking at Nagi-chan[/strike] 3. Nodame Cantabile vol.1 - This one is actually a 'maybe'. The reason being that while i like the anime a lot, there are a lot of differences, and I don't know if it'll be the same without the music... ANIME 1. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya special edition w/ artbox - ZOMG IT'S OUT!!! See the haruhi thread for why I want this so much!!! -
What began as an action-harem comedy-fourth wall destroying shonen manga has now become anime. Currently up to ep. 8 in Japan (if you need subs, contact me) this is a show that's garnered significant buzz and the manga is currently being released in English so there's no beter time to talk about it. I've just finished watching episode 2, but since I like to give early impressions and move at the same speed as the croud, I'll detail it before I watch more. After a brief introduction, the show takes off with Hayate speaking to Santa Claus as an 8-year old. This is quite possibly the most hilarious conversation ever had. Anyway, because Hayate's family is poor, Santa tells him he can never get presents from him, and that a true person would work to live. From the time that he is 8, hayate is forced to support his family, being him and his parents. His parents both have crazy dreams and they throw any money they get away hoping to find happiness but instead are lazy bastards who act like they don't need to do anything. At 15, Hayate is currently working for a delivery company and is renowned as the fastest delivery boy ever. He can ride his bike and pass cars on the interstate, plus he has an extremely abnormal dexterity; which helps because he has terrible luck and gets hit by things constantly. One day, though, his employer finds out that he is underage and fires him, giving his last paycheck to his parents. Unfortuanetaly, when Hayate returns home, he finds that his parents arent there. All that remains is a note stating that his parents received a huge loan and left, leaving the debt with Hayate. And the debt is with the Yakuza! and it's 156,108,000 yen! Hayate is attacked by yakuza, but jumps out the window and escapes. While in the park, Hayate decides that dilligence is worthless and woes over the fall of Petrach whose dilligence betrayed him. While in the park, he notices a super-adorable loli girl trying to figure out a vending machine ('this thing doesn't take credit cards?!') and is obviously a rich girl. Hayate decides to kidnap her, but is cut short when another two guys come over and start harassing her. Hayate's sense of justice kicks in and he immediately pummels the two into oblivion, which makes the girl instantly fall for him. he claims herself in his debt. Hayate decides to ask her if he can kidnap her, but when he does, he words it in such a way ('i want to take you away!') that the girl thinks he is pronouncing his love for her. Though embarassed, she seems to be happy about it. He asks her parents number and then runs quickly to find a phone. Unfortuanetaly, Hayate accidentely starts by saying his name, then immediately hangs up. In the meanwhile, two men come and kidnap the girl back in the park, not to hayate's knowlege. Hayate gets majorly emo, collapsing in the snow and wondering if he should just die (its actually really hilarious,of course) and is being dramatic. Just as he is falling asleep, an older girl stops on a bike and helps him up, offering her scarf for warmth. Hayate is instantly filled with joy that someone so ind exists. Over in the distance he notices the two men carrying the girl into their car. The girl with the scarf is apparently a friend of the rich girl and notes that she is being kidnapped, and that if their butler hadn't been gone he could have rescued her. The car takes off, but Hayate is filled with determination! He takes the girls bike and speeds off in persuit! --- and the rest you have to see for yourself ;) this show if full of anime absurdity and hilarity as well as great, over-the-top action. It isn't quite as energetic as Gurren-Lagann, but it also has next to no focus on drama and is comedy-pumped. The show finds hilarious ways to break the fourth wall constantly and could kind of be considered parody - sort of like Duel Masters only even cooler. I reccommed it to all you kiddies ;) :p
I will have to try it out. I've watched Paranoia Agent in the past and found it amusing :) Thanks a lot.
Yay! I just finished watching this last night (watched from like 12 to 24 in a marathon, lol) and this is probably now my third favorite anime of all time, pushing Kanon out of the way. In fact it might even surpass Haruhi for the number 2 spot. This anime really toyed with my emotions and coincided exactly with my way of thought. The creepiest part, though, is how well it relates exactly to my current situation. Like in the anime, I was on an emotional roller coaster for like 6 months, and now I'm at the point where
i've decided that even though life is fruitless, there's no reason to die yet.
This anime, I think, carries the most truth and the biggest life lesson I've ever seen in a show. The ending was really great.
As much as I was begging to see Misaki and Satou kiss or at least hug, I think the more subtle ending worked.
And also, who would've guessed Satou would have
become a traffic cop?!
The best part to me, though, is just
imagining their future. I know both could just up and kill themselves at any moment, but I don't think they will. I can see the way their future will probably play out. They continue to do the lectures, gradually fall more in love, after Misaki-chan graduates they'll get married, and go on with the rest of their lives. I don't doubt there will be those 'this is worthless, I should die!' moments, but overall I think their situation was so perfect in the end it makes me smile just thinking about it.
And now, I need to quickly avoid thinking about the series at all. Whenever i watch something like this, I always get really deperessed. Because while you know that
everything worked out, you can never convince yourself that it would actually happen to you. That instead, you'll die all alone. But at the same time, you think 'wasn't that the point? that it can happen?'
I always end up thinking about it too much and getting really sad and crying. So I'll stop ^^;;
Tell that to the Trekkies. :p ~Dagger~
Ah, yes, there have always been the Star Wars fans and the Trekkies, but they were much more of a niche thing. There have only recently been a whole ton of hardcore nerds and they are much more openly so. Plus they fit into more categories than just a movie/tv show fan.

kekeke! Another punishment of CCC proportions! This was my favorite of all the crimes, too. I'm giddy with excitement! Also, the cards seem to be looking good so far. I get the feeling there will be some death by poison coming soon!
